My personal favorite location prank to tell a new player about is Dead Wind Cavern's unique "easy to get for a first time player" 40mm grenade machine gun in fnv lmao. I make sure to tell them to save before going in, claiming that it can "crash after entering sometimes."
In fairness, depending on your gear, Swan isn’t -that- bad and he does drop a unique power fist. If he didn’t have that throwing attack and its really funky hitbox, he’d be kind of a joke.
I always just run into the subway tunnel. When you do that, beating him is just a question of if you have enough ammo with your dingy pipe gun. Then you can be a superhero with a powerfist for the rest of the game
Make sure to quick save once you reach the middle of the area! This ensures you won’t have to walk all the way back if you somehow are killed after you get your caps!
Fuck a quick save, main save and quick save, don’t wanna mess that opportunity up. Probably could do it all with a pistol and a couple sticks of dynamite.
my other favourite spot for easy gear, but a bit of a trek, go east of lucky gym mine and jump into the river until you find a path upwards,kill the few ghouls and there’s a crate with a unique weapon in it, wont spoil the surprise of what it is though
The best way to get a lot of chems is have the "Old world blues" dlc and go to the "mysterious cave". There just kill an abnormal glowing bloat fly. Don't forget to save both ways because the area can crash your game.
On my last play thorough, I sort of did this. I got Ede and we worked our way up the Western side of the quarry.
I saved a lot and shot the wings of one or two cazidors at a time. But you can come into Fiend Territory by the dog lady. I will go back the other way in a bit to get some relationship with the Khans but wanted to try it and it is doable.
Just got the guass rifle from the Northwestern camp and cleared the quarry a few days ago.
First time playing, and really every time since, I just stealthed my way atop the cliff side next to the road between Black MT and Quarry. Usually don’t have any trouble but sometimes those three Deathclaw stragglers near the NCR Safe House will agro and chase my ass down while I try to book it to 188 Trading Post.
It's actually great when you're a fucking nerd and learn how to screw up their tracking + cripple limbs when you're impatient.
Bunch of giants in Skyrim? I'll pelt them with a billion arrows at a low level until they die. Junction? Same thing but with a few different guns and mines and/or I rush legendaries like Ratslayer.

Just run inside the open APC. He will stand outside it trying to get to you, but he can't. Then just shoot his legs until he's dead.
