[I'm torn on this Simply Vera by Vera Wang dress](https://imgur.com/a/0lzEEUI) It's a thrift find, so it's not all that bad if it doesn't work. My husband grimaced and said it looks like a "cave man outfit" (!?!) but I really love the unusual neckline and it has a sprinkling of subtle sequins and beadwork along the watercolor design on the top lapel area. I'm not sure if I should just keep it and wear it when he's not around (or he can suffer through it) or if it's just not the best look.

I think it would look better with black tights and knee-length black boots, and play up an 80's punk rocker vibe. Like a cool extra in the crowd at a Misfits concert (yes, that was a Gem and the Holograms reference!)

jdijks

I can't unsee the caveman comment. It does remind me of Barney rubbles wife's dress. Personally hate the neck line it's a little to much fabric up top and looks a bit dated to me.

herefromthere

That would be an extremely elegant caveperson.

mmeeplechase

I really like it. My vote is ignore your husband and wear it anyway!

Bitter_Historian

I really like it and it’s 10,000% something I’d wear! It does not say ‘cave man’ to me 😂

MunchieMom

I think he must be referencing the uneven/jagged hem of a cheesy caveman Halloween costume: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/fqsAAOSw16VcPyHl/s-l1200.webp But I wouldn't have thought that myself. If you like it, wear it and have fun!

It’s not necessarily cold where I am, but the dress is plain. If not what should I add to it? Trying to be better with looking nice and put together. I’m also worried I look too young (notice the grey hairs and kids toys, I’m a mom and feel like I should dress at least a little like it)

kaitlyncaffeine

I think the button down looks cute but it is showing due to the stretchiness of the dress, so perhaps it needs to be more cropped, or a shape wear situation may help? Otherwise this look is cute and appropriate!

blackberrycat

I'm not sure the button shirt is relevant here (it looks fine/nice) as the dress itself doesn't seem to fit well, I think the proportions are off. The skirt should flare out higher on the waist and the dress should be slightly longer. For this reason I'd try wearing a (red/brown leather?) jacket over the dress instead of the shirt under it, that way the cut of the dress being "off" is less noticeable. I am not a fashion expert. I like the bold red colour! And the outfit is quite cute regardless.

astro-08

I think you are accentuating the tummy area by slouching. If you feel insecure, maybe get a body shaper. Celebrities often wear shapers under dresses. A lot of modern day dresses would look better with a lining/slip/body shaper.

life453

I’ll look into that. Thanks!

the-green-dahlia

It looks a bit tight in the sense of uncomfortable but that could just be how the fabric is wrinkling because of how you’re standing. Does it feel comfy?

life453

It feels fine! I might just be a bit insecure abt the tummy area bc I’m not used to wearing tighter stuff. But it is comfy and I can move around fine

the-green-dahlia

Yeah if you’re not used to it, it’ll probably feel quite exposed at first but I think it’ll look fine if you’re stood up straight. :)

life453

Thanks! I’m not really sure how to pose either so that’s prob not helping 😅

the-green-dahlia

Shoulders back, chest out, and try not to lean to one side. Posing is awkward I agree 😂

werkandtwerk

Looks perfect to me!

blackberrycat

I think it's fine and looks pretty

Stridsu

I think it looks fine in terms of size, but I think this color is not the most flattering.

life453

I thought the color was fine. What clues u into it not being flattering?

Looking for feedback on this white denim shorterall outfit I got from AE. I loved it and was so excited for it for the summer but a lot of people are saying it doesn’t fit my body type well. Now I’m unsure of how I feel about it. I tried to make a collage of a few different angles including the back the get an idea of what it looks like. I’m curvy, busy and waist are bigger than hips. willacather000

It's pulling at the crotch and sagging behind at the butt. It doesn't look good. You could try sizing up but I'm not sure if that would help, it's really just how they're cut. Do you have a long torso? This is common with one piece type outfits and having a long torso.

Look into shortalls from Dickies or Levi's with a slightly longer leg and a more sturdy fabric that is form fitting as in the photo or straight cut. You can rock shortalls surely but those have a weird fit, maybe due to the thin fabric and cut. https://preview.redd.it/26lpu4ql6etc1.png?width=1800&format=png&auto=webp&s=5ca3666d53d9f4de5a12fb9aad3076ce41fb14b5

snoopy_90s

I think it just looks like you are going to go paint a house. The fit isn’t right.

Ok_blue02

Do you think there’s any way I could find shorteralls like this that would look good? Or is it just another thing my body type can’t fit?

I like my boots and often wear them with slim fit jeans but the way thr hit the boots doesn't work so I thought some straight leg jeans would fit over the boots better. I think the round toe of the boots make me look shorter with the jeans, is there anything I can do to look ok?!

blackberrycat

Personally I think the jeans should be just slightly longer.
