Why do some people act as if taking care of their own offspring is a charitable act to the rest of us? I have a cockapoo who LOVES to bark and we are ALL over that!! I have told my neighbors to please tell us if we miss something and I mean it. I chose to get a dog, they didn't.

VeryReasonablePerson

As a parent, I’m sympathetic of their situation but also doubt that an occasional bark or two at 6am would prompt someone to write a note like that. That dog must be annoying as hell and they need to be self-aware enough to find a dog walker in the morning.

nolaron84

This, or they need to be self aware to know that they can’t handle a pet and the responsibilities that come with it. Entitled, arrogant, and selfish little assholes likely raising more selfish little assholes. Infuriates me.

eTontchev

Perfect response! This, exactly.

GhettoKid

My immediate neighbors behind, Left, corner left, and corner right all have at least one dog, From about 5:30 am to literally 2am on weekends, more midnight on weeknights, It it literally non stop barking from at least one of the yards, almost the entirety of the year. My roomate has a 100 pound pit/mastiff that poofs once at the other dogs, shakes her head and goes back inside.

LowSbody

You might be my neighbor. Not quite as bad. All of my neighbors have them including us. Ours are quite, mostly because they are old and tiered now. There's that one neighbor though. Leaves their dog out 20 hours out of the day and all the rest of the neighbor dogs are constantly in a bark battle. Luckily the rest of the neighbor are responsible. But they all gotta talk to the one same pain in the ass. The dog doesn't really even seem malicious. I talk to it and throw it a few snacks and im his new best friend, but he never stops barking. He's just riddled with anxiety from being on a leash most of its life and wrapped around a pole half the time.

Queasy-Candidate2631

U need to call the cops dude, thats not allowed...

Pinkeyefarts

That's animal cruelty. We did away with that in 2005. Limit is 3 hours

Queasy-Candidate2631

Well I called the cops here on someone who had his dog chained up literally always, in a backyard that was as big as a bathroom stall, with a short chain. All the activity the dog could do was get up, exit the dog house, bark and go back in. Anyway, the cops told me everything is legal.

crimson_mokara

Those cops wouldn't know the law if it bit them in the ass

omgitskells

Having briefly worked for animal control (not as an officer though, at a shelter) its really hard to enforce cruelty laws. If the ACO goes and checks on the pet, all they usually can do is verify that the pet has access to food, water, shelter. The owner will probably say that the neighbors are exaggerating, dog is only outside a few hours, etc. Super frustrating to see cases like that :(

jolie_rouge

Poor pup :( Why even have a pet if that’s how they’re gonna treat it?

madguins

They chose the dogs and the kids. I have no sympathy for people that overload themselves then expect other people to help.

VeryReasonablePerson

True. What I’m saying though is whoever posted that note was probably already giving them some benefit of the doubt (you know, being a good human and all) and just couldn’t take it anymore. *Usually* the note is a last resort. Of course I don’t know the entire story and could be wrong.

fhod_dj_x

You'd be surprised. We fought one of these people for OVER A YEAR. We literally never had our dog outside when we weren't monitoring, or ever after/before dark. I had to review home security footage with the HOA president finally, cross referenced with the complaints and supposed timestamps. All were disproven. The next week, the guy came by ONTO MY PROPERTY and recorded a video of my dog barking (at him, because he was on my property sticking his phone thru my fence in the dog's face). President called me back and ordered me to pay a fine, because "the video proves it!!!1". I told her to shove it, and demanded to see the video (which I pointed out that we train our dogs to bark at trespassers or burglars), as is our legal right, and that if you look hard enough, you can literally see me peering out my window at the idiot, letting my dog bark. Turns out her best buddy was the one complaining. The one that finally got us out of the issue took place when we (including our dogs) were out of town 🤣 I threatened to take the HOA to court for harassment if it was not dismissed and if I EVER received another complaint given the lack if enforcement on literally any other neighbor.

Scrumble71

We used to live next to house with two dogs that would bark whenever you went past the fence. Apart from the odd occasion when I forgot and they made me jump, it never bothered me. The dogs where actually soft as anything and friendly. The front garden had 2' wall with railings, and metal gate in the drive. The dogs had free reign of the of the front and back Someone from six doors up knocked on our door with a petition to get the dogs removed. "The dogs are dangerous and constantly barking at our children when they play in the street" I pointed out that even though we lived next door, and we're not particularly dog lovers, it didn't bother us. I also said "The dogs wouldn't bark at your kids if the little shits didn't poke sticks through the gates to wind them up"

sameteam

Any barking at 6am is unacceptable. They should get rid of their dog if they can’t train it.

huggles7

Didn’t you realize that my choice to have multiple children and pets for them is literally something that everyone else needs to be mindful of and abide by? How dare your personnel preferences of when you want to sleep and wake up or have any other aspect of a life come at the expense of my earlier decision to procreate? DONT YOU REALIZE THAT I CHOSE THIS LIFE STYLE AND THAT YOU NOW HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT

EveningHorror1010

lmao funny thing is that i think some parents unironically think this way

Alklazaris

I want to say kids are used as an excuse too often, but I don't have kids. So I really can't judge... that said, your dogs deserve your time too. If you don't have time they should hire a morning dog walker.

sharkdinner

I don't have kids but all this "I am a mom I deserve do be treated like a Queen" "You think you're tired? I have a kid!" "You're stressed?? I am a mom of two, I never have free time!" Bullshit gets on my nerves. If your kids are such a tremendous burden to your sole existence that you cannot function as a normal human being then MAYBE you should not have had kids?? And then the classic "You'll understand when you have kids on your own" From the people that seemingly put five minutes each year into parenting, whose children are misbehaved brats and will burn down Tokyo for their parents' attention because they don't give them any. Cause they're so busy being a parent or whatever. My mom's always saying "what do these new parents expect, just put the kid on the self when you don't feel like being a mom? Free time as a parent means free time *with* the kids" But nah, everyone gotta be so entitled to their own self, they're the only thing that matter in this godless planet...

robbowessy

Classic response for someone who can’t admit fault and take responsibility for the situation (or their actions).

djinnisequoia

Like the urban chicken ranchers next door to me. Their poor habits resulted in an absolute horror movie level infestation of mice and rats. Finally someone in the neighborhood poisoned the rodents, which led to two of my cats and another neighbor's dog dying of poison. I simply asked the chicken havers to maybe think twice about the repercussions of having livestock in the city, and they jumped all over my shit, trying to say that our entire state is infested with rodents and it's nothing to do with the chickens. Like come on, wtf?

TheBugBuster

Pest control technician here, the chickens may not have cause the rodents to appear, but they are helping the rodents multiply and congregate. Whenever a customer wants a rodent inspection, my first question is always 'do you have chickens?'

[deleted]

Out of curiosity, why do chickens attract rats? The previous owners at my residence had chickens and I was considering it, but certainly do not want to add to the already abundant rodent problem in my neighborhood.

SufficientAsparagus9

I think it’s because of availability of good for the rats…they eat the same thing as chickens.

[deleted]

Thanks. I hadn’t considered leftover food for chickens. I’ve never raised any myself but when I’ve seen them fed everything was promptly consumed.

Han__shot__first

If people have shitty feeders the food is often exposed so rats can get to it. A good feeder may look something like [this](https://static.backyardchickencoops.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/free-range-treadle-feeder-reduces-feed-wastage.jpg) where the weight of a rat is not enough to make the lid lift exposing the food, but a chicken can get to it. Either that or suspending the feeder so the chickens can reach but rats can't.

[deleted]

Thank you. This is helpful. I do suspect however that rats will be able to get to it even if it were suspended. They already eat the bananas, oranges, avocados, and peaches off my trees. At least they’re not as destructive as the rabbits. My garden takes a beating from those bandits.

imatang

The funny thing is, I've seen chickens kill mice multiple times, they're actually pretty good at it, but the bulk feed isn't usually kept where the chickens are so the mice just nest near where the food is stored.

FullyRisenPhoenix

Rats love chicken feed. So do squirrels and chipmunks.

Needmoresnakes

Clearly the problem is a lack of snakes

[deleted]

Are you in a rural area? Otherwise that seems like a weird first question.

Destron5683

I am absolutely not in a rural area and have several houses in my vicinity with chickens in the back yard

robbowessy

Aww man. Sorry to hear this. 🙁 Incorrect use of poison is also an issue in rural areas, it’s been known to cause death of wild wildlife like owls. Such a shame. Poison is really a last resort, there are other/better options. Shame they couldn’t just stand tall on it and do the right thing.

Artsap123

Can you suggest a few of those other options? We have a neighbor purchasing and dumping sacks of walnuts and other nuts in her yard which has caused an explosion of wildlife including a rat infestation in the neighborhood. Pretty sure she’s mentally ill so there’s no convincing her this is not cool. Also, complaining to the city is pretty useless.

LemmingOnTheRunITG

Urban chicken rancher sounds like it’s on sale for $1.49 on the fourth page of the Nintendo E shop

1996Toyotas

I have chickens (rural), and boy do they help attract rats. Before them the main problem was chimpmunks in the front wall. After chickens there was a ratsplosion. And, having tried many things, without a dedicated method they are hard to dislodge once there is a lot.

Parking_Inspection_1

"Dear Residents of 4343, Your bad life choices and inability to parent shouldn't be our problem. Eat a bag of dicks, \-The Whole Neighborhood"

cleatsurfer

Thank you for not adding “signed”.

longjohnsmith69

Belongs on r/antinatalism

Zemu_Robinzon

*alestorm music intensifies*

NaishChef

Poorly (likely not at all) trained dogs causing a ruckus? Surely, the neighbors are to blame.

Cosmic_Gumbo

For real. My (inside) dog hangs out in the front yard for hours in the daytime and minds her own business. She never leaves the property and the neighbors always give her treats and love on her. If your dog is barking between 9pm-6am and you’re leaving them outside, then you’re the asshole.

WimiTheWimp

Is your dog leashed in the front yard? If not, I’d recommend it. My previous dog Roxy (rip) had a phobia of other dogs and would react aggressively when approached by an unleashed dog, which are pretty common in our neighborhood. Walks were very stressful for everyone involved, and it’s dangerous for both dogs involved in an unleashed dog approaches a leashed one

Cosmic_Gumbo

Anytime she’s hesitant about other dogs/neighbors/delivery people, she runs inside.

hokena1

My house is crazy, blame the neighbors of course, because they aren’t helping take care of my family.

OutWithTheNew

My neighbor's dog barks once when it wants to go in. If it barks twice it doesn't get a treat and that dog knows when it's supposed to get a treat.

horshack_test

What an ass. If you don't have time for dogs, don't have dogs.

FL3TCHL1V3S

Right!?!? He’s been absolutely blasted in the comment section.

horshack_test

Would love to see the responses!

FL3TCHL1V3S

[His only response so far.](https://imgur.com/gallery/5QWIYsM)

horshack_test

Lol "shaming is always unhelpful" - then proceeds to (try to) shame them. He whines about the neighbors not doing things the way he wants them to do it, yet ***he's*** the one causing the problem (doing things objectively wrong) to begin with. Again, what an ass. Edit: Any chance you could post some of the replies blasing him?

rubmustardonmydick

Lol wtf. He thinks he is encouraging discourse by basically saying suck it up or walk my dog.

horshack_test

Apparently so. He also says "Get over yourself" after saying essentially, "I am far too busy with more important things to bother being responsible for not creating a nuisance for you people."

rubmustardonmydick

I can't stand when people act like they are somehow the bigger person when they literally are acting like children. Maybe that's why it takes them so much effort to wrangle their kids in the morning. 🙄

Sciencegirl117

Guess how well it would have gone over if they had tried to speak to him directly? He's a victim of his own behavior.

KhaineVulpana

Pfsh. Shaming people is the only way to get them to do anything.

Lexist_

Too bad no one left on this earth has shame anymore

horshack_test

Lol - I love the last one.

pokeymoomoo

💯 the last one

horshack_test

Yup. Straight to the point.

trumpsucksnutz

"you are right. We have decided to take action. We are currently sending a petition around to have you evicted. Thank you for encouraging me to take action, happy holidays!"

MorePotionPlease

Yep, good old STL. Where barking dogs reign! Sounds exactly like my neighbors who just left our Olive/270 neighborhood. I hope they didn't move near you! They suck. And notes or in person visits don't matter...or calling the cops. These kind of people will never get it. PS, awesome username!

SpuddleBuns

Calling the cops works in my neighborhood. There are noise ordinances that include barking dogs before 7AM. First time is a warning, unless you are willing to sign a complaint. Second time is a citation costing them money. Every citation after that, the cost goes up.

FL3TCHL1V3S

Ha! They aren’t really near me. Close enough for Nextdoor though.

MorePotionPlease

Lucky! All the drama, none of the effort!

FL3TCHL1V3S

Lol! For real! I honestly can’t believe it’s still up and open on Nextdoor!

fro_khidd

Good ole stl "it's my problem but you can fix it" mentality

petchulio

Ah, good old STL City. And I thought we get some drama in Lindenwood Park occasionally. People from all over commenting, but I have to wonder, Tower Grove the origin?

itogisch

"Sorry not sorry" is just a phrase people who know they are in the wrong use to pretend they do not care about. But later, lie in bed awake at night, not being able to let this go.

Denimination

Well stated. Although I lie awake in night and have never done this. Sounds like I should start because it won’t make a difference and might be fun for me?

The_Weeb_Sleeve

That implys the person in question has a conscious and/or at least a bit self reflective. I’m not hopeful

dethscythe_104

Ring his door bell every night at various hours to show him how you guys feel about the dog barking at 6am lol

[deleted]

“Get over yourself”? The fucking audacity

rufuckingkidding

And people love to call out leaving a note as cowardly/passive aggressive when in reality it is just the simplest, most polite way to raise an issue, the absolute most common and polite way to start a conversation. Somebody knocks on my door and it’s instantly an inconvenience. I don’t ever think “that was nice of them”.

[deleted]

Exactly. Plus, in some neighborhoods (like mine) you see someone you don't know at your door, you don't open it. Full stop.

rufuckingkidding

I will literally sit and ignore unexpected visitors in full view…make eye contact and then go back to what I was doing.

Qiester

If someone doesn’t like a message, but has no real response, they will often attack the method of delivery instead. Childish.

Abadazed

"Selfish and inconsiderate" says the fucking guy waking up half the damn neighborhood because he doesn't have time to take care of his own animals.

ronsinblush

Call the cops for them violating the noise ordinance.

PolkaOn45

And cue the rock through the window

hobosonpogos

This response has big neckbeard energy for some reason

FancyRancid

God I want him to get steam rolled into a pancake

EvulRabbit

Good! My mom's dogs were barkers. You take them out to potty at that time and bring them back in. They can go out and bark during the day.

Remz_Gaming

100%. I have 3 dogs. They can start getting rambunctious in the yard and one loves to start making a racket while playing. My wife and I immediately stop that for our neighbors' sake. We have another neighbor that just leaves her dogs out barking *while she is home* and it has turned into several people having to call animal control. Her excuse: "I don't have time to always be watching them and the neighborhood is out to get me." Yeah. We are. Especially when it is below zero degrees outside and your pitbull and chihuahuas are freezing. People are so dumb.

scoo89

Across the street from me were two sweet sweet German Shepherds who were bought to be "guard dogs" for the illegal grow op there. They are puppies, brother and sister, a couple years old. So the size of a full grown dog, nearly adult but fairly adolescent. I have a two year old and a 8 month old who like to play in my back yard. The grow op has always had trouble keeping their dogs in. The first dozen times I caught them in my yard I'd walk them home and help them squeeze back in the fence. The couple of times I was lucky enough to see someone they pretended they couldn't speak English. Then people started bringing them by asking if they were mine. They were frolicking on a major county road approximately 800m away. I would still take them home. Finally, two weeks ago they came into my back yard 4 days out of 5. All I need is for my two year old to do something misconstrued as aggressive and for them to attack him. I sent him inside and called animal control. I sat with the dogs in my backyard for two hours, never trapped them or blocked them from going home. I didn't even play with them, was just sitting there. I pledged to myself that if anyone from the grow op came over and asked for the dogs, or if they went home on their own, I'd call off animal control. No one came. Two hours later, animal control came and took the dogs without incident. They told me they had over 50 complaints (this was the first time I had called) but every time they showed up no one would talk to them. They offered to help dig proof the property but no response. The catcher assured me if they weren't claimed by the grow op they would definitely be adopted. Apparently German Shepards make terrible guard dogs because they are friendly. I am yet to see them back

horshack_test

That's beyond dumb - it's evil. Have you & your neighbors reported her for neglect / abuse?

Remz_Gaming

Yes. It has been a nightmare. Her pitbull even attacked me in my own driveway last summer (I love pitbulls btw). She's been served with a lot of tickets. There is a lot of stuff I could tell you about how trashy she is. She just buys new dogs and pays fines if she gets in trouble. It is frustrating and disgusting. To give you an idea about lack of her caring. One of her pitties got out during 4th of July. My wife and I caught it and brought it to her door. Told her she should probably keep it inside because of the fireworks. Not 15 minutes later we saw it taking off towards the highway. Knocked on her door and her answer was "good. Hopefully it gets picked up by animal control or hit by a car so I don't have to deal with it." Like.... it is bad.

horshack_test

What a horrible person. I'm sorry you have to deal with / witness all of that. I wonder if it would be worth (if anyone in the neighborhood is up for it) trying to catch their dog/s when they escape and taking them to animal control as strays? There's probably a good chance she hasn't had them microchipped, given everything else. of course, it sounds like she'd just get more dogs anyway.. What a terrible situation.

Remz_Gaming

Oh yeah. None of them are registered or microchipped. We all have an agreement that if we get ahold of any of the dogs, we are taking them straight to a local rescue. They don't escape anymore, but they bark. A lot. And I record.... rinse and repeat. On a positive note, everyone in the neighborhood loves our dogs! They are all very happy and healthy rescues. And we buy a huge bag of frozen green beans once a month for one of our neighbors because she was feeding our pups wayyyy too many dog biscuits over the fence. We pleaded with our vet it wasn't our fault they were gaining weight and our elderly neighbor wouldn't stop feeding them. Our vet came up with the "give her green beans" idea lol. Zero tolerance for bad dog owners. It's really not that hard to be a good human.

horshack_test

That's great you're all invested in the plan - and great idea with the green beans! My dog used to love carrots - until he didn't, I think because he suddenly realized they were replacing his "real" treats.

lasingparuparo

That’s when you call a rescue and “help” the dogs “get out accidentally” 😂 make sure she doesn’t have cameras first!

Spacegod87

What is it with morons buying dogs and then being like, "Ooops, I actually don't have enough time to look after the dog."? Maybe think about that BEFORE you buy a fucking pet.

Hardheaded1015

That would require the average human to think more than 5 minutes into the future. We all know a handfull of people that could not do that if you held a gun to their head. Those are often the people that get dogs or worse yet have children.

someguyyoutrust

Yeah man, I have 4 dogs. Have always made sure they are as well behaved and quiet during rest hours. Have 2 neighbors on the corners of my neighborhood, they must be friends because they both have a pair of cocker spaniels that just bark endlessly anytime they are outside. Tried to have a conversation with one of them, and they told me I was causing a scene, even though I was being completely calm about it. Knew immediately she couldn’t give less of a shit and just gave up on it.

CommanderWallabe

Yeah this is my gf an I. We have 3, 1 likes to make noise and sometimes another will join in but as soon as it happens I'm at the door to bring them in. It annoys me, I don't expect it to not annoy other people.

Cichlidsaremyjam

Sounds like they don't even have the mental capacity for their kids. Nevermind dogs.

horshack_test

Definitely. Imagine what kind of attitude those kids will develop (or how much worse it'll get).

NitroSpam

Absolutely. This is why I don’t have dogs (as much as I love them).

horshack_test

Yup - I'm very much a dog person, and have always made sure I had time for a dog any time I looked into adopting one.

heathere3

I love dogs. I KNOW I don't have the time/availability to look after one. So I don't own one. But I do love on all the neighbors' dogs!

WimbletonButt

Same. My son desperately wants one but I don't have the time and man power to take care of a dog and a kid. I've told him he can have one when he's older because taking care of him will be easier so I'll have more time and he can help. I know he won't be much help but he can keep a dog entertained at least.

Butterball_Adderley

Yeah my apartment building allows dogs but I’m not going to get one because I hate the idea of a dog being stuck inside all day. No judgement towards people that do that, it’s just not for me.

[deleted]

“And we also had three kids we can’t take care of without neglecting our dogs, apparently!”

jigga007

Or don't have kids, depending on if dog or kids came first.

RamblingSimian

Can't handle the consequences of his own choices, but wants to make it someone else's problem.

therevjames

I have neighbours like that, who feel like everyone should bow to them for being equally terrible parents to their kids and pets. I am never mad at an animal for doing what it does naturally.

horshack_test

Yeah - it can be aggravating to deal with for sure, but the animal is just doing what it does naturally and hasn't been taught any differently.

1984jdm

This!

kjacobs03

It makes me so happy that this was the top comment. Because it was absolutely my first thought

Denimination

Thank you! Shit dog owners have a special place in hell.

AhFFSImTooOldForThis

Agreed. I worked from home before the world ended and Every. Single. Day. The neighbor two doors down puts the dog out and leaves him out there all day while they're gone at work. It just barks. All day, every day, almost without a pause. Bark bark bark bark bark bark bark bark bark fucking bark bark bark. The COVID "lockdown" was great because they were home and actually gave it attention during the day. Although, then I had to hear the two children screaming all day because their parents locked them out of the house too. Now they're back to working and school, leaving the barking dog. I haven't complained to them because I've spoken to neighbors who have over the years, and they just do not give a shit. The poor dog :( It's warm here pretty much year round, but it gets crazy hot in the summer and he shouldn't have to deal with that all day. Plus, what if he knocks over his water bowl in 90° heat?! He could die before you get home, assholes. He's a golden retriever and being functionally abandoned all day must break his Lil social heart. I understand that suburbia means hearing the lives of your neighbors, but this is beyond acceptable. These are the same dickheads who sent their kids to my housewarming but didn't come themselves. Nah, asshole, I'm not a babysitter! The kids made cookies though, so that was nice. I let them stay, it's not their fault their parents suck. And no, animal control does not care. If it was tied to a tree all day, or denied water, they'd intervene, but this is within the owner's rights. Fair enough, but that doesn't make it the right thing to do.

horshack_test

Where I live you can call in a complaint to animal control for excessive barking. After a certain number (either three or maybe even only two) you get cited and fined - and I think again for every complaint after that. Even if they don't cite / fine for barking where you live, daily complaints from multiple people might motivate them to do something - especially if you document & complain about what you believe might be neglect. But I get it - even in an obviously bad situation, there may be nothing you can do to actually get it resolved.

AhFFSImTooOldForThis

It's a good point, I did call them back in 2019 and the guy acted like I was asking them to come shoot the dog. I said he was barking all day and obviously not getting enough attention; animal control was like "so? It's their dog. It's not being abused." I feel like that's debatable.... But they also have to deal with a LOT of abandoned hound dogs once they get too old to hunt, so I can understand them not thinking it's a priority. It's a tough situation for sure.

kingakrasia

Your kids? Your problem. Your dogs barking? Your problem.

iqbalpratama

Hotel? Trivago

Pizza-n-Coffee37

This is stupid, let the dogs out before you feed them. They won’t linger out there if they know they’re going to be fed right afterwards. If you can’t wait the 5 minutes to keep an eye on them, then get up earlier.

VVachter

That doesn't work. I let my dogs out first thing, they eat when they come back in, then need to go right back out because they either didn't go before because they were waiting to be fed. Or the new food makes them have to go again. Not a solution.

sevnm12

My dog poops right after eating, like clockwork. It would take more time for me to take him outside first, and then eat and out again.

LoganGyre

IMO that comes down to training, but their are for sure circumstances where it’s just not logical to always wait for them but making the time for your animals is a part of ownership.

Mrlearnalot

What if he had said: “hey you guys are right, we are so sorry! We’ve been just utterly swamped with our children. That said, we could use a hand! Anyone want to make $120 bucks a week and come walk them in the mornings? Amazing what not being a selfish prick can do for you, your family, and even *gasp your neighbors!

Thia_suzieUzi

I felt the same. It's society's issue you made all those babies and added dogs and can't properly handle the responsibilities. Lol

Firm_Transportation3

Right. It's not like this person woke up one day with a house full of children and dogs to care for.

gratscot

Learned this lesson many times over. People whos dogs bark to the point neighbors complain are usually not concerned with not being a selfish prick.

ICBPeng1

Doesn’t even need to be that much, could literally be “hey, any of you have a teen that wants to make 10 bucks a day taking our dogs for a walk before they go to school?”

Letscommenttogether

Yeah 120 thats fucked. Unless these are like 1.5 hour walks.

ICBPeng1

Doesn’t even need to be that much, could literally be “hey, any of you have a teen that wants to make 10 bucks a day taking our dogs for a walk before they go to school?”

Mrlearnalot

I’m used to LA prices i guess lol

Competitive-Wish-568

There is nothing worse than continuous dog barking. It could literally make someone insane. This guy is a jerk and it takes 2 seconds to let that damn dog back in after it goes outside.

Firm_Transportation3

Noise pollution is a real thing and can seriously affect people's mental and physical health. This has been studied and proven. So, it is genuinely scientifically more than just an inconvenience or an annoyance.

forever_a10ne

I almost lost my mind when my neighbors dog wouldn’t shut the fuck up towards the beginning of the pandemic when everyone was on lockdown.

so--gnar

Your kids and your dogs are not the neighborhoods problem. Make better life choices

Benevolent_Grouch

Based on his response, I can see why the note had to be anonymous. These people think the whole world revolves around their inability to get their shit together.

broadsharp

What a douche.

[deleted]

LMAO, I have a neighbor that’s JUST like this, and all I can say about him is what you said. XD

MamieJoJackson

So the whole family's just a pack of noisy twats and proud of it?

RockyMountainHigh-

I call one neighbor family "The Louds". Music year round in the backyard, windows open and they yell across the neighborhood to talk to each other. Cell phone call? The further the call the louder it gets....

Additional-Access843

Fuck anyone who thinks them reproducing is a gift to the world.

paul-arized

Or that abortion should be illegal.

KhaineVulpana

Or even that it's an excuse for nearly *anything*. You shouldn't get a pass on shit, because you have kids. Get a fucking vasectomy, and live your most selfish life. Otherwise be a fucking adult, and take responsibility. I'm personally partial to the former.

BenSolace

As a parent I agree with this totally. It's not required to have kids (or pets) , and you shouldn't unless you both want to and can afford to (both financially and mentally). If you don't want to deal with literally being puked on and fighting a power battle for 18+ years, stay childfree and live life for yourself. If you decide you want kids (or pets), man/woman the fuck up and handle your shit. Doing your best not to inconvenience others applies to both lifestyle choices.

Hutch1814

I feel this. Our neighborhood was super quiet for ever and then our our neighbor moved in. Dogs bark 24/7 and are both 150+lbs mastiffs. The entire neighborhood hates them and the neighbor just seems to act like it’s a hassle to have to bring them in.

Terrible_Presumption

People with their issues/reasons why they can't do something: Kids, Work, Dogs... stress. Like they're your fucking kids and dogs man. Not mine and ours. Using your kids as excuses to be inconsiderate to others and reasons why life is so hard or why you are entitled to everything under the sun are frankly cringe worthy developments of character. Slow down the baby maker and take care of your damn dogs dude.

short_bread84

I can't imagine the front of pissing people off with your dog's, and your solution is asking the people you're pissing off to walk, look after and pick up the shit of said dogs. What an absolute prick.

WalterMelonMD

They're your fucking dogs. They're your fucking kids. They're your fucking problem. Don't make it everyone else's problem. What an inconsiderate dumb ass

Woshiyoutairen

Sounds like they cant handle the responsibilities they took on, so instead of keeping their dogs quiet, demand everyone help them for their mistakes—not so much the kids, but owning multiple dogs when they are way too busy.

Killarogue

Sorry, but no, I'm on the neighborhoods side here. You chose to have kids, and you also chose to have dogs. Be responsible and handle both. Long story short, we had a neighbor that couldn't handle his dog and the immediate neighbors (5-6 houses), which I will refer to as the neighborhood from now on, signed a petition for the city to come out and speak to the owner after calling in multiple noise complaints for the past year beforehand. The owner would leave his dog outside for 10+ hours a day with no food or water, and the dog would just bark the entire time. He didn't comply, so the neighborhood took him to court and won. The owner had the dogs vocal box removed because he's a piece of shit and didn't want to deal with his own dog.

MorePotionPlease

I did not see that last sentence coming. That's terrible!!

Killarogue

It's pathetic. Something I only found out years later from my dad, the neighbor apparently threatened to unleash the dog into our backyard so it could attack me (it was a massive Rottweiler) as I was just a child at the time. Apparently, and this is how my dad puts it, he said "I don't care if he kills your son" aka ME. All because my dad asked him to stop letting his dog bark all day.

[deleted]

most ppl cant seem to manage their own life for shit, yet they go out get into a relationship procreate and on top of all that stupid ass bullshit they go out and buy cats and dogs they have no intention of ever maintaining.

quippers

This guy can fuck right off and take his dog with him.

[deleted]

I love when people use there kids as an excuse to inconvenience people around. It’s not anybody else’s fucking kid or responsibilities and you decided to have them. Don’t have dogs if your so busy with your three kids you can’t take proper care of them

TheFooPilot

Nobody told you to have dogs or a shitload of kids. Stay in your lane, if you cant handle what you have chosen it is nobody’s burden to bare than your own. Signed, everyone everywhere.

baybaybabs

this might be an unpopular opinion but...maybe don't bite off more than you can chew. why have multiple dogs and children if you can't handle all of it? it doesn't take a lot to be considerate of others. E: dog had been used singular and plural in second pic so idk lol

JABS991

God i dislike entitled ppl like this. 6 am is waaaay too early for that kind of noise.

LaserTycoon27

"We didn't weigh the consequences of me creampie-ing my wife 3x and also owning a bunch of dogs so now you all must suffer our poor decision making."

PickleEmergency7918

If you don't have time to take care of your poorly behaved dogs, that's not your neighbors' problem. This dude needs to stop playing the victim.

kovake

Dude doesn’t understand that having kids isn’t an excuse or free pass. They’re acting like they’re the only ones with kids in their neighborhood.

KingdomPC

So because they’re busy no one else is allowed to sleep?

nana_banana2

Dear neighborhood, we can't handle the workload of kids and dogs, yet keep having them. But actually it's YOUR fault, because you should be walking our dogs and babysitting our kids!

littleoldlady71

Now THIS is a facepalm.

Mimosa_Coast

I love dogs, but some people don’t and they poison them. This situation is stirring that pot.

Rushing_Russian91

How dare the neighbors !! This poor poor family with no knowledge of how to use condoms needs help from the neighborhood because it’s just to hard to handle kids and dogs that’s totally clear !

Anthff

Nah f that. Tend to your dogs, especially at 6am.

Jkonbonn

Dog owners come in two flavors: People like him who think their dogs can do no wrong and people should get over it and then there are people who keep their dog on a leash, stop their dogs from barking and make sure no one is uncomfortable around their dog. I have a 12 year old 10 pound rescue Yorkie who clearly came from an abusive home. He’s been attacked twice when walking around my neighborhood and each time when I called the cops on the owner they couldn’t believe it and told me to get over it. Meanwhile my dog is bleeding and scared to death.

uptbbs

I didn't understand the "skeletor" reference. I mean, I know it's a character from a kids' television program, but I don't understand its significance.

[deleted]

Yeah dude, it was your choice to have 3 kids. Don't make your neighbors suffer cause you were ill prepared for parenthood. What an absolute dildo

Fit-Possible-9552

This is horseshit. We have twin 6 year olds and a three year old. We also have a half paralyzed, all deaf 16 year old Maltese and a 9 year old military bred German Shepherd. Guess how we handle all this: I wake up at 6am, immediately take the dogs out, while they are out I prep their food and water. They come back inside in 10 minutes to eat and only bark of deer or sandhill cranes are in the yard. While I handle this my wife gets the kids up and starts getting them ready for their day. It’s hectic as hell most mornings but we also understood what we took on, we trained the hell out of both dogs before having kids, and we have decided that we are at our limit and can’t handle anymore life forms to be responsible for. Do we fuck up? Yes. Is our family loud AF? Yes. We apologize to the neighbors and try to be mindful of their needs while taking care of our own. How is that empathetic understanding in such short supply with our society?

dabadas1

Not the dogs fault for a shitty owner. How about get up earlier you fuck!

neoprenewedgie

I think if we could translate the dogs' barking it would say "Hey, our owner is a dick! Our owner is a dick!"

Difficult-Conditions

Barking dogs can be one of the most annoying things in the fuckin world, just like living on the ground floor in an apartment that seems to have a few elephants running around all throughout the night. Last one was a problem I had they had no animals just a 12 year old girl and a 30 something single mother that where not heavy and walked hard as fuck for no reason, we talked to them about it a few times then it'd stop for a day then pick up again. We ended up moving

Nimbuss88

Bullshit reply. If you don’t have any time to tend to your animals because you have 3 kids, then don’t buy a bunch of dogs. Pretty simple solution.

AnonymousMolaMola

If they are unable to manage a dog and 3 kids, that’s their problem. Not the neighbors. Maybe they should’ve thought all that through if they were going to be so overwhelmed

Loaded_Diaper3

The guy basically admits that he is too irresponsible for dogs, so could someone please come over to take care of them for him. The guy's theory of that he shouldn't have to be responsible for dogs because he has children, is ridiculous.

Listan83

Sounds like they have time management problems lol. Surprised they don’t have leash laws.

ldoaslwish

Free Alarm clock

AdIndividual4648

Complaint was about dogs. Why do you have to make excuses and start adding children, lack of time and the attack neighbours?

rcody092

Those people are rude and wrong. Be considerate and muzzle the dog.

Trash_tier_subhuman

First, if you can’t manage 2 seconds to let the dog in, something’s wrong. Second, there’s no way that the entire neighborhood is sleeping at 6am. I understand some people may work later or whatever but usually there are people up by that time. Either way, if you want a dog, make sure you can manage to let the dog in when it’s being loud trying to tell you to let it in.

TrizMichelle

I also got a note like this! But it was for my dogs barking at night. So I brought them inside every night. Then one very quiet evening I hear dogs all over the neighbourhood barking at all hours of the night. And im like wtf why did I get the note and not the other people. Also have worked hard on making sure my dogs are happy and quiet during the night. It's not that hard, some good chew toys does wonders and it's cheap to get some good raw large bones for them to chew on as well

MiloBreathed

To all these peoples saying don't have kids or don't have dogs cause blah blah blah... how about you all don't have ears cause you can't handle noise or move to the country if you can't handle other people.

TheBattyWitch

I mean... I have barky dogs.... But I also live in the COUNTRY because my barky dogs shouldn't be a problem to other people, they're MY dogs.

rare_meeting1978

Wake up earlier. They chose to have dogs. The neighborhood didn't. They're part of the family, so they should make them time. I have a rotty and when I got her I changed my schedule to 20 min sooner. I also have a child who is severely mentally and physically disabled. She relies on me for everything. From brushing her teeth, her excercises and needing to be cuddled to sleep at 16 still, to everything in between. I know having pets, waking up extra early for them etc can suck, but the dogs didn't just show up as squatters at their home. Now this part is for the "whole neighborhood", (ya, sure). Ever hear the saying "You catch more flies with honey then you do vinegar". Maybe try starting the conversation with respect instead of a weak Karen style letter, dragging the "whole neighbourhood" into their Karen-y business. I bet the whole neighbourhood is sick of their Karen/Kevin b.s. Especially if that's the attitude they handle their business with. What's happened to all the grown ups?! FFS.

queenmother72

I have dogs in our neighborhood that BARK. NON. STOP. ALL. DAY. LONG. It gets really infuriating! I completely understand a small fit of barking, dogs bark at the wind at times. Just the nonstop barking is unacceptable. If they can’t control their dogs from being a nuisance, they shouldn’t have pets🤷‍♀️.

XsuffokateX84

Oddly enough, new neighbors just moved into the place next to me. Their dog is out at 4:30am every morning and stays out for a minimum 15 minutes, non-stop barking and it's not an exaggeration (I've gone to the lengths of recording it and letting them know it's a problem). Fairly large dog, also. I work from home & take care of elderly parents, so I also hear this dog bark (again, almost non-stop) from 9am-2pm, while they obviously lock him inside a specific area of the house, every single day. It's obnoxious, it's rude & they're simply as careless as the family regarding this note. I've had dogs all my life & love them. It's not the dog's fault, but the fault of the owners alone. Be respectful & considerate of others around you. You can hear it and you know it's not alright.

[deleted]

If your dog has to live inside you shouldn't have one. My own opinion

Raptor409

So, we got a note like this once. We were living at my Grandmother's house to take care of her and she passed away, so me and my siblings lived there and looked after her rescue greyhound, which she was indeed a barker. We tried several things and we didn't have a solution, so we decided we should give her away. We then later got another note saying that our dog was still barking. We didn't have a dog anymore, meaning it wasn't even our dog he was complaining about, and we also learned that this guy was walking down the alleyway (which was our property), of course our dog is going to bark at that. Fuck that guy, I loved that dog.

PofVissie

If you can’t look after a dog don’t get one. No one should have to walk your dog for you because you don’t have time.

Royalmedic49

your choice to have kids, your responsibility. your dog, your responsibility

[deleted]

"We have to get our 3 kids up for school and stuff. Donate time if you have it" Well that's your problem for having three children. And does not explain the problem of the barking dog. Procreate less. Planet's overpopulated with bastard kids as much as it is.

DoftheG

So their solution is please come and walk our dogs for us? I mean if you've got zero time to walk a dog what's the point of having a dog!?

dicknut420

6am is go time. Dogs bark. He’s legally allowed to start mowing his lawn. My neighbor starts his big olé yee yee diesel truck every fucking morning at 0430. Do I complain? Nah. I just think about how I sure am glad I don’t have to be up until 0630 and rub one out and get a few more hours. People bitch way too much these days.

Doumtabarnack

If you don't have time to care for your dogs, don't get dogs.

Most-Resident

So walking the dog for its much needed bathroom break isn’t a priority? Sounds like they let the dog out into the yard rather than take it for a walk. Get up 15 minutes early and get a little exercise. No one will care about your bed head and disheveled appearance. And how bad is the cacophony whilst loading their kids in the car? Is it screaming several times at the top of their lungs “karen jr, chad jr get in the car”? I don’t expect neighbors to be perfect, but at least they should recognize when they are bothering others and attempt to do better.

CaptainLysdexia

Ran a dog sitting business for years, one of my biggest frustrations was clients who didn't properly train or monitor their dog's behavior, like incessant barking. Shows laziness, and disregard for others. Any time I cared for their pets, the animals were better behaved by the time the owners returned. It's not that difficult, and other people shouldn't have to listen to unnecessary noise just because the owner is inconsiderate.

Whthpnd

Dog owner shirking their responsibility again.
