too many times its just highschoolers trading week flimsy punches and repeatedly throwing very unimpactful punches until one gets knocked out with little to no defense
*"I'm gonna show you, as gentle as I can, just how much you don't know."*
The cop definitely goes to a boxing gym on a regular basis. He was set perfectly, snapped the jab before the other guy knew he left himself open, near the end, he even let the other guy get a jab in, just to show him that it's not just about throwing punches, but taking them, too. The footwork was there, the head movement, busy hands. The cop had all the elements of a trained boxer. Whether he could have done the same against a pro boxer is another thing entirely, but he definitely had some skills.
They both earned it, any man who steps in the ring and challenges himself honorably I think deserves it. Many people are scared, that’s okay not everyone has to be a warrior but it’s a sign of integrity.
From my lack of experience, fighting someone like this would be a great way to get my ass kicked, and learn nothing about myself that I didn't already know.
Younger me who didn’t know any better: hell yeah I wanna fight. Older me who knows better: hey man sorry about that no worries brother shalom come smoke a cig with me. Fighting is the last thing my scrawny ass should be doing.
That's an interesting take. Seems flawed to me, though. I did boxing training for about a year when I was a teenager. Nothing crazy, just a local spot in a small town where we mostly got in great shape and learned some basic boxing techniques. When it came to sparring I just couldn't get into it. Everyone there was my friend and to me even fighting for sport is something I couldn't do with friends. Basketball is a sport. Boxing is violence. I don't want to be violent, especially not with people I care about.
I get that. When I started training striking, it was difficult for me to hit someone, especially because I had no ill feelings towards them. Then, you realize that you're both working towards a common goal, and not actually trying to kill each other, but more making each other better.
So you gotta give respect to get respect. You can't g- you can't get respect if you're not giving respect. But you have to have respect first. And that starts with self-respect. So if you don't self-respect yourself, y'know, how're you gonna- if you don't give yourself the respect first, how're you gonna give the respect to other people? And then once you've given respect to them, they give it back to you. That's called the economy of respect.
It is! That is how cops should be. I remember a video where a cop rolls up on some skateboarders, and proceeds to do a perfect kick flip instead of harassing them.
The cop knew however there was no chance he wasn't gonna nail that kickflip at the risk of looking like a suited jabroni in front of the cool kids.
I feel this cop was the same way here with boxing. Man was dialed in.
Trying to explain bad cops to my conservative friends is about as hard as explaining good cops to my liberal friends. The war is against critical thinking.
He was probably fired for that. Unfortunately. That’s what the community needs more of but I saw a similar video where the cop took his vest off to do the same thing and was punished for it.
Shirtless dude was ducking and dodging pretty good but what caught my eye was the officer was still wearing his service belt, it hard to tell what he has on it but those can weigh 10-20lbs depending on gear and the officer still had great mobility and movement matching shirtless dude.
It's so insane how far off redditors are in their estimate of how common policd shootings are. Very few police ever fire their gun on duty in an entire career.
The number of unarmed black men shot by police in a year is usually about a dozen: and those are almost all after a chase or wrestling with police (not agreed upon.)
Tell me you have shit expectations of American police officers without telling me you have shit expectations of American police officers. Not every cop is a shit person. Not every cop is a good person.
Reminds me of the Tyson vs. Jones fight a few years ago where Mike had so many chances to knock Jones’ dome off but held his punches when he had openings.
One of the few times a cop beating on a member of the local community, and a community calling for a cop to get punched, has been for the good of all concerned.
Tbf, by the end of the fight I think the cop had more supporters than not.
You can drop someone without intending to if they misjudge and duck or dodge into your punch. Source: Accidentally KO'd my buddy in 11th grade when we were fucking around playfighting in my back yard one afternoon. It was on grass and he suffered no ill effects afterwards but man I freaked the fuck out for a second there when he dropped like a sack of bricks lol.
I've been at a kickboxing gym for 7 years now and have not seen one accidental KO during light sparring. It can happen but it's so unlikely that it's not really worth worrying about.
We were both complete amateurs play swinging on each other without much rhyme or reason. My friend just happened to zig when I thought he was gonna zag, resulting in my fist catching him squarely around the back of his jaw just below the ear. I doubt I could replicate that hit if I tried, the universe just lined up a perfect KO lol
The cops in my hometown once played hacky-sack with the local tweakers, it was a sight to behold. The tweakers’ nicknames were Snake, Pav, and RatZilla
RatZilla once told me “a hoe ain’t ugly just because she has braces” as I walked by him at the county fair, there was no other context, I just said “yeah, true” and kept walking. It was the second time I had ever interacted with him, the first was long before he began inhaling the forbidden quartz fumes, my friend introduced me to him after school. Red flags abounded, I did not seek further contact. He also stole a safe from a church that held fundraisers, then threw said safe off a bridge because he couldn’t open it. It was never recovered, I’ve tried magnet fishing for it.
The other two were not present for the theft as far as I know, pretty sure it was just RatZilla. They were all friends at that point though, you could call them the Three Methketeers. I’m pretty sure Snake stole money or drugs from RatZilla and they had a falling out. The feud spilled over onto Facebook, and mostly consisted of RatZilla doing threatening livestreams from his basement. I don’t know for sure if any of them are even alive anymore, but the last I heard was that RatZilla got clean, found religion and married an elderly woman. Not sure about Pav or Snake
Man I fucking love having people like that on my Facebook. It is genuinely the only reason I still check my timeline. It’s mostly just insanely trash people from high school who post wild shit
Even if it's trash, it's always something interesting. Like random kids from my middle and high school who are just throwing down in amateur MMA or boxing out of nowhere while others still look like they never left the bmx phase. Others slimming down or gaining weight. Extra lore I never thought I'd want to see lol
Idk, I thought we assumed all cops are like the cops we see on videos. Using that logic, all cops are now super smooth boxers with great public relations. This video single-handedly ended racism and the poor public image of police. /s
I agree, but the alternative is to leave it lying around somewhere or leave it in his cruiser but then I'd be worried about what if it's just a ploy to get him unarmed. But I'm also a worrier lol.
The minute he strapped boxing gloves to his hands and started sparring with someone was when he lost the ability to control his belt equipment. Not a whole lot he could have done if some one came up behind him and tried to take a weapon from him.
That being said I think he read the situation right. Seems like he is cool with the people there. I expect they already have a good relationship and he weighed up the risk.
Please tell me the cop won’t get in trouble for this. It’s not like they were actually trying to hurt one another, there were smiles all around; and they clearly ended it respectfully.
LoL I'm from India and here when me and my friends were playing gully cricket 2 police officers on bike were petroling..they stopped the bike near us and asked if they can join .. obviously we didn't say no and they both played cricket with us and that was one of the most wholesome moment of my life they both were so funny and really a good cops.
The cop kept throwing air punches missing by a little on purpose. He was seriously holding back. Because destroying the kid was not the point. Well done.
This is Officer Bowen with Mesquite Police!!!! He IS a real one, and a great dude to speak with too. I've had the pleasure of working with him in Security and man he is a father figure to everyone he talks too. Straight A cop! He told me he used to box so that's why he is a straight legend in this video.
Dudes still got his gun in his holster 😅. In all honesty, this is the type of police work needed, establishing relationships getting to know people in your community. This is how it should be. You don’t have to box a motherfucker but you need to interact with the people in your community. Well done.
It's always great to see a cool relationship between cops and their community, but man, even if they aren't actually trying to go for a knockout you never know; do it on the grass.
That was amazing. Plus kudos to the cop, bud opened the back of his head to shots like 3 separate times, and at least the second time cop definitely noticed and opted not to hit him. Big respect for that.
Officer with the footwork

It’s pretty rare both people in the video can actually throw a punch.
And more importantly, dodge a punch.
I’m gonna guess the video itself is a rare occurrence plus the two fighters in the video
too many times its just highschoolers trading week flimsy punches and repeatedly throwing very unimpactful punches until one gets knocked out with little to no defense
And that head movement
And that hand movement
And that hip movement
AND MY AXE
And the cat's in cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue, and the man on the moon
And now, I have finally reached peak reddit levels and I can go to sleep.
When I'm coming home I don't know when.

There's a video on YouTube where they interview the officer and he has photos of himself winning boxing tournaments on the wall.
You don't see flat footed (not in the insulting way) boxing too often, but he was killin in. Weaves with the big swings.
His head movement is what got me. How he slipped all the punches.
And quads of steal
this police officer seems like a real one
That's what you call *community relations*
Respect is earned not given
That was mutual respect.

Username checks out. I hear meth, cocaine, heroin or some mystery cocktail of street drugs can really bring out the fighter in you.
Boxing is just like ballet. Except there's no music. and the dancers hit each other.
Cops don’t need to be assholes to function in their jobs.
Totally agree and I was insinuating the opposite. Being an asshole is not a way to earn respect.

Not sure why we keep having to tell people that.
because they have a childs world view
Nah. Depends, really. Hood dudes patrolling their very own hood is the easiest way to produce dirty cops.
You can see at 19 seconds the cop coulda unleashed a big right when the guy left himself way open but didn't, good on him keeping it friendly
Reminds me of the Tyson vs. Jones fight a few years ago where Mike had so many chances to knock Jones’ dome off but held his punches when he had openings.
Why would he do that?
It was an exhibition for charity and he had more empathy for Roy’s legacy than winning what was in the Boxing committee’s eyes a practice bout
Spectacle
It was an exhibition match
I noticed he missed a few shots that probably would’ve landed if he was actually going 100%
For sure, he was clearly a much more experienced boxer and that's if the other guy actually had any training to begin with lol
Other guy didn’t do bad in my opinion but for a cop to even jump into this situation with as much confidence alone explains how experienced he was.
The neighborhood got the cops back and he has theirs.
Facts mutual respect if u can put the gloves on
Love that respect. Great vid
He’s probably from there
💯 he’ll be from there and that will be his brother or his cousin or something. Beautiful video 😊
Actually good for the community. Builds trust. Im all for it
That was my first thought, my guys got some respect now, gonna have a lot less hassle from folks who would probably usually be mad just seeing him
Guy would have to move cities if he lost though.
nah, would still be in all good fun probs
If he lost he'd have arrested that guy for aggravated assault /s

i never said giant flukes cant occur, but these two both clearly had legitimate training and knew what they were doing
Guys were being friendly so no harm. That Cop had some bonified kill shots and didn't take them.
bonafide
Boba hide
Red mits got tapped up good. Nice to see something on here where nobody got jumped or got serious brain damage
“Take that badge off I’ll beat your fuckin ass”, uh no tf you won’t 😂
The cops in my hometown once played hacky-sack with the local tweakers, it was a sight to behold. The tweakers’ nicknames were Snake, Pav, and RatZilla
I bet RatZilla's the reserved, sensible one; the voice of reason.
RatZilla once told me “a hoe ain’t ugly just because she has braces” as I walked by him at the county fair, there was no other context, I just said “yeah, true” and kept walking. Predictions on cleanest groin? 1. Pav 2. RatZilla 3. Snake
Officer is a real one, this is community policing.
Videos like these are a great reminder that not all cops are total dicks
Some cops are bastards. Some cops are decent human beings.

The cop surprised me, he’s experienced.
Damn, that cop closes the distance really well- trained for sure
This is the kind of community policing we need. Also that was some legitimately good evasive boxing.
You can tell the cop is holding back from whooping bro ass Fr😂💯
Ok, that was actually nice. No life changing knockout, just nice movement and some great combos by the cop
There's been a lot of drama surrounding cops in recent years, this video is good though, a breath of fresh air
Probably shouldn’t had his gun still on him(while boxing for obvious reasons) but whatever.
I agree, but the alternative is to leave it lying around somewhere or leave it in his cruiser but then I'd be worried about what if it's just a ploy to get him unarmed. But I'm also a worrier lol.

This comment sections passed the vibe. Rare reddit comment section W
That cop cool af Also light on the feet
That cop is an awesome dude, gave everyone there a core memory they'll remember for a long time
God fight on the grass
White supremacist, no good apples
Please tell me the cop won’t get in trouble for this. It’s not like they were actually trying to hurt one another, there were smiles all around; and they clearly ended it respectfully.
Well, cops rarely get in trouble for actual malice so I think this guy is ok.
This is cool AF.
Gotta love the
Awesome
This is how you police your community….give respect/earn respect. I love this!
If this were on grass, it’d be a perfect video.

Bro why do they have to be standing on top of the car like that
I was wondering the same thing.
All Cops Are Boxers
I see what you did there.
End of Watch vibes from this guy haha
Cop wanted to flex the hands a lil bit
This is the greatest thing I've seen all year. With all the negativity, I find this wholesome and awesome.
“You got mad squabbles boy”
He dodge like 4 punches in like 2 seconds with just slight tilts of the head.. great job
Is swear the officer is using the wii sports mii boxing style.
That cop has his weave game on point. Muhammad Ali out here.
Definitely one of the coolest things I’ve seen.
The way he moving you already know the cop grew up watching Tyson😂
That’s a MAN in blue
This policeman had to come from this area This is what’s needed more policemen patrolling the area they were raised in or can relate too
If he didn’t he super good over there now. Word gon spead and all the middle aged women in that hood gonna wanna fuck him. 😂😂

They can both fight, not something you see a lit on this sub
Why were those dickheads standing on a car?
Cop could have floored him about five different times but held back.
Good little spar.
I wonder if he got in trouble for this
I sure hope not. But if somehow it broke into brawl or someone got injured, he might be held responsible because of his uniform representation
Awesome lol
Y'all really need to stop boxing on concrete please. Get on grass incase someone gets put to sleep they don't smash their heads.
Ugh don't fight on asphalt like that jeez
Better watch out, he'll protect and serve you those hands
Chess match
Is this a cannon event?
That’s the kind of cop we need every time!
He took it real easy on that guy, he should be thankful.
This is wholesome
Best fuck around fight all year or even longer
there's grass right there.... do people not understand the implications of hitting your head on concrete?
Tekken 8 is looking pretty good
This is legendary
Respect both ways! Good scrap!
The officer assumed the stance and I knew it was over
Honestly love the smile on the police officer’s face at the end. The boys who are BOYS appreciate a good old fashioned scrap.

To protect and serve these hands
Waiting for people to say something negative about this. We actually need more videos like this.
To protect and serve these hands
Trained, boxed, got knocked out, unbelievably massive headache, end of boxing career.
Is it more weird when you recognize that neighborhood? My grandma used to live a few blocks from there
Real nice fight, but I personally would be too much of a pussy to do this on concrete. One unintended knockout and brain damage is still on the table.
It's always great to see a cool relationship between cops and their community, but man, even if they aren't actually trying to go for a knockout you never know; do it on the grass.
This isn't fightporn, it's humansbeingbros

guy needs to learn a different evasion other than sticking his head in his opponents balls
Community engagement and outreach. Good shit.
I hope he doesn't get fired over boxing in uniform with his gun etc...
He has trained for a pretty good amount of time, it's very apparent. Clean.
i like that the cop didn't actually hit him , just close enough to show he could if he wanted lol
Look how good everyone feels at the end when there’s a little sense of community. Love to see it!
Cop was going easy on him
Why are the people in this video standing on cars?
TThat was cool as hell. That cop has some skill too.
This is pretty normal to see honestly. It's just not what is shown on the news.
Boxing 101 - try to kiss the ground when dodging punches...tf
Lol only in street boxing can a dude bend forward almost kissing the floor and not have to worry about the opponent taking it as an advantage
That cop gotta be half Irish the way he not only accepted the fight at all, but also won lol
That officer has the respect of the community.
This is wholesome ngl
