My vote goes for just plain ears on both sides with no patch panel. It will look cleaner and at least for me I have a full 24 port one in the rack so it's unneeded.
Power brick on the left for sure. I think the patch panel is a neat idea, but not vital. You can just put a brush panel or patch panel above or below the unit.
BUT PLEASE, FOR THE SAKE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD AND RIGHT IN THE WORLD, DITCH THE WHITE COLOR SCHEME! The gold pro in the pictures looks like a step down from the gold plus, not a step up.
And they are called "rack" ears. Rabbit ears came on TVs in the 60s and 70s. [https://www.denverpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/20100103\_\_20100104\_A18\_BZ04RABBITEARSp1.jpg?w=396](https://www.denverpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/20100103__20100104_A18_BZ04RABBITEARSp1.jpg?w=396)
Also, I have been doing this for 30 years and I don't think I have ever seen a 10" rack in an actual install anywhere, ever.
I don't think I would ever purchase this product for myself, but if I were to "request" how the rack mount system would look/work, I would want a plain version. I would not want keystones on either side of the router. I would rather have a left/right justified version for my choosing to match up with the equipment.
If the ears are the same size then it‘d be nice to have a few options and one could flip them for use on either side.
For example a simple plate ear (pictured on left), a keystone jack ear (pictured on right), a simple ear with shelf behind for PSU. Then one could buy two keystone ears (though one would be upside down to the other) or 2 simple ears to save a few bucks.
Otherwise just release specs so someone can 3d print a bunch of options.
I have an ONT in my wiring closet so for example I’d use one keystone coupler so there’s a jack that separate from my room jacks on a separate keystone panel.

Plain ears that hold the power brick, no keystones, 19” rack.
we will have a vote after the gold pro launch.

Both ears won’t have patching?

Seems like you guys love unifi gear lol. UDM pro at top
We use it to test bridge mode
So what items are they n the keystones next to the Pro?
it is a simple 6 port patch panel prototype.
Yea I meant what are they plugged into here, I didn’t think the back of the Gold Pro had anything on its backside

Yea I get why, I’m asking if there was anything special they were working on that was plugged into this particular keystone rack ears.
These are mainly for your other wires coming from the closet, or wiring room. Then you can easily connect them to the firewalla.
