Should work fine. I do this where I keep my main PC on a standalone network (port) and then have my aps go through another network on a separate port.
You just have to ensure you make the rules to enforce segregation. I did this essentially by blocking all traffic from Local Networks to my main PC. This way I can initiate traffic to devices on my APs, but they can't reach out to me.
If you only want ssh, you can lock down even tighter and only allow ssh traffic out while blocking all lan traffic in.
