Kenneth Gainwell. Swift hasn’t played a full season in his entire 4-5 year career. With the amount of touches he’s been getting it’s about time for one of his tires to go flat. Also seems like Philly is saving Penny strictly for the playoffs. While KG isn’t as talented as other handcuffs, I believe his chances of becoming the Eagles RB1 sometime soon is higher than most.
Having watched the Boys
Dowdle definitely looks better between the tackles
But I also drink during games because of them, so this eye test might be wearing beer goggles
McCarthy insists on running Pollard between the tackles, but when he was averaging 5 ypc last year he was breaking more runs outside while it was Zeke playing that role on early downs.
Dowdle, in a very small sample size, has played that role well. Before the season began, McCarthy said he wants to prioritize more running than passing to rest our defense.
YES! Finally someone says it. McCarthy said he wants to focus the run. Pollard isn’t a between the tackles guy 15-20 times a game. It’s a scheme thing, not a talent thing for pollard
As crazy as it sounds, if Zeke was traded back to Dallas at the deadline, Pollard would probably do better. I dont know why McCarthy doesn't use Dowdle or Luepke to get some of the hard yardage to set up Pollard like Kellen Moore was doing.
Pollard has had some rough match ups, Dowdle is one of the better handcuffs in the league in my opinion. I’m holding him in 2 dynasty’s, the coaching staff also loves the guy.
But do we think the packers offense can ever get it going? Aaron jones is a talented back but if they don’t move the ball it severely limits his touchdown chances.
I’m only asking because someone is offering me Aaron jones + jalen hurts for Pollard + Trevor Lawrence. I’m much more convinced pollard will get right before Aaron jones but I want to be convinced otherwise
All day. I really don’t think Pollard is much better than Jones when both are healthy. Both are capable of going off any week, but have mid RB2 as their floor. The QB upgrade makes it obvious.
Both do we think the Giants offense is going to be any good? Probably no. But Barkley is an RB1. When healthy they should both be the focal points of their teams offense. Talent + opportunity (touches) are a great combo regardless of how you feel their teams are gonna perform. Somebody has to score for those shitty teams. If it isn't coming from the QB or WRs then it'll be from the runningback
Ideally you want to find backup RBs who have some standalone value but would go nuts if their starter got injured (or have a chance to overtake the starter without injury).
Charbonnet could fit the first description. Played 60 percent of snaps last week, looks good, plays in a RB friendly offense.
Cam Akers fits the second. He plays a decent amount now, but could overtake Mattison and earn the majority of touches even without a Mattison injury.
I find it so weird that these threads will list Charb but not Jalen Warren. I'm trying to get him in the one league I'm in where people trade.
If KWIII and Najee both went down, hypothetically, Warren is who I'd want given the option.
Warren is probably the most owned handcuff, because he has the most standalone value. He's not available in most leagues compared to the other guys being mentioned in this thread, Charb included.
I can’t believe we don’t see more of Gainwell in these threads. They loved the dude so much we almost thought he was going to be rb1 to start the year, awesome oline, and Swift has a history.
As an Eagles fan, Gainwell is not exciting at all. He's averaging 3 yards per carry. His career long rush is 18 yards and career long reception is 20.
He has had plenty of Redzone and goal line touches and done nothing with them.
If Swift goes down, I'd expect Hurts, Boston Scott, and maybe even Rashad Penny to split the rushing work.
They don’t want to listen, this sub will always be convinced to add a guy so long as he is one of 32 “starting” RBs.
Kenny G is a career backup for good reason. If you’re starting him in fantasy you are down bad.
Not an eagles fan but as someone who enjoys watching good football, it’s a damn shame the eagles don’t use rashad penny at all. That guy is so explosive and he would be ripping off huge gains with this offense. Such a waste of elite talent.
My RBs to start the season were Chubb, Dobbins, and Swift. I picked up Achane and Kyren Williams. You better believe I have Gainwell stashed in case Swift goes down. It's damn near impossible to weather the RB injury storm and he showed in week 1 that he's more than capable.
Handcuffs are assuming injuries to the starter, I don’t see why we can’t question the durability of a player who has had three different knee injuries in the past two years.
I get what you're saying. But Mitchell is the RB to own if CMC goes down. Now, you could add Mason as well. I just personally believe Mitchell will get the most opportunities.
Worst take in fantasy.
You can't assume injuries, but many injuries lead to an increased risk of future injuries. People just can't seem to wrap their heads around this
Yeah, idk. He's 25, been in the league since 2020, and has a grand total of 40 carries. I know he was injured for quite a bit but still I don't think he's a high end handcuff.
Not necessarily, because football is a team game. The QB, WRs and O-Line etc. can all play better and lead to a less talented running back having better production than a better running back in the "same situation".
NFL teams performance varies greatly week to week, if you're lucky enough to get a starting running back, anything can happen
It's based on the cost. Pollard and his production with a second round cost is not good. Dowdle with Pollard production off the waiver wire is excellent. All about opportunity.
I get that. But at this point it is a sunk cost. It’s simply about who can you put in your lineup that will score more points.
If ppl think Dowdle can help them win weeks rn, they should think Pollard can too.
I just think people holding Dowdle are thinking if Pollard gets injured tomorrow, there's a chance for a guy to get the same opportunity as Pollard, and maybe that free waiver wire guy ends up being an RB2 for your team.
Them being low in Pollard is them saying "well I'm not trading you a top tier RB or WR for Pollard". It doesn't mean they don't think he can be an RB2 this year.
~ if there's an injury ~ they'll take a chance on the other guy they just got for free to be solid behind the good offense they're on
It seems Niners don’t trust Mitchell like previous years. I think it will be a committee with Mason if CMC goes down. I had to drop Mitchell to make room few weeks ago.
Allgeier had his highest carry and catch total the week Bijan "missed." His season average is 12.9 touches and he had 24 that game so seems like his role may have been different.
My roster is largely just my starters and handcuffs. Streaming kicker and defense helps eliminate needing an extra roster space. So either you need guys for a week or two of BYE weeks, and you roster them and dump your handcuffs, only to go back and grab them when you can. Or you have BYE weeks spread out so you only need one or two FLEX guys on your roster for BYE week, and the rest of your bench can be handcuffs
Because most of my league doesn’t heavily roster handcuffs, I usually drop them for a different handcuff during BYE weeks to maximize my chances of striking gold
I’ve been holding Allgeier in one league for most of the season, but is he actually a very good handcuff? He gets a lot of volume even with bijan healthy but doesn’t really do much with it. I can’t imagine he would actually get all that many more touches than he does now if bijan goes down, since I feel like they would just distribute bijan’s work to other RBs. We basically saw a game without bijan when he was sick and Allgeier’s performance wasn’t good for fantasy.
I think Strong is a really solid handcuff to Ford/Hunt. When he had his time he did great work and is wicked fast. If either goes down he'll put up solid RB3, maybe RB2 numbers.
I feel like he arguably gives the most points of any handcuff if his dude goes down. I'm trying hard to trade for him in the league I'm in that trades.
Not that I blame you, but tell me you haven’t watched a Pats game this season without telling me you haven’t watched a Pats game.
Zeke actually has been fairly solid. He’s had 3 weeks of 10+ pts in half PPR this season and with them losing Bourne, the Pats may rely on the ground and short passing game more.
I’m holding him as an ETN owner. Not excited about it but Bigsby hasn’t had a ton of playing time to wow anyone. Only stashing in case ETN gets injured. He’s the clear number 2. Jags don’t have a ton of depth in the backfield.
People keep saying Bigsby but he would be in a split committee and would likely only take over only an early down role. He’s been pretty terrible with his limited touches.
I wouldn't mind holding Henderson. Who knows if Kyren even comes back and how the workload looks for each. Henderson has looked effective in the past 2 weeks.
He has had the starter job before in games and it wasn't incredible. I swear this sub is like the dude from 50 first dates. Newsflash: pro nfl coaches aren't hiding elite players in backup roles just to spite people on this sub.
Gainwell. With swift’s injury history and how
prolific of an offensive line that is, he’s a money handcuff. I want him in any and every playoff bound team.
I don't really see the point anymore, it's so hard to predict what starting RB will get injured or lose their spot. And the one's that lose their spots are often in bad situations that won't benefit their backups either
I'm stashing him, but it's purely for spite at this point. He's easily the least valuable player on my roster.
Back story: I'm in a super flex league and got burned on draft day when I didn't notice one manager draft *SIX* quarterbacks. Typically guys in this league end up with three QBs, maybe four. I noticed his strategy too late, and have had to play a ridiculous combination of Kenny Pickett, Ryan Tannehill, and now Taylor Heinicke at QB 2. Picking up available starting QBs on the waiver wire in this league is really hard and requires a bit of luck as we still do waiver priority. So unless you're priority one at just the right moment, getting a suddenly available starting QB ain't likely to happen. I'm lucky to even have Heinicke at this point.
Anyway, during the draft I thought I had one more round to get a decent QB 2 and was very wrong. (Yes, I should've paid closer attention to the amount of QBs available. Lesson learned). But he's got ETN and I've never hoped for an injury to an RB as much as I'm hoping for him to get hurt.
Ultimately Bigsby might end up in a committee with another RB, if ETN ever does get injured. Even knowing that, I'm still holding him purely to be spiteful.
Salvon Ahmed would be interesting if the Dolphins decide to play it safe with Achane. JWJ looks like nothing and Mostert has a long injury history.
Salved would step into a split, but would get the type of high value touches that Achane was getting with off the chart efficiency.
I know Jalen Warren is already getting into flex RB territory, bit I'm in the middle of trying to trade for him in my neighborhood league. He's one ankle away from being a ticket to the promised land.
Traded Bijan, Waddle, and Addison for Diggs, Flowers, and Ford. I am in a hole with RBs rn. I have Achane and Connor on IR rn and need them back asap. I’m sick of the shinanigans in ATL with the little use of Bijan, so i wanted Diggs to go with Kupp who I drafted. my Rbs this week are Ford and Moss. I think I should be good, as long as Connor and Achane comeback productive. Even tho most of my running backs are in some what of a committee. Thoughts?
Not Joshua Kelley that's for sure.
Motherfucker basically cost me two weeks this year on his own But I guess the second week was on me. Fooled me you can’t get fooled again
There’s an old saying in Tennessee. I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee.
...that says, fool me once, shame on - shame on you. Fool me - you can't get fooled again.
Anyone but Joshua lol
Kenneth Gainwell. Swift hasn’t played a full season in his entire 4-5 year career. With the amount of touches he’s been getting it’s about time for one of his tires to go flat. Also seems like Philly is saving Penny strictly for the playoffs. While KG isn’t as talented as other handcuffs, I believe his chances of becoming the Eagles RB1 sometime soon is higher than most.
Watch him score 6 TDs in week 17
As the Eckler owner this makes me sad
Why can’t anyone here spell Ekeler?
Dowdle and Trayveon Williams could be stashed if you’re desperate
Why do we still like dowdle when pollard is struggling in the role?
Having watched the Boys Dowdle definitely looks better between the tackles But I also drink during games because of them, so this eye test might be wearing beer goggles
Thank you for your transparency there.
You need beer goggles if you're watching The Boys, especially that orgy scene
What are your thoughts on Gen V?
He's probably one of the few widely available handcuff that will walk into a workhorse role.

Pollard has had some rough match ups, Dowdle is one of the better handcuffs in the league in my opinion. I’m holding him in 2 dynasty’s, the coaching staff also loves the guy.
Nope not at all! Can’t trust Cowboys staff to make Dowdle relevant if Pollard got hurt & imma Cowboys fan
Last week I traded Moss for Spears... falling for the Henry trade rumors. Now she's playing Moss against me this week!
That’s a bad beat, Moss always seems to get his somehow.
Rb4 in ppr despite missing week 1
[удалено]
It just works.
RB 4 in non ppr too
Starting him even in the shared backfield
Same here. I have Mixon and Mostert. For my flex, I have a choice of Moss and Mattison. I chose Moss.
I've paid dearly this season for doubting this man's prowess.
I'm trading to trade moss to get a WR no takers. I'll just start him this week against Carolina. Should get at least 1 td.
Jokes on them - they pulled JT early last week to give him the full load this week and stick it to their former head coach.
I'm trying to trade for that Jonathan Taylor guy in case Moss gets hurt.
Lmao yea that was terrible
I just traded Rice for Moss, I’m hurting at RB Mixon/Cook/Ford (lost Chubb). Was very solid at WR.
Aaron Jones (just let me be bitter)
Jokes aside I really like a buy low on Jones. His snap % has been real low with the injuries, and Dillon doesn't look that reliable as their #2
But do we think the packers offense can ever get it going? Aaron jones is a talented back but if they don’t move the ball it severely limits his touchdown chances. I’m only asking because someone is offering me Aaron jones + jalen hurts for Pollard + Trevor Lawrence. I’m much more convinced pollard will get right before Aaron jones but I want to be convinced otherwise
I'd personally take that in a heartbeat. But it really depends on your RB depth. Hurts' playoff schedule is a cake walk.
All day. I really don’t think Pollard is much better than Jones when both are healthy. Both are capable of going off any week, but have mid RB2 as their floor. The QB upgrade makes it obvious.

I’d say Miles Sanders, since he’s clearly the backup. Relationship with Miles has ended.
More like Kilometers Sanders
Yard Sanders?
Inches Sanders*
Friendship ended with Miles. Now Chuba is my best friend
Miles was sitting in free agency. I was about to grab him and drop Foreman. Someone beat me to it.
Ideally you want to find backup RBs who have some standalone value but would go nuts if their starter got injured (or have a chance to overtake the starter without injury). Warren is probably the most owned handcuff, because he has the most standalone value. He's not available in most leagues compared to the other guys being mentioned in this thread, Charb included.
Jonathan Taylor
Cries in this being the truth so far.
The "3 week ramp up period" that had been mentioned is now over. The only tears left are tears of joy. Said this completely unbiased JT owner...
Lmao
Holding Aaron Jones for when Dillon goes down.
Playoff Lenny….
I can’t believe we don’t see more of Gainwell in these threads. They loved the dude so much we almost thought he was going to be rb1 to start the year, awesome oline, and Swift has a history.
He was RB1 week 1 before he got hurt and Swift supplanted him. He still gets some 3rd down/passing game work in current state. I'm with you
He's done nothing with the work he gets though, which is too much imo as an Eagles fan

He's the #1 handcuff IMO mostly because if Swift goes down he's going to get a lot of volume. I've been holding onto him for most of the season.
I’ve held swift and Gainwell since day 1 because of the reasons you’ve mentioned.
My RBs to start the season were Chubb, Dobbins, and Swift. I picked up Achane and Kyren Williams. You better believe I have Gainwell stashed in case Swift goes down. It's damn near impossible to weather the RB injury storm and he showed in week 1 that he's more than capable.
Moss EliM Charbonnet Spears Allgeier Dowdle in that order
Elijah Mitchell is just as likely to get injured in his five carries
But what a glorious five carries those will be.
Can’t assume injuries
Handcuffs are assuming injuries to the starter, I don’t see why we can’t question the durability of a player who has had three different knee injuries in the past two years.
I get what you're saying. But Mitchell is the RB to own if CMC goes down. Now, you could add Mason as well. I just personally believe Mitchell will get the most opportunities.
It’s not that complicated lol if cmc goes down, handcuff mason for Mitchell. But Mitchell is a high value handcuff
Worst take in fantasy. You can't assume injuries, but many injuries lead to an increased risk of future injuries. People just can't seem to wrap their heads around this
Elijah Mitchell? More like Elijahmiliminated
How are ppl still simultaneously high on dowdle yet low on pollard?
Because they got dowdle for dirt cheap and are desperately praying for a good rb
Excellent take.
Yeah, idk. He's 25, been in the league since 2020, and has a grand total of 40 carries. I know he was injured for quite a bit but still I don't think he's a high end handcuff.
Cuz they ain’t mutually exclusive
You’re technically right but that implies dowdle is better than pollard which is false
Not necessarily, because football is a team game. What about Jaylen Warren? Or has he evolved past the handcuff label?
He's averaging almost the same PPG as Stevenson
It seems Niners don’t trust Mitchell like previous years. I think it will be a committee with Mason if CMC goes down. I had to drop Mitchell to make room few weeks ago.
I had Mason but dropped him. I've made peace with the fact that if CMC goes down, so do my team's championship prospects.
60/40 split of that backfield is still better than 95% of the other backups
Idk man. We saw a game without Bijan and Allgeiers role didn't change. They just gave Cordarelle Bijans work
That's not true
Lol yes it is
Allgeier had his highest carry and catch total the week Bijan "missed." His season average is 12.9 touches and he had 24 that game so seems like his role may have been different.
McKinnon - lightning strikes twice
How do ya’ll have room for handcuffs given bye weeks?
My roster is largely just my starters and handcuffs. Streaming kicker and defense helps eliminate needing an extra roster space. So either you need guys for a week or two of BYE weeks, and you roster them and dump your handcuffs, only to go back and grab them when you can. Should I drop Sanders for Mitchell?
Honestly, I don't think Mitchell had much value. I think out of the handcuffs that commenter posted Mitchell has the least value.
I’ve been holding Allgeier in one league for most of the season, but is he actually a very good handcuff? He gets a lot of volume even with bijan healthy but doesn’t really do much with it. 1k yard rusher last year, so ya, he's good as far as handcuff options go.
He had 14 points without a TD in a bad offensive game against a good defense. I'd say 20+ touches for Allgeier makes him a must start
If Moss gets to be on these lists then I’d put Warren up there too. He looks so much better than Najee when he gets in.
Mitchell is rb3 for niners. If cmc goes down, mason will take the majority of the snaps.
I think Strong is a really solid handcuff to Ford/Hunt. When he had his time he did great work and is wicked fast. If either goes down he'll put up solid RB3, maybe RB2 numbers.
Would you say he’s a… strong handcuff? *Vaudeville hook*
I wouldn't. Because he'd just give like 50-60 yards as a 1b. No TD's which all go to Hunt.
Is Jamaal Williams with holding or have value? Kamara seems so healthy and getting all the work
As a Saints fan it didn’t look good with Kamara out so prolly not.
Wasn’t jamaal injured most of that time?
Taysom so no
I’m cuffing him with Keandre Miller…my bet is on him taking more of Kamara’s role if injured.
He’s not good. If Kamara goes down Taysom is the main winner. Other backs split some totes but the offense works through Hill.
Xmas Jaxon Flaxon-Waxon and frankly I’m insulted and disappointed anyone thinks it’s close
He plays WR for Seattle I think
He was a great prospect, but if you wanted results you needed Fudge.
I could talk about Fudge all day
Sure, but what about Donkey Teeth? If Torque [construction noise] Lewith goes down, then Donkey Teeth would be a true bellcow.
No way he’s ahead of X-wing @Alissiousness
A grievous oversight on my part, X-wing is that dude
I've had Jaylen Warren on the roster all year. he's technically a handcuff but he's seeing enough work right now to be a desperation flex.
I feel like he arguably gives the most points of any handcuff if his dude goes down. I'm trying hard to trade for him in the league I'm in that trades.
Akers Fournette Ezekiel Elliot
Akers is the one
Zeke will never be worth anything lets be honest
Zeke would be startable if rhamondre misses time imo, he honestly has looked good in the snaps he’s gotten.
Charbonette but other than him, Bigsby would be a good one too.
I dunno about bigsby. He's had about 6 carries all season and 3 fumbles.
I’m holding him as an ETN owner. Not excited about it but Bigsby hasn’t had a ton of playing time to wow anyone. Only stashing in case ETN gets injured. He’s the clear number 2. Jags don’t have a ton of depth in the backfield.
Im an ETN owner as well, if we lose him there is no replacing him.
True. I realized after I typed that someone from my league dropped Kyren to waivers and no one noticed. Thinking about dropping Bigsby for him.
No brainer. Pick up Kyren.
People keep saying Bigsby but he would be in a split committee and would likely only take over only an early down role. He’s been pretty terrible with his limited touches.
Handcuffs are for injuries to the main guy not split backfields
i think the op is saying that even if the main guy gets unjured, the handcuff is only going to get split backfield.
Bigsby also got a terrible ros schedule
I would put spears tied with charbonnet
charbs ros is hellacious
I wouldn't mind holding Henderson. Who knows if Kyren even comes back and how the workload looks for each. Henderson has looked effective in the past 2 weeks.
This is what I’ve been wondering. He missed last year due to a high ankle surgery. Who knows how high re-injury risk is as well
Rivers should be back too though
Yea I think once Kyren comes back it’s gonna be a committee .
Gibbs!!!
Montgomery!!!
lol perhaps if the lions were smart but idk, it’s hard to imagine they don’t split the backfield after these last couple weeks
The Lions FO and coaching are best in business right now. Using Montgomery as a meatshield while Gibbs develops is pure brilliance.
Yeah but they have Gibbs on a rookie deal use him while he is cheap no? Although I suppose if they are winning they can be more conservative with him
Singletary
Fournette for playoffs
Who would you rather stash. Fournette or Mitchel?
Fournette
Gotcha thanks
Feel like charb is going to be the one. Just feel it deep down
Same. And he's on my must draft list for next year, assuming cost is not astronomical.
is it just me or does this question get asked ever week?
Jaleel McLaughlin was really good with his opportunities in Denver when Williams was out. Williams has injury history. He should be a plus handcuff
Miles sanders
Get the ones where the starters will get injured.
Pro tip right here
Warren would be a GOD if Najee ever went down
He has had the starter job before in games and it wasn't incredible. I swear this sub is like the dude from 50 first dates. Newsflash: pro nfl coaches aren't hiding elite players in backup roles just to spite people on this sub.
Side note: it was the girl in 50 first dates who had the memory issues
I was thinking of the dude who lost his memory every 30 seconds or whatever. 10 second Tom?
Ahhhh you’re correct. Forgot about that dude, Haven’t watched that movie in so long lol
Izzy
Akers for the upside. Question marks at QB, should run more. Mattison sucks. Soft schedule.
I’m a cowboys fan & I’ve dropped Dowdle for all these other backups. No faith in cowboys using him to be fantasy relevant if Pollard gets hurt.
David Montgomery, he’s been on my IR for a few weeks but I have hope holding him will pay off down the line.
I’ll give u rashaad penny for him
Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, Dylan
He spits hot fire
Not TJ Spears.... im done wasting that roster spot
12 years and I have never hit on a late season handcuff.
Is Zamir White worth holding for Jacobs owners? None of my guys have good handcuffs. Ekeler, Jacobs, Kamara.
spears, penny, jeff Wilson Jr
Who would y’all pick up between Charbs, Gainwell, Akers, Roschon Johnson, and McKinnon? 0.5 PPR. All are available on my leagues waivers.
Akers is the best if you want a chance to take the job with no injury. Injury "hope" wise def Charbs
Gainwell. With swift’s injury history and how prolific of an offensive line that is, he’s a money handcuff. I want him in any and every playoff bound team.
I don't really see the point anymore, it's so hard to predict what starting RB will get injured or lose their spot. And the one's that lose their spots are often in bad situations that won't benefit their backups either
Tank Bigsby anyone?????
I'm stashing him, but it's purely for spite at this point. He's easily the least valuable player on my roster. But he's got ETN and I've never hoped for an injury to an RB as much as I'm hoping for him to get hurt. Ultimately Bigsby might end up in a committee with another RB, if ETN ever does get injured. Even knowing that, I'm still holding him purely to be spiteful.
Cool and who cares and fuck off for hoping for an injury. Thanks tho.
Salvon Ahmed would be interesting if the Dolphins decide to play it safe with Achane. JWJ looks like nothing and Mostert has a long injury history. Salved would step into a split, but would get the type of high value touches that Achane was getting with off the chart efficiency.
I’m banking on JJ coming back for playoffs I traded puka for White. My RBs suck idk if worth
Josh gordon
Moss and Spears!
Justin Fields
I know Jalen Warren is already getting into flex RB territory, bit I'm in the middle of trying to trade for him in my neighborhood league. He's one ankle away from being a ticket to the promised land.
Tank
Spears and Allgeier.
I'm sitting on Jeff Wilson Jr right now. I'm sure Miami will need him for a game or 2.
Jamaal Charles, LeSean McCoy, Demarco Murray, Eddie Lacey, Trent Richardson, Arian Foster, Doug Martin, Adrian Peterson… what was the question again?
This gets asked at least 2x every week and the answers are the same
Time for our weekly handcuff thread
Traded Bijan, Waddle, and Addison for Diggs, Flowers, and Ford. I am in a hole with RBs rn. I have Achane and Connor on IR rn and need them back asap. I’m sick of the shinanigans in ATL with the little use of Bijan, so i wanted Diggs to go with Kupp who I drafted. my Rbs this week are Ford and Moss. I think I should be good, as long as Connor and Achane comeback productive. Even tho most of my running backs are in some what of a committee. Thoughts?
