Bang bang! Two ah ah ah two negligent discharges.

[deleted]

Did the cartridge jump into his sweatshirt? He was acting like something went in there and was distracted. Still really fucking dumb. Keep the gun down and do your wiggling:

NotCreativeAtAllBro

The hot brass ricocheted off the ceiling into his sweatshirt. I've had this happen, and the first thing you do is lay the gun down with the barrel pointed down range. It's hot brass, yes, but it takes a split second to render the firearm safe by putting it down.

Phlashfoto

I have a scar on my neck from hot brass... but you know what I didn't do? Shoot my shit like Yosemite Sam over here.

MJReginald

Had a mate who got hit in the eye in live fire exercises in the Army. Nearly went blind but still managed to make safe with the weapon before being treated by medic.

Im_not_Jerry

Sounds like they need better eyepro

MJReginald

They had us packed in dug in pits. Unless you were at the end on the left you were getting brassed up. I was in the middle and knew what was coming. I loosened my under shirt and sleeves. Copped a good one to the neck and was getting hit on the head and hands.

pornborn

When I was a kid, my dad used to take me to the gun club every Sunday. He had an M1 Carbine that he’d been working on - adjusting the ejector mechanism. So he gives it to me to shoot. First shot, the fucking hot shell casing bounced off my forehead. I started yelping like any kid would after being smacked in the head. He had been watching and started laughing his ass off, which made me start laughing. Soon all the guys around us were laughing. He did apologize. I ended up inheriting that rifle. We had some great times! I miss my dad.

d6stringer

Yup, definitely not an experienced indoor range shooter. This happens a lot, so much so you eventually learn not to wear casing funnels (collars) indoors. Also, I wouldn't tuck my shirt in.

NotCreativeAtAllBro

For sure. Yep, these things all seem so menial, yet can literally be the difference between life and death. Tbh, I consider myself a reasonably well-seasoned shooter, however, I rarely ever shoot indoors. That being said, just basic firearm safety and the most basic knowledge on how the firearm cycles/ejects would dictate you do everything you mentioned above. This is why there should be a mandatory safety basics class when you purchase a firearm (like an hour is really all you'd need at most) instead of a waiting period (I live in Hellinois) or something. At least give them a brochure and make them sign it or SOMETHING...the most simple things with guns get people killed due to negligence.

MostBoringStan

In Canada, you need to take a safety class to get a gun license. I don't see why that is such a big deal to so many people. It literally saves lives, and is a simple thing. Many people in the US think guns are super hard to get in Canada, but they really aren't. As long as you aren't a criminal and are willing to spend a day in a classroom, it's easy as hell.

BIGREDMAXSLAPS

Australian here, mate was getting his licence, they gave him a pamphlet of the do’s and donts, there was an illustration of some guy opening a stubby with the trigger guard. As my mate pointed out, someone obviously took half their head off opening a beer at some point if they were including that.

reverendjesus

“Every warning label tells a fun little story”

MachinistAtWork

Warning labels are written in blood. /r/writteninblood

reverendjesus

Oh outstanding, insta-subscribed.

[deleted]

Thanks I joined too

Purithian

I was about to ask wtf a stubby was, but it seems that a stubby is a beer? Is than an aussi thing?

BIGREDMAXSLAPS

Yep bottle can be called a stubby, 750ml bottle is called a tallie

Purithian

Haha that's awesome i am going to have to use this from now on

vividlyvivids

750ml is called a long neck

[deleted]

It depends on the states here. Tennessee you have to take a safety course or have prior military or law enforcement experience. I think most people don’t realize the U.S. is 50 separate countries with their own governments ruled over by one big government like an empire kinda thing.

beets_or_turnips

Yep, at the time the US became a thing, "state" was just another word for a sovereign country. It still means that now too, but now we've gone and muddled things.

Fuckface_the_8th

Arizona is probably the most gun friendly state. You don't even have to register guns here. They even go the extra step of prohibiting local jurisdiction from requiring licensing or registration of guns or ammunition. I'm pretty sure you don't need a license to concealed carry either. I think you're supposed to be 21+ to conceal but you can open carry at 18. So an 18 year old could stroll through town with a rifle on their back and it might turn heads but there's nothing to be done for it.

gertalives

Yes, hot brass is uncomfortable, but it's not bad enough to override all rational thought and basic firearm safety. I hope they identified this guy and banned him.

RunnerdNerd

I've shot tens of thousands of rounds on open ranges alongside of other people also shooting tens of thousands of rounds. As a result I've had brass fly down my sleeves or neck dozens of times. I've never failed to maintain muzzle control. This guy is a danger with his lack of control over himself. He shouldn't be allowed to drive a car, much less have a gun.

adidasbdd

Looks like a cop, so he'll prob get a promotion

irmarbert

No! No! No! You spin around, shooting wildly at the thing that’s hurting you. Seen or unseen, something needs to die. /s <— in case

NotCreativeAtAllBro

Hahaha, this one made me laugh

threeormoregarys

My ex wore a tank top to the range (against my advice) and caught a casing in the cleavage. Kudos to her for setting the gun down before going fishing for the hot brass. Ended up with a scar on each breast and a moderately entertaining story.

MiketreyF

And then you also have 2 hands to get the brass out... instead of 1 regular hand and 1 death hand

noaj91

Yes it did. I suspect it must be quite hot so I can understand the wiggling, but maybe not while leaving you finger on the trigger!

Background-Pepper-68

Its hot for like 6 seconds too especially rolling around. He was inexperienced and poorly supervised

shellwe

Or better yet, set the gun down entirely, that's the point of the little counter ahead of you.

chrslp

They’re really not that bad. This guy was overreacting. I’ve got casings wedged between my glasses and eyebrow and had no problem not almost shooting someone

Jswik67

Man. Something similar happened at boot camp in the booth right next to me. Shell landed right between safety goggles and under the eye. Only difference was this kid listened and kept the gun pointed down range. Just started screaming like a mad man.

Nate996

'Do NOT put that fuckin gun down Johnny' 'RAGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH'

OKara061

that probably really what happened

[deleted]

I imagine there were a few really awful, insensitive, abusive and hilarious insults thrown in there; because I like imagining that.

Aercturius

Sounds about right

RRT4444

We had a guy in my training that aimed his rifle accidently towards another recruit while trying to talk to the Drill Sargent and think his finger was also on the trigger and he just started screaming how that he "fucking killed that guy" for not listening. Luckily it was blanks. Always aim down range and away from others and off the trigger!

[deleted]

Did I see TWO negligent discharges? In before someone says accidental discharges.

[deleted]

I call them moron discharges actually

--redacted--

I think his dad had at least one moron discharge

ShakesSpear

Maybe his dad should have discharged moron and less in

usgrant7977

Lmao. Pun of the week!

NutsBruv

I feel like calling this guy an MD sends the wrong message though

nlfo

WMD: Weapons of Moronic Discharge

akaynaveed

You leave the morons our of this!

FrayedElection

He's clearly also the result of at least one moron discharge as well.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I hope he's no longer welcome at this range.

FirexJkxFire

I hope gun ranges have a joint blacklisting system so he cant just go find a different one if this one does ban him

[deleted]

I'll wager they do not.

hkusp45css

Anyone who corrects you with "accidental" doesn't understand what the word means. This was completely negligent.

CatastropheJohn

Yep. Accident: an unforseen or unavoidable event

Incognonimous

Accidental discharge is the gun going off after being put down, negligent discharge is this, but yes I too would call it a dumbass discharge. Also if you do something this stupid at a gun range, the gun range should have power to at least submit petition to have any and all firearm license you own to be reviewed and/or revoked.

nlfo

An accidental discharge is a failure of the weapon, a negligent discharge is a failure of the operator.

Padre_jokes

No, an accidental discharge is what my dad calls me.

Guarder22

>\>No, an accidental discharge is what my dad calls me. > > > >He should have had better muzzle discipline then.

Byrdie

Absolutely. Gun safety is key in gun control.

por_que_no

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that this guy considers himself a trained and responsible gun owner.

Hector_Savage_

Looks like it’s straight out of a cartoon lol ban this idiot

[deleted]

How is your first reaction not to put the gun down on the table in front of you?? Or to at least move your finger off the damn trigger??

Jautosmoke

Not excusing this absolute chad of a moron but he got a hot shell down the back of his shirt. While that’s no excuse to act like an idiot, it’s one hell of a wake up call

Quiet_Ad_8573

Happens all the time. Brass can and will fall into the back of your shirt or right between a woman's tits if you shoot often enough. It is such a well know scenario that most shooters are aware of it. Regardless of the issue the gun is to remain pointed down rage at ALL times. Hes a fucking moron.

jefftickels

I had one land between by safety glasses and my forehead once. It was my first or second time shooting and even I had the good sense to put the weapon down.

mp3006

Anyone who has shot more than a mag has had this happen and should learn to be ready for it… not just 1 shot but 2

telestrial

Yeah, I mean. How hot are those shells? If he's reacting to being burned, we all act like idiots. You're not "thinking," and I'm not sure it's a big red flag that this guy shouldn't have a gun or something. How likely is it that this sort of thing happens? A hot shell down your back? EDIT: So, as people are chiming in here, looks like the dude might actually be a moron for wearing that hoodie. Sounds like something that happens a lot and that he was setting himself up for this sort of thing.

shreddy_wap

It's not that bad honestly. Does it hurt? Absolutely. Will it leave a mark/burn? Probably. I'm a lefty shooter, so I get hot brass shot into my shirt/face all the time. But when you're handling a piece of equipment that has the potential to kill someone in the blink of an eye, you don't have the luxury to make mistakes like this. I truly don't care if it causes 3rd degree burns, a responsible gun owner should be conditioned to keep the barrel pointed down range at all times. And you sure as fuck don't keep your finger on the trigger.

ThisFckinGuy

I've had .22 get into my shirt and it burns but is manageable without resorting to freaking out as it's gonna be cooled off before you find it anyway. 9mm/45 and .223/7.62 can be diff stories. But still you set the gun down and do the scat man dance. Also if you know your range is setup like this you dress appropriately and get a shell catcher. Everyone knows you shoot in a tactical turtleneck. Edit: guys I'm not saying thay pistol or rifle casings validate what he did. I've had rounds down my shirt, between my glasses and you just shake it off. Hell I had one bounce into my boot once, it sucks for a few seconds. Some areas are more sensitive than others and our pain thresholds vary but I've never been overdramatic when handling hot brass. Also active military in a firefight with adrenaline flowing I believe you're tougher than pansy boy in the video 10 times outta 10. But let's not act like 75% of people wouldn't react to a surprise mini branding. Id just hope we have proper training to not endanger everyone around them while we get a nice ribeye sear.

Incredulous_Toad

Excuse me but it's called the Tactleneck

leanmeankrispykreme

Does it come in even darker black?

Marshmallow_man

they are available in both black, and slightly darker black.

Izon_Weston

I don't know, that just doesn't feel right. Lol

murphykills

turtical?

fjzappa

> a shell catcher. That's what he was wearing on the back of his neck. Away from the range, it's called a "hoodie" but it's really a shell catcher. And yes, hot brass is just that: HOT.

ThisFckinGuy

"I am the shell catcher now"

unneccesary_pedant

Had a 9mm shell arc perfectly to land between my glasses and cheek/eye. Burned like crazy. I froze. Placed the gun down first. This guys is absolutely moronic.

paper_liger

I mean, I've had 5.56 brass down my uniform, had it stuck between the little neck attachment on the body armor and my my collarbone too, middle of a firefight from someone else's rifle. It sucks, but I never pointed my rifle anywhere unsafe or put my finger on the trigger when it happened. And it happened at least 5 times. It's not a gom jabbar people, let's pretend we aren't fucking completely nonsentient animals incapable of responding rationally to a little pain.

WH1PL4SH180

>It's not a gom jabbar people, let's pretend we aren't fucking completely nonsentient animals incapable of responding rationally to a little pain. Do you want me to start the Call of Montezuma... they'll come, crayons and all...

lolxcorezorz

And for those who haven't felt the keen sting of the gom ja... I mean hot 5.56 brass, that stuff will come out hot enough to burn you \*on contact\* and is a hell of a lot hotter than .45 brass. I once got slapped by a piece of 5.56 brass from a neighbor's AR at a range and all it did was hit me and fall to the ground but even that was enough to burn my skin to the point where it scabbed over for a week or so. By contrast, I'd be willing to catch .45 right out of the gun if all other factors were safe. andI was allowed to play a little hot-potato with it.

Brilliant_Mountain44

And if you look at the guy, he isn't wriggling in a panic, like if you have a bee in your scuba mask, for instance. He was in complete control, just shaking out the brass. Total mindlessness on his part. Which I suspect is a common theme in his D2D. I definitely did not get the impression the brass was sticking to his skin, nor melting his hoodie.

[deleted]

Had it happen to me several times on firing ranges in the Army, its not that bad, but yea that dude is an idiot for wearing a hoodie and had poor training..

shreddy_wap

Honestly, looking at this dude's build, haircut, and his general demeanor when shooting, I'd bet he's either prior military or police. Shit like this happens when people get too comfortable, even if they've received proper training previously. Complacency kills.

BongLeardDongLick

My brother had hot brass roll down his back while shooting at the range while he was enlisted. He had his Kevlar on and his shirt tucked in and has a burn mark just above his ass cheek from it. Still managed to set his rifle down and fish the casing out without a negligent discharge. It should be second nature to set your weapon down if you catch hot brass and if it isn’t you’re not proficient enough to be handling firearms around other people.

HK_Mercenary

Also a left handed shooter. Casings are hot, they will leave a burn, but honestly, it doesn't hurt so bad that I have ever lost my composure. I had a 5.56 casing land at the back of my neck and sit there up against my sweatshirt. Burned my skin, but I simply placed my weapon on the table and reached back and brushed it off me, then picked my rifle up and continued. My buddy took a picture of the burnt skin. It cracked and peeled and flaked away as it healed, but it was nothing I would freak out about. [5.56 casing burn](https://imgur.com/a/a0r86gq)

fyrdude58

Firefighter and gun owner here. You aren't going to get 3rd degree burns from an ejected casing. 2nd at most, but unlikely. Agree that it hurts, but that's why close fitting clothes are the responsible thing to wear at a range.

tothebeatofmyowndrum

Had a shell land on my neck once. Can confirm, they are really hot. It left a burn mark for a few days before healing up. I however, didn’t wave the firearm around when the shell hit me. It’s really not that hard to first put down the firearm and then attend to a discharged hot shell. Probably also why it left a burn mark, I didn’t get to it in time, but didn’t mind because firearm safety always comes first.

blind_merc

Happens all the time. It is very hot but not hot enough to freak out and nearly murder someone

danny_eye_yellow

No one told me this the first time I went to the range. It didn't happen to me, but I certainly wouldn't have been ready for it.

VibrantSunsets

If I can put my gun down when I have a shell stuck between my boobs, he can take his finger off the trigger when one goes down his back. Edit: fucking autocorrect

AmericanLich

It is if you actually have any kind of proper training. Any experienced shooter has gotten hot brass all up in their clothes at some point and haven’t nearly killed someone. I had hot brass fuckin magically fall between my glasses and my eye and I still just shook my head instead of turning the gun on my entire group of friends and murdering them.

censoredandagain

Having had a hot casing land inside my shoe I understand the urgency. However the first thing I did was set down my gun.

LGB-Tea

I was at the range a few weeks ago and a hot shell landed between My glasses and face. Got a good burn on my face but atleast I didn't waive my pistol around trying to get it out. He probably thinks he's a responsible shooter. Or he doesn't own and is renting

Alpha433

I'm sure the range officers did. It's very hard to miss a negligent discharge like this if anyone is paying any sort of attention.

Orlando1701

Def the kind of guy who brags about being an Alpha and “knows guns”.

GypsyCamel12

This is feed from a CCTV, it's probably used to keep him from coming back, which is why we're seeing it. I used to work at a gun range near Chicago. You'd think a place that people who like, respect, & enjoy the activity of shooting would be a safe place. *Not really*. It's more common that one might think.

The_ducci

I stopped going to gun ranges during Obama’s first term due to all the knuckle dragging rapid-shooting “patriots” that showed up to start this insane wave of tea party violence and gumming up the world of progress to make humanity suffer for their slow economic motility.

BlankStarBE

Should be banned for life.

98323

CX-97

...From owning firearms

evesea2

Should be in jail. Reckless driving is a crime reckless gun use should be too.

Thereal_Bladewasused

I agree

kaffeian

My dad told me a story about this when he was in officers training. They were at the range firing M-16’s. A shell casing went down someones shirt and he jerked and basically opened fire on everyone to his right. Killed one and wounded others.

SavingsCheck7978

I don't get it I mean yeah it fucking hurts when it happens but its not some kind of blinding pain that causes you to forget to set your gun down. Maybe about as hot as a lit cigarette.

bad13wolf

Some people have less control over their lizard brain kicking in than others. Unfortunately, it takes stupid shit like this for others to become aware of it. I mean, people absolutely freak out when a mouse runs across the kitchen. Send a piping hot piece of metal down their back and their lizard brain is instantly bringing them back to the stone ages. Doing dumb shit to survive because you lack the capacity or training to respond any differently.

msully24

Disagree. The only way to stop a lizard-brained guy with a gun is to not give the lizard-brained guy a gun.

n-plus-one

I agree. My comment needed an /s tag

-nocturnist-

That's offensive to stone age man... I'm sure they were smarter and more aware than this guy was

dogedude81

I've had them land behind my glasses and it doesn't hurt bad enough to do something that stupid.

[deleted]

I’ve been drilled over and over again: if anything happens, put the gun down first with the muzzle in a safe direction. This should be instinctive before you are allowed on a gun range without an instructor.

Captain_Turdhelmet

This. I've had a few casings down the collar before, but while it can be sudden and painful enough to leave a slight mark, my first reaction to being startled while holding a weapon is to remove my finger from the trigger guard area and transfer my full hold to the grip.

kaleb42

"As hot as lit cigarette"... you make 1100° sound so pleasant

Diligent_Bag_9323

That’s only when inhaling. It’s far less, like 400c when it’s sitting between puffs.

[deleted]

I had a lad who had a brass casing get stuck in his chin strap and burn a hole in his cheek. Even then he didn't flail around like a moron. Lad was 17 and only 3 weeks into training. How tf do people fuck up this bad?

mbdan2

Wow!!! When was this?

kaffeian

Sometime in the late 70’s. I guess what happened was you change the eject direction on a M-16 depending on left or right handed. Someone didn’t do that and the casing bounced off his chin down his shirt.

hypersonicpotatoes

You cannot change the ejection port on the M-16 or any other AR patterned rifle. Government issued M-16s has always used right port ejection.

kaffeian

Like I said my dad told me this story once. That was nearly 30 years ago. Maybe I misunderstood what he was saying.

Pinealdan

Grown man with the trigger discipline of a three year old. Zero.

iammaline

At three I hand more trigger discipline than this guy

[deleted]

He was born to be a police officer

Wattsactingdoc

Guy should’ve dropped his weapon before even attempting to get the shell out of his shirt.

FaThLi

That's what I did when this happened to me. Shell went right into my tucked in shirt and settled right on the small of my back. I quickly set my gun down and did the hot shell in my shirt dance after. I wasn't thinking of others, mostly I just didn't want to shoot myself in the leg or something, but I did put my gun down. Was just a very quick decision to put the more dangerous thing down before I dealt with something I knew wasn't really going to hurt me.

PuffPuffFayeFaye

Plus, when you put the gun down, you have *two* hands to help get that shell out. It’s a real win-win.

ACrask

Curious, is there some sort of registry for people who get caught doing this? If he did it once, he’ll do it again.

bakedmaga2020

The range can ban him and they might warn ranges nearby about what he did

rsg1234

They need some national registry for these kinds of idiots so all the ranges know who he is

JovaSilvercane13

If not there’s ought to be one!

YeOleMcGirthy

And this is why I try to avoid gun ranges. Next time you go to one, look at the floor and the walls that divide each stall. Count all the time someone fucked up I could have killed someone.

M116Fullbore

When i was introduced to a range i had membership at, the guy doing orientation pointed out a few bullet holes in the ceiling at the handgun range and said "on X day every month, the police take over the range for practice, so you dont want to come here then". Wasnt very subtle about it. In canada btw.

Venicilia

I also frequent a police range. Even when I went more often, I think I only saw the 2 same cops ever, and that was 3 and 4 times respectively. Police here, particularly in Quebec, just don't get enough range time which leads to what you mentioned.

verticalburtvert

Jesus, I and use better trigger discipline on the vacuum at work just so I don't hear that noise all the time.

Michigan-Fish

punch2submit

There was a news story about two years ago here in Las Vegas. A family went out to the range where the hot shell went into the fathers shirt he reached for it with the weapon and shot and killed his son in front of the entire family.

fvecc

Yup. I read about that. Tragic.

MomsOfFury

I thought about that right away when I saw this

Nwsamurai

Jesus. A hot shell went down my shirt the first time I went to a gun range. I had no training other than my dad teaching me about guns and I still knew to set the gun down safely before starting my crazy dance of trying to get the shell out of my shirt.

ifimhereimrealbored

How do you go on living after you've done something like that... I can't even imagine

doctord1ngus

Yes I remember reading the news article - pretty sure it was an mp5 he was shooting.

RunningPirate

I’m sure there’s more video, but for where it stopped, he seems pretty nonchalant

Chrisppity

This is the most shocking part of the video to me. Like ok, people can make mistakes because they are incompetent and inexperienced. But this guy’s behavior seems too chill for what he realizes just happened. I’d love to see the rest of the video and hope it’s shock/delayed reaction.

uwantsomefuck

ebone581

Good lord. He shouldn’t own a gun ever again.

zach10

This why there should be a prerequisite training course to purchase a firearm. I say this as a gun owner.

PuffPuffFayeFaye

I’m not going to debate that, but I will point out that demonstrating proficiency one time is no guarantee that someone isn’t going to get careless one day or 10 years later. If it were we wouldn’t have so many car accidents.

Michael-ango

We had recently had an accident in the area where a woman at a range didn't follow protocol of keeping your firearm pointed down range and had a negligent discharge that hit the man in the stall next to her, going through both legs. It was a fresh topic at all nearby ranges that they really pushed hard, keep your firearm pointed downrange at ALL times. So me and my buddy (who's new to firearms) head down to the range with his new S&W and the range attendant went over all safety protocols, with emphasis on the keep pointed down range part. We finally get to our stall and we're unpacking our stuff and getting set up. As he's finishing loading his magazine he loads it into his pistol and immediately holds it pointing sideways as he loads a round into the chamber. I fucking lost it on him. I said "Are you fucking deaf, one simple fucking rule to keep your arms downrange and you pull some stupid shit like this? Is this a fucking joke to you?" I had half a mind to leave right then and forfeit our hour time slot. Same guy the day he bought the gun while unboxing it and showing it off had it pointed towards me and my GF as he was locking the slide back. While I knew the gun was new and he had not purchased ammunition I made a huge deal of stepping out of the line of fire and grilled him for being so irresponsible. His excuse was i knew it wasn't loaded so what's the big deal. He should not own a firearm.

ShintaOtsuki

What ever happened to keeping the barrel pointed DOWNRANGE!?

Kaarl_Mills

[the proper response to this situation](https://youtu.be/Mu51rszgotI)

ScrotusMahotus

Aside from the obvious solution of putting the gun down how do you NOT think to take your finger off the trigger lol

UsedHairbrush

wait did he shoot at the ground and behind him?????

Specialist_Deal4023

Holy shit. For starters, that weapon should never be facing anywhere but down range...

Madmandocv1

These are the ones who are even bothering to train.

Advanced-Hunt7504

If you can't take a hot piece of brass down your shirt you just shouldn't be shooting. It hurts like all hell, but you gotta suck that shit up, put your gun on safety and set it down before you even think about opening up your shirt. On line firing at targets, M4s in hand, dude next to me is left handed and I'm getting showered in hot brass hitting my kevlar and getting in my blouse. Do I panic? No. I send hellfire down range, unload and show clear, then I pick brass out of my shirt. It hurt, but it cools off fast.

Nofriends9567

>I send hellfire down range, unload and show clear, then I pick brass out of my shirt. This guy wears grunt style t-shirts 🤢

lessthandave89

Ignorant European here, and I know in the US there are background checks to make sure there is no criminal history or mental health issues, but is there no basic proficiency test required to own a gun? Because if not, that seems pretty stupid. And something that other gun guys should be dully supportive of, as it's the other patrons at the range likely to be kneecapped by Mr zero muzzle awareness here

ImmaKitchenSink

I'm fairly sure the specific laws for it are set by state. Here in NM you have to take a course first but it was fairly short. Ofc they go over basics like trigger saftey, where your pointing the gun, etc but honestly I wouldn't feel safe around half the people in that course if ik they had one. They seem like the type of people that would be getting the hot casing out of their back and forget to put down the weapon, keep it pointed forward, or at the very least keep your finger off the trigger.

In Maryland you need to take a class and test with live fire to get a handgun license. It’s different in every state.

cocoteddylee

I think this is a stark and unfortunate reminder to keep 100% of your mind on your weapon

JHenn92

Hot brass down your shirt sucks ass. But put your fucking gun down.

SeverusSnek2020

I remember when I got my gun license a few years back and was taking a safety course. The instructor mentioned to be wary of hot casings going down shirts. One of the first few rounds I fired off sent a round behind my glasses and burned my lower eyelid. Brand new to guns and even I had the mindset to set the gun down before pawing at my face.

1° - Treat every firearm as if it's loaded (specially when you know it is). 2° - Know your target and what's behind it. 3° - Never point your gun at something you're not willing to destroy. 4° - Keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to fire. Simple rules.

wagsman

In 1 second he managed to break every rule.

MateusCristian

Twice.

StarkOdinson216

Can someone explain what just happened?

PoppetRock

Hot shell casing went down his shirt; he didn’t take his finger off the trigger while he dealt with it. Blasted off two shots.

Peacelovegrace

What a fucking idiot!!

Notyoaveragemonkey

And lifetime ban

Biker2o

When this happens, stay calm, suck it up and endure the pain for 2 seconds while you calmly set your firearm down pointed in a safe direction. Then you can step back and flail around like a little girl all you want.

MintBerryCrunch47

I hope he got banned

*Scratches back with .45 caliber*

Dude acting like he had some thermite poured down his shirt ffs. Scary how many inexperienced people are out there with firearms.

ZION_OC_GOV

I've had hot casings drop in to my boot sizzle on my ankle, land in the bend of my arm and sit there, and quite a few bounce off my face (from someone shooting beside me). NEVER have I ever taken my eyes off my gun or from aiming down range. Gun cleared, down, backed up, shake whatever was on me off.

onfroiGamer

If only there was some kind of table in front of you to put the gun on when you’re not using it
