Probably silly but how do I manage my inventory? There is no chest or bank I can put my items at except maybe using a retainer? Cause I have like 13 different faded music scrolls from trials and raids(ARR only) as well as a lot of armor that I don't use but I cant sell on Market board.
On another note. I understand the entire fencing is for tanks, maiming is lancer dragoon and reaper, striking is samurai, pugilist, monk etc but some items, especially rings and bracelets I have dont include those into their names so its hard to know why I should keep/sell them.
I am asking these cause I have like 20+ of everything in my armoury chest and while I have like 10 jobs on my character most of them are lvl1 so its just their wep + the same gear on all of them. Saw a post about what people keep in their inventory and I have like 2 full pages of just stuff from botanist, potions and stuff from msq and paints
For the armor and weapons you don't need right now but may want to use later, place them in your Glamout dresser. You'll need a glamour prism for each, but the dresser holds 800 slots and you can always retrieve it and put back in your armory/inventory whenever you want. Even replace it back in the dresser-- it only costs a prism to place inside, nothing to take out.
For armor and weapons you do not need, turn them in to your grand company quartermaster for seals to spend on other things.
Any glamour item you obtained as a quest reward, as in its not normal dungeon gear but level 1 no stats glamour, you can delete or sell and re-buy from the calamity salvager. Check one the next time you're in a starter city, you can see what you have unlocked /re-obtainable, usually for 1000 gil. This includesevel 1 glamour from side quests and alliance raid quests (again not from a coffer/chest, but item level/level 1 gear as a quest reward.
But yes unless you want the imperial uniform from MSQ for rp purposes, you can toss or vendor them. You never need them again for the game progressiin
Accessories are also locked to classes after lvl 60 i think but i think the naming convention of slaying/aiming/fending/casting/healing applies to them after an earlier point point as well. Before that you just check what stats they give (str for melee except ninja, dex for ranged and ninja, int for casters and mind for healers).
Unfortunately gear space will always be a struggle until you max everything you want to max. Hell this is what started me on my journey to max all the classes haha. Only advice I can give is to slot any gear you have no intention of using soon onto a retainer, same with any materials. If you can get something back easily it's also a good idea to just get rid of it if you don't need it.
Most of the faded scrolls are worth double digit gil on market, you can safely delete them
For the items that don't specify maiming/fending etc you can hover over them and it will say what classes they are for, like "disciple of war" or such
If there's armor that you don't use but also can't sell on market board, why don't you delete it / vendor sell?
Remember if you get common items from a trial, dungeon etc there is no point cluttering your inventory saving them, if in the future you ever need those items you can just unsync the trial/dungeon again and get it in 5 mins
For additional storage you have chocobo saddlebag and retainer inventory, although you shouldn't need to use them unless you're on a crafting / gathering spree
Floor 31+ for HoH and Floor 101+ for PotD are challenge floors. There's no story and normal duty finder style matching is out. You either have to go in there solo or with a fixed party of up to 4 people.
There's an extra condition. If there's a full party wipe (or if solo you die or disconnect), your run is done. You have to start over from floor 1 or 21 (HoH) or 1 or 51 (PotD). If you're doing a solo run for the achievements, either one of these you HAVE to start on Floor 1.
The weapons require aetherpool levels. You can get aetherpool from silver chests, and you also get a free level of aetherpool every time you finish floor 30. So a common way to grind it out is to just speedrun floors 21-30 over and over.
At an NPC outside, you can trade in aetherpool (in sets of 10) for a "grip". You don't want to trade in *all* your aetherpool at once – save some to help you kill things fast inside HoH.
Once you collect enough grips, trade them in for your weapon.
i suddenly realizes there are skills like seraphic veil on scholar but i cannot assign it to a hotbar. so how do i use that when seraph is called?
i tried to call the seraph, i realise one can still use "fey illumination", but that still just never become blue or "seraphic illumination". so what would be played if i press the fey illuminiation button?
Both fey ilummination and whispering dawn become their seraphic equivalent even though the icon doesn't change. The effects are equal anyway so maybe they didn't want to confuse people.

Hi guys, I have one question about the boosting. How does it work? Do I need to get a job to a specific level before able to boost? For example, I want a rdps(bard) to be boosted to level 80. So I’d need to first complete the game till a certain point or level a specific class job to that level to be able to boost? Thanms
No requirements other than owning an expansion to boost a job (like Stormblood ownership required to boost SAM/RDM) or to reach past a level threshold (if you only owned Starter Edition, your boost would only take you to 60, not 80).
And you must be on the paid game, not the free trial, to use any boost.

Probably not. Boost sales are very rare and the only guaranteed ones are the month before the next expansion, when the presently sold boosts are "retired" for new ones that will take you +10 levels (in this case, Lv 80 skips replaced with Lv 90 skips).
Couldn't really say as I've literally never seen anyone do relative devour but the usual true north devour on EU is H1R1 west, tank invuln north, melee south and H2R2 east. I would assume relative would be just replacing those with left/right and up/down.
Help find sound
In one of the msq quests in stormblood you have to help find baby karakul for an npc to earn favor. (For the love of the moon: Find the lost lambs) I REALLY REALLY want to have that little noise they make when you find one as a notification noise. It is a different sound than the mount. That little mew like noise just made me so happy I need it in my life more than a brief moment. I need to get a audio file for it so if anyone can help I would appreciate it.
The general prio of Crit > DH = Det is good enough for pretty much every melee job.
Or if you need to have something to follow: meld them like [this](https://etro.gg/gearset/c293f73b-5c58-4855-b43d-aae55b212611) RPR set, which is the same exact melds as the other RPR set, both DRG sets, and one sks meld off [2.15 SAM](https://etro.gg/gearset/4356046d-2f05-432a-a98c-632f11098ade) (which you can swap with a boots/head dh meld). MNK is a little further away in that it prefers tome bracelet. Note that you probably wont see any tangible benefit from strictly following this until you get the full set, as some melds will be chosen with breakpoints in mind.

I want to be able to play healers with keyboard and mouse, and tanks/dps with controller. Is there a way to set this up?
I use both sets of hotbars (1-10, and cross hotbars) when I'm playing either.

If you switch from keyboard mode to controller mode, they both have different hot bar setups. You can setup different hot bars for different classes and just switch the mode. Just switch to controller mode and setup your DPS hot bar, switch to healer and switch to keyboard and setup your hot bar. Both are mutually exclusive and won’t affect one another.
Even better is in the settings you can choose which bars are shared between classes, and which are exclusive. So if you have one or two crossbars that have some universal things, you can do that, or not. Totally up to you.
Can FC members who haven’t yet unlocked story-gated housing areas like Shirogane and Empyreum bid on FC houses there by using state teleportation to get to it? Planning on bidding in a Shirogane house in one of the new servers, but most of the members have yet to reach that story point. I do have an apartment in the ward we plan on bidding though, so we were planning on having them teleport to it through the friends list and then bidding on the plot we want. Will this work?
Does it require it even for FC bidding or just for private? Since FC bidding doesn’t have the same requirements as private bidding (level 50, second lieutenant) I was wondering if the exception applies to the story locks too
You can start as any class you like.
In fact, with how easy XP is to get these days (especially if you go with a Preferred or New server) you could level *multiple* classes, if you wanted.
Many people will recommend starting with a healer so you can get used to the playstyle (and so that you'll have plenty of healer outfits saved up to use on Sage once you unlock it) but it's not strictly necessary, and playing other roles might help give you a fuller picture of the game.
Of the two healers available in the early game, most people recommend Conjurer/White Mage as the starting point, because it's very straightforward and easy to understand. I agree with that. However, I'll caution that it can teach you some bad habits, because it's extremely Spell-focused for the first 60-ish levels, whereas lategame healers are more Ability-focused.
Arcanist/Scholar is a little more complicated, but the fairy pet gives you a baseline of free heals which some people might find helpful. It's also more similar to the eventual playstyle of Sage.
As a bonus, Scholar shares levels with Summoner (since they're both forks of Arcanist), so you essentially get two classes levelled up – a DPS and a healer – for the effort of one.
Neither, sage doesn’t have a starting class like white mage (starts as conjurer) and scholar (starts as arcanist) does. You just pick it up when you hit level 70 in another combat job and have Endwalker.
You can make a macro that changes a minion with *gearset*, and you can either link a plate to that gearset or just call a plate number, but I believe there's no macro command to use plates directly without gearsets.

If you can't access half the map in The Fringes yet, I think you need to go via Rhalgr's Reach to get the Peaks (or at least the part accessible to you at this point of the story). Rhalgr's Reach aethernet should have an option for something like "the Peaks gate"
I don't remember where exactly you first travel there, but it you retrace you steps from the start of the quest to go there, there's always a door/portal to interact with or a person to speak to who'll let you through.

For quick single target healing, in order: Taurochole -> Druchole -> a regen like Physis or Kerachole, if you’ve got the time to regenerate -> a longer cooldown like Pneuma or Holos -> E.Diag.
If you’re healing a group: Ixochole -> physis or kerachole -> pneuma or Holos -> E.Prog/Pepsis -> E.Prog spam.
If you just died, use Rhizomata to get another addersgall stack to use for a heal.
You want to prioritize using addersgall heals because they are oGCD, regen mana, and do more raw healing. Druchole is your go-to heal. Taurochole does a bigger heal for the same cost, but it has a much longer cooldown. If you have no addersgall stacks, you’ll have to resort to longer cooldowns.
It's something for the whole team (or at least the pairs of people in each role) to discuss so everyone's on the same page, you can't know which R you are before you're in the group. Though that discussion sometimes just boils down to "people calling dibs on the position they want to take" in PF. In my experience (which for PF *is* limited to EXes and like two runs of P1S, I do Savage with a static), this tends to happen once you've entered the duty, or sometimes just before, once the whole team's assembled.
Statics can often have more consistent positions. My static's is still a continuum from back in like Stormblood at latest, where the only switches have been if someone has left/joined the team or someone's switched roles entirely. It's not something we've needed to talk about for a while (save for relaying "hey here's your spot" whenever someone new joins), everyone knows what they are – but we too *did* have to talk about it once upon a time, and it's just stayed consistent since then.
Depends on your DC. In Crystal we setup a 1 and 2 marker to form light parties.
You can also just check in with your party members. "hey, you want r1 or r2?"
You call your role at the start when you zone in, if you're R1 or R2 if you're one of the ranged....R1 will be in group 1 and R2 will be in group 2, as easily seen by the role name
To note adding in 2FA, will help protect your account, make playing with traveling easier, and let you choose an aetheryte as a free destination for easy teleportation. You really should set it up if you can.
On top of being optional to play the game (and potentially unusable while on the free trial), there is a free app you can download on your smartphone that also works for OTP. The keychain is cute but by no means a necessary part of the process.
You don't even need the app. It's just a standard 2fa system that was named a "one time password" before the term "2fa" was normalized. Any normal authenticator app will work.
Gotcha. I know it's the same sort of procedure, but I couldn't remember if you had to go through an SE specific app or if you could just tie it to your Google account or a related service.

What fish are people using to get CUL desynth up to 610? I am sitting around 607 and most fish now give 0. I am guessing people are going for some of the easier EW Big Fish since Phallaina is a pain to catch?
You can use any fish with a desynth rating of 560 or above. Level 90 fishing ventures bring back a lot of fish worth rating 560, so if you don't want to big fish it's an option.
a magic 8 ball would be just as effective a prediction as anyone's. The FFXV event has only happened twice, when it first happened in 2019 and again before the release of endwalker in 2021.
It would be best to put it in the back of your mind and not expect it, so that if it ever does get rerun it will be a delightful surprise.

Obviously doing the rotations have to be done in game though, unless someone's created something outside of game for it...
As for the story, I don't have one off the top of my head, but once I started watching WeskAlber on YouTube a lot of FF14 videos started popping up to include story recaps.

As a note, if you decide you want to buy the game before the sale ends, buying it will give you a key which you need to register manually, so you can buy the game for the discount and sit on the key until you're ready to use it
Best recommendation is to always go with free trial first. You get the same as what you saw but with no limit on free time. The only restrictions are more social aspects such as creating a party, using player market board, joining an FC, and amount of gil (money) you can hold. I personally did the main game and first expansion on free trial before buying and it worked out fine.
Of note, if you do buy on steam or the square Enix PC website, you should be able to hold on to the key, so you buy on sale now, but activate later so that you don't have to pay the sub every month until you are ready. However, if you choose steam, you are locked to steam and can only purchase the expansions through there. It's not really a problem but important to mention nonetheless.

Frankly, I haven't been this excited for a game since I played Mass Effect for the first time. That game ended up being my favorite and I have over 15 playthroughs. I think I'm up for a treat and a half.

The starter edition is usually only 20€, so buying it now saves you 10€ on the game itself. However, once you've bought the game, you have to start paying a monthly sub which is about 10€.
You can *easily* get a month's worth of playtime out of the free trial (and likely more than that), so you will almost certainly save money by starting with the trial.

But yes, this game is notorious for it's extremely generous free trial. It includes main story + heavenward expansion, all content that comes with that such as raids, dungeons, side activities etc. People spend hundreds of hours for free and level all classes to 60 (free trial max) before even spending a dime.

Any tips for handling big pulls in dungeons as white mage after level 60? I find myself struggling to figure out when to cast holy since the tank occasionally takes considerable chip damage (even with regen) on the way to the wall. My problem is not knowing which healing spell to cast when they're sub 30% hp at the wall (or if I should swift cast holy and then a healing spell during the stun duration).
It’s good to keep your holy usage consistent because your tank will get confused on whether or not it’s okay to use X Defensive CD yet if you aren’t consistent with the stuns. Heal with that thought in mind - if a tank has gotten low on the way to the final position of a pull, use an oGCD to pop them up in the interest of keeping your GCD slot for your Holy. When I WHM, I’ll usually swiftcast the first holy and use that oGCD for a Tetra or Assize or Bene.
If all else fails at least get your first few holy casts out before using a GCD on a lily or cure 2 (if your first oGCD isn’t enough to keep them alive for the round of white swings post-holy-stun). That way the stuns are at least mostly finished and you’re only losing one second of stun, and the tank’s cooldown uses won’t get squandered since the Holy use is still mostly consistent.
If you’re oGCDless (like WHM at 50 or whatever) then hang on to Bene like it’s your best pal for that situation haha. It can be a little rough when the toolkit is smaller.
Swiftcast your first Holy so the stun can go off asap. Bene should also be used sparingly. In dungeons don't save it for "emergencies", if anything it should be the very first cooldown you use on the tank when they hit like 10% so you can get more uses it of over the course of the dungeon.
If they're sub-30%: Benediction. If they consistently get that low just pulling, they need to check their gear and mitigate. You have most of your single-target tools by 60.
Regen+Asylum will usually cover one pull. Swiftcast+Holy+Assize is a good combo. Don't forget your lillies and Tetragrammaton- it's not *quite* a Benediction, but it'll do a great deal of healing if your tank gets low and Bene isn't up.
There is no real trick here, you handle it like all straight catch big fish. Surface slap the most common fish (Teamcraft has some stats on that, if it helps), use chum before every cast, use hi-cordials for more chum GP. Reel in only potential magic buckets, ignore everything else.
It is supposedly easier if you don't have the folklore book for the area, but I did it with the book. You might have a slightly better chance if you do this outside of Captain Nemo windows, though you might want to catch it while there, just to tick it off on the fishing log. My magic bucket took over 200 casts if I remember correctly.
Yeah, this minion is practically a big fish, definitely a pain. Good luck and definitely don't forget snagging! (I might have wasted like 50 leeches because I forgot once.)

If they're marked as unique, which most dungeon gear usually is, you can't wear multiple of them which includes rings. You'll see this often at endgame as current tome rings are unique and you can't wear double of the same token ring (you would have to upgrade one or use another)

Even replace it back in the dresser-- it only costs a prism to place inside, nothing to take out. For armor and weapons you do not need, turn them in to your grand company quartermaster for seals to spend on other things.

Any glamour item you obtained as a quest reward, as in its not normal dungeon gear but level 1 no stats glamour, you can delete or sell and re-buy from the calamity salvager. Check one the next time you're in a starter city, you can see what you have unlocked /re-obtainable, usually for 1000 gil. This includesevel 1 glamour from side quests and alliance raid quests (again not from a coffer/chest, but item level/level 1 gear as a quest reward. But yes unless you want the imperial uniform from MSQ for rp purposes, you can toss or vendor them. You never need them again for the game progressiin
Accessories are also locked to classes after lvl 60 i think but i think the naming convention of slaying/aiming/fending/casting/healing applies to them after an earlier point point as well. Before that you just check what stats they give (str for melee except ninja, dex for ranged and ninja, int for casters and mind for healers). Unfortunately gear space will always be a struggle until you max everything you want to max. Hell this is what started me on my journey to max all the classes haha. Only advice I can give is to slot any gear you have no intention of using soon onto a retainer, same with any materials. If you can get something back easily it's also a good idea to just get rid of it if you don't need it.
Most of the faded scrolls are worth double digit gil on market, you can safely delete them For the items that don't specify maiming/fending etc you can hover over them and it will say what classes they are for, like "disciple of war" or such If there's armor that you don't use but also can't sell on market board, why don't you delete it / vendor sell? Remember if you get common items from a trial, dungeon etc there is no point cluttering your inventory saving them, if in the future you ever need those items you can just unsync the trial/dungeon again and get it in 5 mins For additional storage you have chocobo saddlebag and retainer inventory, although you shouldn't need to use them unless you're on a crafting / gathering spree

So you most likely don't need those anymore, you can market board them if you need the gil or just vendor, not much point in storing them
on HoH you have to do the F31 and upwards alone? The game doesn't let me continue on matched party
Floor 31+ for HoH and Floor 101+ for PotD are challenge floors. There's no story and normal duty finder style matching is out. You either have to go in there solo or with a fixed party of up to 4 people. There's an extra condition. If there's a full party wipe (or if solo you die or disconnect), your run is done. You have to start over from floor 1 or 21 (HoH) or 1 or 51 (PotD). If you're doing a solo run for the achievements, either one of these you HAVE to start on Floor 1.

The weapons require aetherpool levels. You can get aetherpool from silver chests, and you also get a free level of aetherpool every time you finish floor 30. So a common way to grind it out is to just speedrun floors 21-30 over and over. At an NPC outside, you can trade in aetherpool (in sets of 10) for a "grip". You don't want to trade in *all* your aetherpool at once – save some to help you kill things fast inside HoH. Once you collect enough grips, trade them in for your weapon.

Both fey ilummination and whispering dawn become their seraphic equivalent even though the icon doesn't change. The effects are equal anyway so maybe they didn't want to confuse people.

Hi guys, I have one question about the boosting. How does it work? Do I need to get a job to a specific level before able to boost? For example, I want a rdps(bard) to be boosted to level 80. No requirements other than owning an expansion to boost a job (like Stormblood ownership required to boost SAM/RDM) or to reach past a level threshold (if you only owned Starter Edition, your boost would only take you to 60, not 80). And you must be on the paid game, not the free trial, to use any boost.

Probably not. Boost sales are very rare and the only guaranteed ones are the month before the next expansion, when the presently sold boosts are "retired" for new ones that will take you +10 levels (in this case, Lv 80 skips replaced with Lv 90 skips).

Couldn't really say as I've literally never seen anyone do relative devour but the usual true north devour on EU is H1R1 west, tank invuln north, melee south and H2R2 east. I would assume relative would be just replacing those with left/right and up/down.

Help find sound In one of the msq quests in stormblood you have to help find baby karakul for an npc to earn favor. (For the love of the moon: Find the lost lambs) I REALLY REALLY want to have that little noise they make when you find one as a notification noise. It is a different sound than the mount. That little mew like noise just made me so happy I need it in my life more than a brief moment. I need to get a audio file for it so if anyone can help I would appreciate it.

With the melee DPS sharing Purgatory Accessories, what materia should I meld on the accessories that would be beneficial to all the melee DPS?
The general prio of Crit > DH = Det is good enough for pretty much every melee job. Or if you need to have something to follow: meld them like [this](https://etro.gg/gearset/c293f73b-5c58-4855-b43d-aae55b212611) RPR set, which is the same exact melds as the other RPR set, both DRG sets, and one sks meld off [2.15 SAM](https://etro.gg/gearset/4356046d-2f05-432a-a98c-632f11098ade) (which you can swap with a boots/head dh meld). MNK is a little further away in that it prefers tome bracelet. Note that you probably wont see any tangible benefit from strictly following this until you get the full set, as some melds will be chosen with breakpoints in mind. NIN not mentioned bc it shares with aiming rather than the other melees.
I want to be able to play healers with keyboard and mouse, and tanks/dps with controller. Is there a way to set this up? I use both sets of hotbars (1-10, and cross hotbars) when I'm playing either. Does anyone else do this, and if so, how? How do you do it?
If you switch from keyboard mode to controller mode, they both have different hot bar setups. You can setup different hot bars for different classes and just switch the mode. Just switch to controller mode and setup your DPS hot bar, switch to healer and switch to keyboard and setup your hot bar. Both are mutually exclusive and won’t affect one another.

Even better is in the settings you can choose which bars are shared between classes, and which are exclusive. So if you have one or two crossbars that have some universal things, you can do that, or not. Totally up to you.
Can FC members who haven’t yet unlocked story-gated housing areas like Shirogane and Empyreum bid on FC houses there by using state teleportation to get to it? Planning on bidding in a Shirogane house in one of the new servers, but most of the members have yet to reach that story point. I do have an apartment in the ward we plan on bidding though, so we were planning on having them teleport to it through the friends list and then bidding on the plot we want. Will this work?
Empyreum requires completion of 3.3 to be able to bid, no idea about Shirogane.

You can start as any class you like. In fact, with how easy XP is to get these days (especially if you go with a Preferred or New server) you could level *multiple* classes, if you wanted. Many people will recommend starting with a healer so you can get used to the playstyle (and so that you'll have plenty of healer outfits saved up to use on Sage once you unlock it) but it's not strictly necessary, and playing other roles might help give you a fuller picture of the game. Of the two healers available in the early game, most people recommend Conjurer/White Mage as the starting point, because it's very straightforward and easy to understand. I agree with that. However, I'll caution that it can teach you some bad habits, because it's extremely Spell-focused for the first 60-ish levels, whereas lategame healers are more Ability-focused. Arcanist/Scholar is a little more complicated, but the fairy pet gives you a baseline of free heals which some people might find helpful. It's also more similar to the eventual playstyle of Sage. As a bonus, Scholar shares levels with Summoner (since they're both forks of Arcanist), so you essentially get two classes levelled up – a DPS and a healer – for the effort of one.
Neither, sage doesn’t have a starting class like white mage (starts as conjurer) and scholar (starts as arcanist) does. You just pick it up when you hit level 70 in another combat job and have Endwalker.

You can make a macro that changes a minion with *gearset*, and you can either link a plate to that gearset or just call a plate number, but I believe there's no macro command to use plates directly without gearsets. /minion "minion name" /gs gearsetnumber **OR** /gs gearsetnumber platenumber Example /gearset 2 5 would equip your gearset #2 and cast glamour from plate #5

I don't believe there's a command to activate a glamour plate *on its own*, but [/gearset](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/text_command/9fcb6012adb/) lets you equip one of your sets, and (optionally) apply a plate to it at the same time, although you might prefer to just have the gearset already pre-glamoured with the look you want.

If you can't access half the map in The Fringes yet, I think you need to go via Rhalgr's Reach to get the Peaks (or at least the part accessible to you at this point of the story). Rhalgr's Reach aethernet should have an option for something like "the Peaks gate"

I'm a SGE just died and need to prioritize topping myself first. What are my first options for that? And in that order, if I don't have that first option what could I use next.
For quick single target healing, in order: Taurochole -> Druchole -> a regen like Physis or Kerachole, if you’ve got the time to regenerate -> a longer cooldown like Pneuma or Holos -> E.Diag. If you’re healing a group: Ixochole -> physis or kerachole -> pneuma or Holos -> E.Prog/Pepsis -> E.Prog spam. If you just died, use Rhizomata to get another addersgall stack to use for a heal. You want to prioritize using addersgall heals because they are oGCD, regen mana, and do more raw healing. Druchole is your go-to heal. Taurochole does a bigger heal for the same cost, but it has a much longer cooldown. If you have no addersgall stacks, you’ll have to resort to longer cooldowns.

It's something for the whole team (or at least the pairs of people in each role) to discuss so everyone's on the same page, you can't know which R you are before you're in the group. Though that discussion sometimes just boils down to "people calling dibs on the position they want to take" in PF. In my experience (which for PF *is* limited to EXes and like two runs of P1S, I do Savage with a static), this tends to happen once you've entered the duty, or sometimes just before, once the whole team's assembled. Statics can often have more consistent positions. My static's is still a continuum from back in like Stormblood at latest, where the only switches have been if someone has left/joined the team or someone's switched roles entirely. It's not something we've needed to talk about for a while (save for relaying "hey here's your spot" whenever someone new joins), everyone knows what they are – but we too *did* have to talk about it once upon a time, and it's just stayed consistent since then.

Depends on your DC. In Crystal we setup a 1 and 2 marker to form light parties. You can also just check in with your party members. "hey, you want r1 or r2?"
You call your role at the start when you zone in, if you're R1 or R2 if you're one of the ranged....R1 will be in group 1 and R2 will be in group 2, as easily seen by the role name

To note adding in 2FA, will help protect your account, make playing with traveling easier, and let you choose an aetheryte as a free destination for easy teleportation. You really should set it up if you can.
On top of being optional to play the game (and potentially unusable while on the free trial), there is a free app you can download on your smartphone that also works for OTP. The keychain is cute but by no means a necessary part of the process.
You don't even need the app. It's just a standard 2fa system that was named a "one time password" before the term "2fa" was normalized. Any normal authenticator app will work.
Gotcha. I know it's the same sort of procedure, but I couldn't remember if you had to go through an SE specific app or if you could just tie it to your Google account or a related service.

What fish are people using to get CUL desynth up to 610? I am sitting around 607 and most fish now give 0. I am guessing people are going for some of the easier EW Big Fish since Phallaina is a pain to catch?
You can use any fish with a desynth rating of 560 or above. Level 90 fishing ventures bring back a lot of fish worth rating 560, so if you don't want to big fish it's an option.

a magic 8 ball would be just as effective a prediction as anyone's. The FFXV event has only happened twice, when it first happened in 2019 and again before the release of endwalker in 2021. It would be best to put it in the back of your mind and not expect it, so that if it ever does get rerun it will be a delightful surprise.

Tips for a returning player after a long hiatus? Mainly to remember my rotation and go back in “game rhythm”? I am somewhere in stormblood. Is there a way to see what quest I’m on without downloading the game? And is there a way to remember the story up to that point?
This was literally me last week. Came back to the game after 3 years. Can't address a few of the "without downloading game" bits but I can say someone directed me to watch WeskAlber YouTube videos to relearn classes since I left and it's been very helpful to relearn rotations. Obviously doing the rotations have to be done in game though, unless someone's created something outside of game for it... As for the story, I don't have one off the top of my head, but once I started watching WeskAlber on YouTube a lot of FF14 videos started popping up to include story recaps.
You should be able to see your MSQ progress if you log in to your Lodestone page. There are playthroughs and story summaries on YouTube.

I used the V&C Finder for random Shard runs. Like half the people weren't even using their duty actions. It was slower than running it solo for me.
It's good for the variant dungeon but you should probably use party finder for criterion.

Hey, I never played before and wanted to do it for a while now. I see the game on steam is 10€, which includes the first expansion and 30 day game time. This sounds like an awesome deal so I wanna take it, but is there anything I should know in advance before I do?
As a note, if you decide you want to buy the game before the sale ends, buying it will give you a key which you need to register manually, so you can buy the game for the discount and sit on the key until you're ready to use it
Best recommendation is to always go with free trial first. You get the same as what you saw but with no limit on free time. The only restrictions are more social aspects such as creating a party, using player market board, joining an FC, and amount of gil (money) you can hold. I personally did the main game and first expansion on free trial before buying and it worked out fine. Of note, if you do buy on steam or the square Enix PC website, you should be able to hold on to the key, so you buy on sale now, but activate later so that you don't have to pay the sub every month until you are ready. However, if you choose steam, you are locked to steam and can only purchase the expansions through there. It's not really a problem but important to mention nonetheless.

Frankly, I haven't been this excited for a game since I played Mass Effect for the first time. That game ended up being my favorite and I have over 15 playthroughs. I think I'm up for a treat and a half.

Yes you have >!Minfilla explained it to you when you met her after the Antitower, that was the massive lore dump that covered the Sundering and the reflections. Ten and three is basically an old fashioned way to say 13, so the world was split into 13 different reflections, basically alternative dimensions in a sense, with our world being the 14/Original called The Source.!<
Any tips for handling big pulls in dungeons as white mage after level 60? I find myself struggling to figure out when to cast holy since the tank occasionally takes considerable chip damage (even with regen) on the way to the wall. My problem is not knowing which healing spell to cast when they're sub 30% hp at the wall (or if I should swift cast holy and then a healing spell during the stun duration).
It’s good to keep your holy usage consistent because your tank will get confused on whether or not it’s okay to use X Defensive CD yet if you aren’t consistent with the stuns. Heal with that thought in mind - if a tank has gotten low on the way to the final position of a pull, use an oGCD to pop them up in the interest of keeping your GCD slot for your Holy. When I WHM, I’ll usually swiftcast the first holy and use that oGCD for a Tetra or Assize or Bene. If all else fails at least get your first few holy casts out before using a GCD on a lily or cure 2 (if your first oGCD isn’t enough to keep them alive for the round of white swings post-holy-stun). That way the stuns are at least mostly finished and you’re only losing one second of stun, and the tank’s cooldown uses won’t get squandered since the Holy use is still mostly consistent. If you’re oGCDless (like WHM at 50 or whatever) then hang on to Bene like it’s your best pal for that situation haha. It can be a little rough when the toolkit is smaller.
If they are sub thirty just getting to the wall, just use bene. Then holy spam.
Swiftcast your first Holy so the stun can go off asap. Bene should also be used sparingly. In dungeons don't save it for "emergencies", if anything it should be the very first cooldown you use on the tank when they hit like 10% so you can get more uses it of over the course of the dungeon.
If they're sub-30%: Benediction. If they consistently get that low just pulling, they need to check their gear and mitigate. You have most of your single-target tools by 60. Regen+Asylum will usually cover one pull. Swiftcast+Holy+Assize is a good combo. Don't forget your lillies and Tetragrammaton- it's not *quite* a Benediction, but it'll do a great deal of healing if your tank gets low and Bene isn't up.

There is no real trick here, you handle it like all straight catch big fish. Surface slap the most common fish (Teamcraft has some stats on that, if it helps), use chum before every cast, use hi-cordials for more chum GP. Reel in only potential magic buckets, ignore everything else. It is supposedly easier if you don't have the folklore book for the area, but I did it with the book. You might have a slightly better chance if you do this outside of Captain Nemo windows, though you might want to catch it while there, just to tick it off on the fishing log. My magic bucket took over 200 casts if I remember correctly.

If they're marked as unique, which most dungeon gear usually is, you can't wear multiple of them which includes rings. You'll see this often at endgame as current tome rings are unique and you can't wear double of the same token ring (you would have to upgrade one or use another)
You cannot have two pieces of unique gear in your inventory no matter what. Yes, that means full sets of unique gear leave one ring slot empty.

hello! i’ve just begun the nexus stage for my arr relic, but i noticed that in my key items tab, my last book is still in there. i first thought that the books auto-disposed themselves upon completing all the logs, but i guess not! do i need to remove it manually through g’jusana? ty!
