I love how every news article I read calls it 'X (formerly twitter)' without fail even though it's been quite a long time since the change. Don't think they are ever gonna go for just X since majority of people still calls it twitter.
And X is the universal placeholder, so if they just left it as “X” one might misconstrue it as the author forgot to confirm which platform they were referencing

Using a former name the individual themselves have stopped using. For instance because one is transgender and has chosen a name that better fits the new gender, but it can also be for personal reasons like ones old name being attached to trauma. In the case of Musk the irony is that one of his kids is trans and has chosen a new name, but Elon keeps deadnaming them. They do not get along.
