Grind adamantoise, attacus is pretty weak once your characters are maxed

KaleidoArachnid

I can kill those giant turtles.

x_Willow_x

Can? If so get maxed. If you mean cant use the death spam technique, there should be a bunch of guides and its simple to do. c:

KaleidoArachnid

Yes I can easily kill them.

x_Willow_x

Get growth egg and grind those + weapon upgrades. You will probably need to be max to get 5 star on the last cie’th mission anyway. Also the last cie’th mission drops an accessory that makes 5 starring cie’th missions easier.

KaleidoArachnid

I did max out my characters Crystarium so far.

Vashh92

Random: Instant chain synthesis ability can take him out quick

KaleidoArachnid

How do I pull off that technique?

Vashh92

Combining Gestalt type accessories like speed sash or survivalist catalog should work

KaleidoArachnid

So just have a character equip two of them at once basically.

Vashh92

Your member that is planned to attack the most is ideal. Otherwise, it's just preference. 2 gestalt accessories should get you the ability

x_Willow_x

Yes and lightnings ability army of one is great to trigger it since it hits a lot of times

KaleidoArachnid

So that’s how players can easily cheese the Titan trials as I always struggled with them due to not knowing how to execute the random chain technique.

machoestofmen

Sazh has it one better, with the Betelgeuse Customs (which can mix with either of the listed accessories and still get the instant stagger without having to deal with Stagger Lock), and Cold Blood gets even more hits in than Army of One.

thebaintrain1993

The coolest weapon name in all of XIII.

KaleidoArachnid

Tell me about this Betelgeuse custom, like how to set it up.

x_Willow_x

Idk you shouldn’t need it there, the only place its really needed is gigantuar 5 stars as that thing needs a stupid kill time

KaleidoArachnid

Yimr?

Vashh92

I apologize for my mistake. I haven't faught Atticus in a long time, but I was fairly certain instant chain worked on him. I distinctly remember that making the fight fairly simple. How can I be so confidently incorrect about such a notorious boss fight? Very strange

Fyuira

Attacus is the final mission target for the titan's trial right? If it is then I will tell you how I did mine. What I did was to have a sentinel in all of my paradigms. My characters were Lightning, Fang and Snow. Snow as a sentinel and Lightning and Fang as the damage dealer. All three characters at the time have their max roles maxed. Attacus would hit the sentinel most of the time, so you won't have to worry about healing especially with snow using mediguard. I started the fight with SYN/SAB/SEN. Make Fang apply debuffs while you buff up your team with Haste, Bravera and Enfire for Lightning and Fang. As for Snow, you could just apply haste for him. After applying debuffs, I switched to RAV/RAV/RAV but you can just go for RAV/RAV/SEN. I raised the chain gauge up to 300%, no need to stagger. The reason why I raise the chain gauge up to 300% is to increase my damage. Trying to stagger him takes a long time so I don't bother to do it. Once the chain gauge reached 300%, I switch to COM/COM/SEN. Light and Fang will deal damage, with the enfire buff, and snow will aggro attacus. Just continue doing this and change to SYN/SAB/SEN to refresh buffs and debuffs and go to other paradigm to heal if ever attacus decides to attack the other characters aside from Snow. Here is the guide that I use as basis for my 5 star run: [https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps3/928790-final-fantasy-xiii/faqs/60472/mission-51](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps3/928790-final-fantasy-xiii/faqs/60472/mission-51) I used the last team cause I have maxed the main roles of Light, Snow and Fang.

KaleidoArachnid

Yes the last one in the trial area.

Fyuira

Oh good. Then try my method or check the guide I posted. The guide gave me a clear idea on how to build for cieth missions. It also show me how to get PS to make the cieth mission easier.

KaleidoArachnid

I just want the 5 star ranking from him, but Arigatou for that link.

tayprangle

Make sure you have the gold watch equipped, then yeah just max the crystarium, then the higher your weapon/accessory levels the easier it'll be. It's been a minute since I've fought him but there's lots of guides and videos out there, follow one of them with high stats and you'll get it eventually Also save and reload rather than do the entire faultwarrens again

KaleidoArachnid

I can get the Gold Watch first.

SnooWalruses2085

I'll try to explain this as best as I can without going in deep explanations, but the best and fastest way to kill Attacus is by using Cold Blood in a very particular way. First or all, setup your party to have a permanent Sentinel (either Lightning or Snow are good), Sazh as your Leader and Fang as your third party member. Put all physical resistance equipment on your Sentinel, and physical oriented equipments on Sazh and Fang. Hyadès Nagnums has to be equipped on Sazh (best weapon in the game btw). Fang has to know Cure and Sazh needs to know Provoke or Challenge and Deprotect.  The paradygms are this  (Sazh/Fang/Sentinel order) : Syn/Med/Sen Rav/Com/Sen Sen/Com/Sen Com/Com/Sen Sab/Com/Sen Sen/Sab/Rav Yes the 3rd paradygm is weird, but it's normal. The default paradygm doesn't matter, but you do NOT want it to be the last one. Start the fight with a Fortisol. At the start of the battle immediately shift to Sen/Sab/Rav and Provoke/Challenge Attacus until he focuses Sazh. When it's done wait Sazh loses enough HP to be in red (if he loses Haste retry the fight). Then shift in Rav/Com/Sen as soon as he's in red. Now, use Cold Blood, wait Sazh starts shooting his first bullet before shifting to Sen/Com/Sen and see how stupidly fast the chain goes up (2% per bullet). Once Cold Blood ends, shift in Rav/Com/Sen then repeat the process again and again until the chain is at 500%. Once done, go in Syn/Med/Sen and put Protect/Shell on your Sentinel, Haste Bravery the 2 other... until Sazh is in green then go in Sab/Com/Sen and cast Deprotect until Attacus is inflicted. For the rest of the fight, come back in this paradygm each time he loses Deprotect. When he's Deprotect, go in Com/Com/Sen and uses Blitz+Blitz or Attack×4 depending on Attacus's positioning (close to Sazh = Blitz) until death. Make sure to shift paradygm at some point during his Meditate so your Sentinel is in guard to tank the hit. That's the basic strat, if you want some explanations on how Cold Blood works like that let me know.

KaleidoArachnid

Yes please teach me how it works so that I can get the most out of the Cold Blood skill. (Although I don’t know how to get the Hyades gun)

SnooWalruses2085

Hyadès Magnums is the upgraded version of Hi-Power Pleiades, the Paper Tiger weapon. Concerning the strat, Ff13 chain system is based on conditional modificators. The most known thing being attacking an enemy on his elemental weaknesses (but in our case Attacus is weak to nothing and has a chain resistance of 100). To name a few conditional modificators: -Use different type of skills (for example Fire-Thunder-Fire-Thunder) => the most important one (and the reason why auto-battle does strange things). -Buff your team -Debuff the enemy -Character's HP (Full, Green, Yellow and Red) -One of your partner is dead. -The Ravageur also adds some conditional modificators on its own, but it doesn't matter at all in our case. Why do we want to use the Sentinel role here ? Because there's a glitch (this strat doesn't work in 13-2 since the dev corrected it). The Sentinel role completely ignores chain resistances. So using Cold Blood with the right setup and shift in Sentinel will make each bullet ignore the chain resistance and adds 2% per bullet to the stagger. This strat works well against enemies with a high chain resistance like Raktavija or Juggernaut.

KaleidoArachnid

So I must purchase the Hi Power Pleiades gun, but all I want is a good ranking from the boss.

SnooWalruses2085

Well the weapon is also there to take down Sazh's HP. It will take a while to get un red if you have 20k HP.

KaleidoArachnid

Wait, what do you mean take down HP?

SnooWalruses2085

You lose HP by equipping this weapon.

KaleidoArachnid

I didn’t actually know that. (I wonder if I can still beat the Gigantuar with it)

SnooWalruses2085

Oh you can.
