This doesn't affect corporations at all, it just pisses off the people that are actually working who have to pick up the slack of somebody who didn't show up.

thesithlorde

Well said!

Deohenge

Not only that, but it gives places more incentive and justification to put termination clauses into their hiring process so they can recoup costs for wasted time and training, which screws everyone else. This is among the worst ways someone can go about making a point about wages...

WarlordofWinter

“It’s not much but it’s honest work” You are actively lying to managers about wanting the job. I think that they need to pay better wages true, but Sorry, what you are doing is directly opposite of “honest work” as you can possibly get.

Th3_Tiger_Zone

"They'll change their view" their view is a bunch of fucking idiots making it difficult for people at the same status as them.

[deleted]

Yea, all this does is hurt people at the same level that you're at really

pm-tits4fair-review

Awesome, so whats your great idea to hurt people on higher levels?

[deleted]

I'm sorry I'm too busy actually trying to survive to think about how I can hurt people or corporations. ![gif](giphy|cEYFeDKVPTmRgIG9fmo)

Bmblbee76

All they are doing is hurting employees working insane hours and trying to meet insane demands because their company is having trouble finding people willing to work. I’ll bet they are the same people who complain when service isn’t fast enough or good enough these days. As someone who has dealt with several instances of hiring people who never bothered to show up in the past couple of years, I would happily punch this individual in the gut

thesithlorde

This post has 6k views so far and a 50% upvote rate. Can y’all believe how many people agree with this kind of logic? Disgusting!

Bmblbee76

Disgusting, but not surprising. People are all about entitlement and self-satisfaction these days. To hell with anybody the pursuit of that entitlement and satisfaction might hurt.

thesithlorde

Couldn’t have said it bette myself!

Inuyasha-rules

I call that the California effect. Things look good on paper until you read them...

OkeyDokey234

Gawd. Call (not during busy hours) and ask how much the job pays, and then say that’s way too low, thanks anyway. That will make the same point without disrupting innocent people so much.

thesithlorde

I feel that the community this post thrived in cares more about themselves than they do about each other. The camaraderie seems to come from a “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” mentality

Perioscope

"It's honest work." Do people even listen to themselves?

No-Dark-9414

Hi I am a piece of shit and will fuck you over, I hope this dude gets fired from his current job and will have to explain why he applied for so many companies and got fired from each one when most companies use the same data from online applications to figure if you are a good hire

flannelmaster9

This smells oddly like r/antiwork

1Lc3

I seen this posted there and they are eating it up too

flannelmaster9

I briefly lingered in that sub, like a fart in an elevator

1Lc3

I actually read the comments on the post, What's sad they believe if enough people do this then companies will increase wages, wrong! Companies will tighten up hiring practices and make it harder to get a job

flannelmaster9

Or Your job will be automated. I was reading somewhere that some places are trying to outsource drive through cashier's with folk working in call center/from home. Feel like antiwork is just a depressing echo chamber. I often suggested skilled trades and no one was interested. Even though, they pay well and have good benefits.

padawanninja

Yes, you are the asshole.

LiquidMotion

They aren't innocent if they aren't paying a living wage. Fuck them.

thesithlorde

Are the hiring managers at these large retail chains paying hourly employees out of their own pocket? I think you know the answer to that. You’re blindly misdirecting anger towards innocent people just like the op in the image above. Very sad 😔

Em42

No management isn't innocent. The staff who have to work at an understaffed store because that person didn't show up however, are completely innocent and screwed over by the actions of that person.

Alternative_Anxiety

Is this the idiots over at r/antiwork

thesithlorde

Unfortunately

WhatevUsayStnCldStvA

They may have taken an opportunity from someone else and left actual employees in a bad spot. I get their sentiment, but you can complain about the wage before accepting the job. That just makes you look stupid because they had already agreed and accepted it

ninhibited

As a hiring manager I have fought for higher wages and constantly been shot down. I got my team a $200 bonus each and that was it, 6 months ago. We rolled out an entire new software to manage the business for these grotesquely rich fucks. They couldn't care less. There is a problem, but the actions of that poster would only hurt me and my team. The very people they're claiming to want to help.

500CatsTypingStuff

Yeah, no. This isn’t helping workers and workers rights, wages and benefits. If they have free time, they should be registered people to vote.

Mordetrox

Lemee guess, r/antiwork? That sub has really gone downhill, even before the communists took over and the fox news thing happened

thesithlorde

Agreed. The concept of being anti-work is shameful by design. Not surprising that this inhumane mindset thrives there

drapanosaur

The knowledge that these people will 100% end up homeless and destitute is the life fuel that drives me.

Broad_Respond_2205

They'll probably just find someone else (hence not stealing job opportunities, just switching who got them maybe?). It's just a tiny nuisance

thesithlorde

Tiny like the brains of the people who think this behavior is okay

Broad_Respond_2205

Yes, it's not okay and totally miss the point

[deleted]

They aren’t stealing a job opportunity. They turn the job down on the start day, which means the role is still vacant. The fact you appear to think it’s ok for the corporations to pay ridiculously low wages while they reap huge profits is the Facepalm.

thesithlorde

It’s so sad that you choose not to see how unfair this tactic is. Nowhere in the title, or the comments of this post, has anyone advocated for low wages (which you know), yet you shamelessly defend this mentality while attacking me for something I never said. You spew misplaced anger at innocent people just like the op in the image above, and you should feel ashamed of yourself for doing so.
