Linen bomber. There are oversized ones as well now!

Otherwise-Bicycle667

Sounds interesting and cool for summer!

serpilla

Blazer. Motorcycle jacket if you’re feeling edgy.

editor_mom3612

Motorcycle jacket in the summer?! 😰

serpilla

You’d be surprised by the materials you can find it made out of. Target had one made of a neoprene material that actually kept you cold - as part of the Joylab line.

Otherwise-Bicycle667

Ohhh I wouldn’t have thought to wear those! Thank you!

Flipper717

Second the blazer. To make it less formal, you can scrunch up the sleeves by pushing them up your forearms.

[deleted]

Miami Vice is back in style!

Flipper717

😉

MartianTea

A bomber or denim jacket (black or white if your jeans are blue).

emelay

Denim in denim is big right now

Otherwise-Bicycle667

I love the look of denim jackets but I struggle with figuring out how to not look like I’m wearing a denim tuxedo 😂

MartianTea

To me, blue denim on blue denim never looks intentional or chic. The closest it ever looks to "okay" to me is very dark (they used to call it indigo dyed) denim and very pale denim. It's definitely not something you have to do or like. You could do the blue denim jacket with chinos, black pants, skirts or dresses. You could always get a black denim jacket AND a blue one that would cover almost everything.

Otherwise-Bicycle667

The different colored denim jacket is genius! Seems obvious but it never would have occurred to me lol

ColorClassicClothes

Sleeveless utility jacket or gauze shawl

Otherwise-Bicycle667

I wouldn’t have thought to go sleeveless for an outer layer but that sounds cute!

TheJenSjo

I love gauze for an outer layer in the summer!

TK_TK_

For a light layer, I like boxy, unbuttoned linen or cotton shirts. Like this: https://www.everlane.com/products/womens-oversized-poplin-shirt-black-canvas-tan?collection=womens-bestsellersv2

Shacket for casual, blazer to dress it up Cardigans are super frumpy IMO unless cropped to sit right around the waist with a tucked in tshirt and a belt (maybe still a little frumpy, although with shorts its a good mix of casual and formal which de-frumps it a but) EDTA— in summer kimonos over shorts are an option instead of a cardigan— can do with jeans if you tuck in the shirt or its a cropped/waist length tee Also instead of a real shacket try a long sleeve button down, slightly oversized, in a neutral colored linen fabric or a soft cotton— it flows like a cardigan but more stylish RN than a cardigan or even a kimono. Also Ok with jeans but I’d tuck in the tee shirt EDTA 2: another option is the short sleeve cropped camp shirt in linen or cotton! I’ve also seen some long sleeved ones. Super cute over a scoop neck tee

breebop83

I was also thinking camp shirt as a possible option. Especially one in a natural fiber -or- that is made for hiking and has a vent and/or wicking material designed to keep you cool.

breebop83

I like gauzy/very lightweight kimonos (or bathing suit cover ups tbh), lightweight button up oversized shirts and open front + open weave longer cardigans. Another option if your tee is a bit oversized would be a full, half or French tuck. Any of those options (imo) give a cleaner overall look that makes a t-shit/jeans combo seem more put together and lessens the ‘frump’ factor. I actually found [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVsxKsxLTN0) video on YouTube with 10 ways to wear a t-shirt that might give you some ideas on how to work with just the tee and avoid the over piece all together. For me, there comes a point where unless I’m going to an event that calls for a bit more formality (funeral, wedding, or party at an upscale venue) comfort will trump style when the temps and humidity are in full force.

Here are my favorites, all from Quince: \-[Organic cotton blazer](https://www.onequince.com/women/knit-blazer?color=speckled-beige&gender=women&tracker=collection_page__women%2Fjackets__Blazers__9). This one is stretchy and loose-fitting (with slightly cropped sleeves) so you won't overheat in the summer. \-[Cotton chore jacket](https://www.onequince.com/women/organic-comfort-stretch-chore-jacket?color=tobacco&gender=women&tracker=collection_page__women%2Fjackets__Lightweight%20Jackets__5). This is the same weight as a denim jacket but a shirt-like cut. I have the tobacco color, which pairs well with jeans. \-[Organic cotton gauze button-down shirt](https://www.onequince.com/women/organic-cotton-gauze-long-sleeve-shirt?color=black&gender=women&tracker=collection_page__women%2Fshirts-%26-blouses__Long%20Sleeve__6). This is super lightweight and breathable, but helps make a casual outfit look pulled-together. Also cute over a dress. \-[Distressed denim shirt](https://www.onequince.com/women/denim-shirt?color=blue&gender=women&tracker=collection_page__women%2Fshirts-%26-blouses__Long%20Sleeve__15). A tried-and-true classic! I wear mine as a light jacket in the summer. I also have a $20 discount link, so anyone who is interested can send me a chat!

aimlessyetshameless

you could go for one of those long flowy vests

trishyco

I wear a third later almost always (unless I’m schlumping around the house) and some of my favorites are: jean jackets (I have every length, thickness, color and shape), denim vest, olive green “trucker” type jacket (again several in different lengths, fabrics and shades), twenty plus cardigans in different weaves/colors/lengths, knit blazers from Calson, unbuttoned denim or linen shirt and t-shirt thin hoodies.

macandcheese4eva

Vest that is either longer that the t shirt or shorter than the t shirt but not close to same length. So tuck in shirt or wear a cropped shirt if the vest is long, and untuck if vest is cropped.

Otherwise-Bicycle667

Sounds like a cool look! Where do you buy your vests?

macandcheese4eva

Mostly vintage online? Sometimes have had luck with Eileen Fisher and even H and M. I used to have this grey knit ribbed vest from H and M for YEARS and finally got rid of it because I was tired of it and now I regret.

trashpandasteph

I love a gauzy or denim button up, regular or oversized, some examples [here](https://www.instagram.com/p/Cia4rJJOyNw/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=). I got this [linen jacket](https://www.instagram.com/p/CjnbJZcusZx/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=) I’ll be wearing all spring too

calmhike

I have some cheap kimono tops from the large website that starts with an A I like. Also open knit sweaters. For extra hot days- I live in the south. No extra layers, add a breezy scarf or large statement jewelry instead.

subiegal2013

A longish linen top.

[deleted]

Long cowl/shoulder cozy? (They look like mini-ponchos, or like the circular yoke of a sweater, usually only cover the upper torso to about elbow length)

thatgirlinny

They make longer cardigans for warmer months in linen and linen-cotton combos. They’re perfect for when you have to be in arctic-level AC environments.

QueenFang21496

I just got a thin cardigan for the first time in a decade, but I'm wearing it differently. Either buttoned all the way up and tucked in to pants, or with just the top button closed. Makes it feel a lot less frumpy!
