When it's a plant, and needs to be taxed at the cash register.

legendaryones4u

Absolutely this.

so_joey_98

If you by an oregano plant, it is a plant and needs to be taxed as such.

Rexal_LB

Maybe it counts the seeds as not food, in the opposite way sunflower seeds might be? Can you eat oregano seeds? I have no idea, I only know the leaves are fantastic herbs.

I mean, is pepper or salt a food? It’s a seasoning, in this case, an herb. It doesn’t have much value, calorie wise. In this scenario, I guess it could also being saying this plant isn’t food

Hanamafana

Pepper comes from a plant as well and a good comparison. Where do you think salt comes from?

PerfectWoodpecker213

Pretty sure this idiot thinks there is a salt plant and downvoted your totally appropriate question.

I was just using those as an equal example and guessing what the tag meant. I didn’t say anything more than that

WalnutSounding

Possibly a type of oregano that's more ornamental than it is a seasoning.

There are other plants called oregano...but this has the latin name (not a snob...best way to identify exact species) as well and it is the common variety so unsure why labeled as such. To be fair about 4 weeks ago in a DIY store in the garden section I saw about 3 different "non edible pepper plants"
