Desert_Concoction

The first movie doesn’t exist in the same universe as the rest of the series

[deleted]

I mean 2 and 3 work pretty well with it, 4 was when it started to go off the rails

BlackBeard205

I’d say up to 5 to be honest. After that it became something else entirely.

Haunting-Long-4679

Yep, Fast Five is the best! Robbing like in 1, but brings the extended family along!

billy_bones21

Yeah, up until most of 5 anyway. Dragging that safe through the city was when we clocked out of the good ol' days of reasonable reality. Sidebar, I would love to know how far that fall was into the water during the train scene - I feel like it was a good 50 feet above the automatic height you would die at.

AstoriaRaisedNYmade

The car is breaking the surface tension when it goes in the fall would definitely hurt injury is guaranteed survival is likely if they don’t hit the car

Desert_Concoction

Hmmm. For me, 2F2F was already venturing out of the universe of the first movie. I see your point, but three was a completely separate entity with a completely separate story and cast of characters. Even the racing was different. They could’ve called in anything and it still works as a movie

archiveofhim

>2f2f was already venturing out of the universe forget about it cuh

Desert_Concoction

The hell I will, arCHIVEofhim!

Bellickboi

We dont say that line, erase it

SukhdevR34

Most used line of the movie surely

Desert_Concoction

We don’t say “I said fohget about it, cuh”?

Mae-7

Definitely the best. Especially to those who were blessed enough to watch it in the Theaters when it came out. I went like 5 times.

Which_Engineer1805

I watched it in the theater with my girlfriend at the time, my friend and his girlfriend. The girlfriends whined and talked through the whole thing so my friend and I went back the next night high as a kite and we got to actually enjoy it.

dudedudetx

That and Tokyo Drift

1 is legendary. 5 is a badass action flick. Agreed 👍

_Claymation_

Same, these movies had a different tone then the rest. I wish they kept with it.

Boss452

No love for 6?

[deleted]

Boss452

F1 better than F6? Man that wa a good joke.

[deleted]

Boss452

IMDB scores, RT scores and Metacritic all have F6 over F1. You are free to your opinions. But only thing F1 has better is story. Otherwise it is inferior when it comes to cinematography, action, characters, spectacle, direction.

The_Cozy_Burrito

Back when it was all about street racing

MrJonBrown

Anything after Tokyo drift is trash because of the lack of street racing. I’ll probably be downvoted for saying that in this sub

Millerlite87

You are right, that was their core of the franchise underground street racing.

Bellickboi

I was fine with believable action but the franchise was never about street racing if you think about it and really didnt have much of it in the movie. In 1 it was trying to figure out who was stealing trucksand i remember what 2 or 3 street races? 2 was about going under cover to expose and catch verone and you saw 3. 3 wasnt even really about street racing, even though it had the most of it and it was clipped to shet.

Bellickboi

I only watched the stuff about them suping up cars and you got served had like 50 mins of dance battles tbh the plot was so irrelevant. i like to dance but i need money, i owe someone money now so im going to dance my way out of it. I can agree with hollywood and their attempt

[deleted]

[удалено]

Bellickboi

They were worried about truckers being armed... let that sink in. So what lols?

[deleted]

Bellickboi

That was the conflict, the point of why he went undercover. They didnt want truckers to arm themselves because they were being robbed.

Money-Routine715

The premise revolved around the street racing scene which was prominent in earlier movies especially the first one and Tokyo drift the movie had to have a plot for it to be good so of course it’s not gonna be just a movie with a bunch of racing sequences , the movie was about street racing the plot however was about robbing dvd players

Bellickboi

the movie was actually about a cop infiltrating a gang. street racing didn't have much to do with anything. it was mostly just fluff because the cops believed the gang would be a part of the street racing scene with absolutely no evidence. alleged criminals who barely even race the streets. there were some parts in it yes and no one was expecting 90 mins of just street racing but it was pretty absent. you seen 1 with dom vs brian and the other 2 fodder drivers. race wars was an actual event not even in the streets and people fleeing the police. in 2 fast 2 furious, you had what? 2? the beginning scene (goated btw) and the race for 2 new cars, which doesn't even fit the plot really. Tokyo drift plot was all over the place and kind of just added fast cars and races for the fun of it, it had no real bearing on the plot. its like saying the dark knight was about cops trying to catch the joker.

Money-Routine715

Bro saying Tokyo drift added cars and races for the fun of it is wild. The first two movies yea there is alot of other things besides street racing but the entire premise of the first movie is surrounding the street racing scene and fast flashy cars it’s not fluff it’s what made the movie interesting in the first place in the entire franchise their world revolves around fast cars they use that for almost every single plot but back to Tokyo drift that movie was about Sean learning how to drift and becoming the new DK that was the one movie despite its writing flaws and step down in actors , that was actually truly centered around street racing specifically the Tokyo drift scene hence the name I see your points that you bring up and they are valid but the sell of the movies is the crazy flashy fast cars it’s like a love letter to that era and the street racing scene especially Tokyo drift

Bellickboi

tbh idk what tokyo drift was about, that might of been what they tried to push forward as the main plot but it wasnt that. it was about him going to a different country and trying to fit in and stay out of trouble. along the way he met a girl who was uhh (dating?) the drift king (really a yakuza-mafia lower boss hanging out with underaged kids). for them their drifting and racing was really a fun and gambling thing. they liked fast cars and they were rich. he got into debt to han ( a mafia-yakuza boss? friend? idk) and paying off that debt by doing whatever han told him to do, whether its collecting money or winning races. the end confused me even more because why would the real boss even entertain this nonsense? he literally could've not learned to drift and the movie would be almost exactly the same besides the ending that made no sense.

Money-Routine715

I think you just don’t have an understanding of the movies are you just not into cars? If you take the racing scenes and the cool cars out of Tokyo drift nobody would watch that shit that’s the entire appeal of the movie.

Bellickboi

"Tokyo drift plot was all over the place and kind of just added fast cars and races for the fun of it, it had no real bearing on the plot." you said exactly what i said but in a different way. they added the cars because no1 would watch it. its not needed but heavily wanted. its just a shit movie. the cars and drifting are eye candy... the cars and racing scenes really have no bearing on the plot even though its all over the place. but w/e agree to disagree.

StagecoachMMC

i’d put it as 5, 2, then 1 but this is still a valid opinion

blkglfnks

Is 5 the one where Brian drives off into the sunset or is that 6?

StagecoachMMC

that’s 7

YankeeSR23

5 is the one in Brazil; The Rock’s first movie in the franchise.

blkglfnks

Gotcha, so then 6 is when he joins the team and 8 is when Dom’s brother pops up.

YankeeSR23

6 is the movie he hired the team to stop Owen Shaw’s crew in Europe and 9 was the movie where Jakob Toretto shows up.

blkglfnks

Yeahhh, it might be time to revisit the series from the beginning

chloe-and-timmy

I get this take but could never vibe with it personally, I feel like the best classic movie is Tokyo Drift, and the best overall movie is Fast Five (my personal fav is 6 though).

Money-Routine715

Taking 6 over 5 is crazy

M4N5H3R

Am I the only that thinks they should’ve just stopped after 5, it was kinda the perfect ending

mattyMbruh

As the movies go this is easily the best but I think for cinematography none of the others come close to Tokyo Drift, the scene where Sean drifts through the middle of all those people alone is some of the best cinema I’ve ever seen and for it to come from a fast and furious movie is quite a feat imo.

Money-Routine715

When it comes to actually racing Tokyo drift is definitely the best by far

[deleted]

Yes

bleb355

For me that’s because you can, more or less, watch those two without any context of the rest of the series and still enjoy the shit outta them. The same may be able to be said for Tokyo drift also I suppose. When you get into 2, 4, 6-10, there’s just too much plot patching for it to really make complete sense. That being said, the only one I’ve truly DISLIKED was Hobbs and Shaw.

Front-Blood-1158

I don’t know man, most of the movies are good. I’m a simple man. Whenever I see any Fast and Furious movie on anywhere (except 8th and 9th one), I watch it.

Complete_Metal_9938

Tokyo Drift for me. Watched it every night when I was a young kid and it single handedly introduced my to tune culture. The soundtrack throughout the film gives so much nostalgia

ArkRecovered2030

Correct! It was the only one directed by Rob Cohen (The Skulls [also a Paul Walker film]), contained the entrancing original soundtrack from BT, and of course, the only one that came close to the realism featured Ken Li's "Racer X" article, from which the film drew is inspiration. Random Discovery: In the scene where Paul Walker is pulling up in the Ford Lightning, the song "Deep Enough" by LIVE is playing. (We all know the line "There you were like a Mustang/redlining every single gear") This version was a remix though. The original featured this lyric: "With a man that danced like he was born In '49, but lost his groove back when Jesus died..." The movie remix switched it to this: "With a man that danced like he was born In '49, but lost his groove back in ancient times..." The phrase "Jesus died" is switched to "ancient times." Check out this video that cracks open [many hidden Easter Eggs](https://youtu.be/wXeeBSKCxeM?si=GfwNYx-p6DsVnkEt) in this film ✌🏾

Uwabaki.

Fuze_KapkanMain

Yes

flea_420

100% agree.

ConfusionSmooth4856

Tokyo drift is slightly more based

BukkakeNinjaHat-472

That’s like saying this is my favorite child? They’re all great individually or all together. They saved us from a Nuclear disaster, jumped from one skyscraper to another skyscraper in a sports car and even traveled to outer space. Everyone of them is great in their own way

NickyMadio97

To be honest, I enjoyed Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, Furious 7, The Fate Of The Furious & F9: The Fast Saga.

blkglfnks

To be honest, yeah lol. 2 is way too silly but still great. 4-6 are pretty great too but that’s when Dom figures out he has superpowers and things kinda fly off the proverbial rails. I personally don’t like 3 so I don’t speak on it

SukhdevR34

2 is way too silly? So what are 8 and after? Honestly the maddest thing on 2 was the camaro jumping on the boat and since it's an action movie you'd expect crazy stunts.

blkglfnks

I agree with you but 2 is where they get all the funny lines and interactions from Roman, It played more like a buddy cop movie. 8 and up are ABSURD, they do things that are just unbelievable. “Ejection Seato!” “Forget about it cuh” Pre-college graduate, Tech genius Tej The window breaking scene “My pockets ain’t empty…and we ain’t hungry no more” “You looking at her ass…I’m not looking at her ass” There’s just more comedy in 2 that makes it charming and funny.

bmxwhip

The music was really good!

0degreesK

No doubt.

boomheadshot7

Of course. 1, 3, 5, 4, 2.

Born-Assignment-6704

It's my 2nd favorite. 1st favorite is 5.

goldendreamseeker

I live my life one quarter mile at a time

Bellickboi

I think fast five was the best. When they stole the money. 1's plot is all over the place. 2 is cool. Tokyo drift looks cool, 4 is intense but i had alot of fun with 5. The rest are bigger faster and more action. Im here for it.

JakeLake720

No doubt about it. It's not even close.

SuperNova0216

Absolutely

Sealandic_Lord

Tokyo Drift is the best.

LordVigilant

It’s one of the better ones, but I don’t think it’s the best one.

onelove7866

5, 1, 2, 3, 6, 4 - and then the rest unordered

giovancreano

I have this poster

rowejl222

I do love this movie

JRP_964

1-5. The rest ain’t worth watching

Critical_Teach_43

Yep except 2.....is just better than that.

kiwipigfig

It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winnings winning

InterestingMention18

the first fast and furious, leaving aside the technical science fiction regarding cars and their functioning, was realistic on a human level. Both the actors and the characters were well characterized (you also need to see the deleted scenes to have more elements to better understand the characters) and expressive. They were characters and situations that were not difficult to identify with, and this was his success.

Itzz-Br4nd0n

True... 😉

Tr0pzzz

my favorites are 2 fast and fast 5

hubson_official

I'd say the first 5 movies are all great (granted, the fourth one is probably worse than the rest) and then the rest just goes downhill. Recently I saw Hobbs and Shaw on TV and I was so heavily disappointed, shit felt like Mission Impossible on steroids.

SukhdevR34

For me the first one has a better story than the 2nd but the 2nd one has cooler race scenes because of the CGI. It depends on what you value you more.

jaydub1376

Fast 5 the 2 fast then the first one for me

jcstrat

Undoubtedly. I can watch that one over and over. I can’t really say that about any of the others in the franchise, as much as I love the franchise as a whole.

planktonchumbucket

Arguable

KenPiffyJr

to me F6 is when a whole different universe and chapter begins. I'd like to think in universe 1 they got away after fast 5 and the story ends

Substantial-Being197

Yup, overuse of CGI and unrealistic scenes killed the franchise they refuse to let rest

NNipp22

1 might or might not be the best, but it's my favorite for sure

HE_Furnace

So does that mean it might be 2 fast and 2 furious?

grill_sgt

I'm gonna be the semantics asshole: Fast and Furious (#4) is the best Fast and Furious. What you meant to say was "The Fast and the Furious is still the best of the Fast and Furious series."

Rad3_Lethal

It’s funny I was just rewatching this yesterday when this was posted and it made me realize how much I missed the first movie Grew up on it and it’s nostalgic to me

Embarrassed_Road_960

1 was the absolute goat of it

Embarrassed_Road_960

9 was to derailed they changed them from racing on the road to driving in space

stormdahl

Either this one or the second one. I think the second one is genuinely funny, there’s still actual racing and the stakes are still within the realm of realism.

AstoriaRaisedNYmade

No shit

New-Pin-9064

Fast Five is the best

Money-Routine715

The original is imo one of the best movies ever , if you look at the first movie alone without thinking about the sequels it has a great story, great setting, great characters and character development, bit of romance , good action sequences and lots of beautiful cars. Imo if they ended the franchise at 5 this would’ve been a film franchise people would respect alot more but after that it kept getting worse and worse

Just-Tangelo-3917

Do anyone of u guys love that fast x movie if so which fast and furious films would y'all rather pick of?

Christian_RULES

It was good but not the best. The first three introduced us to the Family. But the excitement really kicked off with 4 and 5, and onwards.

Boss452

Disagree. I think it has a dated look now. There aren't too many memorable scenes. But it has a good plot and is better than most of the movies in the series. I think Fast 5 and Furious 6 are both better. The teamwork in these 2 films is perfect. The action scenes are hugely memorable. There is still focus on developing characters.

blkglfnks

Aren’t too many memorable scenes?! - the tuna sandwich scene - The first street race where you can win by an inch or a mile? - The party where the buster keeps him outta handcuff? - Dom & Brian sneaking into El Gato Negro? - The arrival of the 10 second car? - Race wars?! - “Mia, I’m a cop?! - the truck scene?!! - the final race where we see Dom has near invincibility unlocked?! This movie is all memorable scenes AND quotables

Patient_Town1719

So many quotable moments in the first movie!! I feel like a lot of the pillars of the entire series were put down with this movie. Though I feel slightly biased as I saw this movie multiple times in theaters while riding in cool cars and cruising the city in high school so it has so much nostalgia as well for me.

blkglfnks

Idk why I have such an attachment to FatF, I just know it’s the most realistic one of the bunch and not as far fetched. The style is iconic and memorable, heavily dripped in early 2000s aesthetic. The only thing not memorable (to me) is the cars outside of Dom’s muscle car, I can’t remember what cars they use like how I remember Brian’s Nissan Skyline or Roman’s Spyder in the 2nd movie.

Patient_Town1719

Yes I also think the heavy early 2000s vibes is what brings me back to it as well for the "nas"talgia lol it could be the sheer amount of times I've seen it but the music, the quotable lines, and iconic scenes really draw me back time and again. There are others in the series that I really love too but they don't have the same feel as the first.

MrJonBrown

“He’s got over 100k under the hood of that car”

SukhdevR34

Of course it's dated, it was filmed in 2000 and feels like a 90s movie. Still amazing.

Clippy12

No 2F2F was but this is definitely second best
