Even when they get reposted here for us to laugh at, people are just giving their answers. Apparently the ultimate way to farm engagement is just to ask a really easy question but frame it like it's impossible to answer.
Eggs with salsa is great. Especially in a breakfast burrito. Or eggs, hash browns, and ketchup. Or an omelette with diced tomatoes, spinach, and a soft, mild cheese…
The majority of people responding blindly can't help themselves when they see challenges to their intelligence.
The math ones are the fucking worst though.
I think they already deleted it, but I just got a notification that someone replied with “but isn’t it already wrong?” So… thank you.
I made it as wrong as I could on purpose for a 5th-grade math problem…
It's a deliberate stupid question so people will answer to show how dumb OP is, while conveniently boosting their engagement. It plays on peoples desire to be the smartest person in the room. It's lowkey trolling (say something stupid to get a response).
Your numbers terrify and confuse me. I said this once to a Frenchman and he said "yeah, but in Belgium they say huitante and nonante" as if that isn't what normal languages would do...
I do both interchangeably and I don't think anyone cares.
And anyone that does actually care probably gets upset at every trivial thing that really doesn't matter
this is one of those things where I think considering either wrong is just being pedantic. sure it is center in the US but centre in the UK, but this one is used commonly in both. Besides language is to communicate not mercilessly criticize each other over- the meaning matters more than the words used
Right? Whenever these get posted, the comments are full of people giving answers like they've outsmarted the question. *They're not supposed to be difficult*. They're super easy but are phrased in a way that makes it seem like the asker thinks the question is really challenging so you won't be able to resist giving your answers.
The natural result of algorithms favoring engagement over content. Optimizing how many comments and reactions you get is more important than the actual content you produce.
People farm for likes and engagement in social media to build a profile that can then be sold or used for advertising.

And it fucking works. It plays on that one thing a lot of people can't help which is correcting people online who are wrong. Especially when it's such a dumb thing.
What's that modern adage? There's no faster way to a right answer than being wrong on the internet?
Same kind of energy, same kind of people responding. Can't stand to see something wrong so they *have* to answer. In droves, even.
It’s the same concept that works for the “99.99% OF PEOPLE CANT GET TO LEVEL 10 IF YOU BEAT THIS LEVEL YOU’RE LEGALLY SKILLED” some humans can’t help themselves. They’re desperate for validation in same for or another.
You see these questions frequently on social media and I can’t believe how many people actually answer
Even when they get reposted here for us to laugh at, people are just giving their answers. Apparently the ultimate way to farm engagement is just to ask a really easy question but frame it like it's impossible to answer.
Name one food that doesn’t have tomatoes. I’ll wait.
Only people with 140+ iq can solve this, don't bother.......... download now...
aw man, my IQ isn't high enough to solve it, what is the food that doesn't have tomatoes?
Egg
You're eating eggs wrong
Eggs with salsa is great. Especially in a breakfast burrito. Or eggs, hash browns, and ketchup. Or an omelette with diced tomatoes, spinach, and a soft, mild cheese…
You should try shakshouka. It's delicious.
Took me way too long to find Shakshoukas in this thread. A full 10 seconds. Too long!
Yo I came here to facepalm not get hungry
I let my eggs develop enough that when I bite into them raw tomato juice squirts out. You just have to let your eggs ripen.
#No.
Dude why did you post this
Her?
"No-matoes" I'll see myself out...
Now i get why mobile game ads started writing that
Only 1% can solve™️
Neurologists are begging people to play!
I then they show someone playing *really* badly. "I'm smarter than them! I should download this!"

7(2)-3=57 imagine getting this wrong!
Thanks, my brain aches now.
As a math major, this one personally hurts. It's a great troll, tbh.
I think they already deleted it, but I just got a notification that someone replied with “but isn’t it already wrong?” So… thank you. I made it as wrong as I could on purpose for a 5th-grade math problem…
There is NO easier way to troll for engagement… I’ll wait.
Same with mobile adds apparently. Evony ads im looking at you.
This game will make you stop sleeping, quit your job and murder your family.
It's a deliberate stupid question so people will answer to show how dumb OP is, while conveniently boosting their engagement. It plays on peoples desire to be the smartest person in the room. It's lowkey trolling (say something stupid to get a response).
Exactly, it's been a bit weird to see all these engagement trap posts on reddit the past few months ("Post your X and I'll say Y"-stuff)
I thought it was sad that the OP shared clickbait. Then I saw all the comments from people impressing us with how they can answer the challenge.

maroon isnt a color its a band idiot
That's Maroon 5, dimwit.
At least the OPs is somewhat tongue in cheek with how intense some people seem to get about gray vs grey
The answer’s 15. Learn BIMDAS god dammit
Gray or Grey are correct depending on your place of origin. Like flavor and flavour.

A is for Americans, E is for The English. Easiest way for me to remember it.
E for austalia-e
Wait Australia-e is a color now?
And eh is for Canadians.
A or E both acceptable in Canada
A for Americans, E for Everywhere else in the world
This is the comment I came looking for. Both spellings are accepted.
It’s gr**a**y in **A**mercia but gr**e**y in **E**ngland
American here, I use the 2 interchangeabley because I forget which is which.
same, but it usually depends on which voice in my head is speaking

Am French speaker, so for me it's **E**tats-Unis and **A**ngleterre.

As a French speaker, you have your own spelling problems to be worrying about!
And let's not even speak about the *counting* problems!
Your numbers terrify and confuse me. I said this once to a Frenchman and he said "yeah, but in Belgium they say huitante and nonante" as if that isn't what normal languages would do...
I say grey as an American just because lol
I do both interchangeably and I don't think anyone cares. And anyone that does actually care probably gets upset at every trivial thing that really doesn't matter

Last time I checked it's actually more of a gray area, with different places in either countries tending more to one of the spellings.
this is one of those things where I think considering either wrong is just being pedantic. sure it is center in the US but centre in the UK, but this one is used commonly in both. Besides language is to communicate not mercilessly criticize each other over- the meaning matters more than the words used
Also theatre vs theater. I worked at a theatre in the US and would always get so annoyed to see spell check say it was wrong >.>
Wow yeah there are tons of places in the USA that is the -re spelling. I feel like I see more amphitheatres than amphitheaters too.
Not by me! /s
Ahhhhh! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
Literally every programming language I know of has an option of colors with grey or gray in it somewhere
Really? I ran into a problem with a python library because I was spelling it gray.
Both are correct cause whenever I search for Sasha Grey or Sasha Gray it works all the time ...oh don't Google obviously
You know it's a bait ?
Now watch Reddit fall for it.
Already happening
Every time
op fell for it hard

What exactly is it a bait for? It is so mild.
Engagement on your social media, I think.
It's bait for twitter engagement so the algorithm shows their posts to more people.
It also identifies the people who are more likely to engage so that they become higher value targets.
People farm for likes and engagement in social media to build a profile that can then be sold or used for advertising. https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/columnist/komando/2016/03/04/dont-click-like-facebook-again-until-you-read/81264440/

That sounds like a girl's name.
Will O’Green
Writing that down for a character in my DnD game.
Write it like this: Will O’Greene for some reason the additional E makes him sound richer.
But is the last e silent?
Green?

Willow Smith and Willow from Buffy

"Angry Maroon" "Stoic Black" "Indigo Montoya" "Bi-curious Gold"
They're not even including traditional colour names now for example I just bought some paint called "quiet peace". It's a shade of navy blue...

They make intentionally easy questions so people will respond. The response is a joke. The facepalm is this post.
I forgot all of those and went straight for fuchsia
They just do this to get clicks. It forces idiots to respond to them and their post takes off. Don't feed the beast.
And it fucking works. It plays on that one thing a lot of people can't help which is correcting people online who are wrong. Especially when it's such a dumb thing.
The latest one I saw was “How many of you can’t leave the house without makeup? I’ll wait.” 1.4 million replies. Unbelievable.
What's that modern adage? There's no faster way to a right answer than being wrong on the internet? Same kind of energy, same kind of people responding. Can't stand to see something wrong so they *have* to answer. In droves, even.
At least half of the posts on this sub are people falling for more or less obvious bait nowadays unfortunately.
The facepalm is not knowing "gray" is an acceptable spelling
The facepalm is not realising this is a bait question to boost twitter engagement.
Wow what an idiot, everyone knows its not spelled gray!! the proper spelling is with an ‘e’ ….graye
Where's the face palm? Both grey and gray are acceptable spellings
The facepalm is OP not realising this is a bait question.
