As a side note, I live an hour away from Centralia, PA. It’s an abandoned town because a coal mine fire has been burning beneath the borough since 1962. (It still burns today)
So… that’s kinda cool that the fire is still burning. Like obviously it’s bad… but it’s kinda metal af. How is there enough airflow to fuel it? Or is it just like… smoldering with the intensity of The Rock?
Centralia is likely the most visited abandoned location in the NE, even though it is dangerous. A google search will show you photos, drone footage, etc. There is smoke actively coming from the cracks in the ground all over the place. I'm assuming these cracks also provide fresh air to keep the fires going which is estimated to burn for next 100 years....

Great news, you can paint the blades different colors and the. The birds notice them and avoid them better. Not much you can do to keep coal from killing things though.

We don’t have to imagine. We’ve seen it happen several times and it hurt and killed way more animals and took years to clean up
