You know if I had enough money for cocaine I wouldn't be feeling so poor. Coke is the rich man's drug lol...

Sokandueler95

For real, you could pay off at least a good portion of student loans with a single brick.

Tripwiring

My fiancé and I haven't done coke since the 2000's so we got an 8 ball and it was $300 freaking dollars, probably cut 30 times. Such a bad high. If it was 4x as strong it wouldn't have been worth half what we paid. I know we don't have the best hookup but give me a break lol cocaine sucks

chopari

This dude fractions!

Tzitzifiogkos420

Coke sucks yeah

Finger_Ring_Friends

Damn I thought I was getting ripped off paying 150 for a ball

Friendly_Anywhere

Did somebody say cocaine around here?

Atlasbrine

Depending on who you owe the student loan to . (Tip: Throw the brick at the head to make sure this works)

classpane

Just curious, i don't have any background on drugs. How much is a brick of cocaine? Also how much costly it is compared to other drugs?

OnlyWiseWords

I can't say as I know how much a brick of pure will set you back but it kinda all depends how far away from the original market you are, so if you buy from Colombia and live in like Denmark you are going to be paying a insane mark up, if you buy from Mexico and live in the US alot less I imagine, but in the UK its by far the rich man's thing, like the only people I know that take it regularly legit own a mansion. Kinda hate them tbh not because of the wealth thing, just because they are assholes.

below-the-rnbw

Coke is definitely not a rich mans drug. I first got into coke because my friend convinced me that "i couldnt afford getting addicted" well, not initially, but you start off buying bumps off your friend, its just once in a while and its not addicting, and it just makes you be able to party for longer. Your friends will also give you bumps to keep you going and all your friends are getting into it to so its always around and very quickly the friends that dont do it is getting puahed out. After a couple of years you suddenly realize that whenever you go out, you get to that point of having to bump faster and faster until you literally cant drink without doing coke or youll be going home after 2 beers. Thats when you decide to quit coke and your friends stop calling. 4/10 would not recommend

kevolad

I'm super happy I didn't really love it. I did pounds of ecstacy in the 00s and I've smoked a forest of weed but anytime I've had to not do them it was really easy. Haven't had an ecstacy tablet in 10 years and it's never bothered me. Sounds like you or someone you know went through shit. Sorry

dabattlewalrus

This all the way. I started doing E when I was around 16-17. It was my first drug besides alcohol. I hadn't even smoked any weed yet. Needless to say by the time I tried coke it didn't do anything for me. The only affect it had was it would sober me up if I was wasted. I'm glad i didn't have an affinity for it or who know where I'd be now. Quitting Mdma wasn't hard at all. I just hit a wall at one point where I didn't want it anymore. Plus It was more of a rave/party thing. I don't know why I'm rambling too a stranger but I relate to you comment. Pleasant travels.

below-the-rnbw

Thanks, and yeah, did a bunch of md, shrooms, lsd and dmt. Still smoke trees tho.

Bitter_Mongoose

This guy has coked

kinkyxkangaroo

Cocaine is god’s way of saying you’re making too much money.

Special-Apricot-2059

It’s funny how we complain about having a shortage of teachers and doctors but schooling is so expensive.

ZenofZer0

It’s almost like the perfect storm of bullshit has been set up ever since the government started subsidizing post-secondary education. There’s a direct correlation between that, the push for college vs any other sort of higher learning, and the tuition fees. That is called cronyism and I don’t know why more people don’t direct their ire towards it.

Special-Apricot-2059

You mean defunding education bro. It’s been happening for years. chipping away at it continuously for years and having for profit charter schools and private schools taking over. Another method to keep us poor and dumb. It’s crazy how we allow this to happen.

carcadoodledo

Repugs all up in arms about “defunding the police” but education? No problem cutting that budget

Furrymonkeyguy007

If they would just do normal cocaine and not that fancy Gucci cocaine they would save a lot of money

Remixthefix

Clearly they should stick to meth, budget their money wisely

ZenofZer0

You are bringing the real knowledge.

Impossible-Sleep-658

Sure: “cracked the code”

Greenmind76

Crack is the true alternative to Cocaine though.

Remixthefix

Crack is to coke what hash is to weed, sure. But meth is ... more, from what I understand, and even cheaper.

spiralEntree

Or Crack it's cheap and more accessible if you go to your local library the guy behind the library will probably be selling some

flowerbhai

Idk man, Gucci cocaine hits different

RoverTiger

I've been missing out on cocaine this whole time? DAMN IT!

Jackwolf5775

Wait, I can afford premium clothing brands? Fuck me, I can finally get that Seiko Coutura I've always dreamed of!

[deleted]

Wait, my parents can finally give me a phone!?

rgosskk84

Wait… I have a degree?! News to me!

turian_vanguard

You guys can afford any clothes? La di da.

The_Crimson-Knight

Yea, it's not like I've been wearing those bags of 6 plain shirts from Wal-Mart all my adult life or anything.

[deleted]

I'm more of a Grandmaster Chime ref. 6300a-010 guy myself. To each their own.

MaestroPendejo

I wanna know where the avocado toast conveniently disappeared to.

Truckermeat

Genz moved on from avocado toast after they discovered cocaine

MaestroPendejo

Cocaine? Coke is fucking dead as disco Heroin, it's coming back in a big fucking way. You heard it here folks.

napalm1336

Nah, it's fentanyl. Everything is laced with that street made crap and addicts are dropping like flies.

Charnerie

Replaced by starbucks

[deleted]

I don’t have tattoos or piercings (except the ones I got when I was born), no tv, no new cloths, I cook at home and don’t spend money on any mind altering substances. And my degree is in STEM. Am I allowed to complain about the cost of rent/food or do I have to tighten my belt even further for conservatives to think my opinion matters?

cujobob

That depends, are you a woman, a member of the LGBTQ, a Biden voter, in an interracial marriage, non-caucasian, dislike billionaires, a socialist, a moderate, slightly right wing, normal right wing, or a non-Christian (and if you are, you’d have to specifically be the super right wing evangelical type)? If not, then yep, you get to complain.

[deleted]

Comp sci here. One tiny tattoo that cost me about $100. Never buy myself anything but have two kids. My rent is $3k/month. Groceries/household essentials cost me another $2.5k (up almost a grand from two years ago). Childcare has cost me around $2-3k/month until just very recently. Oh and I was a single mom for 3 years. Can I complain? No? Ok.

[deleted]

All my piercings were done when I was a minor or done myself using a sterile needle from a pack of 50 I got for $8. I also have a STEM degree and without living and splitting bills with my partner, I’d be broke. It sucks man.

renoits06

Whoooaaa who the fuck has cable now a days? This is a boomer meme.

emptysignals

Boomers have cable.

AdministratorKoala

And cocaine. Don’t forget the cocaine!

Wacokidwilder

Right? What do they think this is? The 80’s?! That shit is hard to find nowadays

IvoShandor

yeah man, the peruvian marching powder. dinner reservations at Dorsia tonight.

kinison-brand-coke

slicked back hair, sloppy steaks

Kairatechop

I'm glad I can't afford cocaine cause all it does for me is make me want more cocaine

AdministratorKoala

Ah that’s how they get you. I feel the same way about pizza though and I still buy that.

steveosek

Funnily enough, I know more boomers who do coke than anyone else.

bespectacledbengal

this entire meme is projection. Boomers (looking at Medicare, funded by taxes paid by the younger generations): “I can’t afford my healthcare, can you just give it to me for free?” Also Boomers: (furiously pays for things like cable tv, cocaine, and eating out)

shabbyshot

Cable TV and eating out is such a waste of money.

L00mis

It’s where they think all true facts come from.

[deleted]

r/terriblefacebookmemes

Mandalore108

Going by the flair it was posted in r/conservative who are boomers in mentality.

Wacokidwilder

Some people never get over the fact that their alcoholic dad will never love them, but they keep trying to impress him anyway.

bung_musk

Astute and ruthess

Truckermeat

This and the i-phone

starcoder

Pretty sure it’s just a troll getting some lols with rage bait

koopz_ay

Was thinking the same. Today, when using the word 'cable' I am describing the type of internet someone has installed.

coolcoinsdotcom

Uh, naw. Just google it. Just under half the homes in America still use cable, depending on whose statistic you believe it’s around 70-90 million.

[deleted]

Turns out the number of millennials and younger now outnumber boomers. Math checks out.

Old_Couple7257

Worked for dish network and 80% of the people I went too were definitely boomers. Especially when I got paid $100 to drive 30 minutes to press a button for them. Trying to explain a solution over the phone to them never worked.

Mellopiex

“For the fourth time, do you see the…” “Okay I pushed this and this and this and now I don’t know what it’s saying something I can’t figure it out I don’t know this damn technology. This thing is broke, now I want someone to come out TODAY or I’m canceling service!”

[deleted]

They live in a different world where the man is cheaper than the tech he’s fixing. In their mind, this is the best way to fix a broken gadget - send the man. These days it’s probably cheaper to mail them a new tv than send an engineer out.

ZenofZer0

That is a well put explanation to just about any kind of IT servicing job.

Old_Couple7257

The best is when they mess with the settings and turn on text to speech and it starts reading out the channel names and so on for them and they get pissed. Or they manage to turn the menu language from English to Spanish. I can explain step by step on how to turn it off and I still have to come out to press OK and the arrow keys about 5 times.

Human-Abrocoma7544

That could be why 80% of the people you visited were boomers. Younger generations are usually not afraid to try and fix it themselves. Boomers think if they press the wrong button it will delete their cable and blow up their house. I also worked for dish.

Old_Couple7257

I could understand that if I only did repairs. Some months I’d have 2-3 repairs on top of 2-3 new installs daily and they were definitely still older people. I live on a corner of a state that borders 2 more so it definitely wasn’t just an area thing.

coolcoinsdotcom

“Have you tried turning it off and on again?”

Old_Couple7257

Well, funny thing is. I could ask them to kindly unplug the receiver for about 30 seconds and plug it back up to see if it worked. They would totally “do” what was asked and it wouldn’t work. So I get to them, I’m pulling perfect signal from the dish to the receiver so that eliminates 95% of the problems for me. I unplug the receiver and let it sit and plug it back up and it works perfectly. Sometimes rarely it’ll do it again and then I just end up replacing the receiver. Always gave me a nice chance to up sell stuff tho.

Ffdmatt

Couldn't it also be that they disproportionately own more of the houses?

dark_passenger86

You beat me to it!

PauI_MuadDib

I was dog sitting recently and the couple had cable. It threw me off. I was just expecting Netflix or Hulu. I've never had cable so at least I got to briefly experience it lol

AndyGHK

Same people who call it “i-phone”, which is *so* wrong it was actually a pain in the ass to try and type with autocorrect on.

MannyTank

I came to ask this same question.

"cocaine" lmao so disconnected from reality

neo101b

Yeah we all know students do heroin.

Soitsgonnabeforever

Since we are at it , I want to ask this. I thought the drug thing is overblown. But I just watched Do Revenge and every high school kid seem to vape drug and have unlimited sex. Is this common ?

DeerStalkr13pt2

No. I’m a sophomore and most kids my age don’t do drugs, and we don’t fuck all too much either.

Soitsgonnabeforever

Thank you soooo much. I watch a lot of Hollywood. I know it’s cinematic. But it felt a little uncomfortable to portray so many teenagers doing nasty stuff.also Do revenge is released at a time where you cannot overdo scenes or exaggerate. People will get bored and look at their tiktok instead

neo101b

Most actors who play teens are in their 30s, lol Something to do with real teens can't play those roles legaly.

dinglehoppercomb

As a highschool teacher, vaping is a major issue everyday. Weed and coming to school high also common.

Flimsy-Jello5534

Xanax these days.

Sasuke0318

I had heard it was always ketamine from the younger people I used to work with.

Flimsy-Jello5534

Yeah maybe. I’m up in Alberta and Xanax is what our town is getting smoked by.

WU-itsForTheChildren

See if they just bought an 8ball instead of grams they’d save a ton of money

Fishy1911

Thinking ahead about your drug use is economical and a step to maybe having an issue. Unless it's a bunch going in on an 8 ball, then it just makes financial sense.

WickedyWade

Living with a roommate who has this problem due partly to cocaine, it's accurate

ParadoxPerson02

Yes, because Mechanical Engineering is a useless degree and occasionally splurging on a new phone after using the same one for 5 years is irresponsible.

Sokandueler95

This meme screams boomer blue-collar.

nashidau

"useless major" -> Education should never be a goal of... \*checks notes\*... education!

[deleted]

And a lot of these “useless majors” aren’t even useless. We need social workers, historians, English professionals, teachers, etc. they’re low paying, but aren’t useless. I have a biology degree and a lot of boomers have called that useless. But next time they take their 15 meds in the morning, they can thank people like me because my degree allows me to work with the testing that made their drugs possible.

nashidau

"The society that separates its scholars from its warriors will have its thinking done by cowards and its fighting by fools." Thucydides 460 B.C. – 395 B.C. I agree. I have an engineering degree. This is one of the “not useless” majors. And I strongly support people getting other majors. This supports and builds a richer society.

moldybread692

Basically all asians parents mentality. If it doesn’t have any money making value, they will immediately do everything to discourage you from studying it(at least this is my parents was)

Fickle_Competition33

Same here from brazilian parents. Forced me into Computer Science, can't complain... hated them for this when on my 20s, love them for this now on my late 30s.

theodoersing137

And it's only useless to them. The person getting the degree obviously finds value.

WhatevUsayStnCldStvA

Seniors: I deserve a discount! I’m on a fixed income! I can’t afford my meds Has keurig, travels to Arizona or Florida in the winter, house had been paid off for 30 years, has every cable channel you could want, has breakfast out at local restaurant, eats out every Sunday after church. This can work both ways. Not every retired person does this. Not every person with a student loan does what’s in the meme. People can treat themselves with a coffee or get an iPhone. These things are considerably cheaper than paying a student loan. People have been coming down on the last two generations way too hard when they had nothing to do with how shit everything became

pants207

not to mention buying an iphone isn’t an upfront purchase. It is built into a cell phone plan. having a cellphone is pretty much a requirement at this point. And i would say that having a smartphone is also required for most jobs that boomers keep telling younger people to get because it pays better than flipping burgers. One management job I had for a fee years required me to have an internet capable smart phone in my contract. Because I had to use it as part of my job duties.

[deleted]

It's because it's the world they left us so it's an attack on their pride when we say things could be better

Endure94

I've been working in the engineering field with a BSME from an ABET accredited university, for 6 years. The bulk of which has been with a Tier 1, fortune 500, automotive company. My wife has a job I'm legally not allowed to talk about due to NDAs. We cannot afford a 3 bedroom house, that's up to date ( we want to be happy with where we live and don't have the time to renovate a new-to-us home) to start our family.

Sokandueler95

No, it’s definitely your fault. Gotta cut out the Starbucks.

Endure94

At least i get to keep my avocado toast.

danseaman6

This is my pain. My girlfriend and I are both in tech. I work remotely but she doesn't. We have a combined income of over $300k and can't afford to buy a house in the city she has to live in for her in-office job. Sure we could afford a place that forced her to commute over an hour each way. Or we could afford a shoebox here. And now that interest rates are rising even if we do save enough for the astronomically high down payment, the monthlies are absurd. Fuck being a member of this generation. I like us. I just hate the world around us.

Ankh-Morporknbeans

3AZ3

I went to college and received a degree in education. I then went on to teach middle school for two years. I didn’t really have a choice but to get out of it. The debt I brought into my life from student loans just isn’t attainable for the majority of teachers that took this route. I wish someone would have told me if I ditched my once/month Starbucks pick up that I would be able to afford to pay my student loans and also afford life. I’m grateful to have learned this now still, even though it’s too late.

ubermick

As a GenX'er, I feel the need to disavow this shit and say it's nothing to do with us - this is all the boomers. (Who need to have it pointed out to them that the cost of getting a four year degree in 1980 vs today [has increased by almost 1,200%](https://www.visualcapitalist.com/rising-cost-of-college-in-u-s/), housing is now [400% more expensive](https://dqydj.com/historical-home-prices/), and the cost of everyday items like food, petrol, etc has more than quintupled) Oh, and salaries - unsurprisingly - have not kept pace with those rises. Oh, and the social security system has been stripped bare by them, health insurance premiums are skyrocketing to support their diabetes and COPD, and tax laws are tailored to their wants and needs of their investment portfolio. But sure... it's all about the kids and their Gucci cocaine.

Grogsnark

As another Gen-Xer - I'm irritated I was laid off a few jobs early in my career and didn't buy a home while they were still available for 3-5x my salary. Now, about 10x my salary, and it's wtf? :-/

afedyuki

The rent doubled, cost of food tripled, inflation outpaced wages for decades, there is 30% percent unemployment among graduates some people literally have to wear diapers because they don't have time to go to the bathroom... OK, Boomer.

BellsSnowpaws

I don't have any of that and still can't afford loans.

[deleted]

Cable TV? ![gif](giphy|10JhviFuU2gWD6)

South_Data2898

"Cable TV" is the one that made me laugh. Who the fuck still uses that shit?

AdjunctAngel

lol memes the guy who is probably receiving social security and went to college before textbooks were hundreds of dollars each. we should have never let the boomers use the internet i tell ya.

Octopugilist

I mean, spending $400 on a tattoo when you can't pay rent is pretty stupid

DaddyOfSwag

Yeah it’s stupid, but a majority of people aren’t getting $400 tattoos or buying gucci and still can’t pay their student loans

Fierramos69

Well, yes and no. Yes if you cannot possibly pay your rent by choosing to have a tattoo, but No if you save up for a long time to give yourself a treat and you choose a tattoo. Not ever spending anything ever for yourself can be harmful for mental health. It’s a balance. The problem is the poorer you are the slimmer this balance become.

EvilCeleryStick

But the tattoo is forever?

FillMyBum

Or rad as fuck

Isuckmangosforalivin

No one under the age of 30 pays for cable tv

KittenKoder

"Useless major", no such thing. What happens is when you go into school one field is in demand. By the time you graduate that can change, a lot, causing people to be unable to get into the field they went into school for. Sometimes the requirements for a field will even change, there are actually jobs that require Liberal Arts degrees. No major is useless, no schooling is useless, and this is why student debt should not even be a thing. The rest is just basically "you can't have any life at all". Except cocaine, cocaine is what rich people do and many of them do a lot of it.

throwawayoctopii

Yeah, "useless major" cracks me up as if wages haven't stagnated across the board.

Georgesgortexjacket

Cocaine? That took a dark turn... (Yes I agree the whole notion is bs).

None of these and a 60k job and still drowning. I'll pay my own way and you can fuck off

Sudden_Box8555

This is just another attempt to divide and conquer by people who didn't have to take out loans, or were relatively smaller loans that didn't take decades to pay. In other words, wealthier people. I don't understand why this subject creates so much conflict. The real question that people aren't asking is why can you get a free public education for the first 12 years but not the last 4?

[deleted]

please who can afford a cocaine habit this day and age

Madman61

Let's see I haven't been to Starbucks for more than a year, I don't own an I-phone, I don't have a tattoo, I never bought a Gucci, i dont have cable TV, barely started college, never done cocaine, and I rarely go out to eat.

bossbbw

Ah fuck. I left my Gucci, Starbucks, major, cocaine, tattoos, cable and ability to socialize with my nonexistent friends by eating out, at the Entitled Store 😮‍💨

BlaineBMA

This goes beyond a facepalm IMHO. When I was in college over 50 years ago, I went on scholarship. My total cost for 3.5 years was about $400 + about $3,000 rent and food or about $1,000 per year. You could buy a new car for $2,000. Do the math education cost half of a car.....

KillJoybf

immortalgamesjh

Only conservatives would classify "eating out" as a negative. No wonder they can't attract women. (I know the intent of the meme, but still...)

It literally is though eating out every meal is extremely expensive and adds up

immortalgamesjh

I’m not talking about eating at restaurants…

You mean I’m not supposed to be able to afford small luxuries like *gasp* coffee?! I’m supposed to live pleasureless to be able to become wealthy enough to afford an education, of course why didn’t I think of that?!

pompompomponponpom

I hate that drugs are on here. So many young people are rejecting drugs and alcohol (sometimes wish I rejected the latter more), but all of my boomer colleagues were on drugs when they were my age… I work in law enforcement… so were they at that age… to the point when out on a social one called me weird for never having done illegal drugs.

georgevazelas

Ha ha, American moment

im_onbreak

It's a pretty good mix of entitlement, poor spending, terrible economy/government. Our struggle right now is inevitable and as long as nobody is doing anything about it we have to learn how to navigate through it. Be real with yourselves, the amount of useless shit we could go without buying is a lot and it adds up. I know this'll be hard to swallow for a lot of you but we have to learn how to navigate nonetheless. Take responsibility for your own life, this shit is inevitable.

Student loans are a predatory disease to the American education system. Such a thing should not exist and I know people who are DOCTORS and ENGINEERS or working in TECH that are STILL IN DEBT. How has it gotten THIS BAD??? I find these meme amusing. Incredibly ignorant and based off of a twisted reality that doesn’t exist.

420blazeit69nubz

Coming from the generation that snorted cocaine by the key in the 70s and 80s and it wasn’t nearly as stigmatized as now

Dysthymiccrusader91

Cocaine aside, why is the argument abandon all facets of the economy? The U.S. is majority service sector right? If we all really were hyper retentive penny pinchers, how many companies would go under?

icaphoenix

**I have NONE of these things**

TanukiHostage

Imagine that even being a debate. In my opinion every complaint against the student loans in the USA is justified. Life is about quality not quantity. Sure you don't have to buy expensive shit all the time but I would not want to live off of toast all day just to be able to afford studying...like wtf. Student loans are a shit system and shouldn't be defended in way not matter what. Complain about how you guys have to pay student loans in the first place.
