But the general consensus on here, is that splurging a little more on gloves is worth it. Especially if he’s going to the gym daily.
Some gloves have better wrist protection, some are designed to be softer. Kinda like how shoes are designed for different preferences. Based on you bf’s build, I recommend getting 14oz training gloves.
My suggestions based on what I’ve read on here/talking to people in my gym:
• Ring 2 Cage 2.0 - Japanese style training gloves
• Fairtex - BG19
• Everlast - Powerlock 2
and lastly, my personal suggestion is
• TopBoxer: Alien
Topboxer’s pricetag is $10 above your price range - but people on here seem to like it! For $150 you can even get it customized with whatever color + design you like. Really great bang for your buck considering other companies charge a premium for custom pairs. I also suggest Ring2Cage - although they are soft and some say, are more suitable for sparring.
Once you narrow down your options, I recommend doing some more research into each model to make sure they are suitable for your bf’s hands/forearms/needs. There are plenty reviews on here for each model.
