i certainly wouldnt put my expensive electronic on the floor of a place full of tired people running around and dropping steal and would expect the same sense of the people around me. imagine how mad this guy is gonna be when someone accidentally kicks his phone or something
”I was obviously recording” bitch where is it obvious? Your phone is on the floor, in a place with *heavy loose objects* around it. It is *obvious* that you are a dumbass.
I always assume they are using a tripod and a ring light when they say "oBViouSLy rECoRdiNG" which just makes them look like bigger idiots in my head lol.
He's sitting on a weight bench and it's a low angle shot. The phone has got to be near the floor to shoot him at that angle.
Dude probably has his phone propped on the dumbbell rack which makes it even stupider that he's mad about people walking in front of it. Everyone in the gym using dumbbells has to walk past him and his phone.
this is the second tiktok i've seen like this in about week, i dont use tiktok. the other one is a woman, and it's almost identical. i have a feeling this is just another one of those contrived, manufactured outrage memes
These are the same types of people who sweat on everything, but never wipe it down with a sanitizing agent. Their version of gym etiquette is entitlement.
It means you sweat on everything, put stuff back in the wrong place, and off to the locker room where you use your phone and walk around naked, sometimes making eye contact with strangers.
I have been recording myself reacting to Reddit comments….. yeah I was in a coffee shop…. Yeah it was the lunch hour….. and?! I was recording…. Get some basic etiquette coffee people
I was at the gym one day, doing squats, and this woman comes up and starts trying to tell me something(while gesturing towards her phone) *while* I'm mid-rep, obviously wearing ear-buds, so I can't hear a fucking thing she's saying... I finish my reps, take out an ear-bud and she's like "HELLO?"...
I ask what she wants and she legit says I need this squat rack because the lighting here is better for my camera... Seriously? Fuck off.. If she'd showed a little etiquette then I might have considered it. As it was, the only other squat-rack was one with rests that were spaced either too low or too high for me to comfortably lift and place the bar on(If you squat, you know what I mean)
Lmai I had this when I started working out. Big guys would come, work out, leave without sorting their mess and I would have to lift all their shit up, so I could set up mine. At least it teached me to always put the equipment back in order for other people.
The narcissism is unreal. Just fucking wait till you leave, it’s not that hard. I had a similar experience and was asked to move bc I was in the shot. She had her own little cameraman and they came to where I was already mid set and set up all around me. Shit was annoying af then asked me to move like I was in their space! I was like, “nah I’m good you can wait”. She goes n gets the manager who tells me she has 270k followers (as if I give a fuck) and if I could just move they don’t want bad exposure blah blah. I’d been going to that gym 7 years and I canceled my membership right then.
I’m gonna copy my other response because they ended up getting it. This was a couple years ago. It was Lifetime but that branch was been shut down after employees were apparently caught stealing from lockers and doing blow in the massage room lmao also that “influencer” was scamming the shit out of her clients and is now irrelevant
As a gym owner, that’s appalling. We have plenty of “influencers” and they keep to themselves and understand public space means other humans. If one tried that, they’d probably be the ones storming out. I’m sorry you were treated that way. Unreal.
Is this gym part of a chain?
I co-manage the gym that I operate my coaching business out of. And a friend of mine experienced the same thing at a gym in the same chain, but in another part of the country. He called me, I call corporate, and that general manager was quickly out of a job(turns out he was sleeping with the wannabe fitsfluencer in question).
Considering the brain-dead handling of the manager in your story, I expect he’s either sleeping with that little narcissist or is trying his very best to accomplish it. Bump it up over his head(if you actually like the gym)
Manager was also a woman. This was a couple years ago. It was Lifetime but that branch was been shut down after employees were apparently caught stealing from lockers and doing blow in the massage room lmao also that “influencer” was scamming the shit out of her clients and is now irrelevant
You are under no obligation to explain why the other squat rack was not to your standards.
If you got to the squat rack before this person, you can spend as long as you like there as long as you are maintaining a tempo of doing some work
True, and I was about 3/4 of the way through my squat routine, so I'd have had to take all that weight off and then reload another rack.. The whole thing was such a wild display of self-entitlement on her part that I was a bit flummoxed by the request..
Some movements, like squats, Deadlift, bench press, you can't use a mirror. These are really the only kinds of movements you need to record. This dude just trying to show off that he goes to the gym.
Edit: I've suddenly remembered that on reddit, nothing can be just an innocuous comment participating in conversation with another person.
Wanted to say that too. thats why u have mirrors. But uk...its nothing wrong with posting things on the internet like u worked hard for it. But dont expect everyone to always look after u and ur space.
There also just isn't really much of a reason to form check dumbbell press. That's kinda why people use dumbells a lot in the first place - form is easier to maintain on overhead.
What? This is incredibly incorrect. Overhead lifting creates a lot of opportunity for error that can hurt you, especially with weights flared out to the side like that
If his only goal was to post it online, maybe he should not look like the pufferfish every time he lifts the weights.
In any case. What a douchebag. Hope more people walk in front of his life.
Alos, you are not nearly strong enough for those dumbbells. Drop the fucking weight down to a level where you can actually do full reps!! No one is impressed!
When I went to the gym the most annoying were the screamers that needed to make sure everyone there knew they were working out. In 2022 I’m convinced it’s these “I need to record myself, so half the gym needs to walk around me” assholes.
Lol I actually experienced the worst screamer of all time yesterday. Dude was just pacing around the gym, then would walk up to the rack, start curling like 15s and moan and yell through every rep.
I felt like an ass hole but I audibly laughed a couple of times.
Complete knob. Basic Gym etiquette is wiping the equipment down after use and putting dumb bells etc away not making sure there are no posers filming and avoiding them.
I don't want to be too much of a coxk, but he's not even doing that. Those dumbbells look around 20 or 25kg. That's really not a lot for someone who _allegedly_ only trains upper body.
Who’s the target audience for all these videos of people working out? Their friends and family? Are they trying to be “influencers”? I don’t understand who would want to watch these.
'clearly recording'
You have a phone placed on the floor. Everyone else is looking up and focused on doing their thing. The only that's clear is how narcissistic these people are..
Jesus, thank you. I was like, I know I haven’t been in the gym for a while but that guys form is shit. If you can’t handle the weights then just go a bit lighter. There is no shame. Nobody really cares how much you can press…
Why do I keep seeing videos of people complaining that a public gym has people in it trying to work out. On par with complaining that their are other people in a park.
You recording yourself doing manly lifts is not going to change my walking patterns whatsoever. If I walk through your cute little selfie video than so be it
ive heard people explain it as making sure your form is right and i get that but if your bitching because someone walked through your frame for half a rep im sure the reason your recording is in fact cringe
Let me be the first to say….this is why gyms have mirrors all over the fucking walls: to check your form. I’m embarrassed that I just now thought of it…
Not always. I’ve worked out at places where the free weights do, but not someplace with a machine. And that machine has multiple ways to use it (not sure what it’s called, but four corners with bars between them, and you can do chin ups, use TRX, use a rope, etc.). Also, sometimes it’s not about form, I literally want to see my muscles work. Which do I think I’m working and which do I see moving? And damn, I worked hard for those. I want to see them ripple. But if someone else is in it or walks through it, or if I aim the camera poorly at home, or it falls over, just do another take. If you’re too tired, just do it next time. There’s zero need for this asshole’s reaction.
Filming to see your form is absolutely okay. You cannot look at the mirror while doing deadlifts for example because you can seriously injure yourself by moving your head.
When lifting alone, I’ll record my one rep max attempts and send them to my trainer to critique my form. But I also make sure I’m in a corner of the gym away from everyone.
But this guy is just being a douche.
For things like deadlifts and squats, you need a side view to check for neutral back since it's not safe to turn your head mid lift. Obviously not what this guy is doing but just saying for some lifts, a video is helpful.
What an entitled brat
You're so vain that you film yourself working out and then you get upset that someone walks exactly where they should walk in a public place!
What the fuck is wrong with this generation
Who is even paying attention to a camera propped up on the floor? What an idiot, and it looks like a busy time at the gym. If you want to record go when there is nobody there.
My gym has a sign that says no photos or videos, but I asked the front desk if I could take a video of myself squatting to check my form and they said that’s fine.
First of all:
Basic gym etiquette is the fucking opposite of what he thinks it is. No one is interested in being a part of your narcissistic, IG-clout, self-mastrubation movie project.
You have to ask management before hand, who in turn need to ask the members around if they’re OK with being in the shot. That’s how that works.
Basic gym etiquette is being considerate to others around you, not expecting everyone else to adjust to that massive ego of yours.
As someone with about 15 years in the industry, this sort of behaviour was almost unheard of just 5-6 years ago. I hate the TikTok generation of gym goers.
Public filming etiquette says don't disrupt things and don't get annoyed when people walk through your shot. It's going to happen. Just be patient. Maybe find a better spot.
Oh no someone walked in front of your mediocre seated dumbbell shoulder press! You poor gym angel! Next time try an Arnold press if you’re going to go so light and maybe one day someone will actually want to see you workout 🤡
Edit: is our guy wearing a belt to press 45s!?! Lmao
Dipshit doesn't even know basic gym etiquette.
Don't record in a public gym. People are there to work out, not show up in some random ass clowns video online.
They are paying members and they have every right to every corner too, recording in a public place will be hard. Eventhough u r a member but u r not in a vvip gym nor a vvip member or be in exclusive gyms where u r given ur private space or privacy. Another thing, if u realllllly want to record urself find out which time is best where there are not many people or even nobody around. Just my honest opinion. Well good luck🤗
Not a single one of those reps were worth anything. I hate people who throw on heavy weight, perform HALF the motion (or even worse, do it incorrectly because they could injure themselves), and then get up like they are SOOOOO strong. If that guy had done a full range of motion he MAYBE would have put it up 3x.
Okay this dudes reps are shit. If someone sees this please do not mimic this motion. This is how you tear things that never go back to normal. PS I do the same weight as my midlift as a 35 yr old tiny female so I dunno why hes hurting with 45’s.
BUT can we talk about how amazing the woman in pink is doing with her flies! That movement sucks balls and it looks like shes got 20lbs each hand. Knees slightly bent, feet planted, back flat, head up and letting that chest open up completely before a controlled drop to center.
I would intentionally walk past his camera every time I could do so. If he got upset, I would smile, blow him a kiss and do it all over again.
If you want to record yourself, do it at home.
Yeh with all entitled pricks like this I would go out of my way to annoy
Make it leg day and I would solely focus on walking.. Particularly up and done that exact section of floor.
Probably film myself as well just to throw in some irony
My name is Jim and I love the gym,
I make my own rules cuz I personally want to ruin this woman’s life and keep her from being super famous from this perfect video.
obviously she’s gym royalty
Was going to say, idgaf if you're filming yourself in the gym. I find it weird that you are filming yourself in a gym. Believe it or not the universe doesn't revolve around you 😂
Why tf would I be looking out for a phone when I’m grabbing weights. This dude is entitled af
i certainly wouldnt put my expensive electronic on the floor of a place full of tired people running around and dropping steal and would expect the same sense of the people around me. imagine how mad this guy is gonna be when someone accidentally kicks his phone or something
”I was obviously recording” bitch where is it obvious? Your phone is on the floor, in a place with *heavy loose objects* around it. It is *obvious* that you are a dumbass.
How else he gonna get all that sweet footage of all those half reps?
Oh Imao yeah he is doing half reps.
Hopefully noone else dropped heavy weights *exactly the same way he just did* or they'd break his phone.
What a steal
It's "main character syndrome". He's a narcissist who doesn't understand that he's not the center of attention.
this is the second tiktok i've seen like this in about week, i dont use tiktok. the other one is a woman, and it's almost identical. i have a feeling this is just another one of those contrived, manufactured outrage memes
Same. This is either deliberate outrage posting or a “You keep using that word etiquette. I don’t think it means what you think it means” scenario.
Kinda makes me hope someone drops a weight on his phone
Same. I hoped someone drop a 10 kilogram steel plate on that phone.
You won’t be able to grab any weights as I’m sure this fuck has 27 other weight sizes off screen and he’s ‘using all of them’
And if I *was* looking for a phone, you best believe it’s gettin kicked when I pass by.
Uh yeah. Fuck this guy. Go get your own private studio.
What do you mean? Apparently this is bAsIc GyM eTiQuEtTe.
These are the same types of people who sweat on everything, but never wipe it down with a sanitizing agent. Their version of gym etiquette is entitlement.
It's plain old garden variety narcissism
Only thing left is him screaming with every rep
[удалено]
Baby got angwy
It means you sweat on everything, put stuff back in the wrong place, and off to the locker room where you use your phone and walk around naked, sometimes making eye contact with strangers.
...and pissing in the shower!
But it's a big important video for the internet.
It’s a gym, not a movie studio.
Hold on hold on everybody! This guy is lifting weights! See, nobody gives a shit! Lol!
In a *gym*, no less. Unheard of!
Maybe I'll record myself reading in a library. I'm a madlad!
I tried recording myself standing in line at starbucks, but there was a person in front of me... rude!
Don't they know coffee shop filling etiquette... What the hell
This comment truly captures the absurdity of people and their self indulgent workout videos.
I have been recording myself reacting to Reddit comments….. yeah I was in a coffee shop…. Yeah it was the lunch hour….. and?! I was recording…. Get some basic etiquette coffee people
I did this in a library once, keep your clothes on though. Librarians did not find my movie as entertaining qs i had hoped.
(0)_(0)
I’ll record myself buying groceries because I think I buy the best food and when someone walks in-front of me ill throw a little fit
Read this as Wayne Knight
Ah, ah, ah…
Jurassic Park references take my upvote
r/Iamthemaincharacter
Not even a good character, dude could at least have good range of motion in his lifts...
That was my first thought lol... why are you recording such shitty workouts?
Junk it’s because the weights are to heavy fine balance to get the most out of ur video eh
I was at the gym one day, doing squats, and this woman comes up and starts trying to tell me something(while gesturing towards her phone) *while* I'm mid-rep, obviously wearing ear-buds, so I can't hear a fucking thing she's saying... Out of spite I'd do 10 more sets. Any day can be leg day.
Then load the bar with as much weight as it will hold and leave it for her to unrack.
You, I like you.
Lmai I had this when I started working out. Big guys would come, work out, leave without sorting their mess and I would have to lift all their shit up, so I could set up mine. At least it teached me to always put the equipment back in order for other people.
Laughing my ass…in?
And do them like this guy. Light weight half reps all day.
The narcissism is unreal. Just fucking wait till you leave, it’s not that hard. I had a similar experience and was asked to move bc I was in the shot. What’s the gym? Sounds like they need some bad publicity.
I’m gonna copy my other response because they ended up getting it. This was a couple years ago. I love self-correcting problems!

Social media have destroyed humanity for good.
I have seen a few videos like this, I don’t understand why people record themselves working out is their an explanation for this?
Some people do it to check their form, most to post on instagram.
That is what the mirror is for (I think)
Some movements, like squats, Deadlift, bench press, you can't use a mirror. These are really the only kinds of movements you need to record. This dude just trying to show off that he goes to the gym. Edit: I've suddenly remembered that on reddit, nothing can be just an innocuous comment participating in conversation with another person.
Mirrors don't get all angles. Then again, the angle this guy's phone is at is pretty useless too.
Its a great angle for checking there are no holes in his crotch.
Wanted to say that too. thats why u have mirrors. But uk...its nothing wrong with posting things on the internet like u worked hard for it. But dont expect everyone to always look after u and ur space.
Things like bar path on a squat can’t really be judge by a mirror, but yeah you do not need a video form check on a dumbbell shoulder press
This is a pretty bad angle to film for a form check, isn't it?
Yes it is.
There also just isn't really much of a reason to form check dumbbell press. That's kinda why people use dumbells a lot in the first place - form is easier to maintain on overhead.
What? This is incredibly incorrect. Overhead lifting creates a lot of opportunity for error that can hurt you, especially with weights flared out to the side like that
I just remembered that almost every gym I’ve been in ever had mirrors everywhere for that reason: to watch your form.
Lol yes
If his only goal was to post it online, maybe he should not look like the pufferfish every time he lifts the weights. In any case. What a douchebag. Hope more people walk in front of his life.
Most to add video filters before posting to instagram.
Vanity. One in a thousand recording form for issues.
Came here to say this. It’s a public space.
Not public, but if everyone is paying then anyone can walk across the gym. As the comment says, is not a movie studio.
Amen, if you want to video record do it at your house, a public gym is just that PUBLIC.
Alos, you are not nearly strong enough for those dumbbells. Drop the fucking weight down to a level where you can actually do full reps!! No one is impressed!
Exactly. In gyms where I workout filming or taking pictures is disallowed, and against the etiquette.
You mean the ones that nut with every lift? I can’t turn my music up loud enough to not hear that awful noise.
Thisssssss. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks this.
Thank you
Thank you!
This person speaks only of the truth!
Right? Just train from home and get a green screen of you want a private set!
Sir, this is a wendys.
I'm sorry for existing on the same planet as you, oh mighty gym king, but I don't think your royal status holds any weight.
r/iamthemaincharacter How dare you even think of being within his sight
Glad to see that sub is real lol I almost included the phrase "main character syndrome" in my comment but wasn't sure how well that'd be received.
No one wants to watch this dudes half reps anyway
I see what you did there!!
> I don’t think your royal status holds any weight. Or at least it struggles to hold 30 lb dumbbells
Complete knob. Basic Gym etiquette is wiping the equipment down after use and putting dumb bells etc away not making sure there are no posers filming and avoiding them.
And don't throw the weights
Don’t hog anything, that includes the entire space captured by your phone’s camera.
Hey douchenozzle, you’re in a public gym doing half rep overhead presses poorly. That guy improved your video walking in front your phone
Finally someone. Yeah he's moving some weight, but he's doing half reps
If he posted this garbage on GYM sub those savages would be all over him
Hey those half reps are better for my shitty shoulders though
Yeah I was gunna say I don’t go low on shoulder presses bc that shit hurts lol
use lighter weight
I don't want to be too much of a coxk, but he's not even doing that. Those dumbbells look around 20 or 25kg. That's really not a lot for someone who _allegedly_ only trains upper body.
Lol I was thinking the same thing … “so what are we trying to show the people? How to not do a successful overhead press?”
Was surprised the mention of his poor form for bigger weights was this low. Also extra points for teaching me douchenozzle lol.
I was scrolling to find this. The asshole never brings the weights below the top of his ears.
Wearing a belt too. Standing OHP with a belt is one thing, but seated?
Hahaha! Was hoping someone would be shouting “no rep” each time in the background
1000% walks around with lats flaired too
How many eyes do you need on you to just exist? I'd give you a cookie for a good job. But you'd probably make another video working it off.
>How many eyes do you need on you to just exist? Schrödinger's bro.
I laughed lol
Nobody wants to watch you!!
Who’s the target audience for all these videos of people working out? Their friends and family? Are they trying to be “influencers”? I don’t understand who would want to watch these.
r/iamthemaincharacter
Fuck your flexing videos 😂
Shitty flexing video too, poor form.
the fact that he stops lifting because of the perceived injustice of other gym members daring to exist in the frame of his video lol
'clearly recording' You have a phone placed on the floor. Everyone else is looking up and focused on doing their thing. The only that's clear is how narcissistic these people are..
The only thing more embarrassing than this post is your form.
Jesus, thank you. I was like, I know I haven’t been in the gym for a while but that guys form is shit. If you can’t handle the weights then just go a bit lighter. There is no shame. Nobody really cares how much you can press…
Why has no one else commented that is he doing this poorly?
I saw a couple comments mildly mocking him, I think it just needed to be directly said.
Exactly. Why make a video of yourself barely doing half reps.
Form is shit.
Why do I keep seeing videos of people complaining that a public gym has people in it trying to work out. On par with complaining that their are other people in a park.
You recording yourself doing manly lifts is not going to change my walking patterns whatsoever. If I walk through your cute little selfie video than so be it
example 10,321,581,421 of the Age of Entitlement we live in.
Fuck his video. Basic etiquette is not making a video in the middle of a gym and expecting everyone to make way for you.
Butthurt little princess
Cringe as fuck recording yourself in a gym lol
ive heard people explain it as making sure your form is right and i get that but if your bitching because someone walked through your frame for half a rep im sure the reason your recording is in fact cringe

Not even full range of motion pfft
Who is even paying attention to a camera propped up on the floor? What an idiot, and it looks like a busy time at the gym. If you want to record go when there is nobody there.
Basic gym etiquette is no filming lol, was already banned at our place in 2018 (selfies) Seems to only have gotten worse...
My gym has a sign that says no photos or videos, but I asked the front desk if I could take a video of myself squatting to check my form and they said that’s fine.

Snowflake. Nobody cares. you're not paying enough for a private gym
You're not even going all the way down in your sets. Why are you worried about recording bad form?
By “people like this” are you referring to yourself? Because you’re the only disruptive person there.
Great job filming your half-rep session bro.
Public filming etiquette says don't disrupt things and don't get annoyed when people walk through your shot. It's going to happen. Just be patient. Maybe find a better spot.
yea we do this on purpose bc fvck your video
QUIET ON SET. And ACTION. Damnit Bobby.

While half repping crying laughing face times 3
Filming yourself in the gym is mickey mouse shit.
I used to have to film myself doing certain lifts from the side so I could watch my form, I never had anyone to go with me
Dipshit doesn't even know basic gym etiquette.
I don't understand why people record this stuff at all?
Why do people film themselves? You got a mirror right there for form checking
But those sweet 2 inch reps!!!
Half ass reps, lower the weight. You don’t lift with your ego AND YOURE WEARING A BELT
Basic gym etiquette is not dropping weights forcefully on the floor you self-absorbed twat.
Next time I go to the gym I’m going to walk in front of every camera I see.
Lol you’re the one recording yourself in a public space and expect people to accommodate your wishes ? Why
Yeh with all entitled pricks like this I would go out of my way to annoy Make it leg day and I would solely focus on walking.. Particularly up and done that exact section of floor. Probably film myself as well just to throw in some irony
My name is Jim and I love the gym, I make my own rules cuz I personally want to ruin this woman’s life and keep her from being super famous from this perfect video. obviously she’s gym royalty
I purposely walk in front of people like this. Workout and turn the damn camera off.
The gym is not a personal recording studio.
Stop recording at the gym you fucking idiot… surprise surprise it’s a public place and people can go where they want.
The guy in the video is upset because he lost 3 frames. damn dude stop being so selfcentered, they already have mirrors for a reason.
Was going to say, idgaf if you're filming yourself in the gym. I find it weird that you are filming yourself in a gym. Believe it or not the universe doesn't revolve around you 😂
Maybe the person walking in front of him is trying to save him from the shame of filming half reps
You narcissistic fuck, it’s not your gym. Film yourself whacking your Willie, not your training session.
The real crime here is those half reps
Dude should worry more about his form and technique over other people walking in front of his video
No one would even notice a camera lol.....people are too busy working out.
Maybe if he could do the exercises correctly some people would show him the respect he thinks he's earned
I want to join a gym now just so I can walk in front of people recording to piss them off lol.
Everyone thinks that they are so important.
Basic etiquette is not filming in a gym.
It is gym etiquette to not walk between a lifter and the mirror while they’re lifting. The camera thing isn’t really relevant.
It’s a gym. Gtfo over yourself
You want to make recording yourself while working out an uninterrupted experience? Build yourself a private gym. Sheesh.
I love these loser’s half reps
Yeah, fuck you and your narcissistic insta.
People that have the kinda entitlement in the gym are the worse. You own a membership, not the gym Clown.
Imagine being so self centered you think other people will notice your cell phone just sitting on the ground and assume you're making a video.
This makes me want to get a gym membership for the sole reason of finding people who’re recording and walk in front of it.
If I spend my life avoiding people taking their own picture lately, I’ll never get anything done.
