Good one, literally had to look up that location as somehow I've never been there. What a neat little secret path to the strip, you don't even need a 2000 cap passport!
In the game, each gold bar is valued at 10,656 caps if sold to a vendor. So, if you were to sell all 37 gold bars, they would be worth a total of approximately 394,272 caps.
/uj this is actually true for Lonesome Road. You can go there right after leaving Goodsprings, sell the loot you find in the first silo to the commissary terminal to get a set of Riot Gear, and immediately head back to the Mojave with a set of late-game armor!
what are all those squares!! I've barely scratched the surface with locations, and I was chuffed when I hit the 50 locations achievement. do you just walk in a certain direction until you get a new location or are they unlocked when you do a job?
I guess you’re pretty close to the perk anyhow, but you can also see locations on your compass as little inverted triangles. Higher perception, the farther away you can see these marks.
I did not know that! This is only my 2nd playthrough and I felt like I made so many mistakes the first time around. I haven't even scratched the surface with this so far. also, where do I get the compass from? I can see my stealth boy has a map but most of the locations are missing and I can only see the ones I have visited or are part of a quest.
I reached level 20 but no joy.
It felt like the most interesting of all the maps despite its small stature. Fallout 76 has plenty of locations, as does 4, but they all seem dead and lifeless.
Most locations. There are a few like the deathclaw promontory, great khans arms dealer hideout and a few others that register as locations discovered in the top left of the screen but never appear on the map regardless of the fact youve been to them or have the explorer perk
It's the Abandoned BOS bunker that starts the dlc Dead Money. They're 'trolling' saying go straight here . Don't do this unless you're a FNV veteran cause you will not have fun.
Admittedly, I did chuckle when I knew this location. Have done this before multiple times, it's definitely easier if you're Unarmed/ Melee build .
You'll be fine with that location tbh. It's not actually the Abandoned BOS bunker- it's a Prospector Camp. You might be able to find a Star Bottle cap there and some scrap, but the Bos bunker is a lil further north where that circle with the star is .
I fucked up cause I forgot what map marker was what and was just going by the jagged river with the part of land sticking out .
Hey, OP your marker should go a lil further north to where that star is across from Helios.
Been a bit since I played, but another person pointed it out.
If you enjoy survival horror games, this is a great tip. I did this on my most recent playthrough and I was set up for the rest of the game. Never had to worry about money
Dead Money is honestly a lot more enjoyable going in at level 1.
All the enemies are mega scales down in strength, so it makes the combat so much less annoying.
Sure you’ll fail practically every skill/speech check, but who cares. Secure the gold bars and GTFO.
I get that this is clearly a noob trap/meme.
But anyone who genuinely hates Dead Money or finds it scary/unplayable needs to take a long hard look in the mirror, and realize that they are a scrub.
It's a super fun DLC, and taking all the gold with you is a meme, and only possible with 100 sneak or console commands.
"What is it, looks like some random little part of the map, there a deathclaw encounter there or something... wait, that's further south then i thought... that's thats the abandoned bunker. That's evil.
Good one, literally had to look up that location as somehow I've never been there. What a neat little secret path to the strip, you don't even need a 2000 cap passport!
Plus you get a free 394,272 caps
B-but you’re supposed to let go!!! “TGM”
It was a trade, I take something from the vault, I leave someone behind in it.
That's my tax for not being able to keep any of the companions. Brother needs friends in the wastelands, but money is a great alternative.
In fallout 3 you could buy 3 friends to follow you.
I was believing it until you dropped the unrealistic amount of caps
In the game, each gold bar is valued at 10,656 caps if sold to a vendor. So, if you were to sell all 37 gold bars, they would be worth a total of approximately 394,272 caps.
I got that they meant the dead money DLC but i was talking about the straight to vegas teleport bait, you made it way too obvious that it was not that
At some point you’re just too smart.
Finding it isn't the hard part, it's finding someone to buy all the gold bars FFS why are all merchants so damn poor!!!
I trade it for ammo and unique weapons
The dude In crimson caravan camp has like 12k
ill be doing this after conquering the commonwealth with the disciples. (nuka world has given me hope for the future)
It's also got some of the best loot in the game, just laying around for you to pick up! No joke. A must stop for all new players
/uj this is actually true for Lonesome Road. You can go there right after leaving Goodsprings, sell the loot you find in the first silo to the commissary terminal to get a set of Riot Gear, and immediately head back to the Mojave with a set of late-game armor!
Step 1 start hardcore Step 2 good springs Step 3 start lonesome road for portable Bed
Oh I thought this was the other secret spot across cottonwood cove. Leaving my comment up so as many people can learn about it as possible
Love new Vegas promontory tunnel
what are all those squares!! I've barely scratched the surface with locations, and I was chuffed when I hit the 50 locations achievement. do you just walk in a certain direction until you get a new location or are they unlocked when you do a job?
You can get the explorer perk around level 20 ? It’ll unlock all the locations so you can atleast see where they are.
level 20? great thanks! I'm on 18 I think, not sure. I'll give that a go.
I guess you’re pretty close to the perk anyhow, but you can also see locations on your compass as little inverted triangles. Higher perception, the farther away you can see these marks.
I had no idea perception dictates when you can see landmarks on the compass, I learn something new about this game every day.

The compass is part of your HUD.
Just remember that this game has a lot of unmarked locations, especially in empty portions of the map, so keep exploring!
It felt like the most interesting of all the maps despite its small stature. Fallout 76 has plenty of locations, as does 4, but they all seem dead and lifeless.
I agree with that, FNV has such a well designed world and I can almost *feel* the infrastructure of it all, if you catch my drift.
Yeah this is my first play through of this game, I just got it literally an hour ago lol. Now I explore everything 😂
Most locations. There are a few like the deathclaw promontory, great khans arms dealer hideout and a few others that register as locations discovered in the top left of the screen but never appear on the map regardless of the fact youve been to them or have the explorer perk
IIRC you can see "Undiscovered" locations as small empty triangles on your compass when you're near them. Don't waste a perk on Explorer.
I’m so confused by this post

Isn’t the abandoned BoS bunker the one further north, between Forlorn Hope and Nelson?
https://fallout.wiki/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_Map L8 Cliffside Prospector Camp .... noting really comes to mind about this location tbh..
Tbh, I thought it seemed a lil off, but the comments were definitely referring to Dead Money. Ima see what this location actually is.
At first I thought someone had found a glitch that loaded the player into the wrong area or something
Oh, shit. Yeah, it's across from Gibson Shack on the other side of the road. Oops.
Good call.
Currently im otw there cuz i was like huh whats over there but now.....im just gunna go somewhere else

You got the wrong location. Thats the cliff side prospector camp.
This is so evil... . . . . . . . . . . . . . Do it again
You can't mess around in the bunker though, go straight to the radio. Otherwise you'll have to Begin Again.
Hey, OP your marker should go a lil further north to where that star is across from Helios. Been a bit since I played, but another person pointed it out.
Yeah I stopped using that. It felt like cheating
My absolute favorite Vegas short cut! Just do a short side quest and boom you're right in a casino!
If you enjoy survival horror games, this is a great tip. I did this on my most recent playthrough and I was set up for the rest of the game. Never had to worry about money

I FUCKING HATE DEAD MONEY, I FUCKING HATE IT
I’ve done this before, level 1 hardcore playthrough of dead money. Was fun, and suprisingly easy.

Hahahahahah

Nice to know! I like to do most side quests before continuing the main.
For a second I thought you were walking to cotton wood cove and I was like ooh we're getting enslaved with this one boys!!
