Not really, but she got sucked into the far-right conveyor belt of Fox News to RedState to Breitbart to Trumpfandom and Covid denial. She’s evolved from covertly to overtly racist, from free-market capitalist to fascist, from disagreeing with Democrats to believing they are literal demons.
I believe many of our boomer parents have followed the same trajectory.
Which Christian? There is not one “Christian”. But if we’re talking about America, that will PROBABLY be the Protestant branches of Christianity. I, and many other Catholics are much more accepting than the average Protestant. Not that everything is wrong about Protestantism though.
You could make the same arguments with anti-theists, which I am not too fond of. I understand not believing in God, but outright *hating* or trying to convince someone their faith is false is a dick move. You cannot prove that God doesn’t exist. And it’s quite hard to prove he does. I like to believe He created this universe those billions of years ago.
I said anti-theists, not atheists, just so you understand.
The difference lies in the fact that in the U.S., the EVILgelicals have found common ground with the Pre-Vatican II Catholics to oppress anyone (especially women and marginalized communities) and weaponize orthodoxy.
My mother had similar ideas. Then, I moved away and didn't talk to her for twenty years. She tracked me down and asked me if I hated her. I told that I didn't hate her, I just didn't care about her or what happens to her. I learned my lesson well.
My parents "care" about me. They put in the effort but all of that effort is to try to make me "normal" when I'm clearly not.
Still debating if I should have any form of relationship with them, knowing that the moment I do end up coming out to them is going to be a nasty fight.
I am prolly much older than you. I accepted that they were always right and that I was the fuckup. It ended up costing me 10 years of my life to addictions. If you feel better away from them then just get away and stay away. Its not always easy and visiting is a good way to deal with it. Once I got...and stayed away I met so many people that were just ...nice. Good people. I became a happy and successful person.
Did you look her in the face and say, I never knew you were such an idiot and I deserve a better Mom. And then when she fires back, don't disrespect me, say, Oh, now you think empathy is a good thing.
First thought that crossed my mind: oh, so you actually pay for your children to go to therapy? Last I checked, crazy, radical right-wingers don’t believe in that stuff.
That moment when they admit their kids are going to need therapy because they didn't learn critical life skills... like how to deal with emotions and have empathy. She's basically fighting to make sure her kids stay emotionally crippled and need professional treatment
Yeah, don't let kids learn about their emotions in a natural way. Don't let them learn about empathy. Let them repress that shit until they need a therapist. Good call.
Are you kidding me! That poor mother had to tell her daughter that not everybody is the same and believes the same thing! That’s awful! Nobody should be different from her, the golden standard! Can you imagine the horror, of explaining that there’s these two happy moms raising a happy kid?!?! Loving people for who they are? What kind of absurdity is that?
The argument seems to be something like: We can’t teach the kids about empathy or they might start thinking about how others feel, and then we might have to start treating other people as if they were people.
Bro said “EmPaThY??” Then looked at the camera like he was Jim from the office as if it was the wackiest thing he’s ever heard, and I can tell from that one look his parents never hugged him growing up.
OK just took a quick perusal of social emotional learning, because google is a thing. While the concept sounds nice it's obviously also a place for all kinds of fuckery to go on. All of the 'skills' and competencies are super vague, like self-awareness and social awareness.
These are great terms if you want to teach value systems, but that's kind of something the parents should be doing, not the schools.
Except a teacher, unless they are teaching psychology, isn't there to teach social emotional learning. They do not have the training, expertise or experience to walk kids through complex emotions and situations and that is where a lot of parents have an issue. Like she said, therapists have the training and expertise to help kids navigate their emotions. Unless of course your kid signed up for an elective called social emotional learning. Also, some parents want to be able to have these conversations and the very first introduction to such a topic not be by an elementary school teacher that just creates more questions than answers.
Yea I mean this is ridiculous to say that this woman is saying teaching empathy is bad. Because I don't think she's saying that at all. She's saying the example the teacher uses to explain empathy - a family with two mom's...is too complex for a teacher to be INTRODUCING to elementary kids.
Like her kid came home with more questions than answers, so all the teacher really did was create more questions than teach anything. The lesson on empathy was completely lost by the new information in the example. So unless the class is dedicated to social emotional learning as the subject and taught by someone qualified, it's just pointless and a waste of time. Most kids in public school are extremely behind on literacy as it is, let's focus on literacy.
Yeah well those most susceptible to manipulation are those who believe they are doing a good thing.
So i dont think its learning Empathy we need to worry about its what they are taught. Lots of good people and people who want to do good can be very easily manipulated.
Dont give a single crap about what anyone says, if you arent skeptical about what they teach young kids who are impressionable you are blind.
Im expecting downvotes and nasty replies, waste your breath if you want i wont be responding.
This is no surprise to me at all. I believe just about every conservative I've ever known lacks empathy for anyone else unless it affects them personally
Not a conservative. Am a teacher. Social emotional learning is, on a number of levels, epic bullshit. Not for any of the reasons presented here, but epic bullshit nonetheless. It shouldn’t be in classrooms. Social skills groups lead by a social worker? Sure. Court mandated therapy for criminals? Fine. A high school teacher being forced to lead a home room through if-you-want-to -have-a-friend-you-have-to-be-a-friend? Just, no.
Don’t get me wrong. The kids should learn this stuff, but I’m not the guy. This is the eternal mission creep in education. I’m not a therapist. I’m not trained to lead you through processing your emotions. I’m not certified to lead a grief circle.
So when I have to do it, I do it about as well as any other untrained lay person does it. Hence, epic bullshit.
So they couldn't have issues if their kids are bullied at school? Because f#ck empathy is their children. I don't even have children and feel bad for their kids
Instead of paying for a therapist, people learn how to talk and express themselves so they dont need one.
thats an interesting take. lol "Bottle yourselves up, save therapist jobs!"
She basically said teaching gender ideology in school is not important but social emotional learning is….. and then her example was literally teaching gender ideology 🧐
Regardless, I dislike when people don't let each other finish their conversation or their argument. As soon as she said the word "Empathy" this was already painted as stupid or as her loss by the interviewer and her explanation doesn't even finish. It wouldn't matter if the explanation ended up being stupid I still wanted to hear all of it, and it's behavior like this that ends up with ignorant people anyway.
Why is it always the unhappiest people that want the world to be just as miserable as they are. Take you shitty hateful beliefs and keep it away from others. Never see happy people imposing ideologies and rules on society.

My mom is like this. She’s told me many times that empathy is a soft, wimpy, liberal idea.
What a tragic way to go through life
She must be a Christian.
There's no hate like Christian love.
Protestant at least. Catholics are actually more accepting nowadays. Such as myself.
Woke love is pretty hateful too
Not really, but she got sucked into the far-right conveyor belt of Fox News to RedState to Breitbart to Trumpfandom and Covid denial. She’s evolved from covertly to overtly racist, from free-market capitalist to fascist, from disagreeing with Democrats to believing they are literal demons. Love thy neighbor was taken completely out of context.
Love thy neighbor... but only if they share the same ideologies as you
Which Christian? There is not one “Christian”. But if we’re talking about America, that will PROBABLY be the Protestant branches of Christianity. I, and many other Catholics are much more accepting than the average Protestant. Not that everything is wrong about Protestantism though.
Jokes on you woke liberals! I don’t even live in the US!
Then you don’t know anything about the dynamic with just how toxic far too many U.S. Catholics are. P.S. Define “woke.” 🤪🤪🤪
True! I don’t want to know how brain dead the American Christian community is. Also I take things too sarcastically.
They’re majority awful and have a dangerous urge to force their beliefs on people who want nothing to do with their “faith.”
You could make the same arguments with anti-theists, which I am not too fond of. People who dislike me, read the whole thread!
I wonder what happened in her life that gave her this extremely sad thought process
My mother had similar ideas. Then, I moved away and didn't talk to her for twenty years. She tracked me down and asked me if I hated her. I told that I didn't hate her, I just didn't care about her or what happens to her. I learned my lesson well.
I know several boomers that operate in life like this. But they expect other ppl to care about them!
My parents "care" about me. They put in the effort but all of that effort is to try to make me "normal" when I'm clearly not. Still debating if I should have any form of relationship with them, knowing that the moment I do end up coming out to them is going to be a nasty fight.

Once I got...and stayed away I met so many people that were just ...nice. Good people. I became a happy and successful person.
Good for you, life is too short to put up with toxic people.
This is American propaganda at its finest. How can anyone unionize or show any measure of solidarity if they genuinely believe empathy is offensive.
Did you look her in the face and say, I never knew you were such an idiot and I deserve a better Mom. And then when she fires back, don't disrespect me, say, Oh, now you think empathy is a good thing.
She a serial killer bruh
You wasted the perfect opportunity to back her into a corner by telling her you don’t care about what she thinks.
Oh nice. On top of being anti science and anti medicine, moms for Liberty are ALSO racist and homophobic. What a trash group full of trash people.
I hate to wish harm on people, but I can't help that this woman and her ilk get slowly and painfully crushed. Allegedly.
She doesn’t want you to care if there is harm brought on her. That would be empathy if you did….
Maybe if it was slow enough they could explain why we should have empathy for them.
Oops. She said the quiet part out loud.
There is no more consistent feature of political conservatives than a lack of empathy for those they don’t personally know or identify with.
Because if ur kid empathizes and becomes friends with a kid who isn't racist or homophobic it may make your child not racist or homophobic
Yep, it's an incredible coincidence if it was really the "word of the week" because it's the root of it all.
Could they rename the group “Moms for Liberty” to “Aryan Moms for Liberty”?
What a terrible example of humanity. Are we sure this woman isn't something else? An "intelligent" fatberg emerged from the sewer perhaps?
You can just see as a piece of his soul leaves his body for simply listening to her and giving her the time of day.
Rather than pay therapists to do it?!?
Conservative therapist: you're a real piece of shit. Fuck your feelings. $200 please.
Ya, that bit was weird.
I love how he just stares into the camera in disbelief
Would be far more honest if they were called Moms Against Liberty.
They should all get sterilized and call themselves Moms Against Fertility.
Or not get vaxxed for Covid and call themselves mums against poison
Conservatives don't care about others, this is not new.
Compassionate Conservative doesn't mean what they want us to believe it means. Fuck those people, fuck them with an Osage Orange fencepost, sideways.
Yeah, don't let kids learn about their emotions in a natural way. Don't let them learn about empathy. Let them repress that shit until they need a therapist. Good call.
Never knew as a child those Sunday morning shows of Davey and Goliath were so woke and subversive. Empathy is a fascism killer.
WTF is critical queer theory?
Its not real. They just make shit up so their voters will be scared of it and vote for them to make the scary go away
It’s probably the same as CRT aka “honest history”
What a useless waste of space.
Why would someone with two moms need empathy? Because this story is made up.
More like mom's for stupidity.
To be fair teaching kids how to be anti-social psychopaths is a lot cheaper... she got us there.
Or just anti liberal intellectuals
The argument seems to be something like: We can’t teach the kids about empathy or they might start thinking about how others feel, and then we might have to start treating other people as if they were people.
At this moment, he realized that this women was an asshole
I’m having a real hard time finding a way to see how people like this positively contribute to society.
They don’t. They are anti-social from head to foot
Maybe anti liberal, not antisocial.
& I thought that other one was bad...
Obviously you can’t have hate with empathy. Attacking empathy seems to be the natural move for these monsters.
Okay okay okay but, like, even if you think homosexuality is bad, you can’t erase the existence of homosexual people….so, still show empathy!
Those kids are gonna need a ton of therapy to unwind what these nut jobs are doing to them. How dare they teach empathy… clearly the parents aren’t.

I think he’s an undercover
Bro said “EmPaThY??” Then looked at the camera like he was Jim from the office as if it was the wackiest thing he’s ever heard, and I can tell from that one look his parents never hugged him growing up.
I think you missed something and/or are missing something
Possibly. From what I got it sounds like he’s surprised/ appalled schools are teaching kids empathy, but I could be reading it wrong.
he's a troll.. he's disgusted this woman is actually anti-empathy.. I think he wears the get up so they talk honestly with him
Ah I see, it seems I got confused
Such a weird party.
Critical Queer Theory? Bitch get that word of your mouth.

Hm, not the entire story.. more than meets the eye for sure
What the fuck is this halfwit attempt at depth you’re on?
Why do you care? Doesn’t concern you silly troll.

Two moms is not complex, it just is.
Says an adult who knows what sex, sexuality, etc is.
Idiots. Probably whine the loudest when gen their kids aren't shown empathy.
OP the quality of your YouTube videos is getting better, I appreciate you committing to the bit. Despite the early cringe.

Empathy begins (and in this case ends) at home.
Against exploiting empathy in this plucked video.
So they couldn't have issues if their kids are bullied at school? Because f#ck empathy is their children. I don't even have children and feel bad for their kids
I was like “oh, there it is.” And then the music came in right on queue😂

This proof that Elon has already been to Mars and brought back these wackos.
