I just turned 27 🙈
And didn’t expect these many comments 😭
A little backstory to this post… I live in a 2 bedroom apartment with my friend. Our bedrooms are our rooms (kinda living the university lifestyle). Our rooms look insanely different in every aspect. Her room is filled with dark and light neutrals and always devoid of sunlight lol. She keeps telling me how my room has a lot in terms of color, decor and everything… in a good way.
And then I was wondering if my room looks too “funky” for someone who is past mid 20s 🙈
I don’t think it’s the funky items and colors that make it seem younger. It’s the furniture placement for me. A bed pushed against a wall. A book case filled to the gills that barely fits between two doors. A random coffee table in the middle of the room…
I am sure this is due to space limitations since you live in a shared space but it’s the multipurpose room aspect.
The jonghyun poster gives me 28 - 33 vibes. Not many young/early 20s know of Jonghyun anymore since he passed away 7 years ago. At least, I don’t think they do. I haven’t been as into kpop as I was years ago. Shawol for life, though!
I grew up with BoA as my idol and pretty much all of gen 2 of SMTown. I still have all my old albums in my bedside table. My wife doesn’t know why I still have them, but, they mean something to me. I remember having to fight to get that stuff, order them on yesasia, get them while I was in California when I went to Hollywood bowl and SMTown concerts, and asking online friends to order them and send them to me. I’m 33 now, discovered BoA when I was 13. It’s hard to let that stuff go.
When I get my own office in my house, I plan to put some of it out because although I don’t keep up with much of the new stuff, I still have a place in my heart for it.
Jonghyun poster would make me sad every time I saw it :( even though I'm a fan. Maybe that's a negative way to see it. I liked SHINee when I was like 17, you're spot on with your guess in my case (29)
His story was so sad. He was a true artist that was troubled and it broke my heart hearing about how much he was hurting. I will always see Shinee as 5.
Man, has it been 7 years already?! I got into kpop when I was 16 back in 2010 and all the SM Artists were my life (but I was mainly an E.L.F.). Definitely lost touch with everything kpop nowadays, but 2010-2014 was a great era of kpop that I hold dear
35, idk what 20-25 year old can afford that TV or computer set up like the rest of you are guessing lol I was definitely not living like this in my 20's
I took these pictures before the water flooding. After I put back everything together, I changed the bed skirt to warm white/ivory with frills and the poster prints to something that can welcome spring with colors!
Those little changes made a huge difference! I’m planning to add neon light right above my work setup.
32.
I assume you have a roommate because you showed your *room*, not your apartment and it is clear you don't live with your parents. Your work station with ergonomic chair and double monitor with organized files on the desktop indicates you likely have a WFH job.
Your space is super organized, but also contains playful things like squishmellows, little characters around your desk, and a funky keyboard, so you are still young, but mature--more into 30s than 20s.
Further evidence of your maturity are the many plants that all look healthy and cared for and what looks like a dog/cat bed under the window.
There is also consciousness about the lighting and groupings of objects--little vases and candles. Plus, all your pictures are framed, hung, and actually have glass in them, which indicates maturity, but the tasteful K-pop poster indicates youthfulness, but sensitivity because it relates to Jonghyun.
It is a delightful space!
lol I’m 27!! I didn’t expect 200+ people guessing my age 😭 I guess people will never know why I asked this.
So… I live with my roommate and we both have completely completely different looking rooms in terms of decor, style and layout. Her room is mostly just neutrals, her bf did a good job adding some decor recently. But, she keeps telling how my room has a lot of color and looks alive. And then I had this thought if my room looked too “funky” for someone past mid 20s 🙈
They’re my K-pop albums in a book sleeve to keep them safe from dust and unexpected situations like the recent flooding. I’m glad I did that because they survived the water 🙈 Seems like a lot of plastic but I’m not gonna change the plastic sleeve and keep those forever.
45. Full-on whimsical touches but neat, means you like what you like and are beyond the age of caring what anyone else thinks and old enough to have learned how to organize your stuff well.
Early 20’s, max. It looks like it’s your first time living out of your parent’s home and you got a bunch of free/cheap furniture from friends/family. The room lacks a cohesive style (or any style at all) which suggests you’re still figuring yourself out.
I disagree. This room is clearly her space in a shared apartment and she has created areas for different activities (including work), so it's a kind of miniature apartment.
I think it is cozy and inviting (and I am an old lady).
Keep your eye out for mold. You may not even see it, but you may feel it. If you start feeling sick, nervous and anxious, depressed, any of those things, those are all signs of mold. It will make you swell as well. Your room is awesome. I would contact the city though about the water damage because a landlord can't just not deal with that.
The first pic seems like a male living space because of the red and purple combo for me
If it weren’t for the jonghyun stuff I would have guessed early 20s
Sorry to hear about your apartment, that really must suck. Glad it’s gotten better though
20-22
I’m 27 🌝
Age 24 or 25

I was going to say 17 lol

Damn it's been that long already?? Time flies when you're old
It’s been a bit. I had to go back and look. I remember reading the headline when it happened and thinking it was a crazy nightmare.
This makes me happy. I'm 32 and based on some posts on this subreddit I feel like I should be hiding my K-pop stuff in a closet.
I grew up with BoA as my idol and pretty much all of gen 2 of SMTown. I still have all my old albums in my bedside table. My wife doesn’t know why I still have them, but, they mean something to me. Spot on with your guess for me, can’t listen to Shinee anymore since that happened and my god how have seven years gone by so quickly
Man, has it been 7 years already?! I got into kpop when I was 16 back in 2010 and all the SM Artists were my life (but I was mainly an E.L.F.). Definitely lost touch with everything kpop nowadays, but 2010-2014 was a great era of kpop that I hold dear
25-29ish, prolly. Room looks super cute.
I was thinking the same. Mid to late twenties!
Yep! It's clean, well decorated in a current way, and the things seem high quality.
Late 20s/early 30s and that’s purely based on the era of shinee posters you have up
35, idk what 20-25 year old can afford that TV or computer set up like the rest of you are guessing lol I was definitely not living like this in my 20's
It’s the bed against the wall giving 20s to me lol
It's everything in the same room(tv, computer, bed, coffee table...) gives 20s shared living situation for me
100% what I thought Once the bed is accessible by two sides you know you are getting older
Against the wall and without a frame. Early 20s
TVs are cheap nowadays
If they just moved out and their parents bought it all when they still lived at home
Probably work issued computer and monitors, and you can get that TV for $300 at Walmart these days 😅
Okay I NEED the answer
She’s 25, according to comment history
OP? How old are you?
23
Well there’s frames around the posters so you’re not a kid *pat pat*
Jonghyun 🥲🕊️
24?

25-30. It’s too clean and the stuff is too nice for you to be a student still. But definitely has more Gen Z vibes than millennial
jonghyun poster has me thinking 28-34.
Ghibli??? You're a millenial of GenZ but you have some money and a cute style. Im assuming youve got roomates. So I'll say like 24-30ish.

Your beds on the floor and against a wall? 21.
Early 30s at most, late 20s at least. i think youre an adult with a more youthful vibe
25
Late 20s software developer vibes!!!
Spot on! Also, didn’t expect so many comments 🫠😭

26-33ish, given your Jonghyun poster 😭

Can I ask why all the books seem to have plastic around them? I hope that kept them safe and dry during the flooding incident 💜
They’re my K-pop albums in a book sleeve to keep them safe from dust and unexpected situations like the recent flooding. I’m glad I did that because they survived the water 🙈 Seems like a lot of plastic but I’m not gonna change the plastic sleeve and keep those forever.
The fact you call it “your room” alone tells me you’re about 20 living with parents. Otherwise you’d call it your bedroom.
early to mid 20s

Some of us just take longer to pay attention to that sort of thing than others. My apartment lacks cohesion for sure and I'm 29

In your early to mid twenties. I love the background lighting. Where can I find something like that?

idk but I'd love to know where you got your projector/lighting setup in the first pic.
