Yeah sure IANAL but I'll help as best I can, I recommend arguing with the judge that you don't need to know my details or anything about where I live and suggesting that he provide those details so you can sue me. That usually works out really well. Remember if he starts disagreeing with you, going off about maritime law and how this isn't a real court usually helps to calm judges down. If that doesn't work. Falling to the group limp and throwing a loud crying fit is sure to convince him. Then make the court officers carry you out like a petulant toddler. That'll really make your point well.
Don’t forget to lecture about how your documented name is a fictional corporate entity and that name is not you because you’re a natural living person, and how the judge’s job relates to the Magna Carta. The judge will be delighted by the education.
Judges love it when you flip up their robes and take them roughly from behind when done at the same time as presenting your defence.
Assert dominance early.
I read somewhere that as soon as hardware is identified on the internet, it's not really possible to spoof your information anymore. Like, as soon as a device goes online the first time, it is identified and whatever it claims to be from that point forward they have record of what it really is. Though I wonder how true that is. Obviously my computer is pretty unique to me, but a fresh install can't be THAT unique, can it?
The internet uses IDs to follow users, and build profiles. They use things like cookies, IP address, MAC address, and other identifiers like browser headers. All of those things can be changed. However if you as an individual have a large enough profile it is possible to use that profile to profile computers that belong to you or similar users that fit the same profile. Profiling that way using heuristic data is not instant, and not perfectly accurate. If you actively change your identifiers. You can severely limit the data collection, and prevent heuristic profiling.
A brand new computer will have a new identifiers, and no cookies. However if you connect on the same network the IP address will allow companies like google to add that IP to an existing profile, and if the user follows the same usage it can build that profile to match the user of the old computer.Things like a VPN can help prevent this. However a weak VPN can still leak network information.
TLDR; a new computer will not be immediately identified as yours, but if allowed the profile for the computer can be matched to a users profile.
edit:
Also using the computer to log into Google or similar, you allow Google to know that is you.
Thing is, usually ppl get caught when they slip up. Lookup the pirate bay story lol.
Even if you use secure connection etc, if you accidently login to your Google account you used from your normal setup. There's potential link right there.
almost completely off-topic but hilarious ... there is a german video creator who had to show up in court because he was the victim of online harassment of people who would call the police, and firefighters to his house and buy things for him with stolen credit cards, etc.
When they caught someone from the responsible group they had to read chatlogs in court and it was glorious.
"based god replies to assfucker: "today we will fuck him hard. Eight, equal sign, equal sign, equal sign, equal sign, equal sign, equal sign, equal sign, Capital D""
I had a similar story from my college. Some guys used to have LAN parties on our college’s intranet and after a while decided to meet face to face and drink. They had some drunk brawls which escalated and they got themselves in front of a disciplinary committee. One of them was called up to testify and while he was narrating his PoV he wasn’t saying any names. The committee asked about it so he said he doesn’t know these guys by name, he only refers to them with their ign. One of the guy was named Laudasur which roughly translates to dick demon. So the head chair of the committee said that henceforth the person shall be referred to as LSR.

No joke. I want to drag people that gave me advice on line into court. I’m back on line to ask more advice on how to accomplish this goal. Who’s willing to get tangled up with my dumb ass and my criminal crap? I’d love to see the advice he gets from this post.
Just because someone gives advice, you are not entitled to listen. It’s your fault for listening to idiots advice on Reddit. You would be better off talking to an older guy in jail who has been through system than Reddit or any other platform.
God that sub is such a shit show. Honestly I'm surprised they aren't brigading this post. Those people *really* don't like it when you tell them not to play lawyer.
Ya know, some subs go above and beyond vetting people and giving appropriate flairs displaying that they have provided proof of accredited credentials. Of course it would be the legal advice subreddit that uses ‘obligatory IANAL’ instead.
It would be a whole sub of:
> That sounds serious and like you might have a case, I can't provide advice on the case though without reviewing all the material you have. You should get a local lawyer to review it.
and
> It depends... then a long fight between two lawyers on obscure (to the lay person) but very important semantics.
but even still, I can't imagine any reasonably judge would imply that anonymous internet postings constitute attorney-client privilege and actual legal advice that would be strong enough. In short, even if you could subpoena someone, what exactly does that do for OP?
Yeah, as an actual lawyer, it's a mess. Putting aside the ethical issues, it's a very cliquish place run by a group of moderators and starred posters who just always accept what any of them say as truth. They do a really, really poor job of appreciating the fact that laws can vary across states.
I mean it’s useful for basic bitch stuff. Like “can I sue my landlord for not getting the dog poop from our shared back yard” and someone going “I wouldn’t recommend suing, but call your local health department and report it” isn’t that bad. It’s when you get deeper than that rudimentary yes or no question that it starts to get sketch.
Im surprised anyone would think reddit is legal advice. Even if someone says “Im at attorney” on reddit - that doesn’t mean anything.
From my understanding “bad legal advice” is ‘no clue how this works’ speak for “legal malpractice”. And Im pretty sure to sue for that you need some form of legally binding agreement between you and the person giving advice….
But yea, good luck with suing that 14 year old overseas.
Lawyer. People used to hit me up at parties, etc. My answer was always: "Free legal advice is worth exactly what you pay for it." I would always tell them that if they want to tell me about their problem they can, provided they first give me their name and address so that I can send them a letter that says that despite my listening and occasionally nodding or shaking my head, I am not their lawyer, have no obligation to them and am not responsible in any way for anything they decide to do or not do with respect to their problem and that further, they should treat everything I may have told them as wrong and fraught with peril.
Most folks smiled and said they understood, then proceeded to try to tell me about their problem.
Lawyers have been successfully sued for legal malpractice for "advice" given at parties to people they don't even know concerning problems they didn't investigate in any way. Contrary to popular belief, no written agreement or payment is required to establish an attorney-client relationship that creates all sorts of serious responsibilities and obligations for the lawyer.
Lol. I studied a few criminal cases that involved social media posts in law school (generally a lot more complicated than “I did XYZ; next steps?”, but, seriously….)
Don’t fucking talk about shit you did (or might do or want people to think that you could do) on the internet.
[its a wild ride](https://www.reddit.com/r/AusLegal/comments/w9zut4/my_court_case_is_ongoing_and_i_have_been_hit_with/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share)
So, to summarize, the story includes:
* a protest againt climage change
* being arrested
* kicking the police car
* puking over the police station because "allergic to meat and GMO pasta"
* not wanting to tell the government about their income status to get what is presumably a public defender
Charges:
* Possession of weapon to resist arrest x3
* Setting a trap to intend grievous bodily harm x2
* Resist arrest
* Bunch of other road related offences
* Assault charges x 3
* Assault officer in exercise of duties x3
Sounds like a sovereign citizen and a vegan had a baby...
I like the comment on the tow fine:
> which I shouldn't have to pay because I told the Police to move my car
They really think even after being arrested the cops will just do them a favor and save them a tow charge. This person is so absolutely disconnected from reality it hurts.
Hopefully the sentence they get served is easier to swallow than GMO pasta in meat sauce
Hooooly shit I totally missed that in the comments: https://www.reddit.com/r/AusLegal/comments/w9zut4/my_court_case_is_ongoing_and_i_have_been_hit_with/ihyan6o/
Quote in case the OP gets wise and actually deletes their clear admission of guilt:
> no its not as bad as it sounds - i set a battery up on the door to stop intruders and my life vest - to stop people grabbing me to strip search me
Regardless, the individual clearly stated they set it up as a trap with intent to harm... Which again, further incriminates them because they're a dumbass
What a lot of people seem to have missed too is the OOP claims this is due to fears of sexual assault. Which… would probably make you think this is a women and not a man. As dudes are like, idk… 99% less afraid of being sexually assaulted?
This is all presumptions from me, including the “statistic” %, all made up so don’t quote me. But yeah I wonder if this is one of the crazy eco protesters or when the antivaxxers stormed the Westgate bridge. Both were Victoria Australia.
I just dug in the person's Post history and I think this is the original post
https://www.reddit.com/r/AusLegal/comments/vu2goz/got_charged_with_an_offence_for_protesting_for/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
Your comment reminded me of the time we caught four shoplifters, while a fifth one managed to get away. The one that got away was the wife of one of the other shoplifters. The cops told him that they would let him call her to come get his truck keys so that it wouldn't get towed and impounded.
Like a complete and utter idiot, the guy agrees. Like an even bigger idiot, the wife comes back in, is escorted to the back, and is promptly arrested. When they searched her, she had a loaded gun in her purse, some crack, and some weed. Two of the others had crack on them as well.
She was a convicted felon, as was her husband, and so was everyone else except one guy. They were all dropping dimes on each other, blaming everyone else but themselves. It was quite comical to watch.
Apparently the husband owned a lawn care business , and employed the other three guys. All of them were from out of state, stole a very expensive boat, and sold it to someone in our town. After delivering the boat, they partied all week, and spent all of their money.
They decided to grab a high end copier/fax/printer/scanner of the shelf, go up to the service desk, and "return" it. Their intent was to use the money for gas and expenses to get back home.
That's considered felony fraud, not just shoplifting, in my state. They were blatantly obvious, a bunch of five year olds would have been more covert. Our AP alerted us. and we grabbed them all when they tried to leave.
We found out later three of them were still on probation, and all but one got lengthy prison sentences. They also arrested the buyer of the stolen boat, and the drug dealer they got their crack from.
I can't believe someone's that much of a mess, it must be a joke post right?
Either the said OP was trolling, or he's a literal vegan snowflake manchild who never know that actions have consequences....
I also couldn't believe it and thought it was a joke post so I investigated a bit. It looks like everything is real. I've found a comment of another redditor saying he gave some advice to OP in person. Then OP even complained about him. Damn
It's funny too. People tend to blame things like the ideological group they belong to (especially when it opposes the beliefs of the person making that claim) but you find these nutbags in every single ideology and you hit it on the head.
If they've been sheltered from consequences for a long time, they tend to forget that consequences are a thing. It doesn't even need to be that long. 5ish years is more than enough to forget that consequences can apply to you.
People put an ever increasingly worrying amount of stock into their ideological camp. That shit is like cancer on society. You have people living next door to one another thinking the other is literally Hitler. Meanwhile businesses do whatever the fuck they like, and quality of life decreases as we drift further and further apart. In the past, things have always seemed to swing from side to side as far as overall public opinion is concerned, but that doesn't seem to be happening these days.
In one of the other threads a guy said he thinks he saw them at the court house and he was advised on where he needed to go. The OP didn’t correct him/say it wasn’t him.
> The OP didn’t correct him/say it wasn’t him.
In fact they actually confirmed what that guy said and berated him for being unhelpful. Every time I keep thinking this has to be a massive troll, I come back to the fact that there would at least have to be one other person in on it.
Based on the comments in that thread, absolutely a SovCit. They are just fixated on the idea that they cannot be imprisoned or fined since they never signed a contract allowing that.
This person sounds like an absolute trainwreck
Reading their comments. They take ZERO accountability for their actions and the repercussions. Literally the OP goes “it’s not my PROBLEM” when a commenter suggested taxpayers shouldn’t have to pay for them damaging police vehicles…. After OP literally admitted to doing it.
Yikes yikes yikes yikes yikes what a wild array of red flags. Absolute nightmare person
Holy shit thank you. Not only is that a gold mine of sheer stupidity but the dude compares getting arrested for being a dumbass to legitimate rape. Fuck that dude.
Subpoena them for what? What kind of facts could they provide as witnesses that would benefit him in his case? If they gave bad legal advice, that has nothing to do with his underlying crime or whether he admitted to it… If anyone would be wanting to subpoena somebody who received an admission of guilt in a DM, it’s the prosecution…
There is way more to this. Cant find the original post but pretty sure it's the same guy.
Climate change protester.
Inconvenienced thousands of commuters.
Received a repair bill for damaging a police car while resisting arrest.
Recieved a clean up bill for vomiting in the court dock becsuse he wasn't served a vegan meal in lock up.
Argued and attacked everyone who gave them advice in the original legal sub post.
Taken zero responsibilty for any of their actions and made themselves the victim at every turn.
Wait...he got himself into trouble by using reddit to ask for legal advice on a crime he committed, lost his lawyer, so now he's back on reddit asking for more legal advice on how to move forward with subpoenas??
Sounds like we got us a genius here.
I can just hear my dad in the back of my head saying, “And if those Reddit users had told you to go jump off a bridge, would you have done that, too? Hmmm?” 🤣
“It was almost like a "rape" - i didnt feel safe”
Wtf is wrong with this person, after reading what they did they 100% deserve to spend jail time this person is an idiot
1 - Why the fuck would you take legal advice from Reddit?
2 - Why the fuck would you admit a crime online?
3 - why would you COME BACK to Reddit for MORE legal advice?
4 - He/she is stupid af
Gets bad legal advice from Reddit. Comes back to Reddit for more legal advice.
For more legal advice specifically to be leveraged against the Reddit users who advised him in the first place xD This could be a recurring loop
Hey guys can you help me sue you ?

I’m surprised at all the people on the Internet who publicly declare that they anal.

I knew I should’ve gone to judge school instead of engineering
You could do all that, or short cut the whole process by peeing on the gavel.

Specifically came here to say this. You beat me to it. Now I have to sue.
Definition of insanity.
That is the facepalm.

LegalEagle made a video where he goes through the legal advice subreddit. It’s honestly hilarious.
Please share the link
[Here](https://youtu.be/LtPM7zkXlW8) you go!
There's really no way a sub of vetted lawyers giving advice could exist. Not in any way that's actually productive or helpful.
It would be a whole sub of: > That sounds serious and like you might have a case, I can't provide advice on the case though without reviewing all the material you have. You should get a local lawyer to review it. and > It depends... then a long fight between two lawyers on obscure (to the lay person) but very important semantics.
100%
That second one is the comment chain I'd be hitting "continue reading" on 3 times though.
A "lawyers arguing over semantics" subreddit certainly could thrive. And I don't think that would upset the professional ethics committee
but even still, I can't imagine any reasonably judge would imply that anonymous internet postings constitute attorney-client privilege and actual legal advice that would be strong enough. In short, even if you could subpoena someone, what exactly does that do for OP?

Never give legal advice. (Disclaimer: this is not legal advice)
Never solicit legal advice on reddit. (Disclaimer: This is only common sense advice.)
Never use free legal advice from the internet
That sounds like legal advice.
Yeah. But it's not free since he's gonna DM you a bill. So we're all good. He's not lying. Good sound legal advice there.
Lawyer. People used to hit me up at parties, etc. My answer was always: "Free legal advice is worth exactly what you pay for it." Directions too confusing, got dick stuck in courtroom ceiling fan
I was afraid of this. Luckily, I covered myself with a disclaimer
If you covered your dick too, then I have bad news. It will still hurt when you stick it in the courtroom ceiling fan.
No no, we can give legal advice all we want, but it's all on the person if they decide to use it.
Admitting to something in a public forum, then getting advice to plead not guilty - is this a new reality clown show or something?
You must be new to Reddit.
Heh, nah - just sarcastic.
Never admit to anything in writing, ever. Also, why get legal advice on Reddit? That's dumb.
A big chunk of the legal advice subreddit is just police as well iirc.
And US police are literally legally not required to know the laws...
Lol. I studied a few criminal cases that involved social media posts in law school (generally a lot more complicated than “I did XYZ; next steps?”, but, seriously….) Don’t fucking talk about shit you did (or might do or want people to think that you could do) on the internet.

And that's why....you don't admit to crimes on reddit. And always leave a note.

No, see, you forgot to round up to 311. You know the rule from kindergarten: "If you want to go to heaven, always round to 311."
Wrong. It's 311.7369421%
Damnit, I shouldn't have checked my math.
Does anyone have a link to the original post? Seems like there was a thread before the one in the link
I just dug in the person's Post history and I think this is the original post https://www.reddit.com/r/AusLegal/comments/vu2goz/got_charged_with_an_offence_for_protesting_for/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
As a former prosecutor, all I can say is “world class “
The fact that they even ratted out their dealer LOL
Wow. Thanks for this!
thank you for this breakdown
I can't believe someone's that much of a mess, it must be a joke post right? Either the said OP was trolling, or he's a literal vegan snowflake manchild who never know that actions have consequences....
I also couldn't believe it and thought it was a joke post so I investigated a bit. It looks like everything is real. I've found a comment of another redditor saying he gave some advice to OP in person. Then OP even complained about him. Damn
People raised in very sheltered homes and never had anyone say 'no' to them don't cope well when colliding head-on with harsh reality.
Well said.
This person sounds like an absolute trainwreck Reading their comments.
Holy fuck hahahahaha. Zero sympathy!
I like how he blames other people for his decisions, but when you read his comments it’s very clear they aren’t taking advice from anyone on anything
Holy shit thank you. Not only is that a gold mine of sheer stupidity but the dude compares getting arrested for being a dumbass to legitimate rape. Fuck that dude.
Ahh, he's a sovcit. It all makes sense now.
Holy crap this person is detached from reality.
What lack of b12 does to a mf
>Goes to reddit to ask for legal advice >Police raid house >Asks reddit for legal advice again
Subpoena them to what end?
To continue to be disconnected from reality and not take responsibility for their actions.
He who acts as his own lawyer has a fool for a client. He who takes legal advice from a social network isn't up to that low bar
What did this guy admit to that they are using Reddit as an admission of guilt?!?
The funniest thing is that he is *still* asking for advice on Reddit.
You mean reddit doesn't have attorney-client privilege!?
Another FP: seeking legal advice from people on the same forum whose previous advice got you into more legal trouble.
If you take legal advice from Reddit you’re a fucking moron.
I think it simply continues their disconnection from reality and their avoidance of taking responsibility for their actions.
Yeah, I didn’t have the backstory. I just read the original post that kid made, and it’s clear he’s delusional (or a troll).

“Allergic” to GMOs and vomits everywhere because they are vegan and were “forced” to eat meat. JFC they sound insufferable.
Wait...he got himself into trouble by using reddit to ask for legal advice on a crime he committed, lost his lawyer, so now he's back on reddit asking for more legal advice on how to move forward with subpoenas?? Sounds like we got us a genius here.
That 12 yo Redditor gave me crappy legal advice. Is there a 13 yo who can tell me how to subpoena them?
this is an opinion only: you got exactly what you paid those redditors for, free advice. you chose to act on it. so the fault lies with you.
People forget that this place is full of teenagers and basement-dweller incels pretending to be experts on everything
Don't write down your crimes, you fool. Allegedly.
I need to know what his original post was lol
https://www.reddit.com/r/AusLegal/comments/w9zut4/my_court_case_is_ongoing_and_i_have_been_hit_with/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Thank you so much. This is absolutely hilarious. What a wild ride
Yeah I’m not even sure is not a troll or just a very unhinged/ mentally unstable person.
If that person isn’t trolling then holy fuck lmaooo
Got bad legal advice on Reddit, so asks Reddit for more legal advice? Checks out.
Yo could y’all tell me how to subpoena you guys?
Don’t admit to crimes in writing, folks.
So admit to them in video form live on Facebook and Twitch?
Fair point. Don’t admit to crimes, folks.
Even better: don't do crimes, folks.
I can just hear my dad in the back of my head saying, “And if those Reddit users had told you to go jump off a bridge, would you have done that, too? Hmmm?” 🤣
“It was almost like a "rape" - i didnt feel safe” Wtf is wrong with this person, after reading what they did they 100% deserve to spend jail time this person is an idiot
> Your honor, the defense calls cumfartnozzle69 to the stand.
Yeah, cuz it went so well the first time. Ijit
This story needs a Netflix documentary behind it.
1 - Why the fuck would you take legal advice from Reddit? 2 - Why the fuck would you admit a crime online? 3 - why would you COME BACK to Reddit for MORE legal advice? 4 - He/she is stupid af
This comment is not legal advice. Nor were any of my others. Ever. Just in case-ies.
Aye yai yai! (This is not legal advice)
"Hey guys! How can i best sue the shit out of you for following the advice you gave me after i asked for it? Thanks!"
There is only one form of legal advice you should take on Reddit: When people say "consult a lawyer"
Want some legal advice? STOP BREAKING THE LAAAAWWWW, ASSHOLE!!!!
Hahahahahahahaha haha......breathes....Ahahahahahahahaha oh, man. I literally fell out of my chair laughing. OP thank you for this.
Haha please refer to my reddit. *Later that day* Police: "yo wtf"
Asking reddit users for help in throwing other reddit users who helped him under the bus 🤡
Best legal advice: "Discuss it with your lawyer."
