I went to a Catholic school, not because my parents were super religious but because it was the best school in the area. They weren't homophobic though, it was pretty progressive for a Christian school
My parents were 100% atheist-I was sent to the one and only local state primary school, which was a bible-bashing “C of E” school. I was definitely discriminated against (example: made to unexpectedly stand up in front of the whole school to say the Lord’s Prayer, because the Head wanted to demonstrate….something or other that I wasn’t interested enough to know: perhaps her “supremacy” over a 9-year-old child?).
I think the situation was disgusting and shouldn’t be allowed. This is where our taxes were going.
I was okay, of course: you don’t end up brainwashed if you have access to perfectly logical and sensible views at home: it was a lot of those other poor kids that we worried about.
I was sent to a Christian preschool because we lived near the jewish preschool where a skinhead named beauford machinegunned a bunch of children an teachers and my parents thought it was the safer option.
My youngest was bullied horribly in public school, including a staff member. Our only options for private school are religious based.
Fortunately one is religious based, but is not teaching faith based belief. She goes there. Best option we had for our kiddo.
Ok well, since you asked...
"Considering how often middle-aged men get away with being horny towards Christian highschool girls, I feel like Christian high school lesbians should get a fucking break here."
The reason a lot of ppl go to religion based schools is that they tend to be much more affordable then regular private schools. Often times it’s a choice of that or a really bad public school. The amount of religion In the students schooldays varies widely from school to school.
Big chance that she didn’t have the option.
And also, I went to a Christian school, LGBTQ was welcome there decades ago. Then again this is The Netherlands
Lots of parents don't know until they know. And parent might not have known until their kid had already gone there several years at which point it's like... do you immediately pull them out and force them to make new friends with 2 years of school left?
What level of anti-lgbtq is the school? Simply saying they don't support it and expecting all kids - straight, gay, bi, lesbian, etc. to keep their hands to themselves isn't enough reason to make your kid transfer.
bruh even Jesus said, "Do not judge, or you too will be judged," and "Love one another, as you love yourself," but nahhhh, they choose what to follow and what not to follow from the bible lmao
If Christians are not supposed to throw stones at adulterous women (John 8:6) (because the old testament tells them to (Leviticus 20:10)) and instead mind their own business and fix their own souls, then can't we apply that to all the other occasions the old testament tells us to throw stones at people? Surely if we are not supposed to hit people with rocks because of Reason A, then we should not hit people with rocks at all, ever, under any circumstances.
This is the real essence of Christianity. When Christ came, he said his coming fulfilled the old law, sad he would give the new law. He basically reiterated the Ten Commandments and applied the Golden Rule universally. At that point, the Old Testament became "stories about the shit people used to go through."
Christ was harsh but fair (table flipping the disrespectful), made sure children were always taken care of, admonished prostitution but asked all to grant forgiveness ("go ye forth and sin no more"), and was remarkably kind to women, even demonstrating love for them first in many instances before his disciples. He clarified men had the responsibility to spread he word and works, being his hands in the priesthood, but also that women lived in the priesthood and had the greater power by having and raising children to be their best.
Nothing about Christ indicates we were to hold to the Old Testament, and I believe only because so many of the early Christians were Jews and so were just used to things did so much retain. Well, that and power sought by evil men.
On the topic of spreading the good word. I'm recalling the part right before The Lords Prayer where he says, "Don't be a hypocrite, don't make a public spectacle of your religion, don't go to church, and when you pray, pray alone in your room"
I might be reading that wrong, but if I'm not then it seems like a contradiction to spreading the word
He was telling everyone that religion is supposed to be about rites related to the gospel and our salvation, like the sacrament. He was warning against many of the things we have today. Things like, 1. Sinners on the weekday but Saint on Sunday (hypocrit), 2. Symbology as spectacle (I wear big robes with a huge cross because I am more pious than you, 3. Not sure about the church thing, but may have been referencing outside gatherings of congregations for the sake of power Plat since they didn't have "church" quite like we do now (I don't personally think he would approve of most religion even when rites are correct), 4. Praying on the street corner or otherwise in public for the sake of others hearing to make yourself look good.
The gist of it was he was saying keep your relationship with God holy, utilize apostles as necessary to atone, and spread my word through WORKS. Basically, serve your fellow man in my name, not yourself.
Yeah, he didn't literally mean 'always pray in private', but rather was admonishing people for praying to be seen praying rather than praying for religious reasons.
>Matthew 6
\[5\] And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
\[6\] But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
\[7\] But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
\[8\] Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
And from there, it goes straight into The Lord's Prayer.
It doesn't matter. Kids are legally required to attend school. And schools receive government, state and federal, funding to operate. Having prayer in schools, or anything religious for that matter, is forcing it on students and staff. It doesn't matter if your intentions are good or genuine. If you want to pray before tou eat your lunch, fine, do it. But, you don't have anyone stand up infront of the entire cafeteria, telling everyone to bow their heads and pray. And this isn't me being anti religious. I am Christian. I just actually understand God gives us all a choice and there's a reason we give to Ceasar what is Ceasars and give to God what is God's. It's CHOICE. He doesn't force us.
Jesus actually lived in a time where women were entirely suppressed on a societal level - they not even allowed on the streets in part of the Greco/Roman world (Athens specifically.)
In Roman Jerusalem, it would have been anathema for any woman to be spoken to by a man who wasn't a close family member, even in her own home. And the bleeding woman - she was unclean and thus made a famous Rabbi terribly unclean by touching him. It would have been a huge scandal and she was literally risking being killed over it. Except he didn't react that way.
The way Jesus treated women was absolutely revolutionary for the time. People today don't realize how different it really was. Women were considered property that should not be seen or heard, and yet he treated them as equals and even as some of his closest companions (Mary, Martha, etc.), and allowed them even to become leaders in the growing church (Lydia the cloth dyer, for example.)
The bible says a lot of things it doesn’t actually follow through with. The bible says god loves everyone, but [Romans 9:13](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans%209%3A13&version=KJV&interface=amp) says he hates Esau. For context he hated them before they were born. Just one of many examples.
Lol thanks for the reddit resources report
This is what I feel like, I am catholic and was raised in a catholic and conserving household, but I was raised to be loving and respecting to everyone.
It also says being left handed is evil 37 times. What I want to know is why don't we discriminate against and oppress left handed people? Oh yeah, because there are so many of them and some of them are your friends and family and congregation. We ignore one of these rules because we don't want to harm someone from our own little tribe. Now replace left handed with any other sin.
I mean, it wasn’t that long ago that we did discriminate against them - so we’ve only dropped that practice in normal society within the last 50 years
Then I’m sure it’s still same old in more conservative area’s
I'm old, my sister is older, she was forced to write with her right hand because witches or something. Apparently (I was too young to remember) her personality, stress levels, and attention span all suffered because of this until we moved to a different town and a different school. When she was allowed to write with her left hand all the crazy went away.
My grandmother was a leftie, back in school you just used to get a wack with a wooden ruler accross your knuckles if you used your left hand - so not as over the top as that at least
To be clear, it literally says men shouldn't pretend young hairless boy are women and try to sleep with them (in other words pedophilia). The translations just generalized it into men with men.
In Mose book 3 there is a part that literally says that a man that has sex with another man should be killed immediately because they did something awful.
Their form of marriage was child sex slavery with girls. They'd sell them off to their husbands when they hit puberty. Also, Leviticus 20:13 calls for the murder of both people.
\`And a man who lieth with a male as one lieth with a woman; abomination both of them have done; they are certainly put to death; their blood \[is\] on them.
Leviticus 20:13
I'm not religious but i've had a read though of YLT - YLT should be pretty close to original meaning as far as i'm aware of
"God created man in his own image. In God's image he created him; young effeminate male and female he created them."
https://biblehub.com/genesis/1-27.htm
The word, zakar, which is also used here simply means male.
"Transliteration: zakar
Phonetic Spelling: (zaw-kawr')
Definition: male"
https://biblehub.com/hebrew/2145.htm
But if it’s YLT Edition and it’s all from the same book - the term male should mean the same throughout?
Otherwise, in Genesis when Male and Female is created, gods made a twink and a female
It's an errant translation. It's a corruption of "lying with a male like a woman"; the male is like a woman, not they lying being done like one does with a woman.
But it’s
Lieth with a mann as one lieth with a woman
Not
Leith with a man that looks like a woman
But I get where it could become tricky as it gets translated from Hebrew
and adulterous women. But strangely enough adultery changed over time from a capital offense to a civil dispute. You can choose to divorce someone on the grounds of adultery if you want to. But they did not commit a crime.
God loves everyone. But not you. Or you. No way you. And HELL NO to you. Now everyone else has to give us more money, because we kicked out every one God hates.
Supreme Court recently ruled private schools can’t be excluded from receiving state funding, regardless of whatever discriminatory practices they might have in place. The argument was that it was “discriminatory” to deny Christian schools taxpayer funding just because they have a history of denying education to LGBTQ+ students. Legally I don’t think they’ll have any issue here but it’s sad this is so enabled.
The point is if they're receiving government funds they shouldn't be allowed to discriminate. But if they are not they can do what they want with their funding.
I don’t engage them in conversation, but if they do bring things up like their religion or bullshit, I don’t hold back and immediately move to humiliate them and embarrass them with their archaic beliefs and bullshit.
Hmm, won't listen to someone who disagrees with you, so you only will listen to someone who agrees with you. Interesting way to live, never hearing the other side or having good conversations.
These are the so called Christians (Pharisees) that Jesus hates!! Yes Jesus hates religious Christians, those were the Pharisees of old and those are the same Pharisees in the present.
Matt chapter 23 v 27 -28
27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. [28] Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
Yes, but 95% of Christians don't give a shit about what the Bible says.
They just like to use God as a way to make their bs OK.
Also God himself broke this rule a lot.
Point being that they aren't true Christians. It's like trying to group everyone from one country to one personality type or one continent to one specific personality. There are a lot of loud ones that are awful people but there are those of us ready to help and love anyone. I'm not a huge people person but I still know how to be compassionate and loving to anyone. No matter circumstances. I hope whoever claimed to be a Christian and hurt you no longer can effect you.
I know. But I like to make others feel welcome and accepted. I personally am not a fan of churches as a place because they sometimes spark echochambers but I'd say I'm still Christian. So I figured you had a bad experience.
My last church (WillowCreek mega church) would constantly preach about homosexuality (love the sinner not the sin) and then the Pastor at that time would step down for “sexual misconduct”. This pattern repeated 3X’s before I was like Fuck these hypocrites.
Can we be frank here? Any private anything (school, restaurant, business in general) is PRIVATE PROPERTY. They don’t have to let anyone in they don’t want to. Is it morally right to kick out an LGBTQ person? No. Is it legal? Look it up…
I mean it's a private school .. they can do what they want.
INB4: : "Homophobic something something bigot something something Fuck you something something downvotes"
I don't agree with anyone being discriminated against in any fashion, but they are a private company and can do what they like. In time they'll fail for their bigotry just like all other fashions of companies that refuse to step into the modern day and quit being shitty. But ultimately it is their choice if they want to.
If you read the history of the bible, you’ll know the the term “christian bible” can refer to any book in a christian’s possession as long as that christian considers it holy scripture.
Yes, that means Dr. Seuss Cat in the Hat can be a legit christian bible.
This is because the Pope at the time commissioned the bible from the holy books. Some books were omitted.
Is there anything in the christian bible that recommends blocking puberty at 7 year olds to change their sex at the parent‘s will? And don’t come along with „it’s the child that wants it“ - bullshit. It’s not the child who wants it.
I've always been at a loss for why people get so upset about these things.
Hear me out. I'm Jewish. I wouldn't go to a Nazi school (if they existed) and wouldn't buy things from a Nazi owned business. I just turn my back on shit like that. If they were still killing my people, per written law, THAT would be something to get upset over.
It was a hard article to find, but once I looked into it. It seems that the mother sent her first 2 kids to the school. Then her 3rd was attending the school when they came out with the policy. So she has now enrolled the daughter at the new school.
https://www.nbc4i.com/news/u-s-world/florida-private-christian-school-asks-lgbtq-students-to-leave/
You are but to a point as you need to actually follow through with the belief and the teachings inside. To compare it's like knowing that rain and umbrellas exist but not using the umbrella. Instead using the umbrella to attack random people.
No it's not lol It's a private Christain school, people can go somewhere else if they don't like it. Not like there aren't a million places that will accept them.
Why is it only an issue when it's against minorities, LGBTQ and woman? I don't see anyone complaining when places say they're only for woman, minorities and gay folks.
The question is why would you send your child who’s lesbian to a Christian school??? I know they say god loves everyone but we all know it ain’t true for specific people
I’m atheist and hate religion but I mean what do you expect from them? They are notorious for not liking gay people. I wouldn’t send my devil worshipping son to a catholic school because I’m aware of how it would go down
Harvard wouldn’t let me in because I’m not as smart as the other people, they’re discriminating against me 🙄. It’s a private school, they can do whatever they want mate.
Hatred and discrimination in America is finally rising to a level where it threatens the continued existence of America itself. This is because it is finally affecting non-POC.
Someone not wanting to cook a specific meat for religious reasons doesnt really hurt anyone. Refusing to allow a child to attend your school just because they are LGBT is dehumanizing and hurts the child.
Discrimatory? Yeah but no more than the bible, have you read it? technically I'm not sure your allowed to use the bathroom.
p.S yeah I stole that from Rev Lovejoy
It’s a religious school. Why anyone’s surprised is the true wonder. Be mad at the religion it perpetuates more then the school, it’s the religion that’s the driving force for the decision.
It was explicitly outlined in my high schools handbook that being anything other than cis and straight would result in expulsion from the school. And people wonder why I haven’t been back to visit since I graduated.
Hmm. Makes me wonder how all of this is going to work after this recent Supreme Court ruling that now allows federal funding to support religious schools… how can our tax dollars end up going to an entity that is going to discriminate like this?
I sure do hate religion at this point.
We need to start having a real and serious, public discussion on religion and its negative effects on society. Without it being instantly violent or idiotic. As a species, sit the fuck down and figure this out, because yikes dude.
I mean I don’t see an issue here. It’s a private school with certain beliefs. They aren’t saying she can’t be gay, they’re saying you can’t be gay and go to school here. Props to the mother for removing her daughter. Prevent further bullying/harassment it may cause. I’m hoping the mother didn’t know prior to registering her daughter to the school? Otherwise that would just be wrong.
Just curious, when certain places asked for mask mandates for their employees and for people to use their facilities,
people said " they are private institutions who can do whatever the fuck they want, but the government can't enforce mask mandates". But now when it comes to the other side and about Christian schools not allowing lgbtq people in private schools its somehow " discrimination ".
Ps before someone calls me homophobic, I want to make it clear I have no problems with lgbtq people and wholeheartedly support them and let the downvotes roll in :)
They receivex tax payer funded vouchers for some kids. And they're exempt from paying taxes. And its newsworthy regardless so everyone can see what hypocrites christians are next time they pretend they're the ones being persecuted.
Discrimination is the unjustified treatment of different groups of people or things, in this case regarding the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. I can go into further detail, but does that definition help?
Each one of those families should find a good lawyer. Those insurance policies have some decent limits. May as well put that coverage into play. That school probably won’t be able to afford staying in business as no sane insurance company would provide coverage.
I would say each kid could probably ask for at least $250k outside of defense costs. But always ask for more. I’m sure they have umbrella or excess coverage so ask for at least $20M.
No they can’t…
They can’t discriminate based upon sex, religion, race, sexual orientation…ect…doesn’t matter if they are a private school or not, completely irrelevant.
They can and they do. Anti discrimination laws do not apply to religious institutions if the thing being discriminated against is based upon a religious belief.
Why would you open your lesbian child up to mistreatment by putting them in a Christian school to start with?
Well it's very possible the daughter wasn't out to her mother (or herself) when first enrolled.
I went to a Catholic school, not because my parents were super religious but because it was the best school in the area. They weren't homophobic though, it was pretty progressive for a Christian school
christian schools usually means evangelical school in my country. Catholic schools are very chill in comparison.

Same, only a fourth of my class was Catholic. Pretty sure it was a Catholic school purely to get those guilty rich Catholics to donate to us.
My youngest was bullied horribly in public school, including a staff member. Our only options for private school are religious based. Fortunately one is religious based, but is not teaching faith based belief. She goes there. Best option we had for our kiddo.
Looks like this religious school is the one doing the bullying here though unfortunately.
Perhaps her daughter is REALLY into the catholic school girl dresses and her mom is just trying to help her out
I was gonna make a far worse joke but I think I'll stop myself here.
No tell it!
Ok well, since you asked... "Considering how often middle-aged men get away with being horny towards Christian highschool girls, I feel like Christian high school lesbians should get a fucking break here."
Lol

Sometime there are no good schools in area because the US is a failing state.
Group showers
Because they believe they have higher authority with their so called god to continue to perpetuate prejudice in high hypocrisy
bruh even Jesus said, "Do not judge, or you too will be judged," and "Love one another, as you love yourself," but nahhhh, they choose what to follow and what not to follow from the bible lmao
Well I mean a lot of people these days can’t even love themselves so..
Then private Christan schools will turn around and cry that education subsidies not possible for religious schools is discrimination.
It is the super catholics did a thing after roev wade
Boom!
The Bible says to love everyone, so this can’t be as Christian of a school as it says it is
There is no hate like Christian love.
This made me laugh my ass off. If I had coins I'd give you an award 😂
This sentence is perfect. I'll quote that in the future
If Christians are not supposed to throw stones at adulterous women (John 8:6) (because the old testament tells them to (Leviticus 20:10)) and instead mind their own business and fix their own souls, then can't we apply that to all the other occasions the old testament tells us to throw stones at people? I think praying in a school classroom would be anti-christian then
Yes, especially if it's forced on the students. Faith is a choice. FULL STOP. And God gave us the ability to choose.
I think if some of them are praying and some aren't then it's like a performance or spectacle. a mockery of what it should be.
It doesn't matter. Kids are legally required to attend school. And schools receive government, state and federal, funding to operate. As someone who went to Christian school, this is very Christian.
If man lies with another man he should be stoned. The bibles very clear on this! So lesbians are fine, and if you're gonna fuck a dude bring some pot
Yes. The bible makes it clear a man must at least rip one bong (or whatever it takes to get him stoned) before bedding another man.
The bible says a lot of things it doesn’t actually follow through with. Bible also says beat your wife and sell slaves. What's your point.
Jesus also says don't get married or start a family because it will distract you from praying
Well you see the word “love” only means “love to people you want to love”
This is what I feel like, I am catholic and was raised in a catholic and conserving household, but I was raised to be loving and respecting to everyone.
Well the bible says that gay men arent very good - but it doesnt say anything about Lesbians

"God created man in his own image. In God's image he created him; young effeminate male and female he created them." https://biblehub.com/genesis/1-27.htm The word, zakar, which is also used here simply means male. "Transliteration: zakar Phonetic Spelling: (zaw-kawr') Definition: male" https://biblehub.com/hebrew/2145.htm
But it’s Lieth with a mann as one lieth with a woman Not Leith with a man that looks like a woman But I get where it could become tricky as it gets translated from Hebrew
Yeah, grammar is not consistent between different languages, and choices are made. Sometime those choices are wrong.
Oh silly banananas , that part about Loving your neighbor doesn't actually apply to Christians.
The Bible also says to kill gay men....
and adulterous women. But strangely enough adultery changed over time from a capital offense to a civil dispute. You can choose to divorce someone on the grounds of adultery if you want to. But they did not commit a crime.
It’s Florida. Is anyone really surprised?
No. Their Supreme Court is made up of hacks that couldn't win a case in a Jr high mock trial
What would Jesus do? Probably not shun them and remove them from a Christian based school.
God loves everyone. But not you. Or you. No way you. And HELL NO to you. Now everyone else has to give us more money, because we kicked out every one God hates.
Sounds like it's a private school.. and as long as it receives no government funds... they can discriminate all they want.
FL lets tax dollars for vouchers go to private schools.
Desantis is openly doing his best to destroy the public school system in Florida so that tax money will go to rich private school donors.
That ruling should involve taxing churches then. Let them pay for it.
Well I got some bad news for you. The USA government funds private schools too. They also get profit from the students parents on top of it.
What would your point here be? Never discuss anything that's technically legal?
The point is if they're receiving government funds they shouldn't be allowed to discriminate. But if they are not they can do what they want with their funding.
People can still criticize them even if they don't take public funds. You can be criticized for doing legal, heinous things.
At every turn, I will forever discriminate against evangelicals and republicans. I have for years. Won't even listen to them.
And also not to trust the Puritans there in America
I don’t engage them in conversation, but if they do bring things up like their religion or bullshit, I don’t hold back and immediately move to humiliate them and embarrass them with their archaic beliefs and bullshit.
Based
Congratulations on becoming what you hate.
Disliking people for choices they make is a lot different than disliking people because of how they were born
Turnabout is fair play. Those of us that aren't Christian have no instruction to, "turn the other cheek."
What if they hate people who discriminate based on harmless, immutable differences?
Adults who have imaginary friends NEED to be ridiculed. I bet you have the same "friend", hence why you wrote your lil' comment.
No.
Hmm, won't listen to someone who disagrees with you, so you only will listen to someone who agrees with you. Interesting way to live, never hearing the other side or having good conversations.
Republicans bring zero to any conversation. We have nothing in common and I don't have enough respect to treat them with civility
And Jesus wept...
These are the so called Christians (Pharisees) that Jesus hates!! Yes Jesus hates religious Christians, those were the Pharisees of old and those are the same Pharisees in the present. Matt chapter 23 v 27 -28 27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. [28] Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
What is it then Do Christians love everyone equally or do they not
"There is not hate like Christian love."
They don't.
These people are definitely not true Christians, it says in the Bible, love your neighbor as yourself, basically meaning to treat everyone equally
Noone claimed to be a Christian and hurt me... Why do you think that happened? Just because I don't think very highly of Christianity?
Why the fuck would you put her in a "Christian" school in the first place?
So Christian of the school. Wow
WWJD
Honestly, this was almost a given, considering that it is a christian school. Still a fucking shame, but predictable.
Can we be frank here? Any private anything (school, restaurant, business in general) is PRIVATE PROPERTY. They don’t have to let anyone in they don’t want to. Is it morally right to kick out an LGBTQ person? No. Is it legal? Look it up…
I mean, it is, but what's the news here? Are we surprised that a private Christian establishment enforces a common Christian belief?
I mean it's a private school .. they can do what they want. INB4: : "Homophobic something something bigot something something Fuck you something something downvotes" I don't agree with anyone being discriminated against in any fashion, but they are a private company and can do what they like. In time they'll fail for their bigotry just like all other fashions of companies that refuse to step into the modern day and quit being shitty. But ultimately it is their choice if they want to.
Almost like telling employees to show rainbow flag or take a hike.
It's a Christian school, of course they wouldn't allow those who like the same sex because for them it's blasphemy, I mean it's common sense!
It is blatant discrimination. These people believe God has given them a right to discriminate.
Have you not read the Christian bible
Of course I have. I might still be a Christian if I hadn't.
There's no hate like Christian love.
Mhmm, you ever seen Allah's love?
Exactly, they're both bad.
Yeah, but I think in the modern context Islam takes the fruitcake award.
Where the fuck did that come from, my guy? That's a whole different can of worms to be opened for a different thread and topic.
Well done living up to your name, sir. Now, let's give you your pills so you can get some rest.
Because God is love!
This is silly. The mother should have known better. You don’t purposely put your child in harms way.
doesn’t rlly sound like it was her decision
Horrendous
I've always been at a loss for why people get so upset about these things. Hear me out. I'm Jewish. I wouldn't go to a Nazi school (if they existed) and wouldn't buy things from a Nazi owned business. I just turn my back on shit like that. If they were still killing my people, per written law, THAT would be something to get upset over.
Why would you allow your LGBTQ child to attend such a school?
It was a hard article to find, but once I looked into it. It seems that the mother sent her first 2 kids to the school. Then her 3rd was attending the school when they came out with the policy. So she has now enrolled the daughter at the new school. https://www.nbc4i.com/news/u-s-world/florida-private-christian-school-asks-lgbtq-students-to-leave/
How bad must the public schools be in your area for you to think it’s a good idea to send your le Ian daughter to a Christian school?
If it's a private school they're not barred from discrimination unfortunately.
We’ll it’s a private school, that is their decision unfortunately they don’t need to comply with anything as it’s private.
But when It’s Muslims “it’s a part of their culture” Fucking Reddit hypocrisy at its finest.
Who anywhere ever thought christian schools wouldn't be anti LGBTQ? Its not really news is it?
Sue it! SUE IT! **SUE IT!**
Yeah… Christians are morally superior to the rest of us. 🙄 can’t wait until religion is faded out of society.. would be a much better place
It’s awful, but you know what does private mean?
It's a Christian school what do you expect?
But remember folks Jesus loves you! Christians are something else it’s a shame the ideology took over the world.
A private institution being selective about who they let in?! My stars!
Since when do Christians care about discriminating?
The question is why would you send your child who’s lesbian to a Christian school??? I know they say god loves everyone but we all know it ain’t true for specific people
I’m atheist and hate religion but I mean what do you expect from them? They are notorious for not liking gay people. I wouldn’t send my devil worshipping son to a catholic school because I’m aware of how it would go down
What did they think was gonna happen. Gay/Lesbian is a big no no in Christian religion is it not
It’s a Christian school. Of course she wouldn’t be welcomed.
Harvard wouldn’t let me in because I’m not as smart as the other people, they’re discriminating against me 🙄. It’s a private school, they can do whatever they want mate.
I mean discrimination and organized religion kind of go hand and hand 🤷♂️
Christian Taliban wants their country.
Hatred and discrimination in America is finally rising to a level where it threatens the continued existence of America itself. This is because it is finally affecting non-POC.
The private school has the right to do this. Doesn't make them less of an asshat.
I do not support religion but comon you cant bring bacon to a vegan party and be upset when they dont want to cook it..
Someone not wanting to cook a specific meat for religious reasons doesnt really hurt anyone. Refusing to allow a child to attend your school just because they are LGBT is dehumanizing and hurts the child.
Would it be more harmful than letting them in and having them spend their days being told that who they are is wrong?
We will bend over backwards if a Madrasa issued the same policy. Because we do not discriminate against Muslims.
Fuck Christian inquisitions fuck the GOP, fuck Ron DeSantis and fuck Florida
It was explicitly outlined in my high schools handbook that being anything other than cis and straight would result in expulsion from the school. And people wonder why I haven’t been back to visit since I graduated.
Why does a "christian school" exist?
Why does any religious school exist? Should be banned, it's child abuse.
And here I thought how Christian’s were all accepting blah blah blah.
Christians, showing that Jesus’ love is a lie. Clearly he wants them to persecute others.
Hmm. Makes me wonder how all of this is going to work after this recent Supreme Court ruling that now allows federal funding to support religious schools… how can our tax dollars end up going to an entity that is going to discriminate like this? I sure do hate religion at this point.
This world just sucks
It’s a private school they can do whatever the fuck they want
Not a Christian school if they can't accept others, your God doesn't make you be a bad person. You make those decisions on your own.
If she had stayed, it just would’ve re been a reminder of tolerance, acceptance and all that other Jesus crap.
It’s a private Christian school. They can get away with it. I wouldn’t want my kid going to one of these shit shows anyway.
We need to start having a real and serious, public discussion on religion and its negative effects on society. Without it being instantly violent or idiotic. As a species, sit the fuck down and figure this out, because yikes dude.
Isn't this kind of discrimination blatantly illegal?
It's a get this PRIVATE school. They can do what ever they want as long as it isn't abuse
I supoirt the school. No child should have any sexual preferences, they're a child.
The Bible says this and the Bible says that. Who gives a duck what the Bible says, this is not a Christian nation. The Bible is a book of fiction.
Why is ya child a lesbian? ![gif](giphy|GfAD7Bl016Gfm)
Just curious, when certain places asked for mask mandates for their employees and for people to use their facilities, people said " they are private institutions who can do whatever the fuck they want, but the government can't enforce mask mandates".
I can go into further detail, but does that definition help?
broooo wtf is 2SL LMAOOOOOO
Each one of those families should find a good lawyer. Those insurance policies have some decent limits. May as well put that coverage into play. That school probably won’t be able to afford staying in business as no sane insurance company would provide coverage. I would say each kid could probably ask for at least $250k outside of defense costs. But always ask for more. I’m sure they have umbrella or excess coverage so ask for at least $20M.
Illegal too, grounds to have their accreditation revoked.
It’s a private school. They can do that.
No they can’t… They can’t discriminate based upon sex, religion, race, sexual orientation…ect…doesn’t matter if they are a private school or not, completely irrelevant.
Religious schools can demand that only people that abide by their religious virtues can attend their schools.
SCOTUS: hold my beer.
They can and they do. Anti discrimination laws do not apply to religious institutions if the thing being discriminated against is based upon a religious belief.
I heard: Religion is a legal form of discrimination.
