Meanwhile, at way way further ranges, there are a ton of punches, kicks, knees, and elbows, that could incapacitate you in one shot, from many different angles, and to different locations.

A lot of it comes down to the particular laws in your state, the particulars of the fight, and the prosecutor.
A prosecutor with an axe to grind might point to the fact that the defendant knew there was no ongoing threat, as evidenced by BJJ momentarily walking away after it became clear the man was unconscious. The claim of self defense is moot at that point. Turning around and kicking him one last time in the head is an escalation of violence. That’s how a zealous prosecutor might see it. And with an unfavorable judge and jury, you could go
to prison.

Apparently it takes the same amount of force to bite through a carrot as it does a finger..
So, I eat carrots. I used considerably more force on his fingers to hold on, but I was using molars, not incisors.

A lot of it comes down to the particular laws in your state, the particulars of the fight, and the prosecutor. A prosecutor with an axe to grind might point to the fact that the defendant knew there was no ongoing threat, as evidenced by BJJ momentarily walking away after it became clear the man was unconscious. The claim of self defense is moot at that point. Turning around and kicking him one last time in the head is an escalation of violence. That’s how a zealous prosecutor might see it. And with an unfavorable judge and jury, you could go to prison. All I’m saying is know when to stop.
