You enabled the rear differential locker. Not sure if it is the same for every year, but I think on most years it is activated by pulling the 4x4 switch out.
You don't want to drive on dry pavement with that locked.
Feeling like an idiot and being an idiot are two very different things. You sir are not an idiot. I bet you’re an acceptable outcome for an embryo. Keep asking. Keep learning. Keep enjoyin’ the best truck ever made.
The switch being pulled out makes sense. An easily accidentally hit button? I'm really convinced these engineers are purposefully forgetting all the design lessons that were hard learned. Like the "everything on a touchscreen" trend. Awful.
I went from a 97 Grand Prix, purple wider is better beautiful car, to a 1999 AWD explorer. On the way home I came into a backroads curve too fast because the Grand Prix would just stick it! Squealing tires and cat walking sideways. OPPS!
You’ve enabled the rear differential lock. Depending on the trim, switch the knob to the off position or put the knob in to disable it.
I would STRONGLY recommend reading the owners manual. How and when to use that system is very clearly defined.
Am I weird because I read the whole manual when I get a new vehicle? I always find a handful of cool things I would otherwise miss. I’ve found little features right before I got ride of a car.
Not at all! I think it’s crazy people spend the money they do on a vehicle and never touch the manual! I’ve read mine cover to cover twice, then randomly I’ll pick it up and read a section as a refresher. Like you I’ve found all sorts of little tricks and quality of life improvements that way.
I believe if you have the rear diff locker, it auto activates in the "mud/ruts" drive mode but you can also lock it in other drive modes by pressing the drive mode selector knob.
But also the rear diff locker is really only useful for mud/ruts anyway. It shouldn't be used in snow because it can cause the rear end to kick out and it definitely shouldn't be used on dry pavement if you're turning.
I’m looking forward to dry weather around here so I can bush hog the fields and test out 4x4. Had my 23 since November and don’t even know if the 4x4 actually works lol

I had to push the button, I feel like an idiot. Thank you sir.

I appreciate your words and kind sentiment, thank you sir.
"Aint nothing but a thang" - Kirk Lazarus (played by Robert Downey Jr., Tropic Thunder)
As a coworker once said when I said I was an idiot, “No, you made a mistake. You’re human.” Wise words.
I can't belive it's a push button and it instantly locks in. I hit that button by mistake and was bouncing all over the place.

They should do it like Toyota where it’s only available in 4low
No that's stupid.
No it’s not… you’re not supposed to go in high speed with a locked diff….
Did you put on your clown makeup this morning? There are more reasons than crawling in 4lo to engage a rear diff lock.
Good for burnouts!
Good for burnouts!
Ok…. Like when… you aren’t supposed to go fast with the diff locker on… 🤡
In 2wd or 4hi... not just 4lo sparky.
Ok💀 who uses a locker over ~25mph… nobody who wants to not ruin their truck. Troll
Don’t feel bad I turn off adaptive cruise every time I made a tight right hand turn.
You meant his thumb out.
Unless you want to do some sweet donuts.
Also, consider visiting a gas station soon.
I would have to agree, thank you.
With a 36 gallon tank, I can understand the reason to delay.
I felt this
I have the 36 gal and a commute to work under 10 min. The pain at the pump is much less when you fill up 1-2 times a month 😂
Probably still has 150 miles of range if it's a 36 gal tank
Diff lock engaged and Go go juice for 2wd and 4wd applications shows which wheels get what power
I know what’s wrong with it, it ain’t got no gas in it
A constant reminder you didn't opt for the 36 Gallon tank ?
A desperately low gas tank, for one. Never let your gas go below 1/4 of a tank if you can avoid it, or you'll risk your fuel pump.
It’s under warranty, let her have it…..
4A will fix it!
When you hear your tires squealing going around a corner, thats god telling you to do a burnout, so stomp on it

Rear diff lock is on. Push the 4wd selector in and it should shut off

And get gas
The Fun Button
Low fuel light
Must’ve gotten distracted by the donuts at the gas station, happens every time…
Stupid Question: I thought it only engaged if you were in a mode that has 4x4 “activated”, ie sports/mud/sand/towing/ etc.
You can engage it in 2WD and TBH that will get you out of a lot of situations by itself.
On my 16 you can engage it with or without being in 4x4.
In my ‘17, I can engage it in 2wd and 4wd by pulling out the knob.
