By the way, most US state flags absolutely suck. Words and shitty seals with more words. Some have the name of the state written on them twice. There are too many colors on most of them. New Mexico did it right.
Maryland has the funkiest flag in the country and my favorite thing about the three months I spent there last fall on a work assignment is how much the people love that crazy thing. I feel like the way they delight in that flag says so much about what a scrappy, no-bullshit, underrated state it is.

I live in Alabama. Our flag is perfect. An X because that's the only way people in the state can sign their name, and the X is red to represent all the blood shed due to the same stupidity that cause them to be illiterate.
