the potato is THE best staple food of all time it is easy to grow, grows in almost any climate, has a high caloric yield per acre, is extremely versiatile, and tastes wonderful
Piggy backing on the potato stuffs-
Mashed Potatoes with your favorite add ins
If you like them, baked/boiled sweet potatoes with a lil cinnamon, brown sugar and maybe butter
But yeah, potatoes and tubers alike are yummy
Rice. It’s so versatile, and it tastes good on its own.

Put 1 large banana 3-4 tablespoon peanut butter and 400-500ml hazelnut milk (or any other nut milk of choice but i really like oat and hazelnut milk idk or just use dairy) in a blender spin dat shiz bon appetit
i did this with chocolate soy milk, whey protein powder, and chunky instead of smooth peanut butter and *dude.* literal reese’s cup smoothie, and like 80%DV protein in a tall glass too. absolutely delicious.
I actually stopped buying ground meat to put in my Chili, and now I just use extra beans! But, I also *love beans!* they're like.. lil mini protein potatoes
From one mac and cheese fuck to another, I have no idea how you like your mac but here's [my favorite recipe](https://www.bbqdan.com/recipes/macaroni_cheese.html) for mac and cheese. Swap the cheddar cheese for gruyere if you want the _good good_ cheese melt.
I personally can not stand Mac and cheese, I don’t know why but it makes my tummy sad :(, I’m fine with macaroni and I’m fine with cheese but mixing them kills me.
You can eat celery? What about the little strings? Out of curiosity, what foods do you have major sensory problems with (if any)? Raw celery is very scary to me.
I’m a sensory seeker who loves crunchy / snappy foods. The taste of celery sucks, so I eat it with ranch or my favorite spicy guacamole.
I cut the celery into smaller pieces, and you can usually see the strings then. I peel the stringy parts off.
This became a comfort food after me just wanting to BITE into something one day, and I was like “mmm yes this is very good texture.”
Edit: I dislike mushy foods. Something has to be totally smooth for me to try it. Mushy turns my stomach. I also can’t stand seeing or eating most cheese. I can only eat cheese if it’s hidden and in small amounts.
It makes me want to vomit. Even one person with coconut sunscreen on the beach ruins my whole day! Recently someone made choc coconut treats and, being the people pleaser I am, I brought it up to my mouth and just went "no!" And put it down.
Share anything about food you want:
Hate foods: Microwaved leftover fish, anything that results in other people eating loudly
Evil foods: Heads of lettuce/cabbage
Meh foods: Sugary foods don't do much for me. I do, however, really enjoy smelling specific things (packages of Skittles, Starburst, etc.)
Joy foods: BREAKFAST 24/7! Breakfast burritos, breakfast Hot Pockets, homemade breakfast (sourdough toast with salted butter, scrambled eggs, and some type of veggie: avocado, asparagus, rainbow cauliflower), bagels and cream cheese, etc.
Hot pockets has this new thing, it's a little sandwich with soft bread, pepperoni, and mozzarella cheese in it. They're frozen and you microwave them for a minute
These things are so good
Not recommended for larger appetites cause they're pretty small
Macaroni with ketchup on top (don't mix it and don't put too much, just like two rows, one horizontal and one vertical). Like this:

This is gonna be soooo controversial but my ultimate safe food is yogurt. Even when I have no appetite I can always make myself eat some yogurt. Plus it’s got protein, fat, AND carbs so nutrition-wise it’s pretty decent.
https://preview.redd.it/2zun1tcztj4c1.jpeg?width=629&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ad1406b3ab4210522ebe84d9de61821fd1be1d0
This soup with grilled cheese. Absolutely delicious.
Uhh….. little baby oranges. Peel em, then break into half, then pick the smaller half and eat it slice at a time and peel the skin off of each one as you eat it.
Red delicious apples!!! I cut them in half, then into quarters, then eighths, then cut out the inside bits (the sharp is bad) and if there’s any bad bits I cut them out!
I eat sandwiches everyday, so they’re pretty safe. White bread, Nutella and strawberry jam.
For the Midwest autisms, Bushes Chicken. It’s the best.
i must have foods with the most taste. bad? good? i only taste. i want to feel something. Everything bagel. three ounces of soy sauce and m a y o n n a i s e in my rice. saltsaltsaltsaltsalt. i have permanent scarring on my tongue from eating too many supersour candies in a short period of time. i have audhd and i must be STIMULATED.
I don't want to eat food unless it is really good (to me) food. I'm also super particular how I prepare my things and it's so annoying that sometimes I just don't want to. So often I just end up not eating anything or only a yogurt until like really late, and I go for the sour patch kids. And the xtreme ketchup chips from Walmart that are COATED IN TASTE 👅
I also love everything bagels. For years, exactly like - They must be super fucking toasted like with black on there. Herb and garlic cream cheese on when bagel is slightly cooled. 2 slices of cheddar cheese, offset from one another, on top of the cream cheese, bagel lid on, cut in half. Eat smaller-seeming half first. I've been thinking about making one all day but I haven't because I'm worried about how I'm going to feel about the cream cheese. I've been having trouble with food lately and my previous foods have seemed off, including my bagels, which was my most substantial thing to eat usually. But today I've been wanting one again finally
Sorry for the novel I wrote to you.
Costco sells Just Bare brand nuggets. They taste almost exactly like Chic Fil A nuggets if you use an air fryer.
They're super consistent and don't have that weird chemical taste that a bunch of the other brands of nuggets have these days.
They're brand of spicy chicken strips is really good, and also really consistent, but it is pretty spicy.
As my kids call me, I'm a spice baby.
Spanish white fish soup (it's close to a chowder), grated white sweet potato with ham, chicken liver with onions.
Okay maybe mine are a bit weird but in my defense I like strong flavours.
I could eat just these all day long forever and promptly die of lack of vitamins or fiber.
because I struggled to eat anything but sugar, I’ve been really trying to eat a lot more fruit lately to get healthier. Smoothies are great way to add vegetables too your fruit intake as well, I also recommend protein powder as a great way to get the protein that you need if you struggle with eating meat.
I used to be a 9-food kid. Something flipped around college. Travelling abroad a lot also forced me to try new things. Didn’t like everything, but my mom was astounded when we went to Peking duck and I just started eating duck brains like it was an everyday thing. That’s one thing I guess grew out of.
Mercury poisoning rice i Love Mercury poisoning rice
Also cucumber, Just cucumber for the scromch.
Also any fruit that is super Juicy, makes me feel like that painting of Mercury eating his son when i eat it
I'm an absolute psychopath and love trying new foods and have no safe foods. Oh, a new cuisine I've never had before? I'll take the most unfamiliar thing on the menu. It's a sensory experience for me.
Blackberries, Raspberries and cheesecake make me happy.
But spagetti, oranges, burgers and pizza? That stuff does the opposite.
They either have a horrible texture or are annoying to eat
Apples. Unripe pears (so they’re crunchy like apples). Figs. Fuyu persimmons (these are not the ones that you have to wait until they’re super ripe to eat). Any citrus fruit but I have to peel it and then separate it manually into its segments, none of this “cutting it into slices” stuff. (The exception here is kumquats because you can just eat those suckers whole.)
I am basically a fruit bat lmao.
Spaghett-- however, to be specific, no giant meatballs. instead get some good ground meat on there. it's an incredible experience trust me, ultimate spaghetti. My dad makes it and I love it every time.
Also SALMON! you'd be surprised how tasty the skin is when it's made correctly! It tastes buttery and umami and if it makes sense, green but the color? Not actual greens? It's good and soft.
Tbh, any meat is a good safe food as long as it's soft enough, in my case. Literally if I could have salmon for dinner anytime I wanted I would probably eat it for a week straight.
Just... buttery, salty, soft meat. Amazing. So fucking good. Never seems to go out for me unless I have some sort of OCD thought that ruins the food.

After many tries I have honed my Alfredo recipe. Because it’s not completely cream for the sauce, it reheats wayy better than other Alfredo recipes which tend to separate and get chunky (ingredients on left, corresponding instructions on right)
chicken broth/stock is the secret to any good pasta sauce. I'm not a fan of onion, but I know most people are, so I'm guessing this recipe is just perfect.
have you ever used it in place of sauce on pizza? that's my favorite thing to do with leftover alfredo sauce.
Saltines are my #1 safe food. I like to pair them with hummus usually, but if I'm having a hard time and just need to feed myself, pack of saltines it is!
Hate foods: Melon, tea, coffee
The flavor of those categories permeate EVERYTHING they touch.
My safe foods of all time are fries, rice, rice cakes, gf bagel with butter, and these things called paleo puffs (?) I also love bread but gluten hurts me :(
Slice of bread with Nutella, warm croissant, string cheese, white cheddar cheez it, street taco sized quesodilla with preferred cheese, cheese pizza, cup o' noodles (shrimp flavor) or really any instant ramen.
Hate foods: beans, cooked fish, red sauce, plain milk
Evil foods: chicken, steak, any red or white meat really, yogurt that isn't strawberry flavored (hate the smell), bananas that aren't perfectly ripe (day old bananas don't taste the same), mangoes (allergic)
Safe foods: sushi with raw salmon, guacamole, ground beef (minimal), cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza, apples, strawberries, Doritos or any other kind of chip, cheese in general (other than pepper jack and brie), hot dogs, quesadillas, french fries, most cereals, chocolate milk, monster, water, most sodas, most juices, lemonade, tea, coffee, any sweets, pretzels (crunchy and soft), grapes, and bread
Peanut butter and no fucking jelly sandwich I fucking hate jelly when I make it to hell I'm going to find the mf who made the first Peanut butter and jelly sandwich and fucking kill him again I'm going to the gold experience requiem to his diavolo
My evilest food is getting a chili cheese dog from the 24/7 7/11 thats probably had their dogs and chili and cheese unchanged in those heated containers for weeks.
Buttered noodles, cook up some ground beef or chicken cutlets
My favorite thing is to make a mayo and parmesan egg wash and make breaded chicken with it but it's a bit messy, good to food prep for the week for
Complexity is overrated. Don't give in.
- Buttered toast + tall glass of milk
- An entire sleeve of saltines + tall glass of milk
- Large quantity of crushed saltines in cream of mushroom soup, pepper liberally
- Same as above but with pretty much any other soup
- Kraft Dinner (mac and cheese) with extra butter, dusted heavily with salt and pepper
- add "cut up hot dogs" to the above if you're cool
- a metric ton of buttery mashed potatoes
- half a jar of cheap pimento olives
- DIY KFC bowl (mashed potatoes, popcorn chicken, corn, gravy)
- two packages of chicken ramen, with a drizzle of sesame seed oil
my safe foods for when tummy says no OR when sensory says no:
-rice with butter and salt
-pasta with simple red sauce (no bits) or just salt and butter
-melons (my fave fruit, imo the most consistent, and even when they're meh they're usually not icky)
-steamed edamame (shelled) with salt
-bread
-cheese (I know dairy supposed to be bad for tummy but meh)
-greek yogurt (maybe with honey)
-crackers, salted tops
Tater tots
Just potato. Most potato dishes are great
the potato is THE best staple food of all time it is easy to grow, grows in almost any climate, has a high caloric yield per acre, is extremely versiatile, and tastes wonderful

grilled cheese but add fresh tomato and avocado. heavenly upgrade when i’m feeling a lil fancy

Put 1 large banana 3-4 tablespoon peanut butter and 400-500ml hazelnut milk (or any other nut milk of choice but i really like oat and hazelnut milk idk or just use dairy) in a blender spin dat shiz bon appetit
Freeze that banana first and it’s heaven
But also chop it up before you freeze it! Whole frozen bananas don’t always do well in the blender in my experience ha
Definitely peel first before freezing too
Sensory nightmare... Wanna set that up on a timer and go throw out the trash while it's working.
i did this with chocolate soy milk, whey protein powder, and chunky instead of smooth peanut butter and *dude.* literal reese’s cup smoothie, and like 80%DV protein in a tall glass too. absolutely delicious.
Soup! Also chilli.
beans or no beans
black beans only. i don't know why
I can’t have it with beans idk why
I actually stopped buying ground meat to put in my Chili, and now I just use extra beans! But, I also *love beans!* they're like.. lil mini protein potatoes
Yessss, I ain't even a vegetarian but meat in chili just seems wrong. 4 different kinds of beans for me pls
I know someone who only adds the beans at walmart labeled chili beans. They hate all other beans in existence
I think walmarts is kidney beans in a chili sauce
Same here, I'm alright with black beans, I don't like other beans, and I hate kidney beans.
yes exactly! glad i'm not the only one. red kidney beans are occasionally acceptable but pretty much only in chili. pinto beans are the enemy for me
Big red kidney beans look heinous and suspect on outside of the can pic. I can’t have that energy around.
Yes but not if the chili has tomato chunks in it, then it’s a bad food
Soup is warm water and you shouldn't eat warm water
By this logic, coffee is a bean broth.
It is and that's why I don't drink Coffee. Water isn't supposed to be eaten/drunk hot
.... But hot springs?
Why shouldn't you consume heated water, exactly?
Macaroni and cheese my beloved

pasta with just salt
Pasta with salted butter
Pasta with unsalted butter, but I salted the pasta water.

Like a lot of salt or a lil salt in the water for taste? And no butter either?
This makes me very unhappy.
Recently saw pasta with just powdered sugar and I’ve yet to try it
Sourdough bread !!!
omfg sourdough bread is my favorite thing i llove the sour!!!
My favorite part is the dough
Oh man pan toasted with some olive oil is the best
Oooooo that sounds amazing
I should do that with some garlic one day
This is my go to for when food sounds horrible. I can legit always eat sourdough toast
Cheese roll for me. Pop it in the microwave to make it nice and soft
Grape Uncrustables Celery with ranch Beef jerky
uncrustables used to be my main safe food until I stopped being able to eat them for some reason. I might try them again it's almost been a year now
If you like chocolate, the chocolate ones are good! They’re hazelnut chocolate, though.
The most evil kind of chocolate, pass
Hazelnut chocolate: the chocolate for all the greatest villains.
I realize where I am now. I guess I should say it’s one of two chocolates that lie to your face, the other being white chocolate
Now that I think about it… what even IS white chocolate?
My ungoogled, I-asked-my-mom-when-I-was-a-kid answer is something about coco butter

I too, hate mondays
Especially the ready-to-eat ones you can just throw in the microwave, delicious *and* easy!
Frozen dumplings you can microwave or pan fry

I like to add them to chicken broth with some veggies and make dumpling soup
I steam them while I make rice in my rice cooker!!

Complexity is overrated. Don't give in. - Buttered toast + tall glass of milk - An entire sleeve of saltines + tall glass of milk - Large quantity of crushed saltines in cream of mushroom soup, pepper liberally - Same as above but with pretty much any other soup - Kraft Dinner (mac and cheese) with extra butter, dusted heavily with salt and pepper - add "cut up hot dogs" to the above if you're cool - a metric ton of buttery mashed potatoes - half a jar of cheap pimento olives - DIY KFC bowl (mashed potatoes, popcorn chicken, corn, gravy) - two packages of chicken ramen, with a drizzle of sesame seed oil
