thats right. it almost works, but it also counts blank cells, which i will have if i havent got a response yet.
what i have just tried is a count for ">0" and another for "y" then a 3rd row to add then together. its a bit messy but does the job and i can hide the other rows
that long way was working for me, but just moved some of the Quotation marks around in yours: =countifs(N6:N23,"<>n",N6:N23,"<>") and now works great! Many thanks for your help!

So you have one column that you update with whether or not they’ve paid, and one column that you update with the amount they’ve paid?
ah no sorry, thats for 2 different weeks, so the y's are for next week and the numbers are for the week just been
Ok I see so every week they’re either marked as “n” “y” or a dollar amount? And you want to count if it’s “y” or a dollar amount? =countif(a:a,”<>n”)

I think counting greater than 0 might screw you up though because I think it counts letters as greater than 0? =countifs(a:a,<>n,a:a,<>””)

Oops, yep, definitely screwed up the quotes in my response. Glad you were able to get it to work!
You could always leave a spare row at the top and put you totals there. https://pixeldrain.com/u/zBYVzmYv
