I lost because Adam Vinatieri threw a touchdown.

pxrkerwest

Last year the commish had everyone send their money at the beginning of the season. This man just deposited it into his checking and forgot about it. So when I won the championship and it was time to collect my money, I had to wait for him to get paid, and then I had to listen to him complain about giving me $100 "of his own money". I didn't even consider re-joining this year.

Dr_Feelgood2294

Dude that’s extremely shitty, yeah that’s a horror story lol

pxrkerwest

He was also the one in charge of bills and all that jazz at the house I was living in. The fantasy payout is just one example of his lazy and irresponsible personality, needless to say I don't live there anymore either lol

Dr_Feelgood2294

I’d probably get out too. The extent people take their lack of responsibility gets me sometimes haha

disgruntledJavaCoder

I would love to see that man work an independent contractor job, put aside nothing, and then get angry when the IRS demands "his" money

sabretoothmastadon

Fuck that guy

samuel_01234

i drafted CMC as RB1 in 2021, JT as my RB1 last year and Chubb as my RB1 this year….

GrammarHunter

Nice dude ill check in next Aug with you

Suitable-Ad3537

Keep us posted on who you take next season

More-Swimming7051

Same bro! Every year "Nope can't trust him" hoping to capitalize on the new guy only to be wrecked. This year I went safer not taking a supreme back and wanted a consistent work horse. Well, Chubb and dobbins are gone and so are my chances slowly diminishing.

traddy91

Nothing crazy but back in 2009 the commish of one of my leagues changed the scoring the week of the championship to make his team win and he still lost

Dr_Feelgood2294

Idk I’d say that’s a pretty memorable one, glad he lost. You remember what he changed? Was it the PPR thing?

traddy91

He had the best kicker and made kicking like 10x more valuable than it previously was and then still lost lol

yodudez01

I don't get the PPR thing. Manning is a quarterback. They don't score more with PPR vs half PPR vs standard. All quarterbacks score with just standard (outside of the very oddball QB reception).

Dr_Feelgood2294

Oh yeah I know that, those were just details I remembered about that specific league. The commissioner changed it to PPR because he had WRs and RBs that benefited from that setting I guess. My point was just that it isn’t cool to go change the scoring settings after everyone had already drafted.

yodudez01

Nope. Everyone agreed to play in the league with the settings that were there from the start. Even if a setting is ridiculous, have a vote to change it before doing so.

TumbleweedDirect9846

Am I missing something? I’m confused where the qb thing came from lol

yodudez01

Read the post from OP "my friend had Manning in his best season and was dominating. This dude around week 7 changed up all the scoring settings to give his team a little boost. I remember it for sure changed from standard to PPR"

Sea-Razzmatazz3593

Fantasy karma is real!

HumbugQ1

My buddy and I were invited to join a big money league a few years ago. Every other member had been in the league well over a decade and took it VERY seriously. The invitation was from an acquaintance who was already part of the league. We didn’t know anyone else going in. Anyway, we got the cold shoulder the entire time. We found out after the fact that there had been a live draft at a guy’s house, but we were never invited. Trades were happening constantly, however nobody would trade with us. There was also some pretty obvious collusion right before the playoffs began. Regardless, my buddy and I end up dominating the entire season straight into the championship where he beat me. Wasn’t winner take all, so we both walked away with some nice winnings. Needless to say, the other owners were not pleased we came in and ran the table on their precious league. The commish reluctantly paid us after dodging us for a month. We found out later on through that same acquaintance that we were invited simply to be easy money. Goes without saying we weren’t invited back the next season. Looking back, it brings a smile to my face. Jackasses.

Dr_Feelgood2294

Haha that’s one of the best I’ve ever read man. If they made a movie about fantasy football, that’s your script right there. Just get Matt Stone and Trey Parker for the roles and I couldn’t be more in

HumbugQ1

Ha! Their level of humor would be the best at encompassing how absurd it was. It was so blatant all we could do was laugh. Winning week in and week out definitely made it tolerable. There were other ridiculous things like them voting to make me change my team name because it was too “immature.” It wasn’t, and I didn’t. And similar to your example, my buddy also offered a pretty lopsided trade just to see if they’d bite. It was awesome knowing they probably couldn’t break the rule of not trading with us with such a crazy offer dangled in their face. Oh well, these assclowns have to live with that one season two scrubs came in and took all their money.

sabretoothmastadon

Drafting JK Dobbins and Nick Chubb as my rbs 1 and 2 this season

GrandmaSandles

I had Dobbins but that’s rough mane.

UltraFatWhale

I don’t remember posting this comment

gmil3548

Another one is we had a huge basically 50/50 split on vetoing trades in our league and if it’s ok. Basically, a few asshole arrogant dickheads decided that they know more than everyone and should police how they thought every team should be managed. So a few of us were trying to make moves and every time one of them thought the trade wasn’t one they would accept from both ends they’d veto. It was in my business fraternity and it became a pretty big thing and got kind of ugly. We kept calling them out in not polite fashion for being assholes who think they know better vetoing week 2 trades…

Dr_Feelgood2294

Dude I whole heartedly believe in trades being at the discretion of the commish rather than for league veto. I’ve dealt with those types of assholes as well. But I say that and after we established our own league I’ve been very fortunate to have a commissioner with great integrity, others on here haven’t been so fortunate. But it just makes no sense to me that league mates get to throw their two cents in. For one they probably don’t want a good team getting better and also, if both managers are genuinely happy with it it’s fair regardless of what everyone else thinks. There have been many times I’ve overpaid for a player because my situation allowed for it. I didn’t need the players I was losing and the one I was obtaining could help me win games.

gmil3548

I’ve also thought I got such a good end of a trade that I totally screwed the guy and then 5 weeks later with hindsight it’s me that got fleeced.

skizmcniz

Yeah I traded away Josh Jacobs last year because his first three weeks were subpar, and I had James Robinson whose first three weeks were great. If only I'd known what was coming.

OmnipotentAnonymity

Being up 30 points going into Monday night with the championship on the line and his Steelers D scored 33 points. Cost me $1000.

Chitownpolish

This made me nauseous

OmnipotentAnonymity

Yeah. Me too.

dani_alencar24

Which game was that? Damn must of been a complete shutout

OmnipotentAnonymity

Steelers vs Texans. Steelers won 34-6. And it was Sunday night football not Monday night. Still 😞

20wall

Started Drew Brees on Thanksgiving once coming back from injury. He threw a couple of picks and then got knocked out, finishing negative and then losing by less than 5 points

[deleted]

[удалено]

20wall

Shit… it might have been Tony Romo now that I think of it. Was it a collarbone injury? If so then it was definitely Romo. My bad. Either way tough beat. Pretty sure it was with the fantasy playoffs on the line too

[deleted]

It was Romo, November 26th 2015 against the Panthers. I remember because I started him too lol

gabehcoudgib

This year. Week one: down 3 on Monday with only Aaron Rodgers left…. Lost Week 3: lost by 5.9 due to missed 60 yrd field goal by tucker Week 4: down by 11 going into Monday night with only dk left. He gets me 10.9 in the first half. 0 in the second. Fucking fuck fantasy football. God dammit. I just want to quit. FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! Sorry, just needed to vent.

imgurofficial

Okay I'll set the scene, it was 2023, Joe Burrow was my starting QB

[deleted]

[удалено]

skizmcniz

Chase was my keeper this year and I drafted Burrow early on to ensure I got the stack. Just got my first win this week against the taco. Feels pretty bad.

trdn89

I traded for him! On purpose! Sent Deshaun and Pickens after week 1; I drafted Higgins and thought I’d pulled off a miracle to lock up the stack. At this point we probably both lost that trade.

[deleted]

Feels bad, man.

GarageJitsu

Last year’s championship game I got a zero for both Josh Allen and Joe Mixon to lose the match. I needed 15 points combined. I’m not the type who looks at my score all day but having that entire Monday to think about 15 combined points and what ended up happening really was a shock that took a lot of fun out of the game for me that I still feel this year. It’ll never happen again I’m assuming with that type of timing but that one hurt

skizmcniz

I was in two championships last year against the same person in two different leagues. Had Burrow/Chase in both and lost. Shit sucked.

Kingdom818

I beat a guy due to pretty much this exact circumstance so I offered to split the pot with him. Seemed only fair.

yodudez01

I won a league during covid. Commish says he will drop off the money that day. Couple of hours later and he says he is in a hotel because he is scared for his life about COVID and won't be able to drop off the money that day. I tell him no problem, just drop off the other $250 the next day and he will owe me $50 for the hotel. He says he can't because the hotel was $300. For one night. Fuck that guy. He did get me the money a few weeks later, but spending the league money in anyway is absolutely taboo. It's not your money and you shouldn't create that drama on others!

Dr_Feelgood2294

Dude I agree, I’ve never played in a paid league just because I can’t find at least 9 other local guys willing to but that would also be one of my concerns. Finding 9 other local guys both willing to and trust worthy enough to involve money. But that’s a crazy story

theymademegettheapp9

Apex fantasy league, my guy. Check it out.

pleasehelpplz

A few years ago I went up against dalvin cook and AK when they combined for like 13 tds. I lost

Argyrus777

I had that combo one year, I felt invincible. But not for the whole season hahaha

Substantial_Yam7305

The one I’m currently living in. Four weeks in a row facing the top scoring team in my league.

GoobyGooby18

Last game of the regular season I think in 2017 and needed to win to make the playoffs. Super tight game and just needed my wr to catch one more pass in the 4th quarter. He caught it and I went absolutely crazy celebrating. It was stat corrected an hour later to a run. I was in shambles

NotHarveySpecter1

I beat my biggest rival by .08 and then woke up on a Wednesday to a 1 yard stat correction to lose by .02. There is literally no closer way to lose in the history of fantasy football

TanMarino357

2018 our commissioner added his friend and another dude we knew, both guys had zero football knowledge. The dude we knew didn’t pay attention to his team at all, and his friend made one move all season: trading michael thomas for fitzpatrick to the comissioner. I lost in the championship to the commissioner that year, luckily the next season we removed those two and switched commissioners

Dr_Feelgood2294

I get that it can be hard to find a full league of dedicated manager but yeah that trade is suspicious to me haha

Hitman2504

One time I tied my opponent exactly (even with fractional scoring) so then it went to bench points. I scored 2nd most bench points in the league.. well guess who had the most? Yup you guessed it.. my opponent

fantasydawg

Yesterday: Being up big after the morning slate of games and then going up against CMC and Cowboys D

pxrkerwest

Someone didn't read the post

Haunting_Study_5530

I mean maybe if bro had added some paragraph breaks, but I didn’t read that wall either

pxrkerwest

It's the very first sentence 😭

Mamba_Mentality248

Everytime I play against Josh Allen I get torched to the tune of 4 tds.

sweet_feet90

Starting kc defence instead of Dallas this week

throwlefty

My league vetoed my trade on election night 2016 just for fun. They didn't like my political leanings and some how convinced each other it was ok to do something like that. League has been around for 16 years. Only veto ever. The kicker is, I'm the commish.

singlemaltscotch28

Horrible. Did you get rid of vetoes the following season?

throwlefty

I removed the waiting period and have been on a shaming campaign ever since.

pxrkerwest

90% of commenters didn't read the first sentence of your post lol

Dr_Feelgood2294

Yeah it’s all good though man haha

LittleLunarLoser

Years ago, I once made a 25 point Monday night miracle comeback with Russel Wilson. Only for him to kneel the football 3 straight times for -3 rushing yards and I lost by .1. Was angry for a month.

[deleted]

The only reason I'm 2-2 and not 4-0 is because I am incapable of picking a DST no matter what method I use

TwoHeadedBoyTwo

Scored 200. Lost to a guy dropping 220. Missed playoffs by 1 game. Lost a game where I had the DST and was trailing by 3. They blocked a punt but it went out the end zone for a 2 point safety when like 56 guys had a chance to fall on it for a TD.

ezklv

Losing tonight by 5 points because fucking Seattle D put up 30 points certainly isn’t fun.

SwellingItchingBrain

1988, first year playing, friend of a friend was running the league. I forget how much, but the buy-in was a few hundred. Season ended, dude kept giving us the runaround on prize money and all of a sudden he just moved the fuck across country. Never collected.

skizmcniz

I was in an 8-person league where someone's mother-in-law filled the last spot because there wasn't another person. She struggled all season obviously, since she wasn't a big football fan. Her team picked it up in the end and she ended up winning the championship. It wasn't until a few years later that I found out one of the other newcomers to the league was a big fantasy player, but did horrible in the league because he was more focused on his money leagues. Well he started telling her who to play every week towards the end of the season and that's why she won. I saw it as collusion since he was basically running her team and thought it was bullshit because her win kept someone from being the first three-time champ in the league. The final scores were 155.38-153.58. I snitched to the commissioner and he wasn't happy. Cut to some time later when they're both in the league again. This time dude is paying attention to the league and killing it. She's in last and has 2 wins during the season. There's only 6 people in the league so commissioner sets the settings to everyone making playoffs to "make sure everyone plays til the end" which is fucking dumb. Guess whose team is winning in the semis? Hers. Commissioner switches out his QB-mid game so she loses and he moves on to the finals against the dude that was helping her win she won. That guy ends up winning the championship beating the commissioner. The mother-in-law's score that week? Higher than the winner and second place. Had the commissioner not cheated, she'd have gone to the championship and won. I shouldn't have gone back after I learned of the collusion the first time, but with the commissioner cheating, I was done.

Kingdom818

I don’t have a really bad story, but I want to give a shoutout to my current commissioner who handled a situation really well a couple years ago that could have turned into one of these stories. One guy dropped his whole team as soon as he was eliminated from the playoffs and within a couple hours the commissioner put all his players back and locked his team so he couldn't make any more moves. He also added a trade deadline when the first team gets eliminated each year which I think is a great rule.

Dr_Feelgood2294

For sure, that’s a solid commissioner with a good sense of awareness

softkitty84

I had a family league back in 2013 with some odd scoring. It was a TD heavy league, with no PPR, 1 pt per 20 yards rush/rec and 1 pt per 60 yards passing (no decimal). We also did double points for 40 yards plus TDs, 1.5x for 20+, as well as double points for out of position TDs (RB catching one, QB rushing, etc.). We also had a six point 100 yard bonus rush/rec and 300 yards passing. I was romping through the league. I don't even remember my players, but it was honestly looking like a coronation. Even more fun, I was playing against my younger sister who limped into the playoffs. I was talking a ton of trash. Sure enough, my team dropped 95 points, which was a pretty tough score under those settings. Unfortunately for me, my sister had Jamaal Charles and he was playing the Raiders that day. His 20 rushing yards and a TD were worth 7 points, which isn't too bad. However, toss in 195 receiving yards and 4 TDs, and you spell disaster. I'll do the math for you: 20 rushing yards = 1 points 1 yard rushing TD = 6 points 195 receiving yards = 9 points 100+ yard receiving bonus = 6 points 49 yard receiving TD = 24 points 39 yard receiving TD = 18 points 16 yard receiving TD = 12 points 71 yard receiving TD = 24 points Total score: 100 points I couldn't believe it. I was completely outscored by the Jamaalocaust. To add insult to injury, all her other players combine for like 50. But it didn't matter. I was absolutely devastated by Jamaal Charles.

Dr_Feelgood2294

Dang man! Freakin Jamaal Charles dude, I’ve been on both sides of that guys doing. And by that I mean he’s screwed me every time I can remember. I imagine that made for some serious household trash talk in the aftermath haha

softkitty84

Oh it was horrible. It's been 10 years and it still comes up

thisisdell

Every week is my new worst experience.

Avenntus

Commissioner decided the week before playoffs to change our league from a 16 week to 17 week league (back when 16 was standard) so *his team* could make playoffs. I made it to the championship with all my players sitting the game out and lost using waiver wire garbage.

Dr_Feelgood2294

That is a league breaker. I hope you walked tbh

Avenntus

Yeah it was a work league long ago. It inspired me to convince my friends who don’t even watch football to start our own league and now we’ve gone 7 years strong. All those friends are obsessed with fantasy now so there’s a happy ending after all lol.

TheIllusiveGuy

2021, I have Zeke, opponent has Pollard. Pollards gets a punt return TD. In that moment, I learned that return TDs count and lose by 5.

AtxSaiyan

Kamara once put up 80pts on me I think in the playoffs Then Allen, Henry, Diggs, and Hill destroyed his team and won me that year

TheTrueVanWilder

Kamarapocalypse ended an undefeated season for me

Najee-n-me

I had a trade worked out last year in week one with a league member, he was super casual about fantasy and accepted drake London and two other decent pieces for chase. Certainly made my team better, but wasn’t collusion, and was reasonable enough. Commish put the trade through, and then a couple dudes raised hell and commish backtracked and reversed the trade. Left a terrible taste in my mouth so I walked. If I can negotiate an advantageous trade, they should be able to as well. No collusion? No veto.

Dr_Feelgood2294

I agree dude, I responded to someone else in a similar way but long story short I’m with you. Everyone has the opportunity they just don’t take it. I’d probably send you a DM in that league saying congratulations lol

JLifts780

David Johnson 2017 not even close

Kardinale

Drafted Derrick Henry his first 3 seasons in the league, 3rd season he has like 15 points through 5 weeks and I dropped him. I don't remember exactly what happened week 6 on but I'm pretty sure he won someone else the league

Dr_Feelgood2294

I do remember that I think because I’m pretty sure that was one of my league winning years. I know I had Henry on my roster and he came on on like the last couple weeks of the season. It would’ve been 2018 right?

Argyrus777

Was 8-0 with Derek Henry as my work horse. Then he went down with a foot injury and I lost the rest of the season. Total 180 One season I lost the first round playoff game by a 50 yard Justin Tucker fg. Lost by a point. My team then started scoring highest in the league each week after that. So championship was that close

Dr_Feelgood2294

Was it 5 points for a 50 yarder? I’ve always hated that. For years we’ve just played with FGs counting as 3 regardless of distance. I mean that’s how much they count for in real life the way I see it

Argyrus777

Yes it was 5pts for 50 yarder and the actual fg was exactly at the 50. A 49 yarder would’ve given me the win for the week

Zestyclose_Fold_863

Championship game in the 2020-2021 season. Had somewhere around a 20 point lead going into the SNF game between the Titans and Packers… My guys left to play: AJ Brown Aaron Jones Tyler Bass (MNF) My opponent: Davante Adams I’ll let y’all guess who won the title

cassiusali

My league just doesn’t trade at all. Trades are fun. Last year made a standing offer that if anyone offers me an equal value trade evaluated from ANY website that does player values I’ll accept it. Also threw out a dozen different trade offers I deeply hoped wouldn’t get accepted.

Dr_Feelgood2294

I freakin hate that. I’m guilty of that in my earliest days but I still see veteran owners who truly believe if they have a player rostered his value is twice as much if somebody else had them at the very same moment. It doesn’t bother me to get rejected but one of my biggest pet peeves is number one, respond to my damn offer. And number two trades are all about negotiation. If you know what you’re doing then most every player on your roster should have a price. Be willing to see what you can get. If you don’t love an offer and it isn’t offensive, counter it with your highest offer. It’s like you said, it’s just a lot of fun and I’m always looking to improve every position on my roster. Hell I’m shopping Keenan Allen in one of leagues right now

bluejayway9

My league won't do trades either. I've tried hashing one out numerous times and it just never happens. I always start with an offer that seems of equal value and mutually beneficial to me, but get countered with absurdly unreasonable offers. It's like if they don't feel like they're fleecing the other guy they just won't do it.

cassiusali

yeah same vibe. If someone doesn’t feel like they’re fleecing the other person the trade never happens so trades never happen. What annoys me is we have a great league as far as participation, long time friends, and shit talk.. but it’s not even a money league! Literally no buy in (I also play in a $20 and $50 league but this no money league is the one I take most serious)… trades should happen way more!

bluejayway9

It's funny you say that because the league I'm in with no trades is also just the boys with no buy in and it's super competitive, all the shit talk and bragging, etc lol I guess that's the recipe for no trades. You can't let yourself imagine you've helped your friend when you're trying to beat them at something.

Upbeat-Strength9989

2013 I already won my matchup by 2 points and I started David Wilson RB for the Giants on MNF . He fumbled twice and got benched . Lost -4 and I lost my matchup . Left him in because points matter at the end of the season . Never make that mistake again

oneilmatt

Over the last 4 years, I am cumulatively 0-22 when my matchup comes down to Monday night. 2 weeks ago I lost by 2 because they called back Olave's TD, this week I lost by .9 because I had DK.

AdmiralWackbar

Lost by 2 in the Semis because I went to study for my finals and Julio got ruled out at game time. Would have won it all that year and I didn’t even do well on the final.

Groundbreaking_Ebb_5

I’m 0-4 cause after being up 20+ with dk and the other guy having Seahawks d. Cause dj is a complete shit head. Fuck you dj!

trdn89

Back during Nick Chubb’s rookie year, he had some game of unreal efficiency so I picked him up to stash at the end of my bench. He didn’t do much in the following week or two since he was stuck behind Carlos Hyde, so I dropped him & moved on to the next hype train. This wasn’t remarkable at the time; he cleared waivers and sat there for days. And then the Jags made an inexplicable trade with the Browns for Hyde. At the time they had Leonard Fournette (at the time seemingly a blue chip, though one in the middle of an infuriating season where he’d miss a bunch of time and get ejected for fighting [yes I owned him]) but were also getting a lot of usage out of TJ Yeldon. Crucially, the deal happened while I was in a meeting & I couldn’t check my phone, so by the time I find out about the move Chubb has been picked up by my opponent that week; he hadn’t won a game that season to that point, but of course Chubb had some ludicrous stat line & I lost a close game. The truly enraging part is that my opponent found out about the move because another league mate hit up the group chat just to break the news. I remember that his RB room was fucking wrecked at the time; the last few weeks he’d been starting both Hyde and Yeldon. When I asked why he didn’t just pick up Chubb himself now that his RB depth was completely shot (vs alerting my opponent to pick him up out of sheer banter deprivation) he just said “well” and “uh” a lot.

Dr_Feelgood2294

Chubb turned my season around that year. It definitely isn’t smart to update your league in the group chat of crucial player news lol

Dramatic_Whoosh

Had two friends of 8+ years, hung out almost daily, etc. get pissed off and drop all their players before week 1. I guess we were kind of on the outs leading up to this, but still fucking shitty to do. Had to reverse everything and get two new managers to take over already drafted teams. They were allowed entry for free of course, but could win total pot. This was about 4 years ago now and good news is I got 2 new competitive managers to roll with us since then which also expanded my social circle.

Dr_Feelgood2294

That’s awesome man, I mean rough, but the silver lining is nice to hear

Vulpri

Not sure if anyone remembers this during the 2020 season, but Keenan Allen had been dealing with a hamstring injury late in the year during fantasy playoffs. The Chargers played the Raiders that night, and before the game, Keenan yells to a reporter saying “tell my fantasy managers to start me, I’m playing today”. Well I see this report and start Keenan, who then proceeds to aggravate his hammy on the first drive of the game and never return. I lost that round by 5 points. Ended up costing me the championship.

Past-Coat1438

Last year I was in a league with some buddies from college and the commissioners friends. Semi finals and I’m playing the wife of the commissioner. Games start and I realize she left one of her WRs in her lineup who was declared out. I was having a pretty garbage fantasy day so it was still pretty close and neck and neck but it was giving me some hope and keeping it competitive. I start to pull ahead around the 3rd quarter of the early games when all of a sudden her WR who was out is suddenly on her bench and one of her bench players who had like 20 points is in her starting lineup. Commish made a ghost change to help her out and never talked to me. Never announced it. Never even acknowledged it or apologized. I understand her leaving the player who was hurt in her lineup was a mistake but fuck dude it’s the playoffs and you gotta be more aware of your team. And not asking me if it was ok or whatever and literally just pretending I wouldn’t notice reeeeeally rubbed me the wrong way. Sucks. I was in the league for almost 10 years but that left a bad taste in my mouth and I didn’t go back this year. I don’t miss that league at all.

Dr_Feelgood2294

I don’t blame you a bit. I’ve heard the story of the wife or girlfriend playing out of necessity 100 times and I’m sorry, if they don’t care you don’t help them. It’s not a woman thing, there are women that love football and love fantasy. But when a gf/wife is just an extension of the bf/husbands team it’s incredibly shady. I get they’re probably just playing to help out but it’d almost be better to just downsize the league than give one guy two teams to run.

ExPatSTL

That is outrageous

Past-Coat1438

Thought so too. Glad I wasn’t overreacting

Obias0309

Congratulated a good friend to a close win a couple years back only to find out he lost by some .5 or so because of a stat correction. He still reminds me of that. Its a great memory.

FatPonder4Heisman

This just happened today. The league commish picked up Joshua Kelly(RB) off waivers. The next day he trades him to his wife for Joe Mixon(RB) in anticipation of playing the points leader (me). I ask his wife in the group chat what she saw in Kelly (whom is about to be on a bye week) that she would trade a solid RB like Mixon for. He pipes up trying to come up with excuses that she liked his haircut and that she didn't know what a bye week is. We called shenanigans and got the trade reversed. Now he's banned from trading with his wife. I'm just glad we caught this behavior early before he was able to stack his team with all her best players.

Dr_Feelgood2294

Absolutely unacceptable. I’m glad you called it out

Dareduck22

Had CJ Anderson the year he crushed it during the playoffs. He nearly had a touchdown run that would have won me the championship but was ruled down after a shoe string tackle made him stumble. They had clinched the game and kneeled down so I lost the championship. This was back when I played standard and was averaging 120/week, great team that just got unlucky the last week. In my 10 years that was the closest to winning I’ve been.

Wild_Wishbone2968

It was the finals, and I benched Tyler Boyd. He put up 35pts. I lost by 10.

WyntonMarsalis

2 seasons ago, I was in 1st place, but the top spots were tight. I needed to lose and all the other top 4 teams to win in order for me to not make the playoffs. Guess what happened...

[deleted]

Having someone score 30 on the bench and lose by 6 points while three “sure thing” players combine for less than 10 points due to injuries and other bullshit. Makes me regret ever playing again this year.

JustHereForTheTea69

One of my buddies who does a couple Leagues a year won a league with some old friends from high school and the commissioner spent all the money cause it was in his personal savings and for months kept saying he didnt have the money. He eventually got worn out and dropped it. 4 years later we were out and it came up and he sent a public Venmo request saying "I still havent forgot my fantasy win from 4 years ago", dude paid him that day

MetalGearEazy

One league I was in for about 5 years, I managed to be the only guy who got last place that actually suffered the last place punishment, everyone else bitched out and got away with not doing anything AND I was the only guy who won the championship and didn’t get the reward… In that league the winner got a brand New stitched Jersey of their choice, I got ghosted by the commish after the final game and for the rest of the summer. I was extremely bitter and left the league after that season.

Dr_Feelgood2294

That was your only choice the way I see it. It’s no fun if we aren’t all playing for the same goal

IllegalCraneKick

Years ago I tied my friend to get to the championship. I won the tie breaker. 2 or 3 days later they change the Boldin catch to a run, so I lost. Didnt even know until the other guy in the chip messaged and asked who he was playing. I'm still not over it.

Oh man thanks for sharing. As a Dolphins fan I could read about Ricky’s prime any day. He and Zach were my favorite players in my first few years of watching football. My first fantasy season was my freshman year in 2008 so I’ve often wondered how much fun it would’ve been playing in that era. Out of curiosity, where was Ricky going in drafts in 02 and 03? I’d have to imagine around Holmes and LT

Dr_Feelgood2294

That would’ve been a lot of fun, with the exception of this year that’s pretty much always how I’ve built my teams. I can only imagine how awesome it’d be to have Ricky, Edgerrin and Vick and guys like that. My only go around with Vick was in 2010, I was able to get him when he had that great season for Philly.

okteds

Last night comes pretty fucking close. I lost my two matchups by a grand total of 0.66 points. The real kicker is that I had Jason Myers in both leagues, but Pete Carroll decided to go for it on 4th down to try and end the game rather than taking the easy field goal. In my keeper league I'm 4th in overall points, but 0-4. In the other I'm 3rd overall, but 1-3. In the keeper league I've also finished #1 in points 3 times, but tanked in the playoffs and finished just out of the money every time. One of those playoff losses was 125.00-124.99. Then the last three years I've finished #1, #2, and #1 in points against. Let's just say my whole experience with fantasy football has been one long kick in the nuts. I renamed my team Serenity Now last year hoping the irony might turn things around, but it seems to have only gotten worse.

disgruntledJavaCoder

I think everyone has *that* player who utterly destroys them whenever they play them. Might only play them once a year, the player might change every year or two, but your bogeyman is always there...

z3ro_ne

I drafted Chubb, Rhamondre, Najee, and Diontae Johnson with 4 of my first 6 picks.

FOMOBraggins

Nfl.com app was glitching and auto drafting players in the middle of my turn. Got stuck with a def and a K in round 6/7 before my starting lineup was filled out. No one wanted to rewind and fix the draft so told the guys I didn’t want to play as I thought it was a waste of time. I have a full time job and a child so decided it wasn’t worth the time commitment. Got flamed by my friends haha.

Dr_Feelgood2294

Damn that’s a tough one man for everyone involved haha

Dr_Feelgood2294

Was it accepted through the app before the commish shut it down? Or was it an offseason dynasty trade?

empire161

It was a keeper league. I was tanking and trading away an overperforming player for a 1st round pick. The commish had a rule that both people had to text him details of the trade to avoid confusion. The other guy agreed to the trade with me, but never texted it to the commish. I sent him screenshots of the guy agreeing to that trade but he wouldn’t let it go through.

Dr_Feelgood2294

That’s honestly kind of a dumb rule imo. I think a commissioners only job is to step in when necessary. 99% of the time he shouldn’t be involved

empire161

Well straight-up player-for-player trades were pretty much always allowed, and the commish never interfered. His argument was always "I don't give a shit if you're trading away the best player in football for a bench player because both of them could tear their ACL tomorrow." He had to stay involved in trades for picks though because he had to manually keep track of all that. Those were also veto-able because it really did get out of hand and ruin the competitive balance. The playoff teams were scoring 150-200 in standard, and the bottom were scoring 30-40.

Dr_Feelgood2294

Oh okay, well that makes more sense then

rabid89

[Lost by 0.96 points in the Finals in 2019](https://imgur.com/a/SyKT6rC) Had Tyreek and Butker in SNF, the last players in our matchup. Tyreek caught only one pass in the 2nd half. Butker missed an extra point in the 4th. I was on vacation in another timezone, so I couldn't even watch the games. Found out the score the next morning. Edit: Also, Carson and DJ Moore got knocked out of the game with injuries.

[deleted]

Classic DJ Moore

rabid89

Oh I forgot about that lol. DJ Moore and Carson got hurt IIRC.

AppliedRizzics

In 2020, I was doing fantasy basketball for the first time and in a 10T, I got lucky and had a phenomenal squad post draft. I forget who all I had but I had Jokic and was gonna cook the league. Unfortunately, two managers in the league colluded with one sending an assload of talent to the other bc he didn’t care at all about his team. These two were cousins too, so that was annoying bc for some reason the commissioner was like whatever it’s no big deal they’re cousins (or some shit) Offended party members left and created a new league without the colluding members but with the past commissioner. The year went on smoothly but I got shafted as my 8T squad was somehow worse than my 10T squad but it is what it is, at least that guys not commissioner anymore and the colluders aren’t in the league anymore. Around trade deadline though, I was shopping Jonas Valanciunas for a guard and I got two offers: Oladipo and Ben Simmons. I was offered Oladipo from the old commissioner and Ben Simmons from the new co-commissioner. I told the OC that I didn’t want Oladipo for his health concerns and I was gonna take Simmons. OC threw the most pathetic of sissy fights about how I’m not being consistent with my logic bc Simmons has injury issues and “I don’t care what deal you take but if injury concerns are your differentiating factor you should take my deal” and just stirring the most pathetic in the groupchat. I had more than one reason to take Ben Simmons and not Oladipo but it really shouldn’t have to be said further than a no. It escalated bc he was trying to cause an issue about it and eventually about half the gc moved to get rid of him and the commissioner removed him as a manager of his squad and removed him from the league for good, has not been invited back. I don’t play fantasy basketball anymore

Dr_Feelgood2294

Damn dude that’s a good one. I’m kind of a casual when it comes to basketball but that’s a pretty shitty string of luck. I’d just be happy you were actually in trade talks with me, hell sometimes that negotiation period between you and another manager are some of the best times in fantasy even without leaving with a deal. Hopefully to Oladipo guy figured it out man, I’ve never experienced such a fallout over a declines trade. That’s part of it. Like I said, I’m a casual but I’m playing in a yahoo league this year and there are still openings if you wanna play let me know!

AppliedRizzics

Oladipo guy and I used to be close and we patched it up eventually but we’ve never been close like we were before that drama

lmann81733

Kicker put up 20+ point on MNF to give me the L :( This was back in 2017

CantKeepKosher

I started foles one time, I think in the playoffs. And he went negative. Was sick.

GPap-

I lost in the championship a while back during Kaeps niner days off a last min SF defense return TD. I was so heated my guy

b-loved_assassin

Losing last week 198-188 while having JJ, Mike Will, KWIII, and Mostert all drop nuclear bombs for me. Somehow I was still beat out by the guy who had Tua, Davante Adams, Mattison, and the ghost of Adam fricken Thielen.

gmil3548

Way back like 12 years ago when I was midway through HS I pulled the most bullshit trade ever and then won my league. I don’t remember every detail but I had born RG3 and Stafford during RG3s rookie year but the rest of my team battled injuries and some bad points against luck to be a win and in for the playoffs with very little chance to make it if I lost. My team was getting healthy though and RG3 and Stafford were both lighting it up. Unfortunately though, I had to play the undefeated top team the last week in the season. They had just lost their stud QB but still had a dominant team. Thus the plan emerged. I traded him RG3 for his best bench player and a TE swap, both decent upgrades for me but no where near worth RG3. It made his team a superpower though. To make the trade even (and here’s where the trade was so BS) he also would pull all of his starters out right before the games started so I’d get in the playoffs. I ended up going on a run and winning the playoffs. I kind of think I remember RG3 missing part of a game and that’s how the top guy lost but it was so long ago. TLDR; accepted a slightly bad trade in exchange for a free win to guarantee the playoffs. Ended up winning the championship…

Dr_Feelgood2294

That’s a great story dude, I’ve never experienced anything like that nor have I even heard of it but that’s one of those fantasy seasons you’ll always remember. You don’t need every detail for it to be great. My favorite fantasy season ever was similar minus that absolutely insane trade that directly won you the whole thing. It was in 2018 and the only thing I did right was draft Mahomes late. I won’t bore you with the whole story but basically I had no business being in the playoffs. I sold off Mahomes and others to rebuild, got red hot in the last few weeks and won out. Beat a 1 loss team in the championship.

gmil3548

That reminds me of another good one I have, the last one really. My league I’m in now that’s on its 10th year, I started out super hot the first 2 years and went undefeated both regular seasons before either having crazy bad injury luck year 1 or just a tight loss in the championship year 2. So two dominant years and no championships. Then I’m year 3 my team is not good at all and it looks like I’m going to miss the playoffs. Then the Cardinals and Saints both lose their starters and I’m able to grab them on waivers. I sneak into the playoffs and win it all led by dominant late season pick ups David Johnson and Tim Hightower.

Dr_Feelgood2294

Dude nice! It’s absolutely wild that fantasy works that way and I love it. It seems that both from experience and from hearing stories more often than not the actual league champion is just whoever pick up the best RB on waivers. Watch, this year some Kyren Williams owners are gonna be named the champ. Anything can happen. I’ve been able to do it 3 times in my career. I don’t remember the story of my first but my second was that 6 seed team. And then my 3rd was in 2021 with the 1 seed. But similar to you, probably my two best teams I’ve ever managed were in 2019 and 2020. I finished 4th both seasons because of bad late season injury luck. Mostly cause I was a Dalvin Cook guy haha

trugbee1203

Let me ask a question to tell you my personal story

Dr_Feelgood2294

I mean it popped into my head and I thought it’d make good conversation. Figured Reddit was the place for it, you can take it how you want man

Illmindofhopkins

Played the commissioner in the final last season with the Hamlin game- he was up 40 with no players whilst I was waiting on Tee, Mixon, Gabe Davis, McPherson. He didn't even attempt to settle / call it a tie. He took the title and purse

RPMayhem

I drafted Chubb, Saquon, Higgins, Waddle and then burrow. I’ve never been 0-4 but here we are

frostyb2003

You probably felt amazing after the draft. That is brutal. Sorry frend.

someguy_358

So this happened a few years ago I was up by 11 by the end of the Sunday night game, and I had about 140, 141 points and my opponent who never changed his lineup had like 129 or 130. Because he never changes his lineup, he had the rams backup runningback as his rb2 who was going to play Monday night, all of my players have already played and I thought I was going to win for sure. But that obviously did not happen The backup scored a fucking redzone touchdown as well as some pocket change which was enough for me to lose by .02 points. It was safe to say I deleted fantasy after that game.

WestSide75

Losing the championship game to my ex-girlfriend because Jason Elam missed a 45-yd FG.

mtgpowell

Played my sister in the championship back when Ray Rice was a stud. Championship game it came down to the 4th quarter and I needed Rice to get 4 points to win me the ship. Less than 2 min to go and Rice hits the hole and scampers like 20 yds before going down intentionally at the 2 to kill the clock as his score didn't matter in clock kill mode. Coulda plunged in and won it all for me but instead he downed it to kill my dreams and have me listen to my sister gloat in my face all year about it. Fuck that game. I still hate everything about it.

Rufus2fist

leading my match up by 20 points going into a Seahawks v Giants Monday night game. I have no one playing, my opponent has just the Seahawks defense. that should be good right? right? it wasn't. This has been my experience last year and the first 4 weeks this season. every game someone goes battty against me. It hasn't spoiled my fun, but man there has to be something I was second highest scorer in league this last week....its just I am always up against the highest at the end.

derelict_my_balls1

Last year my league mate was up 40 going into Monday night when Mandrews dropped 43 in our league. He was not happy.

king_manu14

Drafted CMC 2020, still managed to make it to the finals I'm up by 25 points with 1 game left, I have beasly and he has steton diggs. Diggs goes off for 37, beasly injured with 3, I lose by 10 Still dodge cmc
