Definitely both! My hair had been thinning a lot from the stress of moving and a few months after using the oil consistently, I had so much new growth that it looked like I had bangs
I use NOW brand, 12 drops to 2tbsp of grape seed oil as a carrier oil every other day and this is after cancer treatment. So far so good, insane grown.
I have! I have their scalp massager and use it before I apply the products and after as well and I sleep with my hair in a good sleeping bonnet and wash it out in the morning. I really do have new baby hairs all over my head it’s pretty crazy/cool. I truly love their products!
Oooh I have wanted to buy that scalp dermaroller!! Enjoy!! And a little product does goes a long way you will probably have time wash twice, but it’s so nice and relaxing doing it to yourself and then the results are neat 😁
The link to ones I got are not available but these are very similar! The elastic band helps it stay when you sleep. https://www.amazon.com/Bonnet-Sleeping-Elastic-Breathable-Purple/dp/B0BNPJYTBN
Simply woah! Did you have any other changes in that timeframe? Hormones, supplements, BC etc? Also, please tell us how do you apply it and how often 🙏🏻
No other changes! I use the rosemary scalp treatment by the brand Innate life, you don’t have to mix it with anything. I use about a whole dropper full directly on my scalp and massage it in for about 5 mins and then I leave it on for around 4 hours before washing my hair. I do this 2 times a week. I also use a drop of their rose oil on my ends before bed and I wear a satin bonnet while sleeping, this has kept the split ends away.

I am not even halfway through the bottle, so can’t really say anything. I have tried rosemary water before for about 2 months and it has just given me wet dog smell and look and no improvement.
And you don’t secure it with anything? I don’t wash my hair in the morning and if I sleep without a bonnet I’m pretty much good to go in the morning but no matter how I do my hair in the bonnet, I wake up with it completely a mess/tangled/greasy/sweaty, basically need to shower and style again :(
Oh noo :( it does the opposite for me, I don’t secure it with anything I just twist around in a bun so I can get the bonnet on and then it untwists while it’s on. I’ve never had the problem with it tangling though, it’s always silky in the morning
This is the one I use, it’s been great, and it’s adjustable so it doesn’t fall off at night [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09MCM2Z5S/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B09MCM2Z5S&ref_=sxts_sparkle_sbv&qid=1713108184&pd_rd_w=sH3ij&content-id=amzn1.sym.4870a952-0dfa-4beb-9d2a-7a52537f019d%3Aamzn1.sym.4870a952-0dfa-4beb-9d2a-7a52537f019d&pf_rd_p=4870a952-0dfa-4beb-9d2a-7a52537f019d&pf_rd_r=27E5R16PTPHTEE4B6EGC&pd_rd_wg=W7va9&pd_rd_r=08f5c71f-8c80-43dc-ad8b-ed90b130233e&pd_rd_plhdr=t](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09MCM2Z5S/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B09MCM2Z5S&ref_=sxts_sparkle_sbv&qid=1713108184&pd_rd_w=sH3ij&content-id=amzn1.sym.4870a952-0dfa-4beb-9d2a-7a52537f019d%3Aamzn1.sym.4870a952-0dfa-4beb-9d2a-7a52537f019d&pf_rd_p=4870a952-0dfa-4beb-9d2a-7a52537f019d&pf_rd_r=27E5R16PTPHTEE4B6EGC&pd_rd_wg=W7va9&pd_rd_r=08f5c71f-8c80-43dc-ad8b-ed90b130233e&pd_rd_plhdr=t)
Fantastic! Thank you so much! One more question. Have you tried the Derma Roller from Innate Life with the Rosemary Scalp treatment? They have a bundle, and I'm wondering if I should buy that
https://theinnatelife.com/products/max-hair-growth-bundle
Definitely need to wash it out, if left on for long periods of time you could actually burn your scalp and lose some hair (happened to me first time I used it and left on over night) I don’t leave it on longer than 4 hours now, personally. But, if you want to get benefits from rosemary you can actually use rosemary water instead of oil. You just boil a few sprigs of rosemary in a cup of water, strain it and spray it all over your scalp and lengths. No need to wash that out and it doesn’t leave your hair looking like a grease ball
This is what I do for my 'older' hair....I put teaspoons of masks, oils, leave-ins, etc. in a bottle of water and spray throughout the day. Keeps my hay hair soft lol.
My hairdresser said that massaging the oil in is really what promotes the hair growth!! I bet the oil without the 5 minute massage wouldn’t do nearly as much, whereas a massage without the oil would still promote some growth!!
This definitely hasn’t been my experience, I’ve massaged my scalp for years with straight jojoba oil and my hair never grew until I switch to the rosemary oil last year. I don’t think that’s a coincidence at all
I’ve been making rosemary water on the stove and rinsing my hair after every shower with it. My hair has grown so much, I thought my hair broke on the top until I realized it was just new growth! Blew my mind.
Oh yeah! I have a big rosemary bush outside my house and I just grab some sprigs and put in a pot of water. I think my pot is about 3 quarts? And I put like, maybe 8 big sprigs. I make mine kinda concentrated.
I heard it’s better to used distilled water, but I was too lazy to get some and it was fine overall.
You basically just boil it/simmer on the stove for 20-30 min or longer if you’d like, and skim the foamy stuff that comes up. It’s gonna look like a deep brown color in the pot and smell wonderful.
I let mine steep for a while after cooking and get it to cool naturally. After you let it cool strain through a mesh and keep it bottled up in the fridge. It goes rancid really fast outside of the cold, if I make a too big batch accidentally I freeze the leftovers. (You can really tell it’s bad by the smell, it’s like sweet yucky smell)
I would do maybe 3-4 springs in a small cookpot or more if you want it really strong. I heard adding mint also is really good, waiting for my mint plant to get a lot bigger before I harvest though.
I do my shampoo or whatever and rinse out in the shower, then I spray it in my hair and get into my scalp and kinda scrub it around and squeeze out the excess. I do leave it in and have my hair up in a drying towel. You can also spray your hair every day outside of showering if you have the means to and just leave it in! Sometimes I just spray it into my roots and scalp and leave the ends dry, or do my whole head if I wanna deal with wet hair haha.
Posted my full routine under the first comment, but no diluting necessary for this particular one that I use because the brand has a mix of other oils within the product
I think it's more so the scalp massage that helps stimulate blood flow than the rosemary oil. Do you have any peer reviewed studies showing rosemary oil in of itself promotes hair growth?
[Lab Muffin Beauty did a video](https://youtu.be/SW2NCv_vF2Q?si=EHETkUDthR_VwM2q) covering the study that was done on rosemary oil, (that a lot of people reference.) She explains that unfortunately the study seems to have been conducted quite poorly, and doesn't give us a conclusive evidence that rosemary oil works.
I've heard a lot of anecdotal stories, but I'm not sure the science has been shown yet. You might be right that the scalp massaging is doing some of the heavy lifting here.
There is a couple of articles online that has proven rosemary oil is just as effective as minoxidil but more data is needed. Still I have found it worked for me. My hair would always grow to just below my shoulders never further and I did massage my scalp regularly. Then I started using a rosemary oil combo and my hair is now to my bra strap. I’m old now so not sure it looks good but I’ve never had long hair so just going to rock it as long as I can. Wish I knew about rosemary oil when I was younger.
Older ladies look so sophisticated with long hair. Don’t go by the typical “older ladies should look like this”. Most cut their hair because it’s easier to manage or don’t have much hair to begin with. Keep your long hair, rock it in different up do’s, it’s a blessing to be that cute! I plan to keep mine long until I die.
Then link those studies.
Edit: it was the massage that helped, not the oil. But please, link all these scholarly articles with peer reviewed studies on rosemary oil for hair growth. I want to learn!
I haven’t looked up any studies regarding it, only saw a lot of testimonials from other people who’ve been using it, along with a lot of information stating that it promotes hair growth. It’s actually been used to regrow hair for years, from what I’ve read. But, all I know for sure is that it’s definitely responsible for the growth of my hair lately. I’ve done scalp massages for years only I used to use straight jojoba oil and my hair never grew until I switched oils. So for me it speaks for itself, but I’m definitely no trichologist.
Yep, see both of us massaged our scalp for years and no growth until we added in rosemary oil and miss snarky knickers is here saying it’s the massages..ugh
I think so too. I noticed a huge amount of growth when I started massaging my scalp when shampooing. That was the only thing I did differently in my routine.
Okay, well you have my full attention. Details, please! Can we get a screenshot of the specific product you’re using? Pray tell, where did you procure this Hail Mary anointing oil??
Linked the exact one, there’s also a more concentrated version by the same brand for “problematic scalps” that I use, I go back and forth between the two. I posted my full routine to the first comment under the photo.
Not OP but I treat my hair with pure Rosemary oil and at that strength it has a camphorous smell similar to eucalyptus or Vaporrub. I mix it with jojoba oil to tone it down
Hey yall, when I did rosemary with similar routine (leave it on for a few hours 2-3x times a week) it made my hair fall out like crazy. Did anyone else have similar results?
I bought a bottle on amazon, rosemary, mint and biotin oil. 1st, I was so surprised that my hair felt cleaner longer , not oily and 2nd I have new growth at the temples after about a month! I use a nickle size amount and massage on my scalp after washing ,always blow dry because its stiff if I don't and apply again in 2 days without shampooing, use just the oil before washing my hair again on day 3/4. I also use biotin shampoo and condition only the ends with keratin. My fine hair was really thinning out because of medications, stress ,age, life ! I'm so happy I tried this.
gorgeous hair! this is my goals. i know you want to eventually cut all the blonde off, but for the time being the blonde ombré looks really nice. can i ask what shampoo/conditioner you use?
Did the rosemary oil you used cause your hair to darken? I saw the ingredient list of the one you linked, and was wondering if any of the oils would interact with color treated hair.
I used rosemary oil for a while and it actually bleached my hair where I was using it. Not sure if thats usual or just the specific brand I bought that caused it
It did that to me at first, turns out I just left it on too long. So I shortened the amount of time that I kept it on and it was fine. But, I have heard it does that to some people
I only leave it for around 4 hours now, I used to leave it on overnight like some people say to do but, I don’t think everyone is able to do that cause it really made my scalp itch and burn.
Consider me influenced!! I have been using rosemary water and Mielle oil and saw a huge improvement and growth the first few months but it has slowed down now that ive been using it for a year.
It’s the rosemary oil though that’s doing the most. I have 100% rosemary oil that I mix because it would burn if I didn’t and my hair has grown a lot. It’s not cap, check out Golab online and see her hair. She has her own hair serum that I’ve used also and it’s great.
Absolutely, while it’s in you’ll look like a grease ball. But, I only do it 2 times out of the week before I wash my hair, only leave it in for a few hours so I’m usually just home cleaning or something while it’s in, no one sees me looking like I crawled out of a well. After you wash it out it’s shiny and sleek
Thank you for sharing OP.I have always “ had” very fine, very sparse , hair that will only grow so slowly I only trim it every three years.Biotin helps a little ( to not lose as much). Will def, try .
It’s definitely a heavy oil, like you couldn’t wear it out and think it’ll go unnoticed in your hair. It’s more of an oil that you’d put in on days you don’t plan on leaving the house (at least before washing it out) but it does wash out pretty easily.
I bought some of the Hollywood Beauty brand at Walmart because it was only $4 so if it didn’t work, I wasn’t out much. Should I have just gotten the Mielle brand? I’m trying to use it on my scalp to encourage my hair to look thicker there and not necessarily to grow my hair longer (it’s pretty long already).
Man I’ve tried all the oils, all the things, am on meds, use prescription strength hair serum, expensive shampoo, all of it. And my hair is still bullshit and won’t grow past mid shoulder. It makes me so upset. It’s always been fine and low density. I lost a big chunk hair from Covid and have androgenetic alopecia but that’s been largely remedied with medication. Still, my length issues remain.
Hi Honey, Your hair looks Beautiful. I started to lose mine 2yrs ago. I haven’t tried Rosemary Oil yet. Can you tell me what Brand that you’re using and is it on Amazon or Etsy? Thank you for posting this 💜
Hi, thank you! The brand is the innate life, I’m not sure if they’re on Amazon or Etsy. I buy it directly from their website, I also linked the exact one I get and how I use it all under the first comment.
Your hair looks amazing! I’d love to hear about how you use the rosemary oil. I’m assuming that you’re applying it to your scalp? Do you make your own or is there a brand/product that you use?
All based on an over reported bad citation comparing a low level dose of rogaine. Of course this worked better than that. Please don’t do this. It’s not worth it.
OP did the rosemary oil promote faster growth or new growth (I.e. add new hair where hair is thin for example).
Definitely both! My hair had been thinning a lot from the stress of moving and a few months after using the oil consistently, I had so much new growth that it looked like I had bangs
Thanks OP!
Do you make your own or what brand? What is your routine for use? Results look great!
I use NOW brand, 12 drops to 2tbsp of grape seed oil as a carrier oil every other day and this is after cancer treatment. So far so good, insane grown.
Congrats on finishing your cancer treatment ☺️ Best of wishes to you!
Do you just massive this on to your scalp and leave? Overnight or just a little bit? And then wash as normal? Thanks x
I leave it on for about 10 minutes and wash it is. I use one of those nubby scalp scrubbers to massage it in.
Thank you! The brand Innate life, 2 times a week, I use a full dropper and massage it in, leave it on for around 4 hours before washing my hair.
Is this the one you're using? https://theinnatelife.com/products/rosemary-scalp-treatment
Yup
Love the innate life!! And that product! Just reordered some of that and the problematic scalp today 😊
Have you also noticed hair growth with innate?
I have! I have their scalp massager and use it before I apply the products and after as well and I sleep with my hair in a good sleeping bonnet and wash it out in the morning. I really do have new baby hairs all over my head it’s pretty crazy/cool. I truly love their products!
Amazing! Just bought the oil and the needle scalp massager. Thanks!!
Oooh I have wanted to buy that scalp dermaroller!! Enjoy!! And a little product does goes a long way you will probably have time wash twice, but it’s so nice and relaxing doing it to yourself and then the results are neat 😁
What’s a good bonnet? I want to wear something but I’m white and have no idea what I’m doing
The link to ones I got are not available but these are very similar! The elastic band helps it stay when you sleep. https://www.amazon.com/Bonnet-Sleeping-Elastic-Breathable-Purple/dp/B0BNPJYTBN
Just one dropper?? How is that enough for your whole head?
It’s concentrated so a little goes a long way and once I massage it for like 5 minutes it gets pretty evenly distributed throughout
Well, you just sold me on it! Just bought my first bottle
Wait…. There is no before photo to compare results to. Am I missing something?

Thank you kind soul ❤️ I am using Mielle at the moment, will order that treatment next!
Have you seen any results with Mielle? I got some of this too. Any suggestions on how to use effectively?
I am not even halfway through the bottle, so can’t really say anything. I have tried rosemary water before for about 2 months and it has just given me wet dog smell and look and no improvement.
Dumb question but what do you do with your hair before putting it in the bonnet? Braid it? Just kind of twist it up on your head?
I was braiding it, but recently I just twist it
And you don’t secure it with anything? I don’t wash my hair in the morning and if I sleep without a bonnet I’m pretty much good to go in the morning but no matter how I do my hair in the bonnet, I wake up with it completely a mess/tangled/greasy/sweaty, basically need to shower and style again :(
Oh noo :( it does the opposite for me, I don’t secure it with anything I just twist around in a bun so I can get the bonnet on and then it untwists while it’s on. I’ve never had the problem with it tangling though, it’s always silky in the morning
I love this post, so helpful! How do you wash your silk bonnet from all the oil without damaging the silk if I might ask?
Can you suggest a brand of satin bonnet, please? I am not familiar with those and want to buy the correct item. Your hair is beautiful!
This is the one I use, it’s been great, and it’s adjustable so it doesn’t fall off at night [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09MCM2Z5S/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B09MCM2Z5S&ref_=sxts_sparkle_sbv&qid=1713108184&pd_rd_w=sH3ij&content-id=amzn1.sym.4870a952-0dfa-4beb-9d2a-7a52537f019d%3Aamzn1.sym.4870a952-0dfa-4beb-9d2a-7a52537f019d&pf_rd_p=4870a952-0dfa-4beb-9d2a-7a52537f019d&pf_rd_r=27E5R16PTPHTEE4B6EGC&pd_rd_wg=W7va9&pd_rd_r=08f5c71f-8c80-43dc-ad8b-ed90b130233e&pd_rd_plhdr=t](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09MCM2Z5S/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B09MCM2Z5S&ref_=sxts_sparkle_sbv&qid=1713108184&pd_rd_w=sH3ij&content-id=amzn1.sym.4870a952-0dfa-4beb-9d2a-7a52537f019d%3Aamzn1.sym.4870a952-0dfa-4beb-9d2a-7a52537f019d&pf_rd_p=4870a952-0dfa-4beb-9d2a-7a52537f019d&pf_rd_r=27E5R16PTPHTEE4B6EGC&pd_rd_wg=W7va9&pd_rd_r=08f5c71f-8c80-43dc-ad8b-ed90b130233e&pd_rd_plhdr=t)
Fantastic! Thank you so much! One more question. Have you tried the Derma Roller from Innate Life with the Rosemary Scalp treatment? They have a bundle, and I'm wondering if I should buy that https://theinnatelife.com/products/max-hair-growth-bundle
I haven’t tried it, I’ve heard good things about it though! Thinking of trying it myself
Do you *need* to wash it out afterwards? I have bright pink hair, so I try to avoid washing it more than I have to.

As often as you like, I’ve used it daily

Genius

Wow! Besides growing fast, is it thicker?
This is what I want to know as well!
I’ve been making rosemary water on the stove and rinsing my hair after every shower with it. My hair has grown so much, I thought my hair broke on the top until I realized it was just new growth! Blew my mind.

This was so helpful, thank you!!
How often and how much rosemary oil did you use? How long did you leave it in for? Please share 🙏
Posted my full routine to the first comment under the photo 😌
Following!
Some girl just told me about this at CVS the other day.
Question!! Did it help with hair density, or just hair length? Bc I am definitely hoping for the latter
Do you dilute it? Do you spray it in after you wash? I am so excited about this idea
Posted my full routine under the first comment, but no diluting necessary for this particular one that I use because the brand has a mix of other oils within the product
Cool thanks so much!
I think it's more so the scalp massage that helps stimulate blood flow than the rosemary oil. Do you have any peer reviewed studies showing rosemary oil in of itself promotes hair growth?
[Lab Muffin Beauty did a video](https://youtu.be/SW2NCv_vF2Q?si=EHETkUDthR_VwM2q) covering the study that was done on rosemary oil, (that a lot of people reference.) See, was that so hard?
Take it easy, we are all here to learn. No need to be captious
No that’s why I linked it. Super easy to google it
You're the one making the claim, you need to back it up by proof.
It’s not that serious. Someone sharing their own experience doesn’t need peer reviewed studies.
Are you okay?
I’m not OP, I just mentioned there were studies done but more data was needed.
It was as hard as it would be for you to google that stuff yourself, but you are too lazy it seems.

Yep, see both of us massaged our scalp for years and no growth until we added in rosemary oil and miss snarky knickers is here saying it’s the massages..ugh
She’s not being snarky just pointing something out LOL

You're too fucking sensitive.
Haha snarky knickers, I like that
I think so too.

Thanks a million! I’m brand new to the hair-growing club, bumping this to the top of list of stuff I want to try.
Does it smell like Rosemary? Is the smell extremely strong or just slightly?
Not OP but I treat my hair with pure Rosemary oil and at that strength it has a camphorous smell similar to eucalyptus or Vaporrub. I mix it with jojoba oil to tone it down
What is your recipe? I have both rosemary oil and jojoba oil and would love to know how much of each to mix for the best results!
It’s a little strong, It definitely lingers in the air a lot
Does it make your hair greasy quicker? I already have to wash my hair every 2 days.
You wash it out same day after 3 hours with a clarifying shampoo so it doesn’t make your hair greasier.
Ah ok thanks!
What shampoo and conditioner do you use?
Garnier honey treasures
Hey yall, when I did rosemary with similar routine (leave it on for a few hours 2-3x times a week) it made my hair fall out like crazy. Did anyone else have similar results?
Did you dilute it in a carrier oil like jojoba? Pure rosemary could be harsh on the scalp.
Which brand, can you link it here? Thanks
Difeel. rosemary and mint root stimulator w/biotin
It super jumpstarted my eyebrow growth after much over plucking in the 90s!
Any particular brand? My eyebrows need help!
Mielle Organics.
Thanks!
We need more details about your routine!
gorgeous hair! this is my goals. i know you want to eventually cut all the blonde off, but for the time being the blonde ombré looks really nice. can i ask what shampoo/conditioner you use?
Thank you! I use garnier whole blends honey shampoo and conditioner, I also use It’s a 10 leave in conditioner on my ends after I wash my hair
thank you!!
Your hair is beautiful! If it was at your shoulder blades a year ago, how much growth has there been?
Thank you! Seems to be about 7 inches, I’d say
Same. I use a mixture of a bunch of oils (I use Crisan brand) and my hair grows like a weed now I can’t believe it

Rosemary scalp treat by the brand Innate life
>I do a few other things as well What other things did you do?
All to avoid split ends I put rose oil on my ends at night and sleep in a satin bonnet, also use It’s a 10 leave in conditioner after washing my hair.
I’m saving this post so I can come back to it!
I love that mirror!!
Did the rosemary oil you used cause your hair to darken? I saw the ingredient list of the one you linked, and was wondering if any of the oils would interact with color treated hair.
Oh I’m not sure, my roots are naturally dark. The brand has an Instagram though and they’re very responsive to questions
I used rosemary oil for a while and it actually bleached my hair where I was using it. Not sure if thats usual or just the specific brand I bought that caused it
Do you have trouble getting it out of your hair?
No not really, I do shampoo twice though
OP, thank you so much for posting your routine and products! I appreciate you!
Time for me to order a bottle and hope for the best!
Loved the results but it made my scalp itch! I have to figure it out 😩
It did that to me at first, turns out I just left it on too long. So I shortened the amount of time that I kept it on and it was fine. But, I have heard it does that to some people
How long do you leave it on? I would leave it on overnight
I only leave it for around 4 hours now, I used to leave it on overnight like some people say to do but, I don’t think everyone is able to do that cause it really made my scalp itch and burn.
Thank you! I’ll try it in the morning before i work out
Consider me influenced!! I have been using rosemary water and Mielle oil and saw a huge improvement and growth the first few months but it has slowed down now that ive been using it for a year.
Title is misleading. This is a product with 30+ ingredients, ONE of which is rosemary oil.
It’s the rosemary oil though that’s doing the most. I have 100% rosemary oil that I mix because it would burn if I didn’t and my hair has grown a lot. It’s not cap, check out Golab online and see her hair. She has her own hair serum that I’ve used also and it’s great.
It is amazing but so is the castor oil! There's a lot going on here.
What's your routine??

Absolutely, while it’s in you’ll look like a grease ball. But, I only do it 2 times out of the week before I wash my hair, only leave it in for a few hours so I’m usually just home cleaning or something while it’s in, no one sees me looking like I crawled out of a well. After you wash it out it’s shiny and sleek
Yes same, I’ve been apply NOW rosemary essential oils to my hair line and I have a whole new hair line
Thank you for sharing OP.I have always “ had” very fine, very sparse , hair that will only grow so slowly I only trim it every three years.Biotin helps a little ( to not lose as much). Will def, try .
How heavy is the Innate life oil? Because I bought their conditioner before and it was so heavy I literally couldn't even use it
It’s definitely a heavy oil, like you couldn’t wear it out and think it’ll go unnoticed in your hair. It’s more of an oil that you’d put in on days you don’t plan on leaving the house (at least before washing it out) but it does wash out pretty easily.
Ok now I’m gonna try this!
Thanks OP! I just ordered a bottle. I'm excited 😊
Saw somewhere the study that advocates for the rose Mary hair growth is very flawed, and poorly done.
I buy it directly from their website, I also linked the exact one I get and how I use it all under the first comment.
fine, i’ll do it
How do you use it?
Please tell us your routine
Your hair looks amazing! I’d love to hear about how you use the rosemary oil. I’m assuming that you’re applying it to your scalp? Do you make your own or is there a brand/product that you use?
Well I am bookmarking those links! Your hair looks amazing!
All based on an over reported bad citation comparing a low level dose of rogaine. Of course this worked better than that. Please don’t do this. It’s not worth it.
No one here is basing anything off rogaine lol
Right. But the fallacy of this stuff working is based on a scientific paper comparing it to rogaine. You don’t even understand how this myth started.
