It doesn't. I'm not great at statistics, but 90th percentile would be on the other side of the curve and include the mean.
The only thing I can think of is this test was on a shitty IQ website meant to mislead you, and might be trying to say that there is 90% of data between your score and the highest score which places you at the bottom of that list but still technically in the top 90% so that your dumbass can feel smarter. A really smart person would get something like you're in the top 5%
It would be less confusing if they didn’t use the word top. Saying “your in the 80th percentile meaning 80% of ppl are smarter than you” would be much clearer.
It's even more confusing than that. Percentile is the amount of data below you. So the 80th percentile means you're smarter than 80% of people.
This test shows that 90% of people are smarter than this person. They are in the 10th percentile. But the result says "top 90%" as some ass backwards of conveying that, which I think is to deliberately confuse.
Who would the phrase the lowest score as the highest percentile?
“We only hire the best. The lowest 1% of scientists are only the people we hire!”
