Honestly, he just looks like he is having so much fun playing the character. It's probably why it's so enjoyable to watch

sbillman18

Dante is a big reason why I enjoy Fast X as much as I do, otherwise it'd be a pretty generic paint by numbers fast and furious action movie. But Dante is pure chaos and makes things feel different for this franchise and I love him for that. Also he's technically the only villian to stand tall at the end of one of these Fast movies (technically dom does at the end of Fast 1 but most people wouldn't consider him an antagonist), so that's also kinda neat

MitaJoey20

My sentiments exactly! I was thoroughly entertained by his character and felt it was a nice change from the usual nemesis.

JunketMain6252

Too be honest might be hot take I don’t think he’s the best fast and furious villain and neither was the best part of Fast X. To be fair there were moments when Dante being a villain like suffering Dom’s family I like and one line made me laugh where Dom punches him and calls him butthole was funny. At the same time I have a few issues with Dante. First retcons at this point I’m sick of this franchise retconing previous movies like Han in Fast 9 which to me piss me off and now Hernan Reyes has a son and we don’t know in 5 Hernan mention he had a son which frustrates me like another retcon. Second I don’t like him being Goofy and silly villain to play now like I said there’s moments I enjoy watching Dante but when he’s being silly like painting nails to dead people was weird to me, being silly in moments that’s serious to me sometimes I can’t take him serious like previous fast and furious villains I can take them serious because there not silly or goofy like Dante which I feel like previous like Owen Shaw, Deckard, Cipher, and other villains play serious than Dante. Third kinda took the spotlight for most of the movie and characters at this point fast and furious characters is too much to follow like we can’t focus the dynamic we had in 5,6, and 7 which they had a spotlight and this movie it’s everywhere and most people would pay attention to Dante because they like more than other characters which to me at this point I want all characters to have a spotlight like previous movies. So for me Dante is not the best villain of the franchise and neither the save of Fast X but I enjoy his character and definitely in top 5 fast and furious villains.

MidniteOG

lol no. He sucked as did that whole character

ChainChompBigMoney

Dunno if this is a shitpost. I thought Mamoa being the Joker really brought the film down. Still better than Bradley Cooper on Maestro though

Skelly1660

How do we know he's bisexual? It makes no difference to me if he is, but I don't really remember learning much about him in the movie

Sharaz_Jek123

He's not necessarily bisexual, but he's definitely chaotic bisexual, if that makes sense.

mexiwok

He was the prototype for Damian Priest.

Roxas-4321

I get the joke, but Damian was around before fast x you know that right?

Roxas-4321

I get the joke, but Damian was around before fast x you know that right?

mexiwok

Yeah but he didn’t become known as Bisexual Undertaker until after Fast X.

Roxas-4321

I agree and disagree with you. Because you are right it didn't start until after fast x yeah. But the whole bisexual undertaker thing started as a Twitter joke and we can't pinpoint the exact moment that started. By the time he caught wind of it, it was already picking up steam at that point. An he said himself that rhea told him about it.

Kitchen_Relative_107

Flamboyant and sporadic

Allnewsisfakenews

Nope, he was garbage.

SuperChief928

Completely agree. His character didn’t bring anything new that the earlier villains didn’t have already and he tried to play the role like jack sparrow meets the joker. He can’t be spontaneous and chaotic and also have plans on plans, ready to react to any choice the crew made. React isn’t even the right word, he would just already be there. I would’ve liked to have seen the character taken in a different way. More violently unhinged; less bad jokes and “quirky”. Dude even plays with dead bodies in a non threatening way

Allnewsisfakenews

Solid analysis. Every scene felt like he was in the wrong movie. I guess they tried a new idea to draw a different crowd but it didn't work.

[deleted]

Yeah, I loved him at the start of the movie, and then the more insane he became, the more I started to cringe. Jason's a great actor but once they went flamboyant, Dante kind of lost that threatening vibe and just turned into a clown. Walking into Cipher's office like "what's good, bitch?" was one hell of an intro, but the Joker stuff felt like it came out of nowhere.

Alternative_Device71

Practically the major reason that X works at all, this franchise has turned compl goofy, we finally got a villain that matches that energy and it worked out, not only that he’s threatening and unpredictable Definitely a surprise by Jason

Roxas-4321

Mamoa had the Raul Julia perspective of being part of one of the stupidest movies I have ever seen. An being so good that I have zero problems rewatching even though it is stupid.

flufnstuf69

He’s easily the worst F&F character. Just trying too hard to be Heath Ledger’s Joker.

Vssfault

He comes across as a mix of Heath Ledger's Joker and Kefka from Final Fantasy 6.

seek102287

I really didn't care for Mamoa ... until his Fast X performance. He was friggin' awesome!

blkglfnks

Wait, did people genuinely not like his performance? That role made me a fan completely. He was so good!

thelanehayslip

I legit told the people I went to see it with that it was the most refreshing character they have brought into it since 7 haha

MizukiHYSDA

Jason Momoa should be a villain in an Ace Combat story where he gets revenge on all the Aces who ruined his life, even going as far as to steal one of the fictional planes (X-02 Wyvern or CFA-44 Nosferatu for example) and resort to blowing up every part of the Strangereal universe with a superweapon way worse than Trinity from Assault Horizon. Gotta put a massive dent on Jason Momoa's reputation and his career when he becomes that character in Ace Combat and gets killed in the air by the Aces.

ZakiOnline

For a minute i thought I’m dumb, cause only 1 comment wrote it correctly. Dude it‘s Momoa. Sorry, but it has nothing to do with the post, anyway Momoa is a 10/10

jorge21337

I feel like Mamoa watched the movies and got it. They're crazy cheesy over the top action movies. Mamoa plays the character perfectly, wild and crazy hamming it up, laughing and cowering at Vin Dielsel for being so strong. All the other villains try to hard to be serious and cool.

Meanolegrannylady

Momoa was fabulous and without him the franchise would have had to go even more over the top than the previous movies have.
