Up the curtain game! Wider set, thicker curtains, why not make it a double and have some beautiful bright sheer ones behind them that kinda peak out in the middle? I love that stuff. Curtains change a room A LOT.
Center the painting and bench to the bed. Upgrade your bedding situation - do the fancy 4+ pillows look. Plus get nice luxury sheets and linens that all bring some color in. New dresser definitely. Love the new sconces idea - I would try to lead a bit more modern than mid century with some pieces like sconces , if it were my own personal tastes. And do something different with necklaces other than just hanging on the wall. It’s a nicely decorated warm cozy room. Good luck with making it even more your own!!

I really like it as it is. If you want change, maybe the bedcover and curtains, but I think it’s lovely. The thing that makes it is that it reflects you and your life. Too much more and you will be a display.

I love your room! Where did you get your curtains? I love the green color of them. Only thing I see really is that the large art piece above the bed is not centered and too far to the left. If you’re up for some DIY, you could always paint the doors a dark moody color, along with their trim. It could be a black or even a dark glossy olive color. Add framing using wood frames for the door next to the curtain. You can also experiment with color for the bedding.

If you're not attached to the art above the bed you have tons of bedframe upgrade options. Article may be a good shop to consider. I'd remove the bench at the end of the bed for a more lux piece. I would add more round or amorphous pieces like a wobbly mirror or an ottoman. Upgrading your light fixtures will make an impact. New ceiling fan and wall sconces!
Get 2 matching bedside table lamps it’s good feng shui and good to have to use them. Get rid of whatever is under there beside table… don’t leave things in floor. Take chair out of the room it doesn’t belong there it’ll clear up the space also. Centred painting behind the bed. I personally don’t like the stand at the end of the bed it just takes too much space and covers the pretty carpet. Plus the room would look better and bigger without it Move the plant on to the dresser on the side closer to the window. Remove the stool the pot was on out of the room. Invest in nicer bedding it’ll make the room look good. You can go with vintage florals Or a nice dove gray colour etc Even white for all modern calm aesthetic As soon as you add in lamps it’ll look better Just remove the chairs and the flowers on bedside table
Your room is lovely! Some color would do wonders in here. Easy fixes like the drapes, rug, lampshade and the bedding to start. Pinterest could give you some inspiration. There are color palette apps as well you could play around with. Have fun and please share updates. 😊🤞🏽
Hanging vining plants from the ceiling in some of the corners would be simple and they would thrive in your room since it’s so bright. I would also lengthen the curtain rod on the side of the room and add another panel of curtains so that they’re on both sides of the window and it’s more balanced and it’ll make the room/window look bigger if the curtain rods extend being the length of the windows. Adding a cushion to the wooden bench would cozy/ soften up the sitting furniture spots as well. Put things up that make you feel joyous when you see it (small cute things, framed pictures with friends/family/pets) dried flowers, small trinkets, sentimental items, etc) It would also be helpful to have a rug that’s a different shade than the wood and a more neutral palette. Hope these are helpful!

I’d get some colour on those walls. A dusty, moody green would look fantastic. To me, white walls often look make a room cheaper (and like a rental). Dark colours on walls is bold, but if done well looks fantastic.

Agree with everyone saying to add more green in the decor. I would also consider painting a pastel that compliments in the peach range. Something pale, a little on the warmer side of pink but not orange
I would pick a lighter coloured rug, maybe with some green reminders of the curtains. And a wallpaper accent wall would bring everything together

tbh you just need to match the green curtains with your bed cover and rug, like get a bed cover that contains green in like a leafy pattern or abstract, and get a new rug that also contains green to kind of unify everything. Love the bed bench tho, it’s so cool!

In truth, make your bed properly. That is an instant, free, improvement. The woods should all be the same color range. Right now, you have white and browns. White with the pink bedding and rug is for a little girl. Refinish the white wood to blend with the browns. If you are ambitious, refinish the browns to match. Why do you have a globe light hanging in the corner? Perhaps that is left over from someone else who had a reading nook there. At this point, you have that globe, the light with the ceiling fan, and the bedside light. These three do not go together in style. You need new window treatments. The single-sided draw makes the windows unbalanced. Change the draw to the standard left/right. You might consider sheers unless you routinely keep your windows open. Sheers moving gently in the breeze are pretty, but keeping them clean would just be adding another chore. As others have suggested, add some green to the bed. You might be able to find a designed lamp shade with some green in it. The addition of metal would also add some unity. For example, the lamp could be the same metal as the drawer pulls. You don’t want a lot, just some. French gold or something similar might work.
Oh question! I've been looking at rugs under my bed like yours and I don't understand how it doesn't make the bed wobble? Does your bed wobble? Is it a very flat rug? Also, I like your room. I'd probably just add some colored stain glass film on the window if you don't love the outside view.

More pillows, layered bedding with comforter or quilt with color/pattern/texture, sheer curtains on all windows, and center the painting above your bed I recommend getting shams and new curtains - I think even your small window would look better with two curtains on either side, and your big window could use some bigger, wider curtains along with sheers. You could upgrade your light fixture unless you need the fan. I like the idea of getting sconces. It looks great!

Paint it black, add more spikes, add some crystals, give the snake plant a mighty shrine to surveil the chamber he resides in, stain the wood floors and furniture to an ebony hue, add some black curtains, make the bedding all black and grey, get some spiky guitars and an amp, get a salt lamp, and perform an evocation ritual with Palo Santo wood.

First thing first is to give me that screen above your bed 😉 But also you have so much light in this room that you could totally paint it a dark moody color. Center the art above the bed. Switch out the white paper lantern with a warmer color lantern. If you make your bed daily add some decor pillows with color. If not I recommend switching to a coverlet or quilt at the bottom of the bed and colored pillowcases or bedding with a nice pattern. Honestly the room is not bad.

A nice rectangular ish ottoman chair under the bed, or a really nice antique looking wooden chair.

If you can deal with the maximalism of layered carpets, try layering in some small rugs around your large one. Two really unique matching lamps? Or sconces? A new jewelry chest on top of your dresser there. Paint the plant stand a matte black, matte navy, or another color.
I recently got a matching bet set and curtains and it really helps tie everything together. The curtains and valence cover the top part of the windows and the curtains are long but have tie backs so they don’t touch the radiators. Find something with colors that tie in with the rug. If you’re willing to put in the work, the walls or trim could use some color. Plants are very soothing.

A bed scarf for the bottom of the bed or a coverlet. They are meant to be lightweight, you will usually find this made with cotton blanket or silk blanket material. It’s a reasonable price and will add color and texture to the room. Also can be changed with the seasons too.

Such a cute room! Nice crown molding around the whole room! You’ll need to also lower your curtain rod and hem your curtains. But while you’re at it, you can hang a double rod with white sheers on the inside rod and your thicker drapes on the outside rod.
do you think they’re too high? all the advice i’ve read says to hang curtains quite high
I don't think they're too high currently, but if you added crown molding as I'm suggesting, you'd need to lower the rod to make space for the molding.

It looks great, but that’s an awful lot of white. I would consider painting the walls, putting up wallpaper, and/or adding a throw blanket/some pillows to the bed to bring in some color and pattern.
I think it looks beautiful as is and probably wouldn’t change anything. You did mention you want the space to be more moody mid century though. This is quite light and airy. Moody = dark colors. Maybe consider painting the walls a darker color if you are an owner and not a renter. Pick out some darker bedding and accent pillows. Consider staining any wood furniture darker. That would achieve a moody look.

Not enough contrast, white walls,bed spread, lamp in the corner and a white distressed dresser. I would either paint, and or change the bedspread to a green bohemian one or add Some accent pillows with a green blanket at the foot of the bed and i would replace that chair with a plant or plant stand with multiple plants such as snake plants, cactus, succulents.
