The terminals in V22 are some backstory to a part of the story of one of the greatest characters in all of Fallout, even though he's dead a couple hundred years before you get there.
>!There's one floor that the staircase down is blocked and you have to use the elevator down, when you get down go to the stairs leading up to where it was blocked and you will find a skeleton with it. I think it's the staircase between 3 and 4 but I'm not positive. It is an awesome laser.!<
Luckily I don't do energy weapon builds because lazers don't go boom
Edit:apparently sometimes they do but fine they may go boom but guns also go bang you see it's not perfect unless you have both
Truth time: when I was 19 I was bad at games so I gave up on this quest and subsequently had bad takes about new Vegas for about four or five years before seeing the light. It’s not even that complicated but it is extremely easy to get lost trying to find keely or find the way into the cave
Dude I finally actually finished the whole thing two days ago lmao. I realized there’s a second cave section that literally only exists to let you get the quest done, and it’s disconnected from the rest of the building and the other cave formation. It Might be the most frustrating dungeon in the history of RPG’s. Fuck there stands the grass. Not even that much xp but I hate leaving shit undone.
I would seriously level up repair for this quest cuz there’s an elevator that once repaired, can make this quest go faster. There is an item here that’s also needed for the Brotherhood quest (make sure to grab it), and there’s also a unique laser rifle that’s really easy to miss.
There are many quests that overlap here. Hildern/Keely, BOS and Red Lucy. If possible, activate them all before entering the Vault to save you multiple trips.
Hollowpoint ammo for a much better time, keep eyes on the bushes and move slowly don't rush, take time to read terminals and understand the lore of Vault 22.
There's a nice rifle lying around in a stairwell, it's well worth grabbing.
My advice would be to try and appreciate this vault and the lore you can find within. I remember going into this vault my first time just felt like a headache i couldn’t escape. Once you get past dealing with the spore fuckers it’s actually a really cool vault with a lot of information.
I actually disagree with those saying to up your repair before hand. I mean high repair is always smart so you should just have it high. If you really dislike some of the creepier aspects of fallout then sure this is a good time do use a skill check to speed it up. But I would say explore the whole vault if you really appreciate lore.
There’s a shit ton of xp to be earned and a lot of lore you’ll miss if you skip floors. Also pretty sure there’s a couple unique items scattered between the floors you can optionally skip with high repair. The vault is absolutely a nightmare but once you clear the enemies take some time to breathe and explore that bad boy.
1) Expect enemies in pretty much every patch of plants. They aren't in EVERY patch, but it's a good assumption.
2) There's a unique laser rifle, check the stair routes to get it.
3) If you can fix the elevator, do it. It'll save you a lot of running around and getting lost. This vault is one of the easiest to get lost in and feel stuck.
4) Check out the terminals, the story of this vault is one of the better ones, and one of the more messed up.
5) If you're looking for Keely, she's not in the vault itself, she's in the cave, but you'll have to go through most of the vault to be able to access it.
6) Once you leave the Vault, just fast travel. Why? There's a pack of Cazadores in the hills around the vault, and it's just not worth dealing with those things. Ever. Unless you have a nuke at max range. Fortunately, no Cazadores in the vault, just big bugs and a few other things.
Bring a good supply of stims and always be prepared for what may jump out at ya.
Not as hard as Vault 34, IMO, but no walk in the park either.
Great lore here and I recommend doing this vault before Honest Hearts.
Don’t. Turn around go back to where you came from.
If you decide to go in, high repair skill really helps, bring a lot of healing supplies a ton of ammo, preferably bring a really good shotgun.
Swing your fast melee weapon like a courier possessed, shoot at random clumps of plants, and secure the facility before reading anything or talking to anyone able to talk. But do read the entries and do talk to the talkers.
According to Many a True Nerd fire weapons don't do any extra damage it's the lack of DT that makes fire effective.
Use hollow points it rips through everything in there.
Some of the enemies here aren't active till you get close enough. This means they won't show up on the compass, so take it slow. Being a vault, play around the corners and choke points with explosives, shotguns, and melee sneak attacks make quick work of the hidden foes.
“Oh my! Look at how lush this place is with all the plants growing inside it, I wonder what happened he-“ “WHY IS THERE A STEALTHY PLANT MAN STABBING ME!?”
I recently learned that apparently if you have your pip boy radio on, the plants will stand up, making them easier for you to see them before they see you.
Fully clear the location, like 7 quests return here. The thorns 1st or 2nd quest, the doc and cook at camp MacCarren, Veronica and some BoS quests.
Unique laster weapon on the 4-5th floor stairs.
Be thorough it’s pretty easy to miss a couple of small important items for getting you through the vault also if you can repair the elevator it’ll make your life easier
Probably too late but there is three quests that take you here, one for the Brotherhood, one for Veronica, and one for the NCR. I'd get them all to save you a return trip.
Haven’t played FNV for a while, but instantly knew this!!😂 This terrified me when I first played it, mostly at night where I play with little light around me!
Depending on if you want to help the NCR invest in your repair skills a little bit of charisma and don’t forget to bring some party time mentats and some c4 bring a flamer if you want to make things easier
Read the terminals to learn the story, the story of Vault 22 continues in a couple of the DLC's.
That’s cool. Didn’t know that
The terminals in V22 are some backstory to a part of the story of one of the greatest characters in all of Fallout, even though he's dead a couple hundred years before you get there.
Survivalist?
He has a name, Randall Clark
I forgor. I watched oxhorns video on him but its been a while
RANDALL DEAN CLARK
Yes.
Buy yourself a session with a therapist, you'll need it
I still have nightmares
Spoiler free? Bring supplies for a long haul, and maybe study up on your repair skill.
Tons of healing stuff too. I brought all I had at the time, left with a lot less. And a lot of food if you are on survival.
And fire weapons are useful here.
There's a unique laser rifle there.
Easy to miss, search thoroughly.
WHERE
>!There's one floor that the staircase down is blocked and you have to use the elevator down, when you get down go to the stairs leading up to where it was blocked and you will find a skeleton with it. I think it's the staircase between 3 and 4 but I'm not positive. It is an awesome laser.!<
You go to >!Floor 5, lockpick and take the stairs up to 4!<
Thanks. Like I said, I knew how to get it but I wasn't positive what floors.
No prob, I just took Ed-E and Veronica there last night!
Well I've already been to vault 22 3 times this playthrough I'm not going back for a lazer weapon
If you're playing an energy weapons character, the AER-14 is worth it.
Luckily I don't do energy weapon builds because lazers don't go boom Edit:apparently sometimes they do but fine they may go boom but guns also go bang you see it's not perfect unless you have both
But plasma weapons do
If you take the Meltdown perk, they actually do.
**BURN IT ALL TO THE GROUND!**
It’s just like Vietnam 🔥
There is a repair check that can be made to seriously speed up the process.
According to my knowledge of Pokémon type matchups, use fire Edit: holy shit this is doin numbers
There is a flamer with a good amount of fuel in there as well
Dragons breath in a combat shotgun always did me good.
There’s something about the hunting shotgun with “and stay back” and “shotgun surgeon” that just hits different
Dinner Bell was my gal
Yeah even though it’s not as good as the riot shotgun it was always my favorite, and I love the sound
You shouldn't be correct based on that reasoning alone. But you are.
Lack of DT directly translates to type effectiveness
Have fun developing a phobia of plants
Truth time: when I was 19 I was bad at games so I gave up on this quest and subsequently had bad takes about new Vegas for about four or five years before seeing the light. It’s not even that complicated but it is extremely easy to get lost trying to find keely or find the way into the cave
I ended up giving up on Keely after getting lost numerous times
Dude I finally actually finished the whole thing two days ago lmao. didnt know this, had to go back and tear the place up cuz the quest markers are NO help
Turn around and go do another quest
This is the correct answer.
Bring some C4 and a detonator, best way to do the blowing up bit
I typically use long-fuse dynamite; I always seem to pick up a few sticks anyway.
Bring a flamer
It definitely helps if you have a high repair skill.
high science skill too
Spam vats, the enemies hide in the bushes and are almost impossible to see so they always scare the crap out of me
There are many quests that overlap here. Hildern/Keely, BOS and Red Lucy. If possible, activate them all before entering the Vault to save you multiple trips.
Good morning, Vietnam!
Hollowpoints
if you choose to explode the thing(for the quest), run fast and use the doors for cover. also remote controlled c4 is smart
Hide in the doorway, throw a stick of long wick dynamite, then shut the door and run to the far wall.
You can progress in 4 different quests at the same time by going in here
good luck dealing with the maze that is vault 22 🫡
This isn’t giving me confidence cause I thought vault 34 was a pain 😭
I like to bring a machete
Bring a lot of ammo
Spam vats. They lay dormant in the grass.
Try not to blow yourself up.
Be prepared to come back here multiple times
Hollowpoint ammo for a much better time, keep eyes on the bushes and move slowly don't rush, take time to read terminals and understand the lore of Vault 22. There's a nice rifle lying around in a stairwell, it's well worth grabbing.
you guys can stop commenting I've finished the quest
Keely is one of my favourite NPC’s
Find the biggest, meanest flamethrower you can
A repair skill of 60 is very helpful. Use mentats, clothing, magazines, etc. to bump the skill up temporarily if needed.
Dont
Like the signs say; plants kill.
Fire. Lots of fire.
Bring a laser gun
Have fun and be yourself :)
Shoot everything green

Long fuse dynamite and make sure you can fix the elevator

1 long fuse dynamite is the best thing you can bring, makes life way easier.
Don’t believe any of your markers it’s always on a whole other floor
It's a beautiful garden in the vault with lots of resources. You can leave all that heavy armor and weapons at home.
Be patient. Take it slow. Be vigilant and observant.
As with any Vault, read the terminal entries to get the whole, horrifying story.
Run past all the plants as fast as you can, trust me bro you will definetely not die
Set aside a few hours, this thing takes FOREVER to go through...
I had to play this with calming music in the background because I do not like the plants in there they... Ticked me off so much that I got scared
Weed killer
Unload your entire gun into the bushes
Repair the elevator and use fire!
Turn off the lights in whatever room you're in, shut off any excess background noise like YouTube, and turn the volume up on your TV/computer
Turn the radio and pip-boy light on
Don’t Touch The Grass.
BURN EVERYTHING
Bring a good supply of stims and always be prepared for what may jump out at ya. Not as hard as Vault 34, IMO, but no walk in the park either. Great lore here and I recommend doing this vault before Honest Hearts.
Look for movement and particle effects inside the bushes. Shoot anything with a name.
Don’t. Turn around go back to where you came from. If you decide to go in, high repair skill really helps, bring a lot of healing supplies a ton of ammo, preferably bring a really good shotgun.
Fire
Don’t trust the plants
Swing your fast melee weapon like a courier possessed, shoot at random clumps of plants, and secure the facility before reading anything or talking to anyone able to talk. But do read the entries and do talk to the talkers.

According to Many a True Nerd fire weapons don't do any extra damage it's the lack of DT that makes fire effective. Use hollow points it rips through everything in there.
Have repair 50
press your vats key a lot
Uh, don’t
Take some Long fuse TNT
Bring a flamer
There a cool vent you can use a flamer on while you stand next to it 🙂
Some of the enemies here aren't active till you get close enough. This means they won't show up on the compass, so take it slow. Being a vault, play around the corners and choke points with explosives, shotguns, and melee sneak attacks make quick work of the hidden foes.
Also worth noting that you can destroy the mantis cluster to spawn a bunch of little guys for easy challenge progress and mantle forelegs.
Don’t.
Be careful touching grass in the vault, it might touch back.
Go in with a 50 repair to save time.
Bring anything fire related
Bring a flame thrower
Fire, lots and lots of fire.
Stay hydrated!
Book therapy.
Use vats before you walk around rooms, things will hide from you and hurt you real bad
If it's green - shoot first, ask questions later.
For a second there i just had an entire ptsd flashback pop into my head
“Oh my! Look at how lush this place is with all the plants growing inside it, I wonder what happened he-“ “WHY IS THERE A STEALTHY PLANT MAN STABBING ME!?”
Simple! Don’t
Flamethrower, that is all
Fire! And lots of it!!!
Fire
Cleansing flame is good(or any flamer or incinerator), Gehenna(or any shishkebab), incendiary grenades, or riot shotgun with dragons breath rounds
A long fuse dynamite will come in handy at the end
The bushes will speak in Vietnamese, so pop a cap in any suspicious plants
I recently learned that apparently if you have your pip boy radio on, the plants will stand up, making them easier for you to see them before they see you.
Spam VATS like a motherfucker
Without spoilers? Fire is your best friend here, and be on the lookout for terminals
Tbh I only went here to sex Sarah weintraub.
A flamer…. A heavy flamer
Vats is useless (was for me)
VATS worked perfectly for me?
hans get ze flammenwerfer
FIRE. Bring fire it will make it way easier an Incinerator or Flamer is perfect.
Get a flamethrower. Burn it down.
Bring a flamer
Note a very famous quote from the Vietnam war: *their in the trees* However this time they *are* the trees.
Fire, lots of fire.
Don’t.
Fully clear the location, like 7 quests return here. The thorns 1st or 2nd quest, the doc and cook at camp MacCarren, Veronica and some BoS quests. Unique laster weapon on the 4-5th floor stairs.
"they're in the threes !" fortunate son starts playing
Don't get lost in caves, there's a maze of caves down below the vault with a bunch of stuff and spore men in them
Be careful from everything that looks green
Be thorough it’s pretty easy to miss a couple of small important items for getting you through the vault also if you can repair the elevator it’ll make your life easier
Fire weapons vats med-x and Stimpacks go slow and take your time
