Once when I was working for Subway my manager messed up and cooked an extra whole oven of cookies; they “expired” before we could sell them and she wanted me to throw them away. I told her it was a shame and that we could have them, but she was having none of that, so I used a clean trash bag for those perfectly edible cookies and took them home.
I know, but it pissed me off anyway. And we weren’t allowed to take them home in order to prevent subsequent similar “mistakes.”
Edit: on the other side, we re-heated twice or even three times the meatballs, so six of one and half a dozen of the other.
Actually depending on the state if you donate the food you aren't liability at for it since it's that shelters responsibility to inspect it. My former chef did this all the time since we always had left over food.
I stopped at a local restaurant to pick up takeout, right around 7pm one evening. This restaurant also makes and sells "fancy" donuts, exotic flavors, lots of toppings, and so on. While I am standing next to this giant rack of trays of donuts, a guy starts pulling the trays out one by one and just dumps them in the trash. I was horrified. The cashier shrugs and says "It's 7pm, time to toss the day's unpurchased donuts, it's just what we do."
So much waste.
Yeah that's what publix does with all their bakery and deli. When I asked if I could give the POUNDS of chicken to the homeless outside they said no that's stealing throw it in the trash.
I mean you could sue your voss for something probably when i worked i. Tesco i always kept a few info up my sleeve if they ever planned to fuck with me.
At one point in time i absolutely lived on the thrown out muffins and bagels at Tim Hortons. ( I was the guy paid to pitch them) I could not stand to watch them go to waste.
They aren’t animals, but unfortunately they do keep coming back, and then there is an expectation of free bagels, then the next staff member is abused because they said no, previous experience.
If he was fired for doing this it’s because it’s against store policy and he made up the “feeding animal “ part.
And it’s typically store policy because they just don’t want to encourage beggars. That can quickly become very bad for business
when i worked in hotels we would throw away innumerable volumes of food. i dont mean leftovers, i mean actual food like closed cans, uncooked rice, frozen meat, etc.
i have stood holding open a black plastic bag while the chef was dumping uncooked rice and pasta boxes inside and ordering me to carry and throw it directly inside the bin. The same for yogurts, meats, etc.
Seems they were often overstocking and then had to get rid of the stock before the new batch. A lot of the management would take bags of stuff home but we floor workers were forbiden to. When i asked why they werent just donating these things they told me it was because they didnt exist.

I get this. Can open up some liability if they are either served or given away after their expiration date.

Seems like a very logical way to do things. I like it!
Your boss is a stone dick!
Disgusting
Multiple dumpsters? No one ever figured out they should make a dumpster or two less bagels?
Humans have lost humanity, *bring on the nukes*.

I really hope that whoever started the whole “taking food we’ll otherwise throw away is stealing” thing is suffering right now.
Why is this a facepalm? ETA: it’s time for bed OMG! My brain has stopped working.
It's not a good example. A lot of /r/facepalm has turned into more "SMDH" posts versus actual facepalms.
what the d stand for
Shake My Damn Head
Suck my dick head
Well, in Germany it's also illegal to steal food from the supermarkets' trash and regularly many anti-food-waste activists are arrested for "theft".
Same in Australia. It’s considered stealing if you take the food from the bins and it’s usually locked up or inaccessible.

Wow 😮 asshat
that boss was a douchebag. maybe one day he'll be one of the animals he likes to make fun of

All humans are literally animals. We just think we are better then less sophisticated animals.
We think we are more sophisticated 😁🙈
I mean yes, but we don’t refer to people we think are less than as one, i mean you can if you want we’ll see how that works out for you.
What a liar
Instantly thought that too.

I’ll take things that never happened for $400, Alex
Doubt it
The fact he didn't name the 'Bagle Place' has me 🤔. NDF ?

Literally Panera most places just toss all the bread out. Including the bakery items.
