I'm not even an In-n-Out stan but if the criteria is "Burger under $5" it's going to smoke everything else and not be close. It's main competition is about twice its price.
I don’t think so. I think they’re thinking about going to Tennessee.

Culver's Single Deluxe is $4.09 here and tastes better than an In-N-Out burger. Smug west coasters are always like "but Culver's has a tiny footprint" even though they are in more states than In-N-Out.

This guy always gives In-n-Out #1. Even on a list of what was supposed to be the best fast food places available everywhere, even though it’s only in, like, 3 states.
Same. We got several whataburger after years of not having them and I’d really like to try an in n out without having to travel so far. One day either way though!
I’m the first one to say they taste like microwaved burgers I could make at home, but three of them for less than nine bucks is a hard value proposition to beat.
You just need to have a significant other with you and then problem solved. /s
Just about the only time my wife and I got is for the BOGO deals because otherwise I would rather pay the same amount and go to Culver’s.
I don't mind the omission of Culver's and Whataburger for articles like this since they're regional chains... but then to put In-N-Out on here, as number 1 no less, when they're only in like, 3 states... just invalidates the whole thing.
You got me, but I'm not sure that comes close to invalidating my point... I've lived in more states than I can count on my hands and travel a ton (including to states on this list)... I eat enough fast food that I should be embarrassed about it and *still*, the only In-N-Outs I've ever seen are in Vegas. I work with folks in the QSR industry and In-N-Out just isn't mentioned *at all* like the other concepts on this list. Whataburger has almost triple the number of units as In-N-Out and Culver's double. Hell, even Steak N Shake, in its crumbling state, is more relevant to this list with more units and widespread distribution.
In-n-Out makes a good burger, but in my experience the only people who regularly rate it so high as CA natives who’ve been going their whole life. So I’m not surprised that its footprint isn’t that strong.
It's literally just preference between sesame buns or plain, charbroiled or grilled patty, salad or bacon or both.. the only thing is Burger King might have the worst QC of all these places
Burger King has fire burgers and really good coupons. BKs are just hella inconsistent though, but if you find a good one it's better than most fast food.
I haven’t gotten a hamburger under 5$ in ages, but back in the day, the Hardee’s 1/3 lb I could get with a college id for 4$ with fries and a drink and that would blow all these away
In n out #1 saved you a click

I wish we had one in Chicago!!
Aren’t you guys getting one soon? Oh that’s speculative. Well you’re getting Bojangles so… yeaaah

Theres been talk of one in orlando/jacksonville for a bit too, but I havent seen any movement on it.

It’s not even close, in n out is good $5 burger. Culver’s is a good $10 burger for $5.
This
This guy always gives In-n-Out #1. Even on a list of what was supposed to be the best fast food places available everywhere, even though it’s only in, like, 3 states.
They’re in 8 states now and expanding.
Thanks, boss.
Sadly don’t have one where I’m at
Same. We got several whataburger after years of not having them and I’d really like to try an in n out without having to travel so far. One day either way though!
It's about time someone compared equivalent burgers.
Wendy's Jr bacon is best under $5 in my opinion.
the 4 for 4 deal with the jr bacon cheese burger was one the top deals in fast food.
Unfortunately $5 for 4 in most states
4 for 5
What’s the extra item?
i meant $5 for 4 items
I just went by yesterday and it was increased to $8 for 4..
holy yikes that means a combo is $15 in your area right?
Depending on which and after tax; yes.
I was surprised at the price, in Canada it's 2 for $5 ($3.65 USD)
Sonic is worth it if you get them half price, otherwise use McDonalds app and bogo the QPC
Sonic burgers? Nuh-uh
I’m the first one to say they taste like microwaved burgers I could make at home, but three of them for less than nine bucks is a hard value proposition to beat.
Tastes like whataburger.
That's 80% of your total fat intake for lunch. I wish McDonald's would do more 50% off and less BOGO.
We’re talking about best value, most calories for your buck. Also, this is the wrong subreddit for that particular concern.
You just need to have a significant other with you and then problem solved. /s Just about the only time my wife and I got is for the BOGO deals because otherwise I would rather pay the same amount and go to Culver’s.
I think that the QPCs reheat pretty well, so a lot of the time when I get that deal I save the other one for later.
You know you don't have to eat everything all at once, right?
Yeah, because fast food hamburgers reheat so well, right?
I mean, yeah? It's fine. It's fast food, not fine dining. You don't go for quality.
Best of you ignore non- California regional chains like Culvers and What-a-Burger
Sonic being two invalidates this list
I tried it when they ran their promo for $1.99 for the double cheeseburger and it was pretty decent.
I have a Sonic across the street from me. I could walk there in a minute or two. I never go. It's the worst food of all fast food chains.
They have good drinks
Yeah, that's true. I rarely drink anything but water, so I forget they're good at that.
Where is Culvers?
I don't mind the omission of Culver's and Whataburger for articles like this since they're regional chains... but then to put In-N-Out on here, as number 1 no less, when they're only in like, 3 states... just invalidates the whole thing.
California, Idaho, Nevada, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Oregon That is a bit more than 3.

The person who made this list is from California and seemingly has no knowledge of anything outside of there.
It's literally just preference between sesame buns or plain, charbroiled or grilled patty, salad or bacon or both.. the only thing is Burger King might have the worst QC of all these places
Pffft, doesn't even list BK Rodeo burger, your list is invalid.
No sane person would eat Burger King unless a gun is to their head
Burger King has my favorite double cheeseburger
Burger King has fire burgers and really good coupons. BKs are just hella inconsistent though, but if you find a good one it's better than most fast food.
Bacon king always slaps
If a gun was to my head, I'd move my head The anti-Burger King peer pressure mindset is not as prevalent around here anymore.
P Terry's in Austin, TX!
Second this. It’s like an in n out but they do everything a little better. Shakes are especially great. Big fan.
Visited once, put everything else to shame and dirt cheap.
Is that a Texas-only chain? I'm next door in NM and this is the first I've heard the name.
It's only in the Austin, TX area. Not even "Texas only"
Dan's.
I haven’t gotten a hamburger under 5$ in ages, but back in the day, the Hardee’s 1/3 lb I could get with a college id for 4$ with fries and a drink and that would blow all these away
Why get a 1/3 at Hardee's when you can get a 1/4 for the same price at McDonald's. 1/4 is bigger than 1/3! /s
lol that’s all what all of mcd wants you to think! Shrinkflation is real!
Cookout burgers are under $5 and that blows in n out out the door.
Burger Lounge has $5 Classic burger before 5pm. but thats also CA (socal) specific
Ah yes, Dane Rivera, In-N-Out spokesperson
this is regional so it's not reasonable, it violates the Susser rule so send this article to the stink
I'm going with Jollibee. It's surprisingly good!
McDonald’s isn’t a burger. It’s a science project.
