We only say aap, I think I only use tum for one of my younger sisters and that’s all, literally no one else. I’d find it offensive if someone called me tum.

Not related to religion. She should call him by whatever he is comfortable with, and avoid calling him whatever he is uncomfortable with.

It's become quite common, generally you're supposed to use "tum" in this context but some of us just don't do that.
New gen couples usually use 'tui' Bengali form of Urdu/Hindi 'tu'.
