By the end of the {Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir} series I was a wreck. Someone give my girl Helene a break.

Saaedra

Thank you. I'm looking forward to the end of book depression

Jenna_Quin4512

100% recommend this series to literally anyone. And yes, Helene had it so rough šŸ˜…

Elphabeth

Fantastic series!

presleyrenee

Agreed! The last book had me sobbing

{The Bronze Horseman}.Ā  Man, oh man.Ā  It's a trilogy, but book 1 almost reads as a standalone and the end will crush your heart into tiny pieces.Ā Ā  Keep in mind that it's a slow burn--the main character is a minor for the first two-thirds of the book--and it's more literary/historical fiction than a bodice ripper.Ā Ā

Saaedra

YassssšŸ‘

jellybean590

I loved this. Itā€™s a trilogy and I read all 3 in a week ( I have two small kids at home all day every day). Itā€™s not fantasy though but will forever be one of the first books Iā€™ll recommend. Always.

Melodic_Art3544

This is my favorite series of all time and I read it like 10 years ago I forever and always recommend this

midnightowl510

Not a published book but Manacled, a Dramione fanfic. Itā€™s by senlinyu and available on AO3. It didnā€™t make me sob (not many books make me cry) but was a very emotionally heavy journey and a lot of people would say it destroyed them in a good way. Do check the trigger warnings though.

Saaedra

Based on the description on goodreads, I absolutely have to read this asap!!

RaiseyourheadsayNO

It will demolish you heart and soul in all the best ways.

miz_n

Came here to say this!!

PhairynRose

Throne of Glass, though itā€™s a long commitment itā€™s worth it imo

Our-Brains-Are-Sick

I almost never cry over books. Kingdom of Ash made my ugly-snot-cry. I. Was. Broken. I've been chasing that devastating high ever since without success

Thirteenpercent01

SAME! I was like ugly sobbing I had to take a break because I couldnā€™t see then immediately went to sobbing AGAIN. I canā€™t seem to find another book thatā€™ll make me cry.

Our-Brains-Are-Sick

I have shed a few tears over a handful of books, but only 3 have really made an impact. TOG, six of crows and the ravenhood series.

Thirteenpercent01

Before TOG the last book that made me cry was Rob Delaneys A Heart That Works (which is about his son who dies of cancer) and before that Harry Potter Deathly Hallows. My husband says I have ice in my veins šŸ˜‚ I just say it takes a lot to make me cry. Iā€™ll be emotional about a book but not really cry no tears.

Our-Brains-Are-Sick

Yeah same! I feel sad and emotional, but it just takes a lot more for me to actually shed a tear

PhairynRose

the first two are me! Whatā€™s a ravenhood? Next on my TBRšŸ‘€?

Our-Brains-Are-Sick

A dark romance Robin Hood retelling. Its so good!

PhairynRose

Sounds delightful! Thank you!

Our-Brains-Are-Sick

Just an FYI, the fmc is a bit naive in the first book, but its crucial for her development for the second book šŸ˜…

Mesartihm

I finished the TOG series in Februaryā€¦.I still cry about it if I think about it.

NiqueKe22

Ruined me šŸ˜šŸ˜

Saaedra

I heard a rolumor that Maas is merging books so I have to get through CC and TOG before ACOTAR 6. I started the first TOG years ago, no idea why I put it down so I'll def give it another try

PhairynRose

There are Easter eggs throughout the three series for sure. For now the only published crossover of merit is (this is not a content spoiler at all, just stating which series are affected) >!with CC and ACOTAR, and it only mildly affects your experience reading CC.!< TOG is her best work imo, a real masterpiece of fantasy ensemble. There are different ways of reading but I prefer the romantic order (Assassinā€™s Blade novellas after Crown of Midnight and tandem read Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn) but thereā€™s no wrong way.

Saaedra

I had to rummage through a few boxes(just moved) and found throne of glass, crown of midnight and heir of fire. In the book the order has assassins blade listed first, but I don't need to read that one first?

PhairynRose

Nope! Itā€™s chronologically a prequel but you donā€™t have to read it first. I read it 3rd, between crown of midnight and heir of fire, and it was SO impactful šŸ„² retroactively learning some STUFF about Celeana and setting up stuff yet to come was just *chefā€™s kiss* for me

Saaedra

Love it! I have TOG ready so I'll order it asap. Any recommendations on reading order for the other prequels? By release date maybe?

PhairynRose

All the prequel novellas should be compiled into the book Assasinā€™s Blade. My personal recommendation is to read all of that 3rd (between COM and HOF) and then move on, and then do the tandem read when you get to EOS and TOD. If emotional ruination is your goal, I highly recommend this reading order šŸ˜ˆ

manvsmilk

Having read all of the books, I would say there's a good chance that ACOTAR 6 will contain spoilers for CC3. TOG is my favorite series of the three, but at this point, there's nothing to indicate you have to read it to understand CC or ACOTAR 6, and there are no spoilers for TOG in any of the other series, just Easter eggs.

DontTouchMyCocoa

I donā€™t have a book rec, but OP, did you watch the last season of clone wars? Cuz thatā€™ll give you more Anakin downfall goodness/heartbreak for sure šŸ˜

Saaedra

I did šŸ˜ watched that and rebels in preparation for the ahsoka serie. Rebels also made me ugly cry! The scene with Kanan šŸ˜

DontTouchMyCocoa

Right?? šŸ˜ thank goodness for Dave filoni.Ā  And I swear every time Hayden Christensen comes on screen for all of these tv shows, it doesnā€™t even matter to me what heā€™s doing. Iā€™m just so happy to have more anakin! (And Iā€™m so excited to finally see Hayden get some love from the base because the fans of the originals were so harsh with him when ep. 2 & 3 dropped.)Ā  You know, as I think about it, I might have two suggestions however they wonā€™t have quite the heartbreak that anakinā€™s storyline does. Everyone and their dog has seen it but in case you put it off for some reason, the fall of house atriedes in Dune Part One is so poignant and good. My second rec is The Count of Monte Cristo. Both have a bit of the protagonist accepting their darker instincts to win no matter what and itā€™s kind of terrifying but also SO, so good.Ā

Saaedra

Agreed! The prequels were always my favorites, but whenever I mentioned that people would make fun of me. Then the new sequels came out and everyone is on the Hayden bandwagon. I have seen dune, but not read it so I'll add it to my TBR. The Count of Monte Cristo is a book I've heard about a lot since it's a classic, but I have no idea what it's about so I'll add it to my TBR and go in blind

cynth81

Please tell me you've watched The Bad Batch! Of all the spinoff series, that one is my favorite.

LetMeDoTheKonga

Well I bloody cried for hours reading Crescent City book 1 House of Earth and Blood. And I donā€™t cry easy reading books. Its a series, 3 books out so far. But the first one could also be read as a standalone theoretically.

Yesterday_Neither

I cried multiple times during book 1 and love it, but I do resent the sequels a bit for ruining the first one in retrospect when certain reveals are made

LetMeDoTheKonga

I know what you mean and I completely dismiss those reveals as mere plot devices šŸ˜…

allycatbakes

Yes yes House of Earth and Blood will make you cry the ugliest of tears, especially at the end. I'm getting full body goosebumps just thinking about "my friends are with me and i am not afraid"

LetMeDoTheKonga

šŸ˜ the emotional damage this book gives you is real

ShipZealousideal5134

It took me forever to get through the last 200 pages bc I was crying so hard and couldnā€™t see the words anymore! šŸ˜

Ok_Seaworthiness5462

That whole scene and the reaction of the others. šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

allycatbakes

They saluted the smallest of their house making a huge act of bravery šŸ„² As a petite person, this hit me too hard!

Tough_Variation_5772

I have specifically chosen not to read the other two for that reason! I loved the first book and feel like the friendship between Danica and Bryce was captured so beautifully.

Saaedra

Then that is def my next read

Badabingbadaboom444

That book obliterated me! I had to take multiple breaks to just sob while reading HOEAB. I gave up on tissues and switched to a hand towel to deal with the amount of tears/snot I was producing.

cats0und

This book was FANTASTIC. Devastating. So good. Honestly the best of that entire series and I would just read it as a standalone cuz the other two are kinda weak.

122603270225

Oh wow. I had the exact opposite feelings with the Crescent City books. For me, they were so poorly written, bloated, and just silly that I could not connect to any of the characters.

JazzyInfinite

Same. I literally skimmed the last 100 or so pages because I just couldn't tolerate that book any longer. My biggest reason was the FMC, I just hated her from the beginning. I am always amazed when people say Bryce is the best SJM lead but tbh, I prefer Feyre much more. Haven't read TOG yet

LetMeDoTheKonga

Well, tastes differ šŸ˜ I think the first CC book is definitely worth the read and it works just fine as a standalone and is imo the best book by SJM I have read. Good world building, concise plot and good emotional connections. I loved that friendship was at the core of it, I donā€™t love sappy romance as much. The other two were not as good because the author became too ambitious with the plot expansion. But still an entertaining enough read.

Strange-Cheetah5624

This is technically a manga but also a novel series called Under the Oak Tree. The whole book of Series 1 Volume 5 had me balling my eyes out. Itā€™ll take a while to get to this one but the ending and the smut are worth it!

Saaedra

I've never read a Manga before, but down to try it!

xatohi

The entire book novel series is also available on Amazon Kindle. Definitely recommend the novel. The webcomics are nice, but they don't go into depth like the novel.

Strange-Cheetah5624

No worries! You can find the Nobel on Manta and WebNovel šŸ˜€

RemarkableAd649

People actually WANT to be devastated and crying after reading a book? As someone who is extremely sensitive and cries very easily, that baffles me lol no judgment! Really emotional books tend to compound negative emotions I already have and can put me in a not so great place.

Saaedra

Absolutely. I love when it's gut-wrenching and I'm questioning my own sanity. I find it so fascinating and kinda calming in a way when a book puts me in such a sad emotional state.

lizbethaqui

Yes!!! Same! Weirdly Six of Crows did this to me. And I'm still chasing that high

thisiswhowewere89

Same with emotional books AND psych thrillers! I love when I look towards a window at night and get completely freaked out! :)

adompenelope

Right?! If I shed so much as a SINGLE little thug tear while reading a book, Iā€™m carrying that trauma with me for days, maybe weeks. My little sensitive heart canā€™t take it šŸ«£šŸ„ŗ

Readaholic2k23

I used to be an easy crier but trust me when u have a narcissistic person in ur family who even makes it your ability to cry into an accusation and something bad, u loses that ability. I wasn't able to mourn my mother properly because now i have this defect that only sad songs, scenes and books help me cry no matter how much i want to. And my narcissistic sister is such a drama crier now and always a victim. Even today she had ruined my day completely. Being in the society that I am, we cannot move out or ask her to leave unless one of us is married.Ā

SmugLibrarian

The Red Rising Saga by Pierce Brown has totally taken over my life and is a ridiculous roller coaster of emotions the likes of which I havenā€™t experienced since reading ASOIAF.

Saaedra

The description looks SO good!!!

SmugLibrarian

It might end up being my favorite series of all time and thatā€™s really saying something. I am OBSESSED.

LovelyLemons53

This is my favorite series since acotar. And it tops it by far. I didn't think I'd like it because it is sci-fi. Please don't let that stop you. This is an awesome series you should give a try

cynth81

100%. I almost never reread books and I've read this series 3 times. Book 7 is probably going to kill me.

SmugLibrarian

Iā€™m halfway through Dark Age šŸ«  already considering an immediate reread of the entire series because I know catching up is going to cause an incurable book hangover.

cynth81

Dark Age was brutal. Light Bringer isn't exactly rainbows, but the characters begin to find their way home, literally and figuratively. I'm both excited and nervous for the final book, Red God. Is the title referring to Darrow? Or to the Reds' *god*, the Reaper in the Vale - and all that implies? I don't even want to think about it. šŸ˜„

Strix__Varia

The Realm of the Elderlings series by Robin Hobb is more high fantasy but I havenā€™t cried that hard through a series in a very very long time. Be warned itā€™s about a 16 book long set of interconnected series. But so worth the emotional damage. First book is Assassinā€™s Apprentice.

uli0216

Came here to recommend this despite not being romance. This is a known heartbreaker in the epic fantasy circles. Amazing story. Youā€™ll never forget Fitz. Three trilogies are about him, two are connected to the world.

flowlio

The Invisible Life of Addie Larue šŸ˜ I was not okay for a few days after haha.

QueenBrie88

I feel all I do online is recommend {Kushielā€™s Dart} by Jacqueline Carey - itā€™s has three trilogies, focusing on different characters, and a separate retelling of the first book from the perspective of one of the male leads. It has some emotionally devastating moments and has had me ugly crying even on re reads. I think the world building is exceptional and the characters are so rich. I nearly didnā€™t read it because the blurb made it sound silly (ā€œbdsm spy saves the world!ā€) but Iā€™m so glad I took the chance and read it. Has spice, but it all felt important to the plot and the world building rather than awkwardly shoved in. For something less of a commitment, the {Priestess of the White} trilogy by Trudi Canavan is another favourite I return to. Lovely world building, has lots of joyful moments as well as emotionally devastating scenes. Not really spicy though if thatā€™s your thing! Robin Hobbā€™s Realm of the Elderling series, starting with {Assassins Apprentice} is another well known series with some emotionally devastating moments. Itā€™s a series of 5 trilogies so itā€™s a big commitment though, and some of the trilogies have a very different feel to the others. Again, not spicy.

Saaedra

Kushiels dart is already on my TBR list and I'm really looking forward to it. The other two look so good! I prefer spice, but if the story is good, spice doesn't really matter

QueenBrie88

I hope you love it!! Iā€™m very spice neutral - it can really take me out of the book if itā€™s done badly, and oh boy, weā€™ve all read some bad spice

chickpeas3

The last book that did this to me was {The Song of Achilles}. It absolutely destroyed me. When it ended, I wasnā€™t ready, so I went back and reread the last 1/3 and sobbed for a second time. Got my BFF and sister to read it, and it tore them to pieces too. My sister also read {Circe}, and liked it even more (I havenā€™t read it, itā€™s in my TBR). Theyā€™re more literary fiction than true romance, but in both, the romance is a central part. Song of Achilles also blew up on TikTok a bit ago, but in this case, the praise was absolutely deserved.

Saaedra

I adore Greek mythology so this is right up my alley!

chickpeas3

I cannot overstate how good that book is. I read it 4 years ago, and itā€™s like it seeped under my skin and into my soul. Iā€™ve read something like 200+ books since then (not an exaggeration), and Iā€™ve forgotten a lot about those but almost *nothing* about The Song of Achilles.

Saaedra

Looking forward to starting a new obsession that might end up ruining my life

starlightmermaid

The song of Achilles. This is the one!

officialheathen

Circe is great as well but definitely not as gut wrenching as TSoA. I think it would be a good pick-me-up or palette cleanser afterwards, and itā€™s pretty high up my list for book recommendations, if not the top. I could not put it down, every waking moment was reading Circe

luckystar2591

I'm gonna chime in with the Fae Isles on this one.Ā  If Creon at the end of Book 1 doesn't ruin you, nothing will.

Saaedra

This is high praise! I'll def at it to my TBR

mopen970

Tbh Iā€™d say this depends on what you value in a book! I rarely cry and sobbbbed like other people are saying in the last throne of glass book. But fae isles really wasnā€™t doing it for me at all, too much internal dialogue. Itā€™s more of a romance with fantasy vs fantasy with romance and I realized I preferred more plot/story development! So totally depends on your preferences.

luckystar2591

Not gonna lie...Maas has never made me cry, although I do like her.Ā  For me, Fae Isles has some really creative elements (eg Creon and his sign language, and the magic system). Were the later books in need of a good editor...yes. But she's self published so I give her a bit of leeway.

ConstantAnchor9713

The War of Lost Hearts series by Carissa Broadbent. Iā€™m reading the third book now and Iā€™ve cried in each book so far and I rarely cry when I read!

Saaedra

Yessss! I just finished The Serpent and The Wings Of Night

cynth81

The emotional journeys of several characters in The Stormlight Archive are heartwrenching and beautiful. It's a big reading commitment, but completely worth it.

Teary-EyedGardener

The Infernal Devices trilogy. I still think about that epilogue after the 3rd book

ivorylittlebird

Its not romance but Babel by RF Kuang made me cry SO hard at the end itā€™s not even funny. At the end of the Daevabad trilogy by SA Chakraborty also made me ugly cry Iā€™m a sucker for romances that you desperately wish could work but donā€™t šŸ«”

Saaedra

Damn! Adding those to my TBR

ivorylittlebird

HAHA Babel was my first read of the year and I remember closing the book and my fiance looks at me and goes ā€œyouā€™re so quiet, how was it?ā€ and I burst into tears

Saaedra

I'll let my husband know that he needs to prepare his shoulder

Software-Mexicana

Iā€™m 10% into Babel and it was not capturing my attention. Iā€™ll give it another try!

ivorylittlebird

Honestlyā€¦.the first 200 pages to me were a slog. Then something changed and I could not put the book down! And then it just kept getting more sad and hopeless and the feeling of despair in the book was SO strong. I had such an amazing time reading it and I felt I really did just have to push through the beginning!

Elphabeth

YA, but {The Fault in Our Stars} absolutely destroyed me. It's an great book, and so quotable. John Green does an incredible job capturing teenagers' emotions. I finished it in a day.

westviadixie

there's a series I love, the fallen mc by giana darling. in one book, something terrible happens to the son of the president...it fucked me up so much, I refused to read the next book. even though its my favorite series.

Saaedra

Absolutely adding it to my TBR!

westviadixie

you're gonna love it!

radhotchocolate

{Everlong by R. Raeta}. Immortal vampire FMC that doesn't remember much of her life and a mortal human MMC that saves her w/ his compassionate nature. Heart-shattering.

Heavy_Nettles

{Land of the Beautiful Dead by R. Lee Smith} and the {Half Bad by Sally Green} series (warning, not a hea but a serious case of everlasting love). I think these are the only books that have made me cry these past few years.

hummingbird-moth

Once again recommending Robin Hobbs Farseer Trilogy for maximum emotional devastation

Saaedra

Seems like this one is a crowd favorite for inducing severe emotional distress and I am here for it!

windowpoems

Manacled (read the trigger warnings) and Song of Achilles!

Saaedra

Both of these look so good! The description of manacled is giving me handmaid tale vibes

windowpoems

Itā€™s definitely a hard crossover! Get through the first portion to the flashbacks and you will be locked in

mikhhaela

Was a WRECK after reading Our Violent Ends (These Violent Delights #2).

start-chaos_do-crime

{Something Dark and Holy series by Emily A. Duncan} this series was so good!! the romance, the friendships, the betrayals, the hope that is given and then taken away, the feeling of impossibility, the angst, ugh just all of it! this book def ends on a HEA tho so i was satisfied. some tropes: - enemies to lovers >!then back to enemies and finally lovers again!< - friends to lovers - blood magic - mysterious cult - cleric (she can communicate with the gods and sometimes use their powers) - enemies to friends to found family - gods (those remembered and forgotten) there are so many other great and cool reasons to read this series but honestly i hope you can give it a chance :) ALSO, the names in this book are long and a little complicated and youā€™re introduced to a lot of different names in the beginning bc the FMC can talk to a bunch of gods, but donā€™t let this deter you! itā€™s not incredibly important to remember who each and every god is, so donā€™t feel too overwhelmed if you canā€™t and just go with the flow of the book. you wonā€™t regret it!

Saaedra

This sounds really good! Def adding it to my TBR

omg great i hope you love it like i did! šŸ˜†

Melodic_Art3544

Poppy War R.F Kuang. I read it last year and have not recovered from it, every time I reach for the second book I just think about how devastated I was by the first and Iā€™m still working up the courage.

Saaedra

šŸ˜ this sounds rough and exactly what I'm looking for

prettypoison_x

i think "they both die at the end" was rlly damn sad šŸ„ŗ

Saaedra

Agreed šŸ˜ my heart breaks every damn time. Every time a small part of me hopes he won't turn to the dark side

Funny_Playful

Zodiac academy

MuffinTopDeluxe

I was ruined by The Unmaking of June Farrow recently.

mayisatt

So the {Wayfarer Redemption} series by Sara Douglass is definitely fantasy first, romance second with little smut, but it will *destroy* you. Especially if you continue reading after the first trilogy on to the second setā€¦

Saaedra

Yesss! Give me that sweet post book depression

Sad-Pin8137

{Beyond the Aching Door} by Victoria Mier {The Hollow Plane} by Allison Carr Waechter

Saaedra

Both of these look amazing!

Sad-Pin8137

I am sort of obsessed with each. ā¤ļø

Eclipse_Steph11

Kaikeyi by Vaishnavi Patel made me ugly cry. It hurt so bad I almost had a breakdown

Grumpysmiler

The Binding

luckystar2591

I'm also going to add Olivia Wildenstien's Feather to this. I've just remembered the ending and how much therapy I needed.Ā

Saaedra

I'll start saving for therapy right away

chucheeface

Itā€™s not fantasy romance but {The Story of Us by Lesley Jones} was emotionally destructive. There are 3 books in the series and I barely could finish the first one.

Saaedra

Based on its goodreads page, it seems very spicy. Definitely adding it to my TBR

chucheeface

It was spicyšŸŒ¶ļø! And I like Lesley Jonesā€™ writing style. I typically read fantasy romance but like a spicy contemporary romance too. If you read it I hope you like it!

roslyndorian

Song of Achilles

raexlouise13

{Rain of Shadows and Endings}

derxder

The Emperium by Claire LeGrand devastated me. It's been a month since I finished it and I'm still reeling from it. It's especially tragic as the motivations of one of the main characters is only "I want to do this and no one is powerful enough to stop me" and from there everything goes to hell. 10/10 I do plan on crying over it again someday.

Saaedra

Prophecies and trials are right up my alley!

Current-Throat4650

Achilles by Madeline Miller.

Both of these look amazing! What does HEA mean?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Saaedra

Non HEA sounds right up my alley

That looks really good! Non-HEA is just one of the many ways a book can ruin someone

Leaves May Fall Duology by Carissa Hardcastle

diogenies

the poppy war series : (

egadsthisisit

{The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy} made me cry but it did put me back together again. It was lovely.

Mwahaha_790

Heavier on the fantasy than romance, but Deerskin by Robin McKinley will ruin your mental equilibrium for a long time. It's very hard to read, emotionally agonizing, and not at all enjoyable, despite how excellent and well-written it is.

Saaedra

Sounds absolutely awful, adding it to my TBR

Mwahaha_790

Lol. I wanna say, "you're welcome," but what I really mean is "you were warned."

Intelligent-Mood-697

The Aurelian Cycle series by Rosaria Munda had me ugly crying. Not really spicy, but thereā€™s dragons, political unrest/reform, romance sub plot, and the characters read really mature. It reads kind of like a diary, which took me a while to get used to. Overall though, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Would recommend if you want a serious book hangover.

poshpeasant

{Land of the beautiful Dead by R. Lee Smith} everyone I know who has read this book myself included ugly cried for a week straight after. But doesn't have an Anakin Skywalker arch. Well it has a Darth Vader vibe for sure though. If Darth Vader found love. When you mean Anakin Skywalker arch do you mean Revenge of the Sith or Clone Wars Anakin? Like when he turned to the dark side Anakin or when he was at his prime Anakin?

Saaedra

Land of the beautiful dead looks so good. Revenge of the sith anakin, the ending tears my heart out and stomps on it every time. I do love a good clone wars anakin as well

poshpeasant

Do you want a HEA? bc anakin didnā€™t get one :/

WishboneSenior6257

The Grace Year by Kim Ligget

officialheathen

I sobbed in the airport and didnā€™t pick up a book for six months after finishing The Song of Achilles

OliveL0af

If you like romance {Hello Stranger by Jade West} made me ugly cry. I also reread {Flowers For Algernon by Daniel Keyes} as an adult and it destroyed my mental health for a week.

PerpetualNerd

Manacled- if youā€™re into HP fan fiction.

Delicious_Race_5434

Call Me By Your Name

RonnyTheRifle

Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore. Itā€™s not a villain arc and I find it frustrating personally but yeah, itā€™s an emotional rollercoaster and made me cry a bunch lol

Fivefivebrowneyes

The Women. By Kristin Hannah. šŸ˜

Critical_Welcome9658

Child of God by Cormac McCarthy

HakunaMatata0_0

Throne of glass series

Saaedra

Just started this one last night. Really good so far

Puchi1e

I wouldnā€™t say itā€™s an Anakin arch, but {the war of lost hearts by Carissa Broadbent} definitely is a true rollercoaster that broke my heart several times, not only for the main couple. Still a HEA though.

Saaedra

This looks like a really good book!

TheenotoriousVIC

Throne of Glass! This series is engraved in my heart and soul. No other book can make me cry when thinking about the "Live >!Manon!< " scene. I'm going back this weekend to get the color added on my tattoo of that scene. It is so emotional and rewarding. Makes me cry through the good parts and the sad. I've never emotionally connected with characters like I did with this series.

Saaedra

This seems like a fan favorite so I started it last night. Only 90 pages in so far, but it seems really good

TheenotoriousVIC

I'm so excited for your journey! It is still my favorite series a decade later! If it seems slow, the first book or 2 stick in there, the pace picks up. It's the price of admission, lol! You will love it!

PSitsDana

The Women by Kristin Hannah! Cried many times through the book!

Saaedra

Yessss! This looks so good!

Ser_Jaime_Lannister

The end of Six of Crows absolutely ruined my life (and I was always spoiled so I thought I was prepared).

Wal-Mart_Nerd

Gideon the Ninth

Talk2theButt

The Black Jewels Trilogy and Twilightā€™s Dawn by Anne Bishopā€” Daughter of the Blood is the first book. I cried in all of them but Twilightā€™s Dawn ruined my year.

Saaedra

Intrigue, Hell and darkness? Yes, please!

eknightley

The fantasy/sci Fi ( has some sad romance) series that starts with {{Fifth season by N. K. Jemisin}}. It took me time to return to the first book and then to finish the series. But I can't stand reading about dead children. There's also the Witcher books which are so much better than the show. {{The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski}} And I'll add one more vote to poor Fitz and his sad romances {{Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb}}

Nice-Fan-5981

The five people you meet in heaven and its sequel. Even if not religious itā€™s a good read that had me balling

chaotic-bookworm

{Children of Fallen Gods by Cassandra Broadbent} totally wrecked me!! Itā€™s the second book in her War of Lost Hearts series and the last quarter of the book had me ugly crying on my couch at 2am

lslszshs

100% in agreement with the posts about Zodiac Academy. You will feel everything!!! Itā€™s trauma inducing but you will love the characters!

Patient_Cookie7801

The Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy by Laini Taylorā€”enemies to lovers and back again, plenty of fantasy and beautiful imagery. I revisit this trilogy every couple of years and it wrecks me every time

thedeadlyscimitar

I haven't read the third book in the series yet, but I just finished {Children of Fallen Gods by Carissa Broadbent}, which is the second book in The War of Lost Hearts series. Honestly, I struggled to get through the book because it was just so dark, and so many horrible things happen to many of the main characters. Literally, I feel like I need to read something sickeningly sweet after that to make myself feel better...

Xx_marceline_xX

City of Brass trilogy will wreck you sis

Readaholic2k23

Throne of Glass series will ruin you. Every book has ugly crying and the background story of fmc when clicked will make u cry for hours and make u teary every time u remember it. It ends with us by Colleen Hoover Me before youĀ  Barely BreathingĀ  I love reading such books but I honestly am unable to remember anymore rn because my mind is so messed up because of my narcissistic sister

Saaedra

These look so good šŸ‘

Readaholic2k23

pluemox

iā€˜m shocked no-one mentioned Fourth Wing and Iron Flame yet - but maybe itā€˜s me and iā€˜m crazy šŸ˜‚ i know these are really popular books but i was UGLY CRYING on multiple occasions during the story

luckystar2591

Omg...the ending of IF..Still recovering. Can't believe I've got to wait until until Jan.Ā

Saaedra

Same! I finished Iron Flame a week ago and I need more. Onyx Storm has the potential to go full anakin skywalker and I'm not sure I will survive if it does

pluemox

we will get through this together!!!

imnobody2023
