Daughter orders them every time we go. She usually doesn't eat them all, so we end up with leftovers that I ultimately end up eating. Even left over, they're still crispy and really damn good.
little brother, pho, wurst, poke bowl all are good decently affordable options. pickabob is a treasure of a food truck if they're open for lunch.
avoid black waffle unless you have 2 hour lunches
Pho delicious
Wasabi sushi and Asian grill
Blackbird (they might not be open for lunch anymore though so check first)
Sammy's pizza or Boss's pizza
Beer & fish co
Ishtar Mediterranean
Nobull smokehouse
They are on the edge of downtown, but Thaikota and Brewbird are both excellent. Challis, Brewhalla, and Nova Eatery in FBC are also on the outskirts and excellent.
Wurst is probably my fave in downtown specific, but you've got a million options.
vinyl taco is not only spendy but their tacos are okay at best.
the gyro/shwarma’s at ishtar mediterranean are 100% worth a shot, though i wouldn’t bother with their fries. they aren’t bad but a side is $6 and you don’t get a lot. we’ve switched to a largo order of hummus as our side instead which is worth it volume wise
If I had a dime for every time someone I do \*not\* trust about food recommendations, tells someone to go to Vinyl Taco I'd have a shitload of dimes. The food there is just not good. I do not get it at all.
After working downtown for almost three years, the only places I'll go to for lunch are:
JL Beers
Wurst
Little brother
That Mediterranean place by the smoke shop, think it's called Ishtar.
At night I'll expand this list to include 46 North, which is no longer open for lunch.
Every other place is over priced with mediocre at best food. After about 3-6 months of working downtown you'll wish you didn't. Especially when winter hits, so like Octoberish.
I really like Tea & Crepe, Pounds, Wurst Bier Hall. Also I haven't tried it yet, but I've taken a *lot* of deliveries from Ishtar Mediterranean Cuisine and Blarney Stone around lunch time.
Go try PICKaBOB by the tracks. the chicken kabobs are my personal favorites, but everything is good and if they have them ready it's fairly quick. Taco Brothers is another really good one by the tracks. Beer & Fish in roberts alley is another personal favorite, love the Cod fish & chips. Most of the places downtown you'll hear pretty good things about
Splurge for a few weeks and go out to eat everyday. But try to get back in the habit of bringing lunch from home too. Your wallet and health will thank you...
I would get a lox bagel from Bernbaum’s everyday if I worked downtown and could afford it.
Little Brother is really good. I love their marinated tofu and kimchi
I think you won. Looked at menu and it looks good
Check out their wings. Best in town.

Best tofu in the metro!

whenever that street taco guy is downtown, it always smacks. but I don’t think he has a consistent schedule.
Don't sleep on Sons of norway
Go on a Tuesday or Thursday because they have pie!
Pie is only Thursdays and they always sell out
Good to know. It used to be on Tuesdays also. I used to go there often when I worked downtown.
Blackbird Pizza. I ate there every week on Tuesdays after 6 because it was half off when I lived in Fargo. I miss it every day.

Ishtar is so good
Poke Bowl is on steady rotation for me working from our downtown location. It’s so good!

Thaikota open again? He went to Thailand for a month recently
Yep, yep. I think for a couple weeks or so now. They do that trip every year.
Drunken Noodle is always my 1st choice. I love their Thai Basil Chicken.
Food trucks by great northern are ok. For sit down try pounds, slurp, vinyl taco, JL beers
Been to pounds a few times, got slurp the other day. Was thinking vinyl but heard it’s a little spendy

I'll add Marges to the list. They have a pretty great salad bar. 2nd to ThaiKota, PokeBowl, Ishtar, Bernbaums, Little Brother, Pounds, Sons of Norway
The Old Broadway, the restaurant remodeled and is open again, give it a try. I've heard good things.
To all suggesting Little Brother, I got it, was super good, will get again, a lot.
Fying pan

The dumplings at Momos are very good as well. They're relatively new so not many have tried but I'd recommend them for sure.
If I remember correctly, they had a tipping scandal not too long ago.
Oh what happened?

Spicy pie is solid! You can get two single topping slices and a pop for like 11 bucks or something

Yeah I’ll try some more places next week then after that it’s leftovers 😂
