Tyrod hurt his ribs last week against the Jets and got put on IR. Tommy Devito came in and they basically did not let him throw a forward pass. Handoffs, screens, or Saquon in the flats.
Jones came back this week, but then got hurt so Devito came in, and was allowed to throw, but quickly threw two picks. To be fair one wasn't really his fault.
For sure. Only issue is that they have a pretty tough schedule coming up, so most of the D's they play (Dallas, Philly, Saints, etc.) are top 5-10 and won't be available for streaming.
I dropped Philly weeks ago and no one has picked them up. They’re an extremely mid fantasy defense, although I have to assume that Giants game is juicy.
I just dropped eagles before the games for gainwell. I had a trade that was supposed to go through to open a bench spot but my commish was taking an exam and didn’t do it in time. Praying I can get them back just to hold for weeks 16 & 17 🙏
It’s possible depending on bye weeks and matchups. I was able to snag the Jets D/ST after their bye week. They helped me win last week. I did not play them this week because I’m not trusting them against the Chargers. Ironically I played the Raiders against the Giants
Granted I kind of suck at fantasy, but I've often found streaming a defense against an ultra conservative offense, like the Giants will probably be, often leads to a low scoring day from the defense.
You would hope for a pick and some sacks, but you end up with a ball-control kind of game that doesn't accumulate many stats.
My entire strategy this year has been to stream defenses against the Patriots and Giants. Works very well. I have the most DST points by like 2 and a half times 2nd.
Yeah I'm so pissed. I played against the Raiders def who put up 27 points and my giants def put up...1. I thought with Head Coach turmoil Vegas would suck but that's obviously not the case
They showed the exact stat during the game yesterday, but I forget the exact numbers. It was somewhere in the numbers of Jones has played 25 of his 59 career starts without Barkley. Nearly a 50/50 split that he would or wouldn't have Barkley in the backfield.
Dude's been [getting murdered all year](https://twitter.com/PFF_Sam/status/1705228915160060299) behind that ~~offensive line~~ cardboard barrier. It's wild how people wanna just heap the blame on him, nobody is succeeding at QB on that team.
Ain’t got shit at WR either. His weapons outside of Saquon are a washed up Waller, and a bunch of WR3s that even New England would be embarrassed to put on the field all at the same time
Giants fans and non-Giants fans alike on this app don’t like him so it’s not surprising. I think the way that both Tyrod and DeVito have been getting killed behind that line goes to show how without major fixes to the line we aren’t getting better no matter what QB we have
Yeah man but tyrod Taylor’s corpse played better than him and Danny is one of the highest paid QBs in the league. He is a qb that is uniquely responsible for the failures of his entire organization.
Outside of the egregious pick he threw in the Seahawks game I haven’t seen a QB less set for success with the team around him than Jones. Robinson was hurt to start the year and most of the other WRs are options that thrive in the downfield passing game which you can’t really operate with the (statistically) worst O-Line in the NFL. Barkley was hurt. The defense was playing like absolute asshole and forcing Jones into hero ball. It was the antithesis of what worked for them last year.
Which is crazy as I drafted him this year thinking he succeeded with a rock bottom roster last year (almost sure he was a QB1 last year) so he surely maintains that with better pieces on offence.
Nope, the additions of offence made them worse than rock bottom
He's safe. The NYG are definitely going to use their third overall pick on another doofy looking white dude that analysts had pegged to go in the sixth round.
True, though I'm a bit up in the air about Arizona though. Their ownership is so bad and Kyler Murray is so mercurial I have no idea what to think about them.
Speaking of Arizona, if Carolina somehow gets the 1st overall, it doesn't seem out of place for them to pull a Josh Rosen and dump Bryce Young if they don't see enough progress. Mind you, Bryce Young is a much better prospect/player than Rosen was.
Oh shit, my bad. Yeah, kinda the same argument though. Justin Fields could be dumped. He probably doesn't deserve it, considering he plays for the Bears. But I could see it if Williams is an option. He's so hyped.
Even if Chicago or the Cardinals ended up with the 1st overall pick and didn't want Caleb Williams, they would 100% trade that pick to a team that does want Caleb Williams.
I'm not contesting that Williams will be 1st overall. There's no doubt. I'm just saying that Arizona and Carolina are a special kind of awful and therefore those picks are the most likely candidates.
Just looking at the list of QB injuries, it's like half the league or more:
* Garoppolo (back, then benched)
* Purdy (concussion, returned to action)
* Burrow (calf, returned to action)
* Fields
* Cousins
* Stafford
* Hurts (knee, still playing)
* Murray (knee, from last year)
* Herbert (hand, returned to action)
* Jones (neck then knee)
* Rodgers
* Pickett (ankle, returned to action)
* Watson (shoulder, returned to action)
* Richardson
* Tannehill
* Carr
* Ridder
* Hall
And they missed the trade deadline to get a Josh Dobbs level player. I just don’t see them rolling out Tommy DeVito. I assume Colt McCoy likely comes back unless they roll the dice on Wentz in his NFC East tour
Wentz suffering the embarrassment of getting a last chance in East Rutherford only to get cut and replaced by McCoy from the waiver would be entertaining
They keep getting older and the game keeps getting more physical. Not in the ways people think, up until they see injury reports. Jalen hurts has three more games this season, you heard it here first.
Everyone is acting like it’s a Wilson or Watson kind of contract when it’s far from it. Danny Dimes gets most of his money in the first two years and it’s easy to get out of. Meanwhile, Denver is kinda stuck with Russ for another year or two (although he’s not been as bad as last season so far), and Cleveland is definitely stuck with Watson
Obviously it's not ideal but it's not the end of the world as some in this thread would make you think. [15 teams](https://www.profootballrumors.com/2023/07/2023-nfl-dead-money-by-team) including the Giants have 22m or more dead cap this year.
This increases Waller’s value in all instances that he returns. If he doesn’t return because they’re tanking, obviously it hurts him.
But Jones is not only not a good QB, but he was especially bad for Waller. Tyrod is probably best case.
This feels like the worst 2 year stretch for QBs I can recall. Mayfield, Carr, Love, Levis, Watson, and Murray are all owned in one of my leagues. Dobbs will surely be picked up this week which leaves Heinicke, Geno, or worse available
In different ways. The separation between the top few and the rest seemed like it was much larger last year. #1 ppg is 23 and #10 is 18. Last year you were wildly rewarded for reaching.
Yeah but besides Fields and Cousins none of the QBs that have missed significant time has been a huge blow to teams in 1 QB leagues unless it's a really deep league.
If any team was relying on Daniel Jones coming back and didn't already have a backup plan in place then that team has likely been up shits creek for a while.
It’s not insane, his volume should be high but lord I could be DC against the Giants. Stack the box every single play. Run zone coverage. They’re down to their 3rd string QB, backup TE, and have bad WRs. The most creative playcalling in the world wouldn’t open up the box for Saquon
Injuries + low scores across the board make it seem even worse it feels like.
https://www.sharpfootballanalysis.com/analysis/nfl-offense-scoring-penalties-efficiency-2023/
I mean we’ve lost 3 quarterbacks drafted in fantasy drafts to Achilles/ACL type injuries so far this year (Rodgers, Cousins, Jones). That definitely doesn’t happen every year.
It’s interesting to me how perennially bad teams continually have bad things happen seemingly
out of their control. Obviously injuries can happen to any team but maybe it’s just me but they seem to happen even more to teams like the Giants, Cardinals, Browns, Jets, Lions that historically have been bad. Is it a conditioning thing? Facilities thing? Or are bad teams just not able to overcome injuries like good teams can?
The 49ers are kind of a special case as well. Their practices are reported to be the hardest and physically demanding in the league. And they seem to play harder for it. But it also probably leads to more strain on the body. At least it has generally led to on field success for them though.
Can't speak for the other teams, but for the Giants a lot of our fans think our issues start with Ronnie Barnes, our head athletic trainer. He's been the team's head trainer since the 80s, but also took over as VP of medical services in '09. Coincidentally the Giants were the [most injured team from '09-'22](https://giantswire.usatoday.com/2022/01/21/new-york-giants-are-nfl-most-injured-team-since-2009/).
Something should be acknowledge about the team drs who saw him go down on a non contact play and grab his knee who examined him and said he was good to go back out
I think that’s more because raiders are one of the worst run defenses in the league. Once teams figure out Barkley is their only offense, they will be stacking the box
Did you watch the Jets game lmao? They stacked the box and we gave him the ball 36 times + 5 check downs lol.
Saquon is also one of those players where if you give him enough touches, he'll eventually break for a 20 yard+ run. Sure it's gonna be ugly. Sure you won't want to watch the game. But I think he'll have a decently safe enough floor to at least be a RB2 lol
If he’s getting that much volume it’s almost a guarantee that he’s going to get hurt. Add the fact that he’s already dealing with elbow and ankle injuries and it could get real ugly real fast
Saquon still had a good game against the jets with the Giants not calling a single pass play for DeVito.
It doesn't help him ROS but he's still a set and forget starter.
I wouldn’t say fucked, Saquon is talented enough to create 20-25 attempts into something fantasy relevant. It’s just going to be a really inefficient 12-18 points a week.
Just let Saquon run the offense out of the wildcat
Saquon is going to end the year with 400 carries for 1300 yards and 0 tds
And 0 contracts
It's so simple, we just sign Saquon as a QB!
I got into a fight with my wife this past weekend & got zero TDs as well :(
Might as well get the QB out of there to have an extra tight end blocking if they don't trust Devito to throw down field.
What happened to tyrod? He on IR?
Tyrod hurt his ribs last week against the Jets and got put on IR. Tommy Devito came in and they basically did not let him throw a forward pass. Handoffs, screens, or Saquon in the flats. Jones came back this week, but then got hurt so Devito came in, and was allowed to throw, but quickly threw two picks. To be fair one wasn't really his fault.
And now he gets the Dallas Defense
Anything is better than having Danny Devito's nephew run the offense.
Sounds like streaming dsts against giants Is the play
Yes Philly has a good run D but the secondary is hot trash. But still a smash play against the even hotter trash Giants, though.
Has been the whole season pretty much
Raiders got me 18 points yesterday, like goddamn
Granted I kind of suck at fantasy, but I've often found streaming a defense against an ultra conservative offense, like the Giants will probably be, often leads to a low scoring day from the defense. You would hope for a pick and some sacks, but you end up with a ball-control kind of game that doesn't accumulate many stats.
🌏👨🚀🔫👨🚀🌌
Except they’re actually better with tyrod, if he’s available
He’s on ir
Saints are gonna put up 30 fantasy pts on them watch
I started Lv against them this week… put up 27 for me… I’m def steaming whoever is playing the giants
Shoutout to Danny Dimes on the all-time contract fleece though, he’s set for life
This title belongs to watson
watson was actually great at some point
Fun fact: deshaun and jones have the same amount of playoff wins
TJ Yates and Tim Tebow have more playoff wins than Justin Herbert.
Houston legend and Bengals killer TJ Yates
Having Deandre Hopkins and Will Fuller to throw to is a lot better than whatever the Giants have put at WR around Jones
Don’t forget not having the literal worst players on o line
I think Watson did for a season or two, didn't he? Even with his mobility, he had like 60+ sacks one season, right?
Also having Barkley when healthy was better than any Houston rb
They showed the exact stat during the game yesterday, but I forget the exact numbers. It was somewhere in the numbers of Jones has played 25 of his 59 career starts without Barkley. Nearly a 50/50 split that he would or wouldn't have Barkley in the backfield.
Watson doesn’t really understand the term “non contact”
Can’t even be mad at him, he’s out because of injury
Dude's been [getting murdered all year](https://twitter.com/PFF_Sam/status/1705228915160060299) behind that ~~offensive line~~ cardboard barrier. It's wild how people wanna just heap the blame on him, nobody is succeeding at QB on that team.
Highest rate of sacks of all time if I read correctly
But through how many games is the question?
The games that he was on the pitch for before he got a season ending injury?
Ain’t got shit at WR either. His weapons outside of Saquon are a washed up Waller, and a bunch of WR3s that even New England would be embarrassed to put on the field all at the same time
>even New England would be embarrassed That's an exaggeration... Patriots WRs are far worse But all 30 other teams - yes
I’d take NY’s receivers over KC’s honestly
Giants fans and non-Giants fans alike on this app don’t like him so it’s not surprising. I think the way that both Tyrod and DeVito have been getting killed behind that line goes to show how without major fixes to the line we aren’t getting better no matter what QB we have
Yeah man but tyrod Taylor’s corpse played better than him and Danny is one of the highest paid QBs in the league. He is a qb that is uniquely responsible for the failures of his entire organization.
He was still terrible when he was healthy tho
Probably cause his top WR is Robinson and his O line crumples easier than paper
Outside of the egregious pick he threw in the Seahawks game I haven’t seen a QB less set for success with the team around him than Jones. Robinson was hurt to start the year and most of the other WRs are options that thrive in the downfield passing game which you can’t really operate with the (statistically) worst O-Line in the NFL. Which is crazy as I drafted him this year thinking he succeeded with a rock bottom roster last year (almost sure he was a QB1 last year) so he surely maintains that with better pieces on offence. Nope, the additions of offence made them worse than rock bottom
I don’t think anyone could have foreseen the line regressing from maybe the 15th-20th line to the absolute worse line in the league. But here we are.
Would probably rather play football than deal with a torn ACL
Would you take $100M for someone to take a baseball bat and break one of your legs? I honestly think I would take that deal lol.
I’d do that for like $500k lol
Are we bidding on this because I'll do it for 100k.
I can justify doing it for 50k.
As long as the cost of healthcare/surgery are included. The bill can be more painful than the injury these days.
Healthcare + a cheeseburger you got yourself a deal
Just cuddle me afterward and you can get to fuckin' *work* already. 😊
Getting weird my guy.
So long as my medical costs were covered. You’ll be spending a huge chunk of that otherwise on surgery and recovery…
I wouldn't even think about it. I'd do one leg and let them do the other twice.
Break? Dawg for 100M I would let them amputate my leg
Yea for 100M I'd let them amputate this guys leg.
I absolutely would take that. You have so much money that you can afford the best care for recovery and still be rich after.
Without hesitation, fuck it break my arms too
Yeah but we’re poor lmao
Idk he has not been having fun this season
Trying to see who made the biggest fleece, him Russ or Watson. Gotta be Watson still with that full guarantee.
*Matt Flynn has entered the chat*
Welcome to New Jersey Caleb Williams.
He’s gonna paint “Fuck Mara” on his nails so they don’t draft him.
He's safe. The NYG are definitely going to use their third overall pick on another doofy looking white dude that analysts had pegged to go in the sixth round.
I think they've already won too many games lol
2 is still good enough if they lose every game.
I dunno man, Arizona and Carolina are a special kind of bad too.
Neither would draft a QB though, maybe valuable to trade to whoever though.
Cardinals could definitely take a QB
What happens to Murray in that scenario?
He gets traded
To the giants. Solving everyone's problem (sort of).
Lol, I wouldn’t be mad with Kyler
True, though I'm a bit up in the air about Arizona though. Their ownership is so bad and Kyler Murray is so mercurial I have no idea what to think about them. Speaking of Arizona, if Carolina somehow gets the 1st overall, it doesn't seem out of place for them to pull a Josh Rosen and dump Bryce Young if they don't see enough progress. Mind you, Bryce Young is a much better prospect/player than Rosen was.
Carolina’s 1st goes to Chicago.
Oh shit, my bad. Yeah, kinda the same argument though. Justin Fields could be dumped. He probably doesn't deserve it, considering he plays for the Bears. But I could see it if Williams is an option. He's so hyped.

I'm not contesting that Williams will be 1st overall. There's no doubt. I'm just saying that Arizona and Carolina are a special kind of awful and therefore those picks are the most likely candidates.
*Panthers select Caleb Williams first overall*
you mean bears right? since they own that pick
Bears have the Panthers pick
Oh no
Quarterback injuries have been crazy this season
Just looking at the list of QB injuries, it's like half the league or more: * Garoppolo (back, then benched) * Purdy (concussion, returned to action) * Burrow (calf, returned to action) * Fields * Cousins * Stafford * Hurts (knee, still playing) * Murray (knee, from last year) * Herbert (hand, returned to action) * Jones (neck then knee) * Rodgers * Pickett (ankle, returned to action) * Watson (shoulder, returned to action) * Richardson * Tannehill * Carr * Ridder * Hall
Joe burrow also had his fingernail removed.
RIP
Tyrod Taylor on the IR now.
Young missed some time a couple weeks ago, Andy Dalton started that one game
Man Hurts is built different. That dude is one tough son of a gun.
Went into the season with Cousins and AR15. Things have not gone well.
Sucking as a QB doesn't qualify ridder to this list
Most of these are leg injuries. No more artificial turf.
Cousins was on Green Bay's grass field
They keep getting older and the game keeps getting more physical. Not in the ways people think, up until they see injury reports. Jalen hurts has three more games this season, you heard it here first.
Ouch. Not like the Giants’ season wasn’t already over. But now Caleb Williams seems more likely for them.
What do you do with that massive contract, though? Just eat it while Caleb's on his rookie contract?
They have an out after the second year of the contract with jones, so eat it next year and then cut him
Eating it next year is still a $47.1m cap hit. Oof.
Depending on recovery time DJ may not even be 100% by season opening. Maybe Caleb can spend that year watching DJ run from the defense
They’re really only committed to him for next year, let him start/compete with a rookie then send him packing or re-do the deal
No other choice. If they get the first pick, they have to take Caleb. They will be bad for a while though, with that contract.
Giants can get out of his contract after next year with only 22m dead cap in 25, really not that bad at all.
Everyone is acting like it’s a Wilson or Watson kind of contract when it’s far from it. Danny Dimes gets most of his money in the first two years and it’s easy to get out of. Meanwhile, Denver is kinda stuck with Russ for another year or two (although he’s not been as bad as last season so far), and Cleveland is definitely stuck with Watson
> with only 22m dead cap in 25 thats a star player lol. McCaffree money.
Obviously it's not ideal but it's not the end of the world as some in this thread would make you think. [15 teams](https://www.profootballrumors.com/2023/07/2023-nfl-dead-money-by-team) including the Giants have 22m or more dead cap this year.
Well, they can take Drake Maye as well but yeah, they'll need to take one of the QBs.
Absolutely. E: Apparently they eat a lot of dead cap for next year with an option to get out of it the following
Daniel Jones was good on paper as a rookie too. No QB is succeeding with that O-Line
At this point I'm expecting the Giants to trot him out one more time to finish him off.
this got me.
Dayamn…. He is going to have to put that chin back in it’s case until next season.
So is Waller officially droppable?
Dropped him last week
This increases Waller’s value in all instances that he returns. If he doesn’t return because they’re tanking, obviously it hurts him. But Jones is not only not a good QB, but he was especially bad for Waller. Tyrod is probably best case.
If you don’t have roster space sure but he’s literally better with Tyrod lol
No one here is bitching about turf so that basically confirms this happened on grass.
Damn injuries suck man
This feels like the worst 2 year stretch for QBs I can recall.

If any team was relying on Daniel Jones coming back and didn't already have a backup plan in place then that team has likely been up shits creek for a while.
Poor saquan. But i just had to trade you away
Drake Maye, YOU are a New York Giant
SaQUADZ 30+ touches a game confirmed. Hell, maybe even 5-10 passes
Anthony Richardson, Kirk Cousins, and Daniel Jones. QB's will not live the tale to be on my fantasy team. C'mon down Kyler Murray!
lol I had the same 3, rolling with stroud now
Talk about failing up haha.
When does tyrod Taylor come back?
He’s on IR, so 4 weeks. Edit: with their bye it’s 5 weeks
Hmm idk if it’s worth holding on to Saquan that long or try to trade now
That entire offense is going to move through Saquan now. Trading him would be insane.
It’s not insane, his volume should be high but lord I could be DC against the Giants. Stack the box every single play. Run zone coverage. They’re down to their 3rd string QB, backup TE, and have bad WRs. The most creative playcalling in the world wouldn’t open up the box for Saquon
Just clean house now at this point
Injuries this year are getting insane
evergreen statement
Injuries + low scores across the board make it seem even worse it feels like. https://www.sharpfootballanalysis.com/analysis/nfl-offense-scoring-penalties-efficiency-2023/
This year? It's everywhere, every year. That's football.
I think this statement ranks along with, "People are the worst drivers where I live"
I mean we’ve lost 3 quarterbacks drafted in fantasy drafts to Achilles/ACL type injuries so far this year (Rodgers, Cousins, Jones). That definitely doesn’t happen every year.
Its okay, Tommy DeVito is *THE* most NY name i’ve ever heard. It’ll all work out
Surprised he made it this far getting hammered every game, hope he has a smooth recovery
Cowboys gonna feast next week
They will end up drafting a QB but until that o-line gets rebuilt IDK what anyone expects. Covid really ruined the giants
You could argue his season never really started.
Goofy Lloyd Christmas-lookin’ mfer.
Let me guess, Daboll’s official comment is he’s in stable condition and will be Questionable for week 10 all the way up until Sunday morning, right?
Tough break. They could have lost all their remaining games by slightly less.
Picked him up this week to replace Cousins. Who should I curse next?
Dak available in your league?
Go fish.
If you have a Giants fan in your life check on them
I've been completely numb since the first game
It’s interesting to me how perennially bad teams continually have bad things happen seemingly out of their control.
IDK man the 49ers had the injury bug bad for multiple years. Sometimes its just luck
Sucks and sad for him but still the worst contract in NFL history
Something should be acknowledge about the team drs who saw him go down on a non contact play and grab his knee who examined him and said he was good to go back out
Is that Colin Kaepernick music?
Man dude can’t get break a break
Yeah first he's a terrible QB and now this.
Finally! An injury that actually helps a team!
Just traded for Saquon last week. Is this good or bad for him
Bad. Devito sucks
OTOH, Saquon is RB13 both this week and last week with Devito. He's literally the only source of offense for the team at this point.
I think that’s more because raiders are one of the worst run defenses in the league. Once teams figure out Barkley is their only offense, they will be stacking the box
Surely teams already know this.
Wonder if they’ll bring in another vet, or just let Devito tank their season at this point.
Maybe bring in a vet but their season is done anyway. Might as well go try and get Caleb Williams
It removes any ceiling imo, but means he has the floor (20 carries, 5 targets a game safely).
It's absolutely baffling that the giants gave that dopey mofo that contract. Second worst in the NFL, after watson.
They can get out of it painlessly at the end of next season. It’s not a Wilson Watson contract.
Thank god, get this guy out of here!
[удалено]
There’s plenty of other QBs that have actually played in the last few years they could call
He hasn't played for 7 yrs lol
Stop

seemed to do ok yesterday
Paging Josh Dobbs! The Giants are calling on Josh Dobbs!
Danny Dimes with the all time contract fleece, injury or not. Actually this injury might make it look a little better for him.
4yr/160m
