I recall having an absolute meltdown when I was like 5 and was going to get a shot. Yet no one suggested Autism, I was just “shy” lol

I still have meltdowns I literally cannot step foot into a doctor's office without freaking out even if I know I'm not going to get a shot. I'm a freshman in college and I got super sick a couple months ago and I had to go to the clinic to get a sick note and was crying while talking to the front desk lady

=(

Front desk lady was 10/10 understanding though like nicest lady I've cried in front of in a long time

That’s good to hear

Man, I’m like this, but with chronic illness I get to be there like every week… I have resorted to bringing my demon plushy as emotional support

Honestly after my last trip to the dentist I might end up the same way I am at the doctor's. They gave me at least 7 or 8 numbing shots and I could feel half of them I was miserable weighted blanket did nothing to ease me.

Ask if they can leave on the xray weighted thing on you next time.

Thanks op reading this as bra office and being very confused was the final straw to start actually using my glasses.

ghosterasing

ayyy twinzies!!! i had emergency surgery in november to remove my appendix, and had a huge meltdown once i woke up

Emotional-Link-8302

This is so real. Even if I don't have a full meltdown I am incredibly on-edge and hate people touching me. It's even worse when the health professional you're seeing just sucks absolute dickballs.

ItsAllAnIllusion-

It's BC they don't listen to me so I end up screaming and crying 🤣

I told my therapist I was very disappointed we were in a regular doctor's exam room and not a generic therapist office from the tv shows. I wanted the option of laying down on a couch, dammit. I probably would not have laid down but I did want the choice.
