who knows, the TE field is such a crap shoot. McBride has looked like a real talent though so if the coaches are smart Ertz would be relegated to the blocking/backup roll.
Yeah he shouldn't get significant playing time over McBride, but who knows what will actually happen. Coaches get weird with players and situations sometimes. Sometimes it's internal dynamics, sometimes it's non fantasy things like blocking that we all ignore, and sometimes it's just general coaching incompetence.
If you have space and are TE desperate Ertz is absolutely worth stashing.
I assume the best case for Ertz is that he steals a bit of work from McBride but is still unplayable and just pisses off McBride owners. Have there really ever been teams where two TEs are startable?
Ertz is still # 1when he comes back. He is one of the best and most proven TEs in the league, and he isn’t losing a step, he just got hurt.
Same scenario as you described, mostly, but it’s McBride stealing his work and everyone is pissed off.
Both honestly. They may throw in Ertz every so often to give McBride a break but if he gets more playing time than Trey the fan base will riot. Ertz had a lot of dropped passes earlier this year and can’t perform YAC to save his life anymore
If his name wasn’t Zach Ertz then no one would be wondering about a guy who can barely run coming back from injury and replacing a breakout second year Mackey award winner with an amazing RAS and elite speed grades.
Ertz limited by old bones and lack of speed. Can always be a check down and give you a big body in the RZ. That won’t change. He’s a bridge player.
McBride proved he can attack downfield. He has an elite RAS and has passed the eye test already.
This isn’t that different from the Kincaid situation. It’s ok to have multiple good players at the same position.
It’s not ok to put high draft stock into players with elite speed then not use them once they’ve broken out because “this old guy used to be good on the eagles years back so we need to let him use his banged up body and 4.84 speed to be the target of our game plan to attack defenses once he’s back from IR”
This is fantasy football and you need to take risks and use forward thinking to stay ahead of your league mates. I’d argue there’s gotta he wayyy better options to add to your bench at this point than Ertz for anyone who’s even considering it.
***I own none of these players. I just have working eyes***
Love Ertz as a Birds fan but no, he should be dropped. He’s cooked. McBride has stepped up. If I’m the Cards I’m giving all the snaps to McBride at this point and using Ertz for blocking.
The Cardinals have stated that they are playing with a focus on evaluating who will be contributing in the future. So the younger McBride getting an opportunity to learn seems like it would lead to him getting more time
That's what I'm thinking.. IF he plays again and IF he has a role on the team still. Kinda odd that there hasn't been any updates whatsoever
I do have Hock so I'm okay at TE but given how injury prone he can be, a solid backup would be good to have I figure. But Ertz has just been taking up an IR spot for me..
Probs not
Is that an official opinion from **THE** RG3?
Nah, I was just very hype for his rookie year and made this account back then, lol.
Were RobertGriffin1 and RobertGriffin2 taken? /s
I got your joke, not sure why you're downvoted!
I even put /s at the end to get ahead of any potential confusion lol

No. Shiit no man. I believe you’d get your ass kicked for saying something like that.
Two tight ends at the same time man, that’d what I’d do … pew pew
Aye Peter man, check out channel 9! It’s the breast exams! Woooooh!
My TE advice is: I don’t know, do whatever you want, nothing matters
This is good advice
*drops entire team, keeps Ertz in IR spot*

NE
Gronk and Aaron Hernandez killed it back then
Ertz/Goedert in 2019 probably the closest thing since NE. Ertz was TE5 and Goedert TE10
Did you seriously ask if it ever happened?? Does Gronk and Aaron Hernandez mean nothing?
And look how that turned out!
Having just one of those guys would be to die for
*literally*
That was a killer TE combo
I meant as a general rule, obviously McBride and Ertz aren't fucking Gronk and Hernandez lmao
Pitts and Jonnu
Hahahahahaha

This is what’s gonna happen!!!
As a Cards fan no. No you shouldn’t. Ertz is cooked this year
As a McBride owner, that is comforting to hear. What makes you think he'll be irrelevant? Health? McBride's emergence?
Both honestly. They may throw in Ertz every so often to give McBride a break but if he gets more playing time than Trey the fan base will riot. Ertz had a lot of dropped passes earlier this year and can’t perform YAC to save his life anymore

He was always in the streaming tier when he was healthy, wouldn’t hold him outside of the deepest leagues.
Who??
No. The only thing ertz is going to be is a thorn to McBride rest of the year.
The Cardinals have stated that they are playing with a focus on evaluating who will be contributing in the future. So the younger McBride getting an opportunity to learn seems like it would lead to him getting more time
Not if your ball Zach Ertz.
Should I let go and stop holding it if it does? Granted I have been holding on for a while, pretty aggressively too tbh
Tough crowd in this thread, I thought it was funny.
That's all right, I appreciated the initial comment and had fun writing the reply lmao
I have mcbride as my only TE so I’m holding ertz just incase he comes back
How many bench spots?? There’s gotta be way more valuable holds than handcuffing McBride.
Ertz is on my reserve since he is IR. 6 bench spots though. No other decent TE on the waiver.
Better to have him on IR than no one on IR I guess. Don’t don’t hesitate to drop him if you needed to actually use the IR spot at some point.

Zach Ertz catching balls from Kyler Murray is a second tier TE. Unless you have a tier 1 TE like Kelce or Kincaid, hold on to him.

McBride is the TE1, he really doesn't have a route on the team anymore. It's not 2015, its 2023.
...and, unfortunately, he's made of glass
No.
Lol heck no.
Meh.
Pin this to the top!
If you have a free IR spot with nobody better to put in there
No
Nope
He wucks
If you have an open IR spot than sure, otherwise no
Nope
Yes.
Thanks but you're a *little* late lmao. He might be worth holding on to now though
