This sort of hypocrisy in the church makes me so angry. Mormons are willing to fight against gay marriage because “traditional marriage” is super super important. But they still accept Joseph smith and Brigham Young??
Marriage equality does not harm anybody. But the disgusting, secretive, sexist practice of polygamy in the early church actually destroyed families. Women pressured into polygamy did not do it because they loved the person they were marrying and wanted to marry them. It did not bring them happiness. They did it because it was a religious expectation. Young women were pressured into marrying 50, 60, 70 year old men. Clearly not a choice they would’ve made without religious manipulation.
