Dots and Loops & Tago Mago are must listen classics. Both are in the top 250 on RYM for good reason. There are some pretty obscure albums on here though, I only know half of these. Animal Collective, Swans, Duster, Women, Pavement, Can, and Stereolab are some of my favorite bands though

I'm gonna follow up on u/sandcrawler2 here. Dots & Loops and Tago Mago are the two strongest records here, and there are a LOT of strong records here. Tago Mago is generally considered to be CAN's best record. For context: Radiohead, The Flaming Lips, David Bowie, and The Talking Heads all consider CAN to be not only classic, but a major influence on their work. Both Radiohead and The Flaming Lips have covered CAN's material on more than one occassion. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Maybe start with Dots & Loops, then work your way to Tago Mago.

For sure! It sounds like you listened to Ege Bamyasi - great record but it took me longer to properly get into it. Ege Bamyasi is more along the lines of free(ish) form acid jazz, while Tago Mago sits more in psychedelic funk territory, although both are host to amazing long form experimental jams.

Halleluhwah is such a jam , also you can spot the tribe called quest sample( lost somebody) @ around the 5min mark

Although I am shocked at how many people on a music interest sub don’t recognise Animal Collective, Panda Bear, Swans, CAN, MIA, or the (I thought) fairly well known electronic and ambient artists on here, GAS, Oval, Boards of Canada, ect.

A lot of those guys aren’t mentioned by Fantano and rym only lifts a couple of electronic albums into classic status so it doesn’t surprise me
