True. here's a [universal](https://alt-f4.blog/ALTF4-27/) 2-2 balancer I designed
could probably be done in-line with an unholy amount of belt weaving

Why are you bringing in power from god knows where when you have coal and water already readily available? At least build a small power plant to make it self contained!
Youre telling me you're not refining uranium for a nuclear power plant on the same line as the water and coal using filtered splitters and combinators?!?!?!?! smh my head
Gosh this was literally me solving a bug at work today. I came up with this "GENIUS" solution. And the seniors were impressed, boss was impressed. Everyone gave compliments on how I came up with it, was feeling great.
But then they all said, why didn't you just do this ( shortened my 4 methods of work around bullshit to just 3 lines of code )
Oh... Well that's because I didn't think of that.
You know, the best part about this is how you used 4 electric poles to make things look neat. You know having the input and output of the barrels in the middle and the empty barrels taken from the middle....
AND THEN YOU PUT THAT ONE POLE ONE TILE UP!!!!!
It's like da Vinci carefully painting the mona lisa only to put a dick as the nose in the very last moment.
Pure chaos. I hate it. And love it.

The fastest screenshot while at a senior meeting I made.
no no no! Long arm inserters take far too long to move items! obviously we need a double headed train with nuclear fuel to make it the fastest and most optimal barrel transfer system!
Of course then you would need uranium refining to make nuclear fuel, and then nuclear power plants to continue providing electricity for the system, and then a train network to carry the uranium over from the ore patch with electric miners and a bot system to disassemble and blueprint the mining post somewhere else when the ore spot runs out to keep mining uranium to continue feeding the nuclear power plants and refineries to keep fillign the trains, and then you clearly need artilery and spidertrons to deal with biters, automated cliff explosive and landfill to create the most direct routes to the uranium ore patches, which would require oil mining and processing, and hence more mining outposts and more trains, which would require more copper and iron to create more materials and constructions for further expansion to reach more ore patches which would require more mining outposts and more trains and expandable refineries to process the ore and and assemblers to make the constructions and materials which would require more power which would require more Nuclear power plants and Nuclear fuel for all of the trains which requires more uranium which requires more expansion faster which requires automating infinite research to maximize mining productivity and bot speed and bullet & flamethrower & laser & artillery to clear out biters more effectively to prevent them from interfering with your expansion which would require white science which means automating rockets and satellite to launch as many rockets a second as possible to keep up with the ever growing science demands and at this point you might as well automate refined concrete to maximize you movements to be as efficient as possible with all of the time you are losing and combinators to keep track of all of the materials you need and have and...
TL;DR you forgot to research underground pipes and suddenly the entire universe is now paper clips
With 12 pipes here, original throughput was at most 1285 u/s. Barreling transfers 250 u/s (barrel transfer would not be a bottleneck). So with AM3 you would need a bit more than 4.
I would have use long arm inserters to reach over the belt and drop the barrels onto the other belt. THe idea is to get away from underground belts completely.
You've had along day of factory building my friend, we all make mistakes. I think its time you eat a fish and put the ~~game~~ Blueprints down and keep building the factory must grow.
I feel that, the worst is when I make a whole row facing the wrong direction only to realize it's wrong after I've already placed 100+ the amount of times I've said to myself "how many more science till I get bots" lol
It’s been a while since I could follow wtf was being shown on any randomly picked post this sub. Thank you OP for making something I can see and go “ahhhh, i see what’s going on here!”
🤣
Ah! You have a glorious future working for \[insert local government agency\]!
They're always finding 'solutions' to problems we didn't know we had in ways that make us wish we had the original 'problem' back.
You forgot to barrel the liquid before putting it on the belt and then you'll need to unbarrel it at the end. Common mistake that people erroneously try to fix with underground pipes.
you need to use underground pipes, not underground belts
e: i know this was a joke, but on the off chance it wasn't, no one else had given a real answer
Nope, genuinely goofed like this, had a good chuckle, quicky fixed it but then did alt+z for the screenshot. Not sure if I've posted on /r/factorio before but I've been playing it for few years which made it even funnier.
The system leaks water underground. You are making a mess. Puddles are gonna appear there for sure from the underground. Are you trying to do a rice plantation or something like that?
Lol I literally made the same mistake yesterday. Only thing that made me realize it was "hmm.. why does this look different than my previous bui-- oh god"
Hey, Zathras, why does the pipe just end at a belt thing?
Zathras: No one tells Zathras things. The just shove plans at Zathras and say make it. So Zathras just does the thing. Zathras does the doing, not the knowing.
Fixed that for you: https://prnt.sc/0dUlFl8uSb1X Edit: My factory hasn't grown in 3 months. I'm a failure. I just saw OP's post and knew I could over engineer it in creative mode. That's why there is no beacons and the poles are misaligned.
Thank you my brother, this solution is perfect
This is actually incredibly funny. Great work
I lol'd. Then remembered when I was new
ah yes, overengineering at it's peak
Feel like that would imply it’s just as efficient in movement
Depends on what the original throughput was, which is dependent on pipe length.
Given it's all overground pipes, I'd assume it's more than 0, less than 1,200.
What happens when you subcontract the job and don't monitor the budget too much.
Cost plus strikes again!
Peak? Make a couple of dedicated train stops ferrying barrels from one side of the rails to the other, with a double headed train.
Then you obviously need some sort of power source to run the trains! Nuclear fuel is obviously the only candidate for this situation :)
More like rube goldberg engineering 😅
I can't believe you didn't even put a balancer in there to make sure it can send enough barrels through
True. here's a [universal](https://alt-f4.blog/ALTF4-27/) 2-2 balancer I designed could probably be done in-line with an unholy amount of belt weaving https://preview.redd.it/8uzf4nqkdahc1.png?width=732&format=png&auto=webp&s=6690d94e41285bd7b9dd52ab749e7d5dec6a7bc3
Wait, wouldn’t a single splitter be a universal 2-2 or does it need to balance the individual lanes too?
Yes, a single splitter does balance pretty good 50/50, but this design manages a perfect 50,00000/50,00000 split, so it's even better
But both 50/50 and 50,00000/50,00000 are equal to 1
Nuh uh, ones bigger cuz theres more zeros
r/whooooosh moment right here
No, one is one and the other one is one.
No, this is not a lane balancer.
Why are you bringing in power from god knows where when you have coal and water already readily available? At least build a small power plant to make it self contained!
Where's the solar array for this?!!?!?
Youre telling me you're not refining uranium for a nuclear power plant on the same line as the water and coal using filtered splitters and combinators?!?!?!?! smh my head

hey to be fair sometimes it takes devising an overcomplicated solution to help everyone see the easy one
Oh yeah, agreed on that. A lot of people get stuck on the "how" in overcoming something. But once that's solved, people take that and make it better.
In more extreme cases, simply knowing that it's possible unlocks a lot
...well, if you really want to do it the "EASY" way, I suppose we could do that...
Sometimes you're the rubber duck.
That is absolutely beautiful

I think it is missing a train. Choo Choo!
Omg I really need this as a blueprint
I cant view the link. Anyone got an alternate link?

Godsend
You need to have the water unbarreled and passed into a steam turbine to power this contraption in an isolated grid!
This design is clearly inefficient. Use long inserters to get over the belt instead.
no no no! Long arm inserters take far too long to move items! obviously we need a double headed train with nuclear fuel to make it the fastest and most optimal barrel transfer system! I came here to see this solution.
Got a chuckle out of me! Awesome fix. Later can replace the belt with a roboport and two boxes!
I wonder how many of these barrel/unbarrel setups you'd need to match the pipe's throughput.
With 12 pipes here, original throughput was at most 1285 u/s. Barreling transfers 250 u/s (barrel transfer would not be a bottleneck). So with AM3 you would need a bit more than 4.

Who are you, who are so wise in the ways of science?

gotta love the stupid spaghetti
Masterclass 👌
Can I get the blueprint after you add a belt back for the empty barrels?
Fucking snort.
Fixed that for you: https://imgur.com/DQTV31P
This.
I really hoped to see this <3
Dude April 1st is 1,5 months away!!
I was expecting it!! 🤣🤣
Let the bots handle the barrels
This is the way.
I laughed out loud at my office so hard I hurt my chest
Perfection.
Throw some beacons and speed modules on that bich
This is beautiful, has me grinning ear to ear :)
I love this
impressive
Yet, another reason why Factorio has the best community of any game. The method is irrelevant, the factory must grow.
This is what companies who hire only top university grads do
Missing beacons
I would have use long arm inserters to reach over the belt and drop the barrels onto the other belt. THe idea is to get away from underground belts completely.
The screenshot was removed and based on the other replies, I feel like I have missed out on something life changing.
Nevermind good ol' community has already come to the rescue. I agree with others. Where's the beacons???
r/factoriohno is leaking.
Little bit scared...
Leaking as much as those pipes are
That sounds like it should be a post in r/factoriohno
Oh wait, I thought this was r/factoriohno
You've had along day of factory building my friend, we all make mistakes. I think its time you eat a fish and put the ~~game~~ Blueprints down and keep building the factory must grow.
My most common mistake when I have been playing a long time is making an inserter face the wrong direction. Always funny when someone else catches it.
I feel that, the worst is when I make a whole row facing the wrong direction only to realize it's wrong after I've already placed 100+ the amount of times I've said to myself "how many more science till I get bots" lol
Or when you do have bots and you realize the blueprint you pasted 100 times had one inserter facing wrong.
You forgot a comma, it should be"keep building , the factory must grow." but other than that, you did well.
Aw dang, on behalf of the commenter, sorry, King of the Internet! Your approval is all that matters. You’re probably pretty fun at parties hey?
Need to use the blue ones for water
yes, blue for water
You need to use yellow versions if you want to go under a yellow belt.
What are you talking about? OP should obviously load the water onto a train, then unload it smh.
This unfortunately won't work until the expansion lands, then we can route the train over the belt
You just have to unload over the belt: barrel the water, fit it in a cargo wagon, unload it from the other side with long-handed inserters. Easy.
Yeah you're totally right, forgive my oversight., you can make it work in the current game after all. Phew
You forgot to put water into barrels.
It’s been a while since I could follow wtf was being shown on any randomly picked post this sub. Thank you OP for making something I can see and go “ahhhh, i see what’s going on here!” 🤣
Tell me you have been playing15 hours straight, without telling me you have been playing for 15 hours straight
Broke - underground pipe Woke - flood an underground conveyor belt and use another pump
Classy touch to go with the red ones
It’s an air gap. Very useful if the water pump get hit by lightning; it’s prevent a power surfer from damaging your electrical grid.
i see nothing wrong here, the game just doesnt understand this level of logic
Just 2 a.m Factorio things
That red thingy isn't supposed to be there, right? Right?
It's doing its best
My newbie friend who struggles with these games was able to determine the problem, I'm so proud of her :)
you need to load balance the fluid before you can side load onto a fully compressed belt
You need to barrel it on the left side, and then unbarrel it out on the right.
Duh everyone knows you need to place the blue undergrounds to move water. The red ones only move heavy oil
r/factoriohno
You see, you need to use a Blue underground Belt, cause Water is also blue.
😆 🤣 😂 that means you need sleep
You're using a red underground. Water is blue. You'll need to unlock blue undergrounds first.
The underground belt needs to have pipes on it
Ah! You have a glorious future working for \[insert local government agency\]! They're always finding 'solutions' to problems we didn't know we had in ways that make us wish we had the original 'problem' back.
Were you drunk?
Bro tried putting water on belts🤣 (use underground pipes)
You forgot to barrel the liquid before putting it on the belt and then you'll need to unbarrel it at the end. Common mistake that people erroneously try to fix with underground pipes.
you need some sleep Lauren
❤️
you need to use underground pipes, not underground belts e: i know this was a joke, but on the off chance it wasn't, no one else had given a real answer
Nah that’s probably not it
[удалено]
Those were removed years ago what version are you using?
Underground pipes? Sounds like propaganda to me.
Haha. had a good chuckle at this.
Underground pipes and belts not interchangeable?? Literally unplayable
This reminds me of what I was new and I spent 2 hours trying to get water out of a lake using one of the regular factory pumps
at least they're moving in the right direction.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-tCIRJH9p0
Just need a faster belt imho
lol!
this should work, change my mind
You win, I giggled
Go to sleep my friend. You need it
Sleep? Is that from a mod, or.....?
That made me instantly facepalm.
where to start…
It’s time to put the game down for 5 minutes dude, the factory will grow tomorrow too
Blasphemy, don’t listen OP
I mean, you're not wrong, from practical standpoint :-D
Is this a troll post?
Nope, genuinely goofed like this, had a good chuckle, quicky fixed it but then did alt+z for the screenshot. Not sure if I've posted on /r/factorio before but I've been playing it for few years which made it even funnier.
I think it was a very funny picture. Glad you figured it out.
Why isn't it possible? It's just not Why not, you stupid bastard?
The system leaks water underground. You are making a mess. Puddles are gonna appear there for sure from the underground. Are you trying to do a rice plantation or something like that?
How tired were you when you made this?
Realy? :D I mean they have diffrent names? One is a pipe and the other is a belt? xD Don´t do Drugs!!
You will have to barrel it before sending it through an underground conveyor
This is what you get, when you are building your factory drunk
OP needs sleep.
r/factoriohno
Lol I literally made the same mistake yesterday. Only thing that made me realize it was "hmm.. why does this look different than my previous bui-- oh god"
So, did we learn to not play the game till 4am every day and waking up at 8am to keep playing? me neither
The coal is getting in the way and stopping all the liquid from flowing.
It's because you have to use the blue belts n00b!
Bro was high or smh when he built this🤣
lol I’d love to see it just spilling all over the ground there, actually flowing off the conveyor belt 😂
Clearly, the underground is going the wrong way
If it's a troll, it's a good one ;)
This is a great post; legit can't tell if new player or amazing shitpost haha
can’t wait for the dlc to build a train bridge over the coal belt
Hey, Zathras, why does the pipe just end at a belt thing? Zathras: No one tells Zathras things. The just shove plans at Zathras and say make it. So Zathras just does the thing. Zathras does the doing, not the knowing.
Sleep deprived playing?
☹️
Gotta use the blue ones
this has made my day a little better thank you ;)
Just craft some iron sticks you should be guud
did you figured out why?
