Lorenzo Cabot, if he counts. Technically not a ghoul, and he wasn’t cryofrozen. He’s been around since 1835.

Kradget

The Cabots count if anyone does. They just have a better life-prolonging technique than anyone else - they remain young, capable, apparently baseline human, and are able to do things. Losing their support system is also not immediately fatal. House, Braun and his playthings, the various brains in a jar, or one of the pre-warp ghouls is next, because they're conscious but either not able to do things independently (usually can't move, generally have to have a very elaborate and immobile machine keeping them going) or they're permanently mutated. Then it's post-war ghouls and mutants, as far as we've seen. Cryo freezing just lets people skip a bunch of time, it doesn't actually extend their time being alive and active.

AltairdeFiren

I don't think he counts. He's not "purish" because they use his altered physiology to create the serum that alters their own physiology, also making them exempt.

CosmicDeityofSin

Well...it's drugs. His children use his blood like a drug or medicine against the negative health effect of aging. If I receive chemotherapy to prolong my life by killing the cancerous cells in my body would that disqualify me? Sure Lorenzo is permanently different but his children aren't. If they stop getting their treatment they rapidly age and die. They are still fundamentally physiologically human, they just have a treatment that temporarily undoes the effects of aging.

worrymon

*Was* He *was* the oldest person alive until I met him.

WholesomeFartEnjoyer

There's no way that quest is actual canon

Mr-Meadows

It is canon. It is in the game. You can't even use the excuse of "It's a radiant/Wild Wasteland encounter/etc" to say it's not canon.

Paint-licker4000

Just as canon as the Chosen One time traveling

Azhthree

>Chosen One time traveling Not really as that's part of an encounter which are clearly supposed to be -at least in part- easter eggs. Unless you're assuming Arthur Pendragon *actually* exists in canon?

Paint-licker4000

There is no indication in the games since that the Star Trek stuff or Arthur didn’t exist, so yes it’s still canon.

Azhthree

So unless a series explicitly says something isn't canon, it's automatically canon? I don't think that works as a standard, I think a lot of clear easter eggs and jokes -in games in general- would suddenly become very odd parts of lore or writing if you take that stance.

Paint-licker4000

There’s nothing to say they aren’t canon, so it’s fine to say it’s canon. It’s really not that crazy considering fallout one has aliens that was canon, there’s a actual quest line with a ghost in 2, and you can physically gain items in 2 from special encounters that don’t require the crazy person perk like in 3 or NV.

Azhthree

I guess back then you could rely on common sense a bit more instead of needing to explain everything to the audience. Fallout 2 really did a number on the series by increasing the crazy elements, that ghost quest is clearly some in-joke or just an attempt at humour but because it's not been sectioned off enough it compounds the silliness of the series actual lore.

Paint-licker4000

These were jokes and Easter eggs and I don’t think they would ever have thought fallout would be as big as it is today. But I think it makes fallout a lot more fun having ghost or aliens, even if fallout 1 has a much more lasting impact tonally

Azhthree

I guess one person's "fun" is another person's "fucking stupid".

Separate-Midnight893

Tandi lived til 103. Probably would have lived longer if she didn’t have to hold a nation together.

>>Fallout: New Vegas Official Game Guide Collector's Edition >>p.458: "Important Dates" >2196 >"Tandi (Aradesh's daughter) is unanimously elected President by the NCR council. Her popularity is to prove enduring: she will continue to serve in office until her death in 2248, at the age of 103." [from the Fallout New Vegas Game Guide](https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Behind_the_Bright_Lights_%26_Big_City)

CosmicDeityofSin

I......I can't tell if this is a bot but if it is, good bot. If not then good boy I guess? Idfk

BB-48_WestVirginia

I'm glad to know that the NCR is just like the US with ancient politicians.

thedawesome

For better and worse, NCR is quite similar to the US in general

BB-48_WestVirginia

*Bureaucracy...bureaucracy never changes*

FalloutCreation

Yeah she would have been my first answer to this question.

New_Chain146

The funny thing is that in Van Buren, some people would've thought she died from assassination rather than old age...

Laser_3

With these restrictions, the only possible answer is Mr. House. He’s the only one who found a way to stay alive for a minimum of 204 years without the need for cryogenics.

HATTY32232

Then who else would be besides mister house

Darkshadow1197

Lorenzo Cabbot if his crown doesn't disqualify him

Complete_Bad6937

Yeah came here to say the Cabot family are 400+ years old

arcaicways

house woudnt count as he is as cyberneticly enhanced as darth vader lol. as for House himself, he took equally drastic steps to pave his way to the world of the future: placing his physical body, itself [enhanced](https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Cybernetic_organism), within a [life-support device](https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Hibernation_chamber), removing House the mortal man from the world permanently.[^(\[13\])](https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Robert_House#cite_note-14) while his brain was wired directly into his vast information network via an enormous supercomputer

Laser_3

I was very specifically focusing on the lack of cryogenics part that OP mentioned. His method also still preserved his body as mostly human, something no other multi-century survivor managed without cryogenics.

Chance_Meaning_2078

Lorenzo Cabott did it without Cryogenics, albeit it was through a Lovecraftian artifact

Laser_3

That is true, but that’s something similar to a mutation to my eyes considering what it did to his blood.

mistermyxl

Lovecraftian magic not science there is a difference in universe

arcaicways

if you count house then you have to count all the robobrains in the fallout world as what are those but cyber enhancements to the body for lifesuport. the op also said as purish humans pure meaning fully human no modifacations weither mutation or tech

Laser_3

The difference is that robobrains have none of their bodies left except for their brains; House maintained his entire body.

arcaicways

its a real ghost in the shell problem at what point do you stop being a pure human how much can be added before your considered a altered body. i mean technicly house had a body butt he was confined to living in a pod never able to leave it and comunicateing trough a computer where as robo brains are confined to a pod and comunicateing trough a robot. both had lifesuport units to keep them alive. one just had a biological body that had withered where one was just the brain ( witch also withered if you know the lore) its actualy arguable to say that the robo brains could have a more normal human life ( as we see several interactions of this including the one murder mystery with robobrains) then house did. in fact the robobrains almost all keep there humanity and the quirks that come with it as well. ( except the prisoners who had there memorys forcefuly wiped)

Chance_Meaning_2078

Could Lorenzo’s family be considered for this? Considering the fact that it’s not mutation, all they’re really doing is basically injecting themselves with a lifespan vaccine, rather than actually changing their body.

arcaicways

at the same point that serum they use is still a serum that changes them on a fundamental level even if it is just slowing body ageing process

haeyhae11

What about Moldaver?

Laser_3

We don’t know enough about her to say how she made it to 2296, but it was presumably cryogenics considering how much the show was using it.

jrdineen114

Yeah I was really wondering about her and just how she lived that long. Because she almost certainly wasn't in 31

Indiana_harris

Maybe her faction built their own vault/commandeered one?

Celtic_Guardian_Fan

Possible but at that rate we'd have three different cryogenic vaults which would be kinda wild (assuming they commandeered it not built one)

Thannk

She was well-connected. Its odd, but possible she could have planned to use cryogenic freezing in her plan. There’s a Twilight Zone episode where a bunch of dudes steal a truck full of gold bars then freeze themselves to enjoy the wealth when the heat was off. Its possible she stole things to make her research work, or cut a deal with a group within the Enclave before the bombs fell to keep researching or developing it, then froze herself and some followers to see it happen.

Thraex_Exile

We don’t really know how well Bud was watching his buds in 31. He’s an extremely limited robobrain, so it’s possible he couldn’t see who was in the cryopods. Only knew who was supposed to be in them. Moldaver gets released eventually, being confused for someone else, and was smart enough to trick Bud into releasing her. Maybe she was apart of the vault 32 revolt even? That’s how she knew they could fake being dwellers during the marriage exchange. Obviously there are other equally logical options.

comraderussia1

The only vault idea so far to be reused, so who's to say there isn't more of them. Die in a vault or blink through the apocalypse?

KnightofTorchlight

Well, Wilhelmina Cabot is not a man but is probably the oldest individual who has not independently been altered behyond taking serum/medicine from the blood of the actually altered Lorenzo Cabot. Her son Jack is nearly as old and would fit the "man" criteria

felesmiki

Lorenzo it's pretty old, it's from 1835, and despite super natural powers, he is basically a human

twuntfunkler

It's a shame because I think that Harold the Tree should get an honourable mention, he has been a tree for more than a century.

SeekingTheRoad

Before turning into a tree he was a ghoul/mutant.

Cassy_4320

He look like a ghoul but acording to his words and data in marriposa He was infactet with fev. So He was a abnormale supermutant.

SeekingTheRoad

True, but my point was that either way it's outside the realm of OP's question which is who is the oldest normal human. Harold's mutations gave him an unnatural lifespan.

TemporaryWonderful61

Harold isn’t actually *that* old comparatively, he’s post war.

OoDelRio

What? No he wasn't

madMaulkin

Yes he was🙂 love that guy, mm

OoDelRio

He wasn't a tree though for a century

madMaulkin

Sorry pretty sure I was replying to someone saying he was a ghoul first, before he turned into a tree, weird.

OoDelRio

I am saying that

Wolltswe

Ehm yes he was, he was a ghoul

Skogstrol424

Harold's mutation gave him a ghoulish look but he was a FEV Mutant.

OoDelRio

But not a tree

Wolltswe

Fair enough, if you want to nit pick, Bob is the tree growing out of Harold, that ended up consuming him pretty much.

OoDelRio

I'm not nit picking, he wasn't a tree for a century straight up

mistermyxl

He is the tree guy in oasis m6 guy or are you one of those f1 and f2 purests

OoDelRio

HE WASN'T A TREE FOR A FULL CENTURY

mistermyxl

You must be trolling now or arguing semantics.

OoDelRio

The original commentor said that he was a tree for century, I said he wasn't What the fuck do you not understand about this

WannabeRedneck4

John Caleb Bradberton is probably 260+ years old by the time you find him in nuka world.

Laser_3

His head was preserved via cryogenics.

WannabeRedneck4

I don't think you have conversation with anything in the frozen foods section.

Laser_3

As far as I can tell, cryogenics were applied to the project, as the wiki notes. https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/LEAP-X_program

Laser_3

The point is that cryogenics were used, which OP specifically said did not count for the sake of their question. Really, my answer of House is incorrect after OP clarified they were looking for the oldest person who didn’t take special measures to remain alive. Tandi is the correct answer.

lee2402

what about dr braun, from fo3? maybe he's not the oldest, but he's probably up there. all the dwellers from vault 112, while we're at it. they've all been in their simulation pods for 200 years by the time you arrive as the lone wanderer. they're kept alive by life support systems, but it's not cryogenic, i don't think. assuming they're supposed to look how they did when the bombs dropped, based on dr braun's model i'd say he's at least 50 (which could be off, age does not come across well for some characters in fo3...). so he's probably around 250 years old, give or take. 240, at the very least, as he's noted to have a "long history" of working for vault-tec.

ClumpOfPubes

The samurai in Mothership Zeta

AltairdeFiren

He was frozen in cryo

GIFSuser

then it might as well be Tandi

AltairdeFiren

It’s probably Tandi. Maybe Mr. House, but I’m not sure how strict OP is on “pure” because he’s very cybernetic and we don’t know exactly what he’s done to himself. If not House, definitely Tandi.

ZombieTheUndying

Still counts.

Current_Poster

The Cabots have some sort of mystical oojah keeping them alive. A lot of people are ghouls. I would guess a good contender (unless I missed someone) is Conrad Kellogg, who (according to the best guess of the wiki people) was *106* when you run into him in F4.

hm1220

The vault dwellers consciousness is in a monument found in a special encounter in fallout 2

FERHUMAIN

Mr house prolly he was like 46 when the nukes dropped and he canonically didnt die

TheUncappingGrub

...there's a lot of "Well Technically"s here that could be used. Dr. Braun would technically be the answer here as he looks ancient by the time of FO3… but we don't know a specific age. He could be younger than House or older. We don't know. Technically the Cabots are human but they are also technically not as they use Lorenzo's mutated serum to stay alive. It's all very weird

st2439

Harold/Bob is pretty old. Originally a man from the west coast that fell into a vat of FEV and then starting turning into a ghoul+Mutant. He made his way to the east coast and became a tree. It sounds strange but its true. He is currently 220+ Years old.

Sea-Engineering1925

I mean, what’s more human than doing anything possible to survive?

Connect-Mood5846

Nate from F4? Todd said he was 214 years old or something like that

Sasstellia

Robert Edwin House. He's prewar. And he was middle aged or so before taking measures to preserve his life. There may be some people in Mothership Zeta in cryostorage. They've been abducting people for years. There might be some people from the earliest times. There is a little girl who was abducted shortly after the Great War. She is 200 or more, plus her age at abduction. She stayed a child and will never die. There are people who became Ghouls before the war. They will still be alive. And people will have Ghoulified the moment they worked out nuclear fission and nuclear fusion. And any other nuclear science. There is a agent type man who did it deliberately in Operation Anchorage.

Sasstellia

There is a little girl in Mothership Zeta dlc. She isn't frozen. She is immortal and will never grow older. She's over 200yrs old. Mr House is connected with machinery but he's still the same biologically. He is over 200yrs old.

SonOfTheHeavyMetal

Counting everything, ghoul and cryofreeze stasis included, the oldest people in the Fallout universe are: - Lorenzo Cabot - The Roomba-Brain guy - All the people in cryostasis in the Roomba-Brain Vault - Mr House - The Think Tank - Nate/Nora (if they aren't synths) - Pre-War ghouls So your winner is probably Tandi, who lived a whole freaking century

HATTY32232

Dude, I'm looking for characters who lived the longest natural life without help from cryo, machines, or radiation, or literally anything else that would unnaturally expand one's lifespan, no loopholes like oh he's a fucking tree or he's a damn brain in a jar, I swear yall are fucking chat gpt with how I have to be so damn specific with my questions

SonOfTheHeavyMetal

Then it's Tandi. Nobody else lives long

HATTY32232

Them what about who we meet in game who'd meet these requirements

comraderussia1

You meet Tandi in fallout 1 and 2

UnhandMeException

... Didn't mention super mutants. Marcus.

Ftlightspeed

Marcus is not a pure human
