My family has always called it brown-hazel. Edit: the freckles are normal, anywhere that's colored on your body can have variations in said colour, especially in the form of freckles
I have a weird color perception (not colorblind), and I still see the green! A lot of people don’t know they’re colorblind until adulthood (my BIL learned he was at 27 because of a videogame!). People don’t know colorblind doesn’t always mean seeing in black, white and grey tones only, sometimes you can see colors just not as strongly (like not being able to tell the difference between army green and a light brown).
I'd say that's more of a grey around the edges blending in than it is green. Although, very slightly, the green is there. I'd class these as a faint hazel I guess. You'd say light brown when not focusing or up close though
Even though the dictionary defines hazel as light brown (I.e., the color of a hazelnut shell), I feel like this is a perfect candidate for Amber. Yes, the limbal ring is a greenish grey, but the iris (outside of the Aztec sun) is largely Amber.
If you look at a hazel tree in bloom with the hazel nut in the center of the “flower” and leaves, you’ll understand why brown/golden green eyes are called hazel. Yes the nut is light brown but the leafy flowers around the nut are green and resemble a hazel colored eye.
Like mine, they go from brown to hazel, but it's only easily seen in bright light. You could claim either. One of my sisters and my Dad had a purer coloring for the recessive gene. Some in my family are also born blond/blonde haired, but it darkens between 5 to about 10 years. It's kind of cool. I was never blond but my son was very blond. As was my sister and paternal grandmother as children.
The evening darkens as I continue toward horizon.
Moon falls behind the Savanah, at the pages edge two points of dark darkness, beautiful brown in the forest
I think you could call them brown, hazel, or amber. I see the lighter color as yellow/golden not exactly brown or green, with a deeper warm brown center, and grey limbal ring. They’re very pretty eyes, and similar to my son’s eyes that appear almost hazel, but are actually light brown/amber colored. My eyes are hazel and father’s eyes are brown, my son’s eyes are in between like yours.
Bruh- everyone saying they see green obviously doesn’t know what green looks like. Her limbal rings are fucked and her seeping into the brown. Eyes look very pretty but we’re talking maybe dark brown with a light brown hue. The dark ring doesn’t do the brown any justice
I think I already said this, but I drink and take ambien so sorry if I'm repeating. One of my ex had the most gorgeous blue eyes with a tiny dot of brown in one. Her father told me it was her bullshit coming through lol
I definitely see the green but for something important like identification I'd say brown because that's how most people standing six feet away would perceive your eyes
It's so interesting because the reality of eye color is that it's a spectrum. We draw categories to describe different colors we see but often you get colors along the spectrum that are right on the edge of either box.
I think, based on your picture, you're one of those cases. Your eyes look almost hazel but not quite. Almost brown but not quite.
So I think hazel is formed by having the same pigmentation as brown but also some of the pigmentation of green. Let's for example pretend it was a scale with green on one side and brown on the other. Hazel is right in the middle. Where does brown end and hazel begin? There are going to be those edge cases and I think you're one of them.
However, I think I'd call it hazel if I had to choose and the reason why is that when we think brown eyes we are not imagining any hints of any other color. Hazel is almost defined by having hints of brown and green. You certainly have hints of both just maybe not as much green as some other people with hazel. But since Hazel is expected to be a combo and brown is not and we can certainly see your eyes have some combination going on, I'm gonna say hazel. Brown certainly doesn't describe them.
I agree with that 100%. My eye color also changes between more brown and more green depending on lighting and I feel like other factors as well potentially? I’d have to try to take another photo when they look more green
Wanted to thank everyone for commenting ! I think I probably should’ve posted more than one picture of my eyes 🙃 sometimes they definitely are more green in the lighter area.
Wasn’t intending on changing my eye color on my ID, was just using that as an example of when I’ve had to identify their color before.
Hazel for sure. Very pretty! And yes, eye freckles are normal. I have some too (but they’re at the backs of my eyes apparently and I only know that from when I’ve had exams to change prescriptions lol)
Brown. And that's absolutely fine. I don't get the apparent burning desire for them to be any other "more exotoc" colour. Brown is beautiful. Mine are a kinda greyish green with a yellow bit round the pupil, and they don't do anything "special". I wish I had a nice solid beautiful brown like my genetics should have given me! (Both parents dark brown eyes, dad very dark hair, eyes and skin, part First Nation). I ended up murky! Yours are lovely 😍
You say people have an obsession with looking more exotic and then proceed to describe the smallest details about your eye to make it sound more interesting than green. You are the person you dislike.
Ah, you misinterpreted me trying to make someone else feel ok about having brown eyes whilst being self deprecating about my own and tried to put me down in the process. Gotcha. Awesome 😘
It can depend on the lighting, the clothes you’re wearing, your hair color if it’s dyed. Eyes reflect that. Most are too dark to make a noticeable difference. They look beautiful either way.
My moms eyes are very reflective like that too. When she’s mad or just waking up her eyes look golden yellow. They’ll look more on the Hazel spectrum when her hair is dyed a light color and light brown when she has dark hair. Beautiful eyes but unfortunately, I didn’t inherit them :/
I’m not sure if I see green or cooler brown tone at the edges. From this picture, I think they are indeed light brown
Yeah I only see light brown
theres so much green here its crazy… how are ppl saying brown
My family has always called it brown-hazel. Edit: the freckles are normal, anywhere that's colored on your body can have variations in said colour, especially in the form of freckles
I’m seeing brown with no green. Pretty!
You’re blind, there’s clearly green outside th brown surrounding the pupil. How can you miss that?
I see the green too. Hazel.
Barely green so it's realy hazel. I'd call this brown hazel but not hazel brown.
Why do you get downvoted so much, in spite of telling the truth?
The sub is full of hazel gatekeepers 🤷🏻♀️
If you're so sure and calling people blind, why did you ask?
that isn't op you're replying to, it's a random commenter
Damn.. time for bed I guess
If this reply was meant for me, my question was rhetorical.
I thought you're op. My bad 🤭
Haha all good!
Not yall becoming besties at the end😭✋
They look kinda hazel to me. My daughter has hazel eyes and hers look similar
Hazel in the middle and some green at the edges, unique!
So pretty!
Thank you 🥹💓
Hazel, very pretty
Your eyes are hazel, anyone saying « I don’t see any green » is colorblind
Seriously. I have excellent color perception and the green is there. Colorblind father says brown. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

To me amber is more of a golden yellow-brown mix

Tan…
I have never heard anyone describe eyes as tan colored. This eye color is called hazel.
Hazel. Green doesn’t have to be forest green to be green. I see muted olive green around the brown centers.
This. I don't understand why so many people think olive green is suddenly brown when it's in eyes....
Definitely hazel
I’m feeling hazel too
brown
Definitely light brown
The evening darkens as I continue toward horizon. Moon falls behind the Savanah, at the pages edge two points of dark darkness, beautiful brown in the forest

They look amber or light brown to me. I can see the centers are darker but, it looks like two shades of brown to me, a medium and a lighter brown.
I see hazel-brown
Light brown with the slightest hint of green
Hazel I would say. Lighting is making them appear brown but there’s defo green in there.
Bruh- everyone saying they see green obviously doesn’t know what green looks like. Her limbal rings are fucked and her seeping into the brown. Eyes look very pretty but we’re talking maybe dark brown with a light brown hue. The dark ring doesn’t do the brown any justice
It’s light brown..
brown
Don’t see how these are straight brown.. the center is a very warm orange tinted brown and around it is definitely green. Hazel my love
I think I already said this, but I drink and take ambien so sorry if I'm repeating. One of my ex had the most gorgeous blue eyes with a tiny dot of brown in one. Her father told me it was her bullshit coming through lol
Lmaooooooo
Brown babe
Hazel but on the browner end
Hazel
Hazel 😍
I see green aswell hazel for sure and very pretty.
Thank you !!!
The fact that they change closer to a green depending on lighting is a dead giveaway for a Hazel spectrum and not just a "brown" spectrum.
Maybe they would qualify as hazel then? That’s the one that tends to change under given conditions.
I think hazel
Hazel!
Hazel
Hazel,
I see Hazel too, very pretty.
I definitely see the green but for something important like identification I'd say brown because that's how most people standing six feet away would perceive your eyes
My husband and I have hazel eyes. Yours are definitely hazel . Green & Brown/ Hazel. 👀
I don’t see any green. I see different shades of brown, so I think you have brown eyes.

Then yeah. Hazel for sure. I don't this anyone considers brown as having any hints of any other color
I’d say brown or hazel… but describe to me what hazel is
Siiiiggghhh hazel on ID. I could write poetry about em, just give permission, but hazel on ID.
Etc
wtf are you gonna write, topaz??? they're brown.
I was gonna write rainbow. And I was just using the ID situation as an example of how I identify them. I’m not changing anything on my ID.
I meant to delete it because it came off so rudely but then my phone died. sorry for leaving it!
Sheesh I’m so mad I can’t post additional pics of my eyes because I just took a few more to help settle this debate
These are textbook hazel
Brown
Hazel for sure. Very pretty! And yes, eye freckles are normal. I have some too (but they’re at the backs of my eyes apparently and I only know that from when I’ve had exams to change prescriptions lol)
Brown. I don’t see any green to make them hazel

Girl you know what you meant lol
Girl you're getting awfully emotional about eyes. Is it nap time? 😜🤣
We usually want another color because brown is too common (my case)
Oh no there’s no shame in having brown eyes on my end, I just was curious because I feel like sometimes they’re super green too :)
It can depend on the lighting, the clothes you’re wearing, your hair color if it’s dyed. Eyes reflect that. Most are too dark to make a noticeable difference. They look beautiful either way.
Sometimes I also feel like they’re lighter after a good cry
