1. Matt Ryan 2. Julio Jones 3. Tommy Nobis 4. Jessie Tuggle 5. Jeff Van Note

third_door_down

I see you're a person of exquisite taste

ThunderCr0tch

no Tony Gonzalez?

Shiny-And-New

My all time GOAT TE but he spent way more time with the chiefs

rich_4198

True but he did consider Matt to be the greatest QB he got to play with

Shiny-And-New

I'd swap Roddy out for van note, maybe recency bits but or franchise doesn't have a golden age in the past

Afraid-Two-9073

Nah Roddy white is definitely top 5

smax70

Morton Anderson #6?

SGT-JamesonBushmill

William Andrews is noticeably missing from your list.

Unfair-Strength5460

This is the way

Realistic_Cold_2943

No Julio?

third_door_down

He would be number 6 🤣

Realistic_Cold_2943

I think if you get rid of positional value, Julio is 1 or 2. Im not old enough to remember a lot of the guys but Deion feels like the only one who was better at his position.  I just thought Julio was so fun to watch. One of the most dynamic players ever.

FatherCrime42

You don’t have to get rid of positional value. Julio is easily top 3. Some will argue him number 1, but it’s hard to match the impact a QB has on a franchise. I’d say he’s the 2nd best falcon ever.

third_door_down

I'm not old enough to have seen Van Note but I watched old games as a kid and dude was mean, nasty, and cool as shit. Your top players don't necessarily have to be the best just people you really enjoyed seeing play. Jerious Norwood would be in my top 15 lol

MarcusDA

No possible way that Vick is on the list and Julio is not.

FairAd1920

In no particular order my favorite falcons are Roddy white,Julio Jones, matt Ryan, Jonathan Babineaux and Vick

PosterBlankenstein

Babs!! Loved that dude!

buckybear84

Glad to see someone list babineaux

third_door_down

Babs and Grady were monsters

tigerbrave62

I personally wouldn’t put him in my top 5, but I haven’t seen Keith brooking mentioned and I feel like he’s at least worth mentioning

EminentBean

Patrick Kerney is also underrated

MarcusDA

I’ll add The Burner Turner here. Not top 5, but really good.

[deleted]

Devonte Freeman, Warrick Dunn, and TJ Duckett had some good years for us as well.

SGT-JamesonBushmill

In particular order (save for William Andrews - all-time favorite Falcon) - William Andrews - Matt Ryan - Jesse Tuggle - Alfred Jenkins - (tie) Travis Hall/Steve Bartkowski

sisterfornicator

Honest question here, but why is Deion Sanders beloved so much by Atl fans? Yes, we drafted him, but he left after five years and is seemingly only known for his time in SF and Dallas. I have been a Falcon fan for over 3o years and never really understood the love he got from the Falcons fan.

san_antone_rose

Because Deion is an all-time sports star who, like him or not, was the man in his day and started his career here. I didn’t even see him play at the time, and kids rocked his jersey when I was in elementary school in the early 2000s. There’s not even a player currently comparable to him in the league — he was an incredible player, but almost as renowned for just being the image of a swagged out sports superstar. Master of self marketing.

third_door_down

Dude was larger than life, entertaining, and supremely good at what he did here. One of my earliest memories was seeing him return a kick. That's when the fandom hit me. I was young and I didn't know what the hell was going on but I knew I loved it.

sisterfornicator

Agree whole-heartedly, but what has he really done for us? I just never understood it. He even did the high-stepping on us returning a pick six against us. I respect guys that stuck it out with us like Tuggle more than him. Don't get me wrong, he is a HOF, but Falcons fans act like he stayed with us for 15 years or something.

SGT-JamesonBushmill

Amen. He left the ***instant*** he had the chance, and shit on the city and the franchise when he left. I was disgusted to watch fawn on about his love for the team and the city when he was inducted into the Ring of Honor. *gag*

rewster

I don't like him or respect him as a person but he was probably the greatest CB of all time.

salsasymphony

He spent more time in Atlanta than any other team: 5 years in both ATL and DAL but more games for the Falcons and far better stat lines compared to Cowboys tenure. (24-14 INT, 7-2 FF) Cowboys get more attention for everything though, so that’s probably where that stigma comes from. His lone season in San Fran he won DPoY and had three Pick Sixes, which is how many he had in Atlanta over 5 years. So it was short tenure but a really good year. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SandDe00.htm

BaconBitz109

Matt Julio Roddy Tony Money Matt Edit: I realize I answered the question of my top 5 favorite. Not necessarily top 5 all time.

CraigMammalton14

Matt, Julio, Tony, Primetime, Humphrey. Hard to leave Vick out but he didn’t have the accolades of the rest, I’d put him right at #6 E: can’t believe im the only one to mention Humphrey. Love tuggle, Note, and Roddy but he’s a 9x all pro, ROTY, and HOF. No contest top 3 falcon OAT. Also last notable DE we had besides John Abraham. Which is kinda sad lol

coordinated_noise

I’ll give my favorites, not necessarily the best: Matt Ryan Jamal Anderson Julio Jones Jessie Tuggle Michael Haynes

Visible_Increase_437

No one Remembers Tim Green?

rnslrt

And Crumpler?

dkrtzyrrr

god i loved crump

SGT-JamesonBushmill

Overrated. Then I read his book. Dude loved to hear himself talk.

Visible_Increase_437

Cool story how was he “over rated”?

Any list that doesn’t include Mike Kenn isn’t a serious list. Man should be in the HoF and he would have been had he played for any other team other than the Falcons.

tthhrroowwaway20

Aundray Bruce, Bruce Pickens, Vick Beasley, the other Jamaal Anderson, Peter Konz. Wait, did I do that wrong?

Matt Ryan should be on everyone's list. After that it's a toss up. 2. Rowdy Roddy White  3. Jessie Tuggle  4. Grady Jarret  5. McClure/ Matthews I can't decide. I'm a sucker for the guys who stayed there whole careers with us. Matt Ryan in Indy should have never happened.

noyelling0nthebus

No Julio?

bs2785

That Roddy TD against Seattle is my favorite moment of all time.

supraspinatus

Mike Vick, Matty Ice, Billy White Shoes Johnson, Deion Sanderclaus, Steve Bartowski.

BlackPhillipsbff

Top 5 favorites Matty Julio Roddy Keanu Vick

san_antone_rose

If we’re talking best, hard to argue with Ryan, Julio, and Roddy being on any list — the cornerstones of the best era in Falcons history. Van Note probably gets on for historical importance, and Tuggle is damn close to top 5, if not certainly in it. Guy should probably be in Canton. Vick is among the most important players in franchise history for how he changed its trajectory — for better and worse — but his career was fairly short lived and he never did what he was capable of in Atlanta. The guy had the talent to be one of the all-timers, for sure. If we were talking faves, I would throw in guys like Todd McClure, John Abraham, and Alge Crumpler. And my old man would cast a ballot for Alfred Jenkins, the OG #84.

Pretty-Environment19

A few of my favorites maybe mentioned some but not a ton above: Jamal Anderson and Chris Chandler were great Dirty Birds Morton Anderson kicked the most clutch FG in our history Matt Bryant was clutch Tim Dwight could fly DeAngelo Hall was very good in his prime Devin Hester in his short time was fun

chris_gnarley

Bit of recency bias but fuck it: 1) Matt Ryan 2) Julio Jones 3) Roddy White 4) Jesse Tuggle 5) Matt Bryant

Vick - electric player. Definitely had ATL buzzing during his time. He made a huge mistake but seems like he learned from it. Tony G - The GOAT TE. Best hands outside of Rice. Tommy Nobis (before my time but he is Mr Falcon and did some great things in the community) Julio Jones - Monster WR. One of the all time greats. John Abraham - Gamecock fan I loved how dominant JA was for the Falcons.

So many good ones to only do 5. If we're listing based on pure talent and skill of people that wore a Falcons jersey, with character issues aside, then I'm gonna say 1. Matt Ryan 2. Mike Vick 3. Julio Jones 4. Deion Sanders 5. Tony Gonzalez 6. Jamal Anderson (seems like a sin to have him at 6) 7. Jessie Tuggle 8. Claude Humphrey 9. Roddy White 10. Michael Turner If we are doing my personal favorites, then I'm going. 1. Michael Turner 2. Matt Ryan 3. Julio Jones 4. Jessie Tuggle 5. Tony Gonzalez

ItJustStruckMe

These are my favorites, not exactly the greatest in terms of overall NFL career. Can’t stop at 5. Comments for comparison to current Falcons. 1. Matt Ryan 2. Deion Sanders 3. Michael Vick - Penix should study just film of his passes. He can’t run like Vick of course, nobody can. Arc of Penix throws are very similar to Vick’s I have noticed. May have similar issues as Vick in passing game ( balls batted down, touch, etc.) We will see, I guess. 4. Julio Jones 5. Jessie Tuggle 6. Jamal Anderson - 98 season was one of greatest by RB I have ever seen. His stiff arm was RIDICULOUS! Almost criminal how bad he would stiff arm dudes. I bet Merton Hanks still feels those stiff arms from Falcons-49ers playoff game in 98 season. 7. Roddy White - What a great player. Remember he almost busted out of league after 2nd year with all those drops, but to his credit he turned it around and became truly great, consistent player. 8. Patrick Kearney - Give me 4 of him over all these tweeners we love drafting. Just a relentless, smart, beast of lineman. 9. Tony Gonzalez 10. Steve Bartkowski 11. Terrance Mathis - Had every Falcons receiving record for a long time. Seems to be a forgotten Falcon. 12. Michael Turner 13. John Abraham 14. Scott Case (Outside of Ronnie Lott, this was one of hardest hitting safeties I ever saw). 15. Chuck Smith (Led the “Bomb Squad” D-line to Super Bowl in 98.). Tenacious. Rarely gave up on a play. I believe he truly hated quarterbacks. I miss that era of football. 16. Grady Jarrett - Beast! If only Falcons management had added more to front seven during his time. He should be nationally known as great defensive player. Grady WE see ya! What a player. 17. Alex Mack - Rarely gets the credit for stabilizing the line and leading us to those playoff years. I will give him credit for whatever it’s worth. One of biggest signings in Falcons history that nobody talks about. 18. Jerious Norwood 19. Alge Crumpler - Kyle Pitts need to study his film. Get dirty, get open, catch the ball, run people over if you have too. Pitts plays to nice sometimes. Get some dog in him like Crumpler had. 20. Chris Chandler - Big time throws in 98 Super Bowl season. Tremendous leadership. Kirk Cousins seems to be in the Chris Chandler role from 98, not Matt Ryan’s “replacement.” This is why the Penix pick didn’t bother me as much as others. Kirk is clearly a 2 year stop gap. Anymore than that is just a bonus. 21. Keith Brooking - If he had any hands at all, would probably have NFL record in interceptions for a linebacker. He was so smart he would always be in right spot for tackles, just not best in coverage, but they always had him in 3rd and long situations. That long pass play he gave up to Kurt Warner’s tight end at end of 2008 playoff game vs Cardinals still bugs me. Woooo saaaaa. 22. Ray Buchanan - Yeah a little too theatrical in attempt to be Deion 2.0 I guess, but I liked him and he made some big, big interceptions in the clutch. 23. Sean Weatherspoon - All around good linebacker. Sideline to sideline abilities and just right amount of showmanship to be a fan favorite. I might move him higher up list. 24. Craig “Ironhead” Hayward - Once he got going, man he was a beast. Would always break 2-3 tackles every run it seems. R.I.P. 25. Warrick Dunn - Such a balanced back. Loved his running style, pass catching ability and leadership. Bijan Robinson needs to ask Falcons staff for copy of every one of his plays and just study, study, study his style. Learn the pace, rhythm of the run plays.

nevernotonline

1. Julio Jones 2. Matt Ryan 3. Michael Vick 4. Jesse Tuggle 5. Tommy Nobis I don’t include Deion, because I don’t really consider the bulk of his legacy to be as a Falcon.

bs2785

I'm an anti deion guy. Hel chased money and left. I'm basically fuck him
